"My family belongs to that tribe…" whispered Isadore.
"Oh no…" said Cubbos, feeling sorry for Isadore.
"The area surrounding the Silas tribe is a slum area… It's surrounded in all sides, and they're probably going to place the explosives in the slum area, which is going to kill lots of innocent souls!" said Jakos, realizing that if he let this go through, the worst would happen.
"That's even worse…We can't let that happen!" said Isadore.
"What do we do?" asked Cubbos.
Without them knowing, someone found their hiding spot and recognized exactly who they were.
"Well, well, well" said the man from behind them "Look who it is… The two criminals that escaped and humiliated me and…" there was a small pause as he realized who the other girl was "Miss Isadore? I'm not surprised…"
By this time, you would have guessed who this mysterious man is…
"Count De Hook!" shouted Cubbos. The other two were surprised too, when they saw the tall man behind them.
The Count called the guards to take the "criminals" to dungeons… again. But before anything could happen, Jakos quickly grabbed Isadore's and Cubbos's hand and started running, escaping and saving themselves, yet again. Seeing this infuriated the Count, and so he called the guards to chase after them.
It was a high-speed chase, with the guards right on their tails. No matter how fast they ran and how many twists and turns they took, the guards somehow managed to still be behind them.
"Guys! Follow me!" said Isadore as she ran towards a room that was hidden behind a flower vase. The group watched as the guards ran past them without knowing that the very people, they were chasing were hiding right beside them.
"Whew…" sighed Jakos. "That was close"
"Yeah… But how do we get out?" asked Isadore.
"We'll get caught!" said Cubbos.
"I have an idea… Isadore will go in front of us, and will tell us if the coast is clear" said Jakos.
Hearing this, Isadore's expression turned into a nervous one. She opened her mouth to deny it, but was stopped by Jakos.
Holding her shoulders and pulling her a bit closer, he started speaking. "Look, I know we've known each other for only like, one or two days, but I know that you have what it takes to do this. You can easily sneak past everyone, you're agile and fast. You're special, I can see it in you" he said, staring straight into her eyes without a hint of hesitance in his voice or eyes.
Just hearing those words not only made Isadore's confidence shoot high up to the sky, but also made her heart beat really fast. Their faces were very close, so close that they could feel each other taking breaths. Blood was rushing to her face, and the room just seemed to get warmer. She tried to get some words out, but nothing came out.
Finally, she managed to get some words out, but not without being a stuttering mess. "I-uh-I well you- I mean- I can do it but- well you see… I can but um ya…"
"Well then, lead the way, m'lady" he said as he let go of her. She did as she was instructed, and snuck ahead and motioned that it was safe to go.
Without Isadore noticing, Cubbos quickly dropped a dialogue.
"I know what you did there…"
"I don't know what you're talking about, mon amie…" smirked Jakos.
Slowly, they reached the front of the palace. But there was one small problem… The guards who were at the front of the palace. How were they going to surpass them? But of course! Jakos and Cubbos always have a solution! For Isadore's surprise, there was a door disguised as part of the wall that was made so that Jakos and Cubbos could easily sneak in and out of the palace.
"Wow… You guys are really smart!" complimented Isadore, as she was truly impressed at what heights these young men would do for the well-being of the people.
"Why thank you!" said Cubbos, as the three made their way back to the house. They decided to eat lunch, as they hadn't eaten anything in the morning, and after that they would decide what to do.
"So… What's the next plan?" asked Cubbos, as he finished up his food.
"I'm thinking we should warn the leader of the Silas tribe. Maybe they could help us!" suggested Jakos.
"That's easier said than done… Convincing the leader, my grandmama, is easy. But the council isn't like her. They're…" Isadore couldn't find the right words to describe them.
"Hard-headed?" came a response from Cubbos.
"Stubborn?" came another from Jakos.
"Exactly!" exclaimed Isadore, which made everyone laugh.
"Well then you're going to have to convince them" said Jakos.
