Kagome was walking on the path to a near by village. She was going to visit a miko, Kaede. While walking she would stop when she saw medical herbs or to talk to a villager, who was passing by. Kagome was a powerful miko and was well known in the villages near by. Very few people would travel afar seeking her help. Some for blessings, to fix a curse or to get rid of demons plaguing their villages. Miko Kaede was once a little girl who she had trained and guided.
Kagome had found the young miko wondering at the edges of Inuyasha's forest. The young girl had lost her parents and knew little of her powers, so Kagome had taken Kaede under her wings and trained her to be a miko for the village. Fifty years had passed since then. The young girl she once knew was no more, instead a wise young woman was present. Kagome was always sad when the children she had taken into her care left and went to find their way in the outside world. Most of the human children would return to visit her and the demons and hanyos would visit her whenever they were passing by. Sometimes even visiting her to introduce their mates and children.
She was happy when ever they visited. The children would sometimes meet the others she had taken in over the years they had left. So far she had adopted thirty six humans, all who had now passed away and fifteen demons, all were still roaming the earth. Ten of them had mates and children, all introduced to her when they visited. The rest had made a live for themselves and had visited her from time to time. Three of them were hanyos. Two of them were killed, while the last one had remained with Kagome until she reached the age of twenty and made a life in the village where Lady Kaede resided.
Kagome could see the village over the hill. It was peaceful and quiet. Villagers were working in the fields, some were doing chores and the little children were playing. She walked down the path of the village and was soon crowded with a few children who had seen her coming.
"Lady Kagome, Lady Kagome," the children shouted as they each tried to grab her hands to guide her to Kaede. Kagome smiled at them and let the children guide her to Lady Kaede. Villagers waved at her and a few laughed at the children's behavior.
Lady Kaede had met them half way of their walk through the village. The priestess was wearing the traditional clothing of a miko and carried a bow and arrows on her back. She smiled at the sight of the woman who was once her mentor and had stand in as her mother and father, when her birth parents had been killed. She was once like the children who had crowded around Kagome. Full of life and was enthusiastic to be around the older miko, Kagome.
Kagome was seated in Kaede's hut, sipping tea from the cup she was offered.
"How are you Kaede?" she asked the other miko.
"I'm alright, just happy to be helpful in the village," Kaede replied with a soft smile.
"Is everything okay in the village, no demons causing troubles or humans?"
"No no, everything's been peaceful, well there is something that was peculiar that happened a few days ago," Kaede answered.
"Oh, what happened?" Kagome asked.
"A hundred lower level demons had passed over the village. They all had looked to be fleeing from something or maybe someone." the village's Miko stated.
"I'm guessing that you felt that evil aura that was around a few days ago?" Kagome asked in a serious voice.
"Yes, it was strong and had a few demons running," replied Kaede.
Kagome sighed and looked at Kaede.
"Trouble is coming. It seems that an evil demon has been born," she said to Kaede.
"I'm not sure what it is, but time will tell. You should be on your guard and warn the villagers to be careful when leaving the village to hunt or to run errands in other near by villages," Kagome warned the miko, who was once her student.
"Do not spread news of me or let whispers of me leave the village. It might become dangerous if the demon knows about me or about you." she said.
"Hai, Lady Kagome," Kaede responded, getting up from her seat on the floor of the hut to go to the fields.
Kagome smiled and followed Lady Kaede to the fields where the medical herbs were grown. She started to help Kaede with picking and manning the field.
Inuyasha was running through the forest when he smelled the scent of blood. He ran in the direction and saw that blood had covered the forest floor in a clearing.
Inuyasha had left his brother's territory to visit Kagome. He had felt the evil youki and had left right away to see Kagome. Inuyasha was an Inu yokia, well half Inu, half human. His father was a full demon and his mother was a human. Both of his parents had died when he was young, so his older half brother had taken him to where his father had once resided. He was shunned for most of his life, but only had been accepted after he had met Kagome. The village had accepted him once Kagome had told them that she had trusted him and he shown the villagers he ment no harm. He was very thankful that he had met her.
The blood on the ground was fresh and had only been here for half an hour. He smelled a fox demon and a kit, along with two thunder yokias. He ran in the direction of the yokias smell lingered and was being led to the village where Kaede, a child and miko Kagome had adopted resided in. He knew a few hours of running would lead him to the forest they called his. He smelled the scent of fear that most likely belonged to the young fox demon. He ran even faster to reach the two thunder yokias and the kit.
