The day passed slowly for Bella, the teachers had been a pests each asking Bella to remove her sunglasses when she clearly stated that she had a headache and the fluorescent lighting worsened it.
She managed to get away with it for today without a note but she was sure they would be making sure tomorrow.
Mike and Angela were her saving grace they cheered her up, Mike even sneaking her snacks each class they had together, her hangover subsided by the second period already, but the snacks filled up her empty stomach she knew she ate a lot but she's been eating much more than usual.
On her way to lunch she bumped into Alice she didn't see the tiny vampire to caught up about thinking been about getting Jacobs truck back from the warehouse before billy found something fishy.
"Ooomph" she mumbled , glancing down she saw the cold pale wall she walked into nearly knocking the pixie off her feet literally—she caught her by her shoulders just in time to prevent what would've a very unexplainable dent in the floors of the school.
"Alice if you wanted me to hold you all you had to is ask" she quipped holding the vampire steady around her shoulders —she heard the girl wince from the impact but ignored it surly it didn't hurt that much right?.
"Tsk you giant oaf! look where you're walking"she admonished
"Ouch and here I thought we were friends"She teased, she saw the smile curl up on the tiny vampires lips.
"We are... but you did an incredibly stupid thing yesterday so I'm not talking to you and I'm angry at you" Bella rolled her eyes and turned the girl in the direction of the lunch room.
"Two things : Now I know that's a lie because you're talking to me right now" she counted off on her fingers " and two? You left your family to come look for me since you know what my last class is , and you were walking in that direction" motioning with her head "now really sweetheart you know I love you and all but we've both got incredible partners so no I can't go under the bleachers to make out, I just can't do that to My peanut" she said with a amused smirk.
Alice rolled her eyes ignoring the last comment but she couldn't argue with Bella's logic because okay yes, she was on her way to find the girl but the enchantress had been lost in her own world and didn't see her and then bumped into her. She couldn't lie even though her own body was as dense as every other vampire out there Bella's own felt like walking into steel.
"Hmmph." She replied immaturely.
"Alice" Alice relented , she knew she came to see Bella for a reason .. she looked up to the girl who wore a curious expression. She pulled her by the hand, leading them away from the cafeteria doors.
"Hey ? Why are going outside? I'm hungry..." she whined but let herself be pulled by the tiny vampire.
Once they were outside she felt the cold air on her skin, it felt oddly refreshing better than Alice's cold hand in her own. She looked up to the skies , the perpetual cloud clover in forks were truly a blessing to the vampires she mused. That thought reminded her of the spell she was been working on—well before the entire James thing she wanted to do something that would allow Rosalie walk out in the sun without worrying about her skin reflecting like diamonds.
At first she thought about a sun ring , an enchanted ring but then her conversation with Rosalie happened about how she misses her heartbeat, with that in mind she then decided to do something completely different but then the James debacle happened and she wasn't able to finish the spell.
"Bella are you listening?"
"Hmm?" She tuned back into Alice , who huffed in annoyance at her.
"God listen to me Bella this is important, I need to know what's going on ... I thought knowing what you are would make my visions happen easier , clearer ... but are you still blocking me?"
Bella furrowed her eyebrows at the question, she never blocked Alice— well aside from not make any decisions or planning anything to prevent the seer from seeing her future.
"No .. well not since I told you everything actually"
Alice huffed again, she ran her fingers through her spiky hair. "Then why am I not seeing anything? You're standing right in front of me but every time I look for your future is blank.. fuzzy like there's this ... there's this dark cloud hanging over you and every time I force myself to look any further it all just goes away!" She said frustratedly waving her hands around as she ranted .
Bella leaned against the wall, she stared at the pixie vampire pacing up and down trying to find an answer. Muttering to herself about the only time that one of thing happens is when the person is dead.
"So you're saying it's like I don't exist? Or I'm dead ? But what ... what about trying to see me with Rose ? What happens then?"
Alice stopped her rapid pacing and looked back to Bella with sigh. "The same" she breathed out.
"And when I'm not with her ?"
Alice went quiet and closed her eyes trying to find Rosalie in her visions —she saw the girl pick at her lunch before deciding to come look for Bella then it goes dark again.
"Urgh..." she holds her forehead with grimace, Bella standing before her with a worried expression.
"What? Tell me Alice ?"
"Everything was fine up till she decided to look for someone I guess that's someone is you since it's just went black again" Bella slumped slightly.
She didn't know what was happening , her eyes and now this, inhaling a deep breath "what ... when did this start happening?"
Alice felt just like Bella did , she didn't tell anyone else about it —never mind Rose the two already needed to talk no need to pack on more before they know what's happening.
"Yesterday"
"During my fight with James?"
