Helga's Makeover II

Chapter 3: Who's That Girl? Part 2

Helga G. Pataki is many things.

She is a tough girl, she is not someone you wanna mess with and she is a irrevocably in love with a certain Football Head who is off helping people once again.

She is also feeling bored and a little anxious with his absence.

She dressed up in her girliest outfit, applied make up and made her hair all wavy in an effort to prove that she COULD be feminine and that she is as much of a girl as any other female here...and that she is SO worthy of her precious Arnold's love and affection.

Not Ruth. Not Lila. But her, HELGA G. PATAKI!

However, he is not here. He is still helping Rhonda stall as they locate the missing art project, leaving the blonde girl by herself.

"So, now what do I do?..."Helga thought as she leaned against a wall.

As she was thinking that she's wasted her time if Arnold is not here. This was a rare opportunity for her to do something many consider out of character for her and until Arnold comes back, she has to wait.

After a while, the blonde girl sighed in defeat as she knew that she had to wait for her beloved to return to her.

"Eh, I guess I could look at some of the art while I wait for Arnold to come back..."Helga thought as she went to go look at the art work.

Unknown to her, someone was looking at her...with interest.

Oh boy.

Meanwhile

Sid, Stinky and Harold were doing what they usually do at these sort of functions: Goof around.

They had come here for both the extra credit and the free food. After Harold made a pig of himself until Rhonda ordered him to stop, they reluctantly listened to her so that she'd stop yelling.

Now, they were looking at the art but not really getting it. It didn't stop them from goofing around again.

"Hey guys! Look at this one!..." Sid said with a laugh as he pointed to one art project.

"Wilikers, this looks like someone dropped a tray of lasagna..."Stinky commented.

"You said it, pal..." Sid said, wondering who made that one.

Before he could ask, Harold started complaining again.

"I don't care about some dumb art projects. I'm just hungry..."Harold whined as he grabbed a fist full of cocktail weenies from a nearby waiter.

"Come on, guys. We get extra credit just for showing up..."Sid said.

"Yeah, I know..." Harold said while he ate.

"Gosh fellas, it could be worse..." Stinky said..."At least, we're not the ones who got to put this stuff away when it's over..."The southern boy said.

"Yeah, I gu-..." Sid said, stopping mid-sentence.

That got his friend's attention.

"Sid?..."Stinky asked but his friend remained silent.

Sid was silent as he saw something that caught his eye. His jaw dropped and he even dropped the punch he had, concerning his friends.

"Sid, what's a matter?..."Harold asked, he even stopped eating due to his friend's weird behavior.

speechless, Sid just pointed at what had caught his attention. The two boys soon turned in the direction to where Sid is pointing and saw what caught his eye.

It's a girl.

A blonde, slim girl wearing a nice, pink dress. She has wavy blonde hair that was cascading down her shoulders, pink lipstick on her face and her bangs was covering her left eye, giving her a mysterious kind of look.

She's also a REALLY pretty girl too.

Sid was amazed as he stared at her.

"Who is that four foot bundle of beauty?!..."Sid said as a blush was forming on his face.

"Willikers!..."Stinky said as a blush also formed on his face.

Harold, due to his relationship with Pattie, wasn't gawking at her like his friends were, though he did have to admit that she was kind of pretty.

"Who is she, anyway?..."Harold asked, being clueless.

"I feel like I've seen her before. What do you guys think?..." Stinky asked.

"I dunno who she is, but I'm gonna find out..."Sid said with a grin.

However, Stinky frowned as he turned to him.

"Hey! What if I wanna go and meet her?..."Stinky said, sounding annoyed and maybe jealous.

To his surprise, he saw that Sid was already gone and was halfway to the girl.

"You snooze...you loose, Stinky..."Sid said as he ran to go meet the new girl and Stinky frowned.

Hard!

All the while, Harold went back to eating all of the food at the buffet table...after making sure that Rhonda wasn't around, that is. He did send a look to his friends, who no doubt are going to make fools of themselves now.

"Glad, I have a girlfriend…" He said before he burped from eating.

With Helga

The blonde girl is currently eyeing a portrait of a smiling clown, with a critical eye.

"Sure, he is smiling...but I can sense the tortured soul underneath..."Helga commented as this painting reminded her of her sister, for some reason.

"Nope, he is smiling on the inside too..."A fifth grade girl, the one who painted the drawing, said to her.

"If you say so..."Helga said as she continued to pass the time, admiring or criticizing the art work.

Not like she had anything better to do until her boyfriend got here. As she kept looking at the art, someone walked up to her. It was a cute and short Japanese-American girl, who was wearing a nice light blue dress and jacket combo.

That being said, the girl had bumped into her by accident when Helga wasn't looking..

"Oh, excuse me..."Phoebe said, only to see who it was that she bumped into.

"Hey there, Pheebs..."Helga said in a sheepish way as her friend's eyes widen now.

"Helga, is that you?! What are you wearing?..."Phoebe asked as she looked at her from head to toe.

