A/N: Well. Uhm. I never intended to write a third part but it was requested so… here it is? Enjoy!
Dark clouds swirled above, but Biana didn't pay any attention to it. She was looking at the beautiful girl running with their dog. Sophie sprinted, desperately trying to prove that she was faster than Ash, but Ash was beating her. Ash could beat almost everyone. Biana was mesmerized by the determination in Sophie's eyes and the way her long blonde hair flew in the wind. Sophie was running towards her now, and it didn't look like she was going to stop. Neither was Ash, but then again, Ash never stopped. Biana moved aside to not get hit by them. She could feel the whoosh of wind on her face as they sped by. Biana smiled. Sophie kept going, but was at this point, being dragged by Ash.
A fat, cold drop of water fell onto Biana's face. She looked up at the dark sky, registering its appearance and the amount of water that was now coming from it.
"Sophie!" Biana called out. Sophie didn't hear her. (she was pretty far at this point) "Sophie!" Sophie screeched to a stop and whirled around to look at Biana. "It's raining!" Biana told her. Sophie looked up at the sky, visibly sighed and then began sprinting back to Biana. This brought another smile to her face, but the smile faded as more water began splatting on her hair. Sophie slowed as she reached Biana.
"Sorry about that. I couldn't hear you so well. Come on, let's get home before-" She was cut off mid-sentence by a downpour of rain.
"You were saying?" Biana teased, putting her arms up over her head, attempting to block the rain. It was futile. Sophie groaned and copied Biana, but had similar results.
"Let's go!" Sophie called over the sound of the rain. She took off again, Biana keeping up with her. Ash started lagging behind a little (she didn't particularly like rain) and Sophie tugged on her, not hard, but enough. She shouted something that sounded a little like "Come on, Ash!" but came out a little more like "Come on, Ass!" Biana was fairly sure Sophie wouldn't call their dog ass for something like this though.
Their apartment seemed farther away from the park than it had before. Except maybe when they'd met. The park had seemed eternal then as well. As they sprinted, Biana began slowing a little, but not too much. She was right behind Sophie and could see her starting to slip before it even happened. Sophie was up one second, the next her ankle was twisting in a puddle and the third she was on the ground. She shrieked as she fell. (Biana would never admit it aloud but it was super cute)
"Sophie!" Biana exclaimed. "Are you okay?" She asked. Sophie looked up, her face being battered by the rain. Biana reached a hand down to her and Sophie took it. She helped her to her feet and ended up pulling her a little too close. There was a very long, awkward moment where they were just standing in the rain, their faces almost touching before Sophie stepped back. Biana looked down, pretending like that hadn't stung.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Sophie started running again, although slower than before. They finally reached their apartment building which didn't have an awning because of course not. As Sophie fumbled with the keys they continued to be poured on. She finally got the door open and stepped into the building, dragging Ash with her. Biana followed and slammed the door behind her. She leaned against the wall for a second before starting to giggle. Sophie looked at her like she was crazy, but then started giggling herself. They were a mess of laughs as they went up to their second-floor room. The laughing didn't stop even when they were in their apartment. Sophie managed to get Ash off her leash (the dog proceeded to jump onto the couch)
"I'm going to go change." Biana said after they managed to compose themselves. She went into her room and got her clothes from her dresser. She went into the bathroom to change so she'd have someplace to dry her sopping wet clothes. She changed as fast as she could but neatly hung up her clothes on the bathtub. She emerged from the bathroom to find Sophie waiting outside in a change of clothes. She'd chosen to wear a red crop top, though it wasn't too high up, it was still enough to make Biana's brain die for too long. She was brought back to life when Sophie cleared her throat.
"Oh, sorry." Biana stepped aside, ignoring the blush in her cheeks as she pushed past Sophie.
"You're good." Sophie stepped into the bathroom to hang up her wet clothes as well. Biana took a seat at their small round table and stared at the pride flags on the wall. Sophie sat in front of her, and they sat in silence for a while. "Are you hungry?" Sophie asked. "I think we have some stuff to make burritos."
"I'm not super hungry but I'll eat." Biana told her. She stood up abruptly and made her way to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and examined what they had. She took out the necessary supplies as Sophie dug around and looked for the correct pots. Biana put the food on the counter and looked out at the apartment. Something new occurred to her.
