Chapter 3:
"Yeah, I pretty much thing everything is set for me, I'm a rising popstar now" Usagi shrugs as she holds her phone gently to her ear as she pulls the washing out of the washing machine, a pile of black clothes building in the white washing basket.
"Yeah, but what about Mamoru, you know exactly that he wants to become a doctor and that he doesn't care about money, all he cares about is you and his job pretty much, and his friends of course." Makoto says gently to her best friend. Usagi sighs. "Where is Mamoru now anyway?" she asks her and Usagi exhales her breath shakily.
"Looking at Hospitals on the computer that he can work at when he gets back." She says as she places the clothes onto the washing line. "And I still have to design Minako's album cover for her new album and Mamo's on the computer… sooooo…" Usagi coughs.
"Usagi, I can tell you're not feeling very well." Makoto says gently to the twenty-one-year-old blonde over the phone.
"I'm fine". She says hoarsely. "Anyway, I should be going" Usagi says before hanging up. Immediately she walked into the lounge room and plopped herself on the couch. The light aesthetic calmed her down gently, unlike the cold aesthetic from when she didn't live here permanently. Gently, she pulled out her phone and headphones, deciding to play Minako's sugary pop album that she had to design the cover for. Minako had blown up more quickly than Usagi, but usagi was fine with it.
"I'm finished with the computer now if you want it" Mamoru says as he walks into the living room, startling Usagi immediately. She calms her heartrate which had spiked from the surprise. "You alright?" he asks her, and she nods.
"yeah, you just startled me" she admits as she stands up gently, her feet touching the soft fabric of the rug. Mamoru smiled and wrapped his arms around his girlfriend, who slipped out of them, her heart breaking into pieces from the fact that he was leaving from another month. He was leaving her.
Not breaking up with her, but it still hurt. "What's wrong" Mamoru asks from the door as he watches her sit down on the study chair. "Have I done something?" he asks her and she flinches.
"no" she whispers gently. "It's just me" she breathes, clicking to open the program, revealing the album cover she was working on.
"Who is that for?" he asks her.
"Minako" she whispers "for her new album" she says as starts to draw again. Carefully, she added details, the outline and shading, and the realism. Anything to make it look better, then she uploaded it to her email to send to Minako.
"We've got to go Usako" Mamoru says gently as she touches her shoulder. She nods and swallows the lump in her throat as she stands up and walks to the closet, pulling a jumper from it. Slowly, they both walk to the front door, pull on their shoes and leave, locking the grey door behind them.
The sun blinded usagi as she sat in the front seat of her own car, the car mamoru had insisted during the week to buy her, since she sold her old car, using the money when she had too. The trees flew by her eyes and the car was silent. She didn't know how much longer she could last without him. A month seemed extremely long to her, but she had survived the full four years without him, excluding the month were she saw him after the first two. So surely, she could last another month, right?
"I know it'll be hard, but it's not long right? One month is better than another year". He says as he pulls out his small day bag before his hand touched hers and she gave in. her eyes started to water before it wasn't long Mamoru noticed. "When I get back you can have whatever you want, we can have the best wedding you could ever want in your entire life, I'll give you the world if you want it" he says, and she nods.
"Can we have a beach wedding with a pretty sunset?" she asks, and he lets out a low chuckle.
"Of course," He says, carefully looking at her. "I should go now so I don't miss my plane" he whispers, and she nods. Then, she wraps her arms around his neck, throwing her lips onto his, in an attempt to convince him to stay. subsequently afterwards, he lets go before walking away slowly. Usagi didn't let her eyes off him until he disappeared into the hallway where he would shortly, board the airplane. Then she left, walking through the sun and into her car, where she laid her head back onto the top of the seat. Suddenly, her phone started ringing, and Minako's name popped up on her screen.
"Hey" Minako says. "Mamoru's plane just left I think… how are you going" Minako asks her gently.
"I'm alright, just the same as always, lonely." She sighs. "We were talking about the wedding before he left." She says. "He promised me anything when he came back too" she whispers into the receiver of her phone. She heard Minako's breath through the phone before she spoke.
"He won't be able to keep that promise Usagi-chan" Minako says.
"He will…" Usagi argues.
'Usagi, all men say that, look how many relationships I've been through, I cant trust anyone now. I cant trust men, all men except your boyfriend Usagi" Minako explodes over the phone.
"Mamo is different, he's been through more than most of those men. He lost his parents at the age of six, who he can't even remember. He never had no friends until high school where he met 'Toki. He didn't even understand love, or anything on having a crush on a girl so he bullied the girl he loved for two entire years. And then when he finally stops, after breaking her heart, he starts to date her, and she never realises what he's been through until then" usagi rants. "So, I trust him, he doesn't want to put me through any sort of emotional pain from anything." Usagi says.
"Alight…I believe you but I'm staying over tonight" Minako says.
"Alright…I'll pick you up in half an hour" usagi whispers and then, the phone beeped before she placed it down on the seat next to her.
