"JJ this isn't optional." I state calmly but a little irritated. We're currently in the car at the airstrip to head back to D.C.
"I don't want to." She whispers scratching her arm. I grab her hand as she tenses to rip it away.
"JJ if you keep doing that, I'm going to have to put the gloves back on." I state firmly.
"No. You can't make me leave and you can't do that." She shots back.
"Kiddo I can and I will carry you onto that plane. I don't want to and I'm hoping you will walk into it but you are getting on to it." I state looking at her. I sit there for a few more moments before I get out and walk to her side. I open the door and unbuckle her and start to pick her up before she stops me.
"Fine just stop. I'll walk." She grumbles. I step back letting her out before shutting the door. The rest of the team is already on the jet. We slowly walk up the stairs with me leading. Luckily the team left the two corner seats open for us. JJ sits down without looking towards the team as they watch us. I nod to them before handing JJ a blanket and sitting down. It's pushing midnight and we have a two hour flight.
"Try to get some sleep." I tell her as she stares out the window. She didn't sleep really last night between the nurses coming in and out and the restraints. She ignores me as I sigh. I see Dave coming towards us with two cups.
"I figured you two could use some tea and scotch." He softly smiles setting the tea down and handing me the scotch. JJ eyes the tea before glancing at me. I softly nod as she quickly yanks the cup close to her chest and going back to the window. I turn to Dave as he sits down in the chair across from me.
"How's Hailey and the kids?" He asks as I take a gulp of the scotch.
"They're good. Derek's finally getting into a rhythm with football again. Penelope's getting in less trouble with her computer skills. Emily's doing better with talking in therapy about last summer. Spencer is thriving in senior year." I state not mentioning Hailey. Dave nods but raises his eyebrow.
"And Hailey?" I sigh looking over to JJ who is engrossed in looking out the window.
"She's fine. She's just stressed and busy. The last two days have been hard." I sigh quietly. He nods looking at JJ. I nod knowing what he's silently asking.
"I would try to get some sleep." He adds towards me but really both of us. I turn towards JJ.
"Why don't you get some sleep. It's a two hour flight and it's late." I state as she pulls the blanket closer to her head.
"I don't sleep." She mumbles. I frown realizing what she's hinting at.
"You're safe right now. You can close your eyes and relax." I state softly. She shakes her head as I sigh.
"No I can't." She whispered super quietly. I sigh knowing I'm not going to win this battle without her painkillers. Doctor Rimes has her on the asthma medication, nutritional supplements, and painkillers for the bruising around her body. She also has a hip that had been dislocated and didn't heal properly. She needs her asthma medicine anyways so I grab it out of the bag and her painkillers.
"Here's some pain meds and you need your asthma medicine." I state as she glares at me. She luckily takes the painkillers but brushes the nebulizer off. I shake my head at her as I hand it to her. She doesn't move so I stand up and proceed to put it on her as she struggles. I see the teams eyes on us as I look behind me. I sigh going over to talk to Jason and Dave but keeping my eye on JJ. She's on suicide watch for the first few days because she has self harm indications.
"How's she doing?" Jason asks quietly.
"It's rough. She's showed signs of self harm yesterday and we found marks of various stages in healing. She also has bruising all over which indicates sexual abuse." I sigh running my hands through my hair.
"Hailey doesn't want her. I have to find a compatible and stable home. I told Hailey it's only a few days and I called Kate already." I add angrily. I know finding a good home for her is going to be almost impossible.
"I can call some contacts who might be able to find a place for her." Jason offers as Dave agrees.
"Thanks guys." I smile softly seeing JJ finally asleep peacefully for now.
"How are you?" Jason asks. I sigh knowing I can't lie to them.
"I'm terrified for her because I know what the streets do to a kid and I can't stand the idea of her not being in Hailey's and I care because of everything that are indicators of her past." I state firmly frustrated.
