Their bags were already placed inside their made-up red tent—the color that his wife preferred—and their portable stove and heater ready to be used. The foldable seat for two that he bought spread before the lake where they were at the moment.

No dark clouds and sign of incoming rain or storm. The weather was perfect.

Shinichi grinned.

It was the perfect moment to spend with his wife. They had been both so busy, with his cases and Ran's karate dojo. They hadn't spent a day with each other ever since their honeymoon, only meeting at home and talking at night after a long day.

Ran had been patient with him as always, telling him it was fine since the kids in the dojo kept her occupied. She also looked happy sharing stories about her day and Shinichi, even though he misses her every minute of the day, couldn't help but smile and be happy for her, since she loved kids and she was great with them.

He remembered the time when he was still the six-year-old Edogawa Conan.

She was a perfect sister and doted on him a lot, without knowing it was him. Not only that, she also took care of the Detective Boys from time to time, and treated them as her siblings.

He knew Ran would be a perfect mother. He wondered if he would be a perfect father too.

His thoughts were broken when he felt an arm wrapped around his and he saw her staring at him curiously.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked, her nose twitching.

Finding it cute, Shinichi tapped a finger on her nose. With a smile, he replied, "Of course, I'm thinking of things I should do with my wife tonight." He winked and that made the woman blush.

Ran could not help it though. After getting married to him, he still had that kind of effect on her.

Shinichi laughed at her red cheeks and stepped with her towards the foldable seat he prepared. "Come and take a seat with me."

His wife nodded, wearing a red long-sleeved dress that reached to her knees and a white knitted coat. He was wearing the same white coat, with a red long-sleeved shirt and black pants. Ran bought it for him today and it was her idea to wear the same outfit which he did not have any problem with.

They both sat on the two foldable seats which were very close to each other, leaned on it to look up at the sky that was now filled with beautiful shimmering stars in different tints and shades of blue, red, yellow, and green, and hands clasped each other.

"So beautiful…" Ran's eyes shone brightly against the darkness and Shinichi stared at her. He was mesmerized and he could not take his gaze off her.

"Yeah, but there is something more beautiful than the stars." He muttered, still staring at his wife.

Ran was still adoring the sky as she asked with a smile, "Eh? What is it?"

"Oh no, it's a someone and of course, it's my very gorgeous wife." He grinned and Ran turned to him, a blush furiously appearing on her cheeks. Her husband laughed softly, and she shyly smiled at him. "Shinichi…"

His free hand gently caressed her face, took her other free hand, and kissed it; the gloves she was wearing felt cold against his lips. His eyes went back to hers and they gazed at each other for a while before a wide smile spread across their faces.

"You really know how to make me smile." Ran remarked, sitting up straight and his husband followed her actions.

"You know I'll do anything just to see that smile I fell in love with." He winked. The wife giggled.

"Yes, yes, Thank you for bringing me for stargazing, though. This is amazing!"
"I'm so happy you like it."
"But, anywhere is fine though, as long as we are together."

It was Shinichi's turn to blush. Ran saw it and laughed. She pinched his cheeks lightly and chirped. "You're so cute!"

"I'm not cute!" he pouted. "I'm handsome and cool."

Ran shook her head with a smile. "Okay, you are handsome and cool."

"You don't sound convinced." He said, glancing at her.

She giggled. "You got me."

"Raaaan~"

She laughed at his pouting lips and pecked it with hers. "Sorry, I just can't help teasing you."

He returned it with his own peck on hers. "You're such a bully."

She grinned.

They both pulled away and gazed at the shining sky once again, a comfortable silence engulfing them.

"Really, thank you for this anniversary gift, Shinichi." She whispered; eyes still locked at the sky.

He smiled, eyes closed and gripped her hand in his tighter, as if to say, "All for you, my love."

He heard her breathed out and exclaimed, "Then let me give you a gift as well!"

Her voice made him look at her in confusion. "Hm? You already gave me this outfit, aren't you?"

"Yes, but that's not the only gift I prepared for you." She replied, facing him. "Today is a special day after all."

Shinichi faced her as well excitedly. "So, what's my other gift then?"

Ran lowered her gaze and he noticed that habit of hers. She only did that when she was nervous.

"Ran? Is there something wrong?"

She shook her head and willed herself to look at him. "No… it's just that, I've waited for this day to tell you that… I…"

He tilted his head. "You… what?"

"I… I'm pregnant, Shinichi."

His eyes widened and felt all his strength suddenly vanished into thin air. He stumbled on the foldable seat and Ran gripped his arms to try and stabilize him but good thing, he was able to sit on the seat. She did the same and looked at him.

"Shinichi…?"

"I… for how long?" he muttered; eyes still wide.

"I'm two months along." she replied nervously. The actions of her husband kind of scared her and she could not tell if he was happy or not.

"H-How did you know?"

She bit her lip. She was sure he would scold her, but she didn't want to lie, and also, she didn't want them to be fighting in their special day, though she was prepared for it since it was her fault for hiding this from him.

"I… don't feel well these past few days so I went to the doctor last week. And, I heard then that I am…"

Shinichi raised his head and stared at her with hard eyes. Ran sighed. Okay, this is it.

"You weren't feeling well, and you didn't tell me?"

His voice was a little angry. She could not blame him. He was protective of her ever since they got together.

"I-I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to worry." She bit her lip.

Shinichi saw it and realized that she was feeling guilty of hiding it from him, so he shouldn't be mad at her anymore. Today was their special day and he didn't want to ruin it. There was also the fact that his wife was… pregnant.

He sighed. "You're lucky I love you, Ran, but please don't hide anything from me just because you didn't want me to worry." He told her, touching her arm gently. "You know I'll worry, I'm your husband."

"Hm." She nodded. "I'm sorry."

He shook his head. "Just make sure it doesn't happen again."

"Okay."

Silence and then…

"So… you're really pregnant?"

She nodded.

Ran almost jumped when her husband suddenly wrapped his arms around her. It was firm and tight but not enough to hurt her. His hand was on her head, stroking it softly.

"I'm so happy. We're finally having our own family."

Ran's eyes widened at his soft voice and tears gathered in her eyes. She buried herself in him and breathed in his scent and felt his warmth.

"Shinichi…"

"Thank you, Ran. This is the best gift you've given me for our anniversary."

They pulled away just enough to see each other's eyes but still engulfed in each other's arms.

Ran's happy tears cascaded down her cheeks and she smiled softly at him. Shinichi kissed her tears away from her cheeks and lastly, he gave a butterfly kiss on her forehead. "I love you." He whispered, a loving gaze in his eyes towards the woman who was everything to him.

She did the same to him and replied, "I love you too."

The night continued as they talked about the future that they envisioned with each other and with the new bundle of joy they were looking forward to meeting, wishing, and hoping the guidance of the aligned stars that were shining brightly from above them.