Recalling that she never told Phoebe of the Cecile incident, since she had chosen to keep that to herself...Helga decided to give the most censored version of what she is doing.

"Oh, I just...decided to give myself a makeover..."Helga said and Phoebe sighed, recalling the last time that happened.

"Helga...again?!..."Phoebe questioned. "I thought we have been over this! What reason do you have to go through this- ..."The smart girl said but Helga cut her off.

"Phoebe, I...I am just wearing this to make a point..."Helga said.

"To who? Connie and Maria. Who cares what they think?..."Phoebe said while Helga frowned and shook her head.

"Not them. I have someone better in mind..." Helga said.

"Who? Arnold? I'm sure he's not going to care..." Phoebe said.

Helga sighed and looked to the ground, feeling self-conscious as she looked at their classmates, who were still looking at the art projects.

"Phoebe, you don't understand. I just want people to stop thinking of me as some rough tomboy. Just this once it would nice if I can be...you know...feminine enough for Arnold..."Helga said.

"Why? Why are you feel you need to do this?..." Phoebe asked, since she knows her friend.

She's a lovely girl but she isn't interested in a lot of "girly things"...at least, not as much compared to girls like Lila or Rhonda. Phoebe liked Helga as she is because...with the exception of her love for Arnold and poetry, she was always honest about what she likes and aside from Rhonda's slumber party incident in the fourth grade, she was never one to care about what people thought about her looks...except, maybe Arnold.

Helga sighed as she looked away from her friend.

"Because, I love the football headed goof..."She thought privately before answering.

"I have my reasons..."The blonde said while her friend sighed.

Phoebe was about to say something to her, but noticed the time on her watch and gasped.

"Oh, dear!..."The short girl said.

"What is it?..."Helga asked her friend.

"Helga, I have to go present my entry...just promise me that you won't go overboard like the last time..."Phoebe pleaded to her.

"This isn't going to be like the last time. Believe me, all I plan on doing is enjoying the art show with Arnold, just as soon as he gets back..."Helga said.

Phoebe heard this and nodded.

"Very well but please...be careful..."The short girl said.

Once Phoebe left, Helga was left to see the paintings on her own again. That's when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

She turned around and saw Sid and Stink, who were grinning at her.

"What do these two losers want?..."Helga thought.

"Uh, yeah? What is it?..."Helga retorted at them in her usual way.

To her surprise, instead of getting annoyed or nervous like they usually do around her, the two boys kept grinning at her. It was starting to get kind of creepy, especially when they spoke.

"Hi...I'm Sid..."The hat wearing boy said.

"And I'm Stinky Peterson, ma'am..."Stinky said as he did a gentleman bow.

Helga was confused by this.

"What are they up to? Some stupid prank?..." She thought as the two boys kept sending her that weird look.

"You must be new here...welcome to PS 118..."Sid said. "So, is there anything I can get you?..."He said, trying not to be a goof in front of her.

Trying and failing.

"Or me, ma'am..."Stinky said, looking just as goofy around her.

Helga's jaw almost dropped at that.

"Do these goons really not recognize me?..."Helga thought, annoyed until she noticed her reflection in a nearby reflective surface of a painting's plastic protection.

Her bangs were lose and were covering her right eye, which might have something to do with the identity mix up.

"Uh...listen you yahoos, I'm..."Helga was cut off by Sid misinterpreting what she said.

"Yahoo soda, your wish is my command..."Sid said quickly.

However, he was pushed aside by Stinky.

"She asked me to get her a yahoo soda!..."Stinky said as he ran to get one, while wrestling with Sid to get in front.

Helga was stunned and shook her head, wondering if she is seeing things.

"Okay, that was too weird..."Helga said as the two boys left to go get the soda, still fighting along the way.

The weirdness did not stop, as another boy came up to her, with that strange look in his eyes. It was Big Gino who a strange smile on his face as he was carrying a bouquet in his hand.

"Hey..."Big Gino said as he had a weird look on his face.

"What does he want?..."Helga thought, wondering why this jerk had that weird look in his eye.

"How about you and me blow this stand, Doll-face?..."Big Gino said with a flirtatious grin.

"Doll-face?!..." Helga exclaimed with a frown before registering what he just said. "As if!..."She thought in repulsion.

Before she could tell him to take a hike, someone else appeared to the scene...by pushing Gino out of the way. It's the only boy in town who was rich enough to not be intimidated by the mobster-wannabe.

Rex Smyth-Higgins.

"What's he doing here?! He doesn't even go to our school!..."Helga thought in dismay.

The pompous rich boy then pulled out some flowers too and sent her a look that made Helga's skin crawl.

"Why, good day fair lady, I am Rex Smyth-Higgins III. My family owns this art gallery..."Rex said, emphasizing that his fortune and status to see if that would impress her.

Helga was not at all impressed, but the rich kid kept bugging her.

"So, my dear...may I get you anything you could possibly want?..."Rex said, thinking he can woo her with his fortune.

