A fine day in the kingdom of Enchancia as Sofia and her classmates gathered at the library of the castle to study.
Amber, Khalid, Vivian, Hildegard, James, Cleo and Desmond all gathered around with Sofia being in the middle. They talked lots, most especially with how the subjects would be in the upcoming test
A certain prince however is anxious, trying to think of ways to impress Sofia and earn her respect and blessing
But he was the most shy and introverted person out there. Prince Desmond certainly is a smart boy but he is quite uneducated when it comes to social interactions
Seated beside him is James, who is currently munching down the muffins that Amber made for everyone
"This is not bad Amber" he stated
"And what could you possibly mean by 'not bad'?" Amber responded
James chuckled slightly upon hearing this as he focused his attention back on his book
Suddenly, Desmond moves closer to him
"Hey James, what kinds of stuff does Sofia like?" he whispered
James turned to him with his mouth full
"Sofia? Oh she loves everything as far as I know. She's not like Amber who wouldn't be impressed unless it's a brand new tiara" James whispered back
Desmond paused, trying to think of things and make sense of James' statement.
"No, I want to know things that she GENUINELY enjoys" he whispered again
James didn't pay much attention now as he was busy licking his fingers
"Orf, if you're really that interested, then why don't you ask the people she is with most of the time?" James suggested
Desmond eyes gleamed, finally getting the answer he was looking for
"That's it! Thank you James"
"Try seeking out for Cedric, he's currently in his tower as of this moment. Sofia and him are very good friends"
Desmond nodded as he stood up, which caught the attention of his classmates
"Where are you going, Desmond?" Amber asked
"Oh I'm just gonna go and fetch for some water. I will be back" he answered as he marched straight to the opposite direction
He then headed to the stairs which led to his tower and upon finally reaching the door, he knocked slightly
"Yes, who is it?" A muffled voice spoke from the inside
"Umm, it's me Prince Desmond".
"Prince Desmond? Shouldn't you be studying right now?"
"Well yeah but…"
"Yeah don't answer that"
The door then opens as a certain tall guy appeared before him wearing the robes of a sorcerer
"So, how can I help you?"
Desmond gasped, trying to garner the confidence to speak up
"Well uhhh"
"Well don't just stand there, come on in"
The man spoke as he moved inside which Desmond followed. His room was a mess with canisters and test tubes all over the floor. He also almost slipped upon stepping on a big flask
"Do pardon the mess, my apprentice haven't really been around lately"
"It's alright" Desmond spoke
"So, what's the problem now?" Cedric asked
"Problem?"
"Don't play dumb with me. There is always trouble whenever the little troublemakers gathered with each other. Last year it was a big monkey that I had to shrink with my spell"
"Oh, well that's not really the reason why I came here" Desmond stated
Confusion came to Cedric's face upon hearing that
"No monsters this time?"
"I want you to help me be good friends with Sofia" Desmond uttered
There was a feint silence between the two as Cedric didn't have any response whatsoever
"I believe I might've misheard that, come again?"
"I said I want you to help me be good friends with Sofia."
Cedric heard it one time, he just couldn't believe it at first
"Be good friends with Sofia? You came and interrupted me in the middle of my work just to be good friends with Sofia?"
Desmond nodded
Cedric heaved out a sigh of disbelief upon seeing this. He then stood up and led the boy out without even speaking a word
"Wait Mr. Cedric, I'm serious!" Desmond resisted
"Yes, you are. You're too late for April Fools prince Desmond"
"I want to show appreciation for Sofia! And to be good friends with her" Desmond yelled out of nowhere
Cedric paused.
"Why would you ask me for help of all people?" Cedric asked
"Because I heard you and Sofia are good friends"
"No, we're not"
"Sir Cedric, please" Desmond pleaded
His eyes transpired to the boiling canister in his table. He so wanted to just kick the boy out for interrupting but it might not be a good idea to do that to a prince
"Fine."
xXx
"Like I told you, put this letter on Sofia's table and she should be able to read it"
Cedric began with Desmond in his side. They were currently hiding behind a big statue of armor, hiding from the sight of his classmates
They had been waiting for the right opportunity, and the right opportunity came so as Sofia herself stood up and excused herself from the group
"So just give it to her, right?"