There were two bedrooms in this apartment, a good kitchen, a decent sized living room, and a pretty good bathroom. "Hey why did you get such a big apartment if it's just you living here?" Biana asked as she began washing the lettuce. Sophie paused and didn't say anything for a while. Biana looked over at her.
"I had a girlfriend." Sophie whispered eventually. She cleared her voice and repeated, "I had a girlfriend. Before I met you. We'd been dating for four years and I thought we were… going to be together. So I found this big place with a pretty good deal on rent and decided to go for it." Sophie didn't look at Biana as she spoke, and instead turned on the burners to preheat the pots Sophie didn't say anything for another long time.
"If you don't want to tell me you don't have to." Biana said. Sophie sighed and shook her head.
"No. We've been friends for over a year now so I should tell you…" That friends part made Biana want to look away, but she was captivated by Sophie's gaze as their eyes met. "My girlfriend and I moved in and we lived here for about a month. And then she… she told me that she was breaking up with me. She told me that I couldn't give her what she wanted. She also told me that she had been seeing another girl for the past six months." Biana could see the tears burning behind Sophie's eyes.
"I'm so sorry Sophie." Biana told her. She stopped washing the lettuce and moved to give Sophie a hug. (She did, in fact, dry her hands) She wrapped her arms around Sophie and pulled her close. Sophie returned the hug and buried her face into Biana's shoulder. It had been over a year since Sophie's girlfriend had broken up with her, but Sophie was twenty one now, and that meant they'd been dating since they were at least sixteen. That girl must have meant a lot to Sophie and she was stupid, so stupid, to have wanted to give her up for another girl.
No other girl will be it for me. Biana thought. She pushed that thought away. It wasn't the time to be thinking about her crush on Sophie. She needed to comfort her, not simp for her. Biana lost track of how much time passed but when Sophie pulled away, her tears were dry.
"Come on." Her voice was hoarse. "We have to finish making our dinner." She said. Biana nodded and turned back to cleaning the lettuce. She finished quickly and began ripping the lettuce into reasonable pieces as Sophie put the beans in the (very warm) pot. They were waiting for the beans to cook when the lights started to flicker.
"Oh fu-" Biana started. The lights flickered off before she could finish. She turned to Sophie. "Ck." She finished. She sighed. "Great now our beans can't cook."
"Shit." Sophie muttered. "We have no power at all. Which means no water and the refrigerator and heat won't work either. Okay make sure to not open the refrigerator until the power comes back on. We can't really have burritos without beans so… I guess we can have some lettuce and shredded cheese?" Sophie offered.
"We should wait for the power to come back on." Biana said, suddenly very hungry. "Oh, I guess we should towel off Ash."
"Oh yeah, that's a good idea." Sophie went to the bathroom and retrieved a towel while Biana called Ash over to her. Ash listened and came over, receiving pets for her good behavior. Sophie came out with the towel and dropped it on Ash's back. She began toweling the dog off while Biana (helpfully) petted her head. Satisfied that Ash was dry enough, Sophie took the towel and dried the couch off. She plopped down on it and gestured for Biana to join her. Biana sat next to her at a reasonable distance for friends. She pursed her lips and looked over to where Ash was now rolling on the rug. She smiled at the dog's silliness. Ash wasn't really a puppy anymore, but she still acted like one.
Sophie leaned back into the couch, seeming to consider something for a moment. Biana turned her attention back to Sophie. Sophie suddenly decided to stand, and she walked over to the shelf below her hanging pride flags and unlocked the bottom drawer with a small key on her keychain. Biana had seen it before but had never questioned the lock. Whatever Sophie came back with was small enough to fit in both her hands in a way that Biana could not see what was inside. Sophie stared down at her hands.
"I was… I was going to ask her to marry me." Sophie said, opening her hands and showing Biana the black velvet box. She opened it up and Biana's eyes widened. Inside was a pink ring with a silver band. The pink gemstone was shaped in a diamond shape. It wasn't a diamond, but it was still beautiful.
"Sophie… that ring is beautiful." She said, choosing her words carefully so she wouldn't accidentally say something that would ruin it all.
