SLIGHT GORE WARNING. I warned you :(
Crane snapped at an Icewings neck as it gripped her with its sheer icicle claws. Her teeth collided with scales and sent the dragon screeching away.
"Reed," Crane's ears perked at her little sister, Sora spoke. "help us!"
Crane looked over and saw their bigwings grappling with two Icewings. He won't make it there in time, she knew as she dived toward her sister and brother, Marsh.
She spotted Reed whacking Icewings away with his tail as he fought to get closer. But she was already there. She slashed one of the two glittering ice dragons in the neck, sending her falling to the ground. She spun around gracefully to catch another with a fire ball in the face. He fell out of the sky as well, clutching his eyes and screaming.
Crane glanced at Marsh and Sora. "Thank you Crane," Marsh spoke. She smiled at them. I will never let anyone hurt either of you, ever.
Then Crane felt weight on her wings, and she looked up just in time to see a glittering Icewing on her back, grinning maliciously at her other siblings.
As Crane fell from the sky, the light in her pure amber eyes fading she gave a small frown. "I couldn't even keep my promise. . ." She whispered as her body hit the ground.
The crunching sound of bones hitting the ground clouded her ears in her last moment of life.
The blood seeped from her wounds as she lay on the gravel, dead, and as did the tears from her siblings.