Alice nodded at the question but Bella was confused if she was able to see the fight and clearly know where Bella was since the entire Cullen family arrived at the warehouse moments after Bella ended James.
"But you guys came to the warehouse?"
Alice nodded "yeah because I wasn't looking into your future—but James , and I managed to describe the warehouse and place from my visions so we got a match" she explained.
"I don't know what to tell you Alice" she shrugged "I don't know what's happening either"
Alice bit her lip before she could respond heels clacked on the concrete surface.
"What don't you know what's happening ?" Alice's eyes widened before looking back to Bella who had a smile on her face but she could see the enchantress was conflicted on whether on sharing the information with Rose or not. She probably didn't want to worry the blonde either.
Deciding to leave the couple she gave Bella a look "Tell her" she said walking away leaving the couple alone.
"Tell me what?" Bella sighed at the firmness in that tone, the underlying message was clear 'no more lies' Bella heard it loud and clear so she motioned Rosalie to follow her . This conversation wasn't one for school plus she could get Jacobs truck —killing two birds with one stone and all that jazz.
"Bella I'm not going anywhere with you until you tell me why my sister and mate are conferring outside school during lunch period when they're supposed to be inside that building" she stayed in place.
"She wanted to make out under the bleachers but it was occupied?" She joked.
Rosalie scoffed unbelievably at the ridiculous attempt of a joke.
"Not buying it , try again"
"Rosalie I promise I'll tell you what you want to hear just let's go my car okay? I need to go get something I forgot yesterday" she said walking off, she worried Rosalie wouldn't follow but she felt relief at the clacking of heels on the paving.
As soon as they were inside the car —Bella left the parking lot quickly—she pulled onto the road and lead them out of forks.
After a few moments of silence Rosalie decided to breach the topic again
"Well?" She prompted with a brow raised in Bella's direction.
Bella didn't take her eyes off the road instead she pursed her lips giving Rosalie a slight shrug " well your sister decided to corner me after class when I was on my way to lunch about some problems she's been having"
"Problems? And why would she come to you and not to Jasper?" She asked knowing there was more to the story than what Bella was telling her.
"Firstly I'm offended... I'm her best friend of course if she has problems she can talk to me Rosalie"
"But that's not all is it?"
"Haizz no it isn't, the problem she's been having? Well that's all my doing apparently. She thought I was blocking her visions with my magic which I am not by the way and never did ... however, she's become worried because instead of seeing me she sees this cloud covering me or whatever but then it just goes black for some reason" she described it as best as she could with herself still being confused by what it could all mean.
Processing the information quietly Rosalie gazed out her own window , what Alice said was concerning and since the Cullen family largely depended on her gift to ensure their safety, it could be a problem but more than that why was Bella's future cloudy or just black that was the bigger issue.
"Do you know why it's happening?"
Bella snorted shaking her head "you're asking me ? I don't even know why my eyes are two different colors all of a sudden"
"Then what do you know?" She asked impatiently "Since when has this even been happening and why did she only tell you about it now?"
"Yesterday ... it started yesterday" she said , spotting the red gravel road she turned off onto yesterday. "and I assume she was waiting on an opportune time to tell me.."
Rosalie sighed loudly this time , everything confused her Bella's eye color now the visions why couldn't things just be simple for once? Not to mention time traveling and magic! god it was like every time she had some balance with her mate something else happens to tip the scales.
"Why isn't anything ever easy with you?" She questioned somewhat tiredly when the car came to a stop.
Bella gave her a toothless grin "when has easy ever been fun though?" She didn't wait for a response instead she walked over to the passenger door and opened it.
"Bella if this is your idea of second romantic date...then I have to question your sanity and revisit the idea of us spending eternity together" she said dryly, looking at their surroundings just now noticing that they were back at the place where James was killed.
Bella furrowed her eyebrows before she laughed loudly.
"No .. it's not but you do have to drive my car back to forks"she said after sobering up
"Why?"
"Because I asked nicely and you're my mate but the actual reason is that" she pointed to the truck standing a few feet away "Unless you prefer to drive that rust bucket over there ?"
Bella nearly laughed at the disgust on Rosalie's face at the mere mention of her driving that death trap. She smiled with satisfaction smugness coloring her tone.
"I thought so" she quipped.
She headed over to the truck with gusto —she didn't look forward to driving the machine but if she wanted things to appear normal for her dad she needed too , especially if she wanted to keep her escapades a secret. Her mind added as an afterthought 'And the murder you committed'
' is it even murder if the person murdered was technically dead to begin with?' She thought —well whatever it counted as she didn't need or want her father to know until it was absolutely necessary.
"We still need to have that talk Bella" she heard from the car.
She sighed and nodded her head she gave the girl a look over her shoulder
"And we will , tonight okay?"