Helga frowned, but before she could open her mouth to tell him to get lost, Big Gino got up and looked mad.

"Hey, do you mind? We're talking!..."Gino said harshly while Rex merely scoffed.

"Correction, YOU'RE talking..."He said snobbishly.

Both of them glared at the other in the eye. However, before she could voice her distaste, someone else shoved Rex and Gino away and was now in their place, ready to bug her.

It's Mikey the snitch, one of Wolfgang's little cronies, who was giving her a weird look and holding out a hamburger in his hand.

"A burger for a beauty..."Mikey said flirtatiously.

It was then that Helga realized that not only can these morons do not recognize her...they seem to be taken with her.

"Oh no!..."Helga thought in dismay, not liking this at all.

Just then, Rex approached Mikey and with a scowling face, Big Gino also looked peeved too.

"Hey, just what do you think you're doing?! Do you know who I am?!..."Rex angrily yelled at the two interfering boys.

"The better question, friend, is: do you know who I am?!..." Big Gino said in a threatening tone.

"Who cares who you both are?! Get lost!..."Mikey scoffed, angering the two boys.

"What did you say to me, you little shrimp?..."Big Gino angrily retorted at him.

"I'll have you know that I own this art gallery and I was in the middle of speaking with this lovely lady..."Rex said, just as angrily.

"You mean I was!..."Big Gino said, still mad at Rex for interrupting him.

"Pfft...please, I did you a favor..." Mikey scoffed at him... "She clearly wasn't interested in you two clowns..."He said in a mean way.

"What was that?!..."Rex yelled.

"You heard me, Fancy-Pants!..."Mikey said, looking smug.

"Well, I never!..."Rex said in an indignant tone.

"Big talk from some rich snob and a guy who barely reaches my shoulder..."Big Gino added, receiving glares from the two

"Now you listen here, you...you upstart!..."Rex shouted.

"Upstart?!..."The other two yelled and Helga was looking at this with a dumbfounded look on her face.

"Criminy!..."She thought in disbelief as the three boys started fighting.

Using their argument as an opportunity, Helga slowly crept away from them and made her escape. She hid behind one of the sculptures and was still flabbergasted, unable to believe what just went down.

These boys were unknowingly hitting on Helga G. Pataki.

"Am I really that unrecognizable now?..."She asked out loud.

Sure, neither Arnold and Gerald did not recognize her the last time she wore this dress but she thought they were just clueless. Either all boys are dense morons or she really does look a lot different thanks to some make up and a less tomboyish outfit.

"Criminy! This is just my luck!..."Helga thought, as she started to understand Sid and Stinky's behavior earlier.

Unfortunately, she noticed a few other boys looking at her, but were either too intimidated or shy to actually say something to her. Helga did not like this. She only did this to please Arnold. She didn't want a bunch of losers bugging her.

She wanted to find Arnold and fast.

"I better go find the Football Head, before this gets out of hand..."She said.

Unfortunately, more and more boys started following and gathering around her. All of them, even Stinky and Sid, were surrounding her and spending more time with her than the art gallery.

"Hey, what's your name?!..." One boy was heard.

"Are you new here?..." Another asked out loud.

"Need a tour guide? I'd be happy to oblige..."

"You're pretty..."

Those were just some of the things she heard from them as Helga cringed and frowned.

"Hey, back off! I'm warning you!..."She yelled but the boys continued to slowly surround her.

Seriously?! Why are there girls who WANT this?!

Meanwhile

There were two certain girls there, but they weren't there to admire art. They were there to BE admired.

All of the boys were gawking over them and they were enjoying it.

"Wonderful, isn't it Maria?..."Connie asked.

"It is, Connie..."Marie said before both girls laughed in a snooty tone.

Unfortunately for them, it came to an end when some of their admirers noticed something. It was a gathering of boys, all surrounding something...or someone.

"Hey! Who is that?!..."One boy said.

Soon, they all saw the reason why the other boys gathered.

It was a really pretty blonde girl, who seemed to have quite a few admirers of her own. Connie and Maria's admirers, including their on-off boyfriends Tommy and Bert were surprised.

"What are they looking at?..." Connie asked.

"No idea..." Maria said.

Suddenly, the boys who were surrounding the two spoiled girls now walked away from them. This made them more than a little upset.

"What?!..." Connie asked.

"What's going on?!..." Maria shouted.

That's when they saw her. It was someone, a girl younger than them who is getting all of the attention from the guys. That made the two girls eyes narrow at the sight of her.

"Who is that girl?..." Connie pointed towards who was taking their admirers away.

"I don't know..." Maria said. "I've never seen her before..."She added.

The fact that this girl has taken their fanboys away, and doesn't even seem to want them, did not make a good impression on the two.

Not at all.

"I don't like her..." Connie growled.

"I don't like her either..." Maria added.

Both girls frowned before looking to each other in annoyance.

Just who is this girl and why does it look like she's trying to get AWAY from all of her admirers?

What is going on here?!