"If you have the confidence on doing so. Looking at you, you seem like you need more glasses of milk. Now off you go" Cedric answered
Desmond gave him a nod
Slowly marching to the others, he tried to not show any hints of suspicion as much as possible.
Suddenly, upon finally reaching the table, they all stood up and upon seeing him
"Desmond, where have you been? We tackled four different topics in your absence" Amber grunted
"Yeah, most of them didn't make sense to me though…" James added
"ha ha ha, you need to pay more attention James" Khalid stated
"Whatever, can we just move on now?" Hildegard interrupted
Desmond got confused upon hearing this
"Wait, where are we going?" he asked
"Well, we decided to go study at the garden to breathe fresh air" Khalid answered
And so they started walking away, which Desmond took as opportunity to slide in the letter on Sofia's book as he followed them
"Wait for me!"
Cedric however was bewildered, where on Merlyn's mushroom world the boy could be going. He then tried to apprehend Desmond but upon reaching the table…
"Hello, Mr. Ceedric!"
A familiar voice can be heard from behind as he slowly turned around
"Oh hello princess Sofia, having a study session I see"
Sofia gave him a genuine smile, But her attention was caught by a certain letter on her book. Upon seeing this, Cedric immediately felt trouble brewing in
"Aww, Mr Ceedric. You gave me a letter!"
And just like that, Cedric's mind exploded with shock
"What! wait that's not m—"
Sofia didn't seem to hear Cedric as she opened the letter and started reading
"Dear Sofia, I just want to let you know that I really want to spend more time with you. I want you to feel appreciated because you had been a great friend" Sofia narrated
Her cheeks turned more pink upon finishing it as she turned to Cedric
"Aww, Mr. Ceedric!"
And she lunged at him with her arms wrapping around his waist. Cedric however was not satisfied, if that Desmond boy only stayed then this misunderstanding wouldn't have happened
"Well, that is certainly very adorable Princess Sofia but you need to know that—"
"I didn't know you felt that way, but no worries Mr. Ceedric. I'll visit you this afternoon" She squealed in delight as she gave him another hug
And again, he was interrupted
"Oh no, not a hug!" Cedric groaned as he slightly pushed her back
Sofia just stared at him for a few moments with a genuine smile on her face which Cedric found really uncomfortable
"Anyways, go run along now. They are on the garden"
Sofia nodded as she took her books with her and ran to the exit. She waved to her favorite sorcerer first before finally disappearing from the hall
And upon disappearing, a certain prince appeared on an another door
"Wait, where's Sofia?"
"You little imbecile!" Cedric grunted in anger
"Why didn't you stick to the plan!?"
"I did! I gave her the letter just as you said" Desmond answered
"Yes, and you left after that. Now she thinks I'm the one who wrote that letter!"
"Oh, that's unfortunate…" Desmond muttered
"You didn't even write your name in it" Cedric added
"What on Merlyn's Mushroom went wrong?"
"I was embarrassed okay? I told you that already" Desmond responded
"Oh great, little Desmond got too embarrassed and now the embarrassment has been passed unto me!" Cedric sarcastically rebuked
Desmond couldn't help but chuckle upon hearing this
"Oh so you think this is funny?" Cedric blurted
"I should make a fake letter with your name in it and send it to Princess Amber for a change"
"No! not Amber please!" Desmond pleaded
And so Desmond went on running to the door, wanting to escape the consequences
Cedric heaved out a sigh as he slowly walked back towards. This was certainly a cursed day for him
xXx
Sofia cheerfully knocked three times on Cedric's door with a smile on her face. She had been very excited for the afternoon after Mr. Ceedric's letter that she wanted the day to just pass quickly
"Oh Mr. Ceedric!"