"Wait, why me? Honestly, I think that I'm the last person they're going to listen to" said Isadore, thinking back to the many times she caused trouble for the tribe.
"Because you yourself are a member of that tribe, so they'd trust you more than me or Cubbos… And you're going to have to try…" said Jakos.
"Yeah, you're right…" agreed Isadore.
"Well, we can leave in the evening…" said Cubbos. "Until then, I'm going to go take a nap" he said, while letting out a small yawn.
"I am going to-" Jakos was cut off by Cubbos and Isadore.
"The training room?" the both of them said together.
"Yup!" Jakos said.
"And I'm going to wash these dishes" said Isadore, trying to make herself useful as she had nothing else to do.
After doing her chores, she decided to take a bath. But the thing is, she had no other clothes to change into. She knew that Cubbos was asleep, so she didn't want to disturb him. So, she decided to go to Jakos, who was busy practicing his fencing.
"Um… Jakos?" she asked, peeking through the door of the room. She found him fighting the dummy, graciously swinging his épée with passion in his eyes. As soon as he heard Isadore's voice, his concentration was lost. His épée slipped out of his hand and the dummy spun around really quick, knocking Jakos to the ground.
"Oh no! Are you okay? I am so sorry!" said Isadore, quickly rushing towards him to help him up.
"No, no… I'm fine. I just slipped" he said, truthfully. Thankfully, nothing actually happened. "What happened? The sudden visit?"
"Well, I wanted to ask you if you had any extra clothes I could borrow?" Isadore asked, as she helped up Jakos.
"Yeah, I do… Though they might be a bit too big for you… And plain. We only wear a white shirt and black jeans" he said as he led her to his room.
"Oh, that's ok" Isadore said. 'I guess he thinks that I have high standards…' she thought.
"Here you go" said Jakos, handing her a set of his clothes.
"Thanks!" said Isadore, heading towards the bathroom.
She quickly finished her bath, and came out wearing the clothes Jakos gave her. By the time she finished, Cubbos had woken up from his sleep and Jakos had stopped his fencing. They were both in the living room when Isadore came in there.
"How do I look?" she asked, not expecting a joke as an answer. And she was right!
"As beautiful as the Northern Lights, m'lady" joked Jakos, which made everyone laugh. He actually meant it, but the others didn't need to know that, did they?
The sleeves of her shirt were way too long, so she rolled them up which made them look poofy. Her shirt was a bit too long, but it was ok for her, so she didn't tuck it in. Her jeans were not as bad as the shirt, as it fit her waist perfectly. Only the ends of the jeans were too long for her, so she rolled them up. Overall, it was a shabby yet cute look which surprisingly suited her. She kinda liked it.
"Now we all look alike!" said Cubbos.
"Haha, yeah we do… But we should get going" said Jakos.
"Off we go!" said Cubbos.
They did as they planned, and went to the area of the Silas tribe.
In the middle of the area was the central hall, which was where all the discussions take place. And right next to it if the home of the leader, or chief of the tribe, who was also the grandmother of Isadore. She loved her only granddaughter very much, and was the only one who supported and understood her when it came to what Isadore liked.
Surrounding the central hall was the house of all the other members of the tribe, which were built from bricks and painted a beautiful sage green color. Each house had one or two floors; with all the luxuries you could ask for! But our dear Isadore had to go to her grandmother and tell her about the situation they were in.
Her grandmother, named Kai, was at her garden. Isadore quickly found her there, meditating.
"Isa? I know you're there…" said Kai, as she heard Isadore's footsteps.
"Grandmama! You always know…" she said, as she came out from behind a tree.
"You went missing for a few days, dear… I wasn't worried, but tell me, where were you?" asked Kai, as she thought of how furious and worried her parents were when they returned from the ball.
"That's what I want to talk to you about, grandmama…," said Isadore. She explained everything, not leaving out a single detail.
"Oh my… That really is bad…"