"Yeah." Sophie agreed, her tone clipped and bitter. "Pink was her favorite color." She sighed. "I had this whole plan. We were going to drive down to the ocean for a weekend and I was going to bring her to a nice beach where there was no one else. I was going to set up a picnic for her and when we finished as the sun was setting I was gonna ask her." Biana's heart ached for Sophie. Her girlfriend had been so terrible. "But the weekend before we left was when she told me. I think she knew - or at least suspected - what I was planning. So that's why she decided to cut it off." Biana didn't say anything, but just listened. Sophie closed the ring box and turned it around in her hand a few times.
"I bought us this big apartment because we were gonna have a kid and I wanted them to have a good place to grow up. I wanted to get a real house but my job at the time wasn't so good and I couldn't afford it. This was all I could afford. And I thought it was enough for her. But I guess not." Sophie sighed again and stood up. She returned the ring to it's spot and locked the drawer again.
"Soph…" Biana didn't know what to say to make her feel better. Apologizing wouldn't help.
"It's okay. I'm okay now. I'm ready to move on from her. But hey, at least if I ever do find another girl I'll already have a ring." Sophie tried to lighten the mood with the joke, but that made Biana's mind focus on another thing. "What are you thinking about?" Sophie asked.
"Nothing." Biana replied too quickly.
"No, you're thinking about something. You purse your lips and look away when you're concerned." Sophie said. She scooted a little closer and took Biana's hand. "What is it? You can tell me anything."
Not this. "What happens to me if you do find another girl? I don't think there's enough room for all of us here and I don't want to be in the way of you guys." Biana said.
Sophie was quiet. It was clear she hadn't thought about this. "I… I don't really know to be honest. Whatever happens, I'll help you out though." Sophie said. "I would never kick you out and stuff."
Biana pulled her hand out of Sophie's and moved back slightly. She hoped she imagined the hurt on Sophie's face. "I guess I'll have to find my own place. I have a decent job so as long as the rent isn't too-"
Biana was interrupted. But she didn't register what she was interrupted by for a long time. Sophie had interrupted her, but not by speaking. By kissing her. Biana was stunned for a moment and couldn't think. Sophie pulled away.
"Oh shit. Shit. Shit!" She growled. "I. Am. So. Sorry. I didn't mean to do that. Well I did but- ugh fuck. Biana I am so sorry. I shouldn't have done that." Sophie looked away and Biana sat, too stunned to speak. She finally came to her senses and realized a very important thing.
Sophie Foster had just kissed her. Sophie fucking Foster had just kissed her. The girl she'd been crushing on for over a year had just kissed her. And thought that she hadn't loved every second of it.
"Please don't be angry with me. I promise we can still be friends. Best friends kiss right?" Sophie asked, desperately trying to get the situation under control. "Biana I'm so-" She didn't finish. Why? Because Biana had surged forward and captured Sophie's lips on her own. Sophie kissed her back. She kissed like Biana was the only thing she had in the entire world. Sophie pulled away again and looked at Biana straight in the eyes. "Are you sure this is what you want?" Sophie asked in a small voice.
But Biana wasn't satisfied. A year of pining for this girl and she thought a two second kiss was good? "Absolutely. Are you?" Biana asked her, knowing this had to come first.
"Are you kidding me? Biana, I've liked you since the day you crashed into me in the park." Sophie told her. Biana felt herself smile.
"Really?" She asked. Instead of answering, Sophie leaned forward and kissed her again. She raised a hand to Biana's face and another hand had gone around her back. Sophie pulled her close and Biana practically died.
She wasn't sure how long they kissed for, but Ash interrupted them with a loud bark,
"Ash!" Sophie and Biana scolded their dog at the same time. Then they both burst out laughing. Biana wrapped her arms around Sophie and pulled her as close to her as she could. Sophie returned the hug and added a kiss to Biana's cheek. Biana closed her eyes and knew that this was the happiest she'd been in a long time.
A/N: (These notes are a product of my midnight mind. It's no longer midnight and I am functional. :D)
AAAAAAHHHH MY QUEENS ARE FINALLY TOGETHER! *Intense Fangirling*
Okay. Well. It's now 1:42 in the morning and I have to wake up at sometime between 6 and 8 today. I should go to bed. But first I'm going to thank one of my great friends for giving me this prompt. I'm also going to thank a guest user on for requesting a third part. I really loved this one.
(That has nothing to do with the fact that Sophiana finally kissed. Nothing to do with it)
Okay I'm gonna go to bed now… Byeeee.