The door slowly opens as the sorcerer himself appeared with a very nervous expression in his face for some reason
"Oh, it's you Princess Sofia" Cedric greeted hesitantly
He slowly moved away for Sofia to come in
Upon reaching her own personal favorite chair that she hid between his staircase, Sofia sat down with joy in her face
"Mr Ceed—"
"You need to know something… Princess Sofia"
Sofia was stunned hearing this as she bowed down her head
"what's wrong Mr Ceedric?"
"It's CEDRI— anyways that no important now" Cedric blurted
"It's about the letter…"
"Yeah?" Sofia slowly muttered
"It's uhh…"
"No need to be embarrassed Mr. Ceedric" Sofia uttered as she giggled with her eyes closed
Cedric inhaled a whole lot of air as courage
"That letter was not mine, I didn't make it"
Sofia opened her eyes abruptly upon hearing this. Her heart almost sank to the deepest hollows
"W-What? then…" she stuttered
"It was from one of your classmates, I just happened to be there at the right moment" Cedric professed
"I'm very sorry, Princess"
Sofia grew speechless, the pink hue in her cheeks slightly faded as her sea blue eyes drooped
"Oh, I see…" she slowly uttered with gloom
Her disappointment is evident from her face which Cedric felt really bad on. He wanted to make it better somehow
"Isn't that great Princess Sofia? Someone in your school appreciates you!" Cedric stated, trying to cheer up the sad girl
"right…"
Her reaction was dull as usual
"Are you okay, Princess Sofia?"
"Yeah, I'm just…" She slowly mumbled
"I really thought you said you want to spend time with me—"
Sofia then stood up with her face still down of sadness.
"I should go now, Mr. Cedric. I'm feeling kinda tired now…"
And so the young princess waltzed out of his tower. Cedric wanted to reach out but what else could he say.
The misconception was cleared up, but in exchange for this. Cedric felt guilty all over, he wanted to do something for her somehow
Later that night
Sofia was in her bed, still all feeling down about the letter. All the excitement riled up leading for naught in the end
She just wanted to sleep, not wanting to talk to anyone. Somehow, she was a bit mad for Mr Ceedric but it was her who had the wrong idea
Also, he tried to explain it to her earlier but she was just too excited and delighted that she kept cutting him off
And so, she had no right to be mad at her favorite sorcerer. But somehow, she wanted that letter to come from him so badly
Sofia buried her face on her pillow as she covered her body with the blanket.
When all of a sudden…
THUD!
A tapping noise caught her off guard as she stood awake.
Clover, who bolted up was also awakened by the noise
"What was that!" the bunny stated
The noise came from the window, and so Sofia inspected closely and saw a certain paper rolled up floating outside
"Floating?" She whispered to herself
Clover then hopped unto her desk to take a closer look
"Is that a spell?" Clover uttered
Sofia's eyes gleamed in delight upon a certain idea came to her mind
"A spell!"
Without hesitation, she opened the window and the paper fell right on her palms. She fell back on her bed as she opened it
Upon doing so, a certain letter came unto her view
Princess Sofia
I humbly apologize for the fiasco that had happened earlier, I really feel bad for it. I would like to make it up to you, if that's okay. Come to the tower tomorrow and I'll prepare something nice
P.S
I also enjoy your company, Princess Sofia
~Cedric
Sofia's heart was throbbing at a faster rate upon finishing the letter as her face went red all over. She could feel warmth rush up through her face.
She then went to her drawer and kept the letter safe, keeping it away from harm. She decided to add it to her collection, alongside with the other precious gifts that her favorite sorcerer had given her that she had kept safely
Her rosebud lips curves into a smile as she fell back on the bed. She couldn't control her emotions anymore as she then reached out for her pillow which she hugged very tight. Sofia rolled over and over again, making her bed sheet disheveled with her feet unstably shaking from excitement
She was very happy, so so happy.
And so that concludes Sofia's evening as she slowly felt the comfort of her pillow slowly coming up to her with slumber catching up. She slept, with a big smile on her face.
~The End~
