A/N: TW- Involves fatality of an unborn fetus. Just a brief mention in this chapter, but still want to put that out there for anyone who may be upset by that. Next chapter will have a pretty graphic scene. I will put several lines of dashes and page breaks so that those who wish to skip that part can.

Thanks for all the reviews so far, they make my day!

No no no no no. This was not happening. How did they find him? His transfer was supposed to have been kept quiet. His transfer from Vancouver was so that he could get away from this gang. He was responsible for putting their leader behind bars. He cam out here to start over, to get away from that.

"How did you find me?" His voice barely above a whisper, his body shaking with rage.

"Not important. What is important, is that your wife has something to tell you."

Muffled voices were heard, some footsteps, and the sound of a hand getting smacked across someone's face. A strangled cry came over the phone loudly, and then the terrified voice of his wife came over the line. "Lukas? Help me please. Please help me!"

"I don't know what you want, but whatever it is, tell me and I will make it happen." Lukas quickly ran around to the drivers side of the SUV before flipping on the lights and sirens and sped out of the parking lot.

"You know what we want. You know what we want. If you're not here in the next ten minutes, the bitch dies."

A pleading tone taking over Lukas' voice, he begged the man on the other end of the phone. "No! Please, I can't make it there in ten minutes, I am all the way across town. Please, give me time to get there before you do anything. I'm on my way right—"

A shot rang out in the background, and the line went dead. Lukas dropped his phone to the floor as he yelled out in agony and beat the dashboard with the hand that was not gripping the steering wheel.

His foot slammed the gas even harder, wishing he was closer. Tears began streaming down his face. He made a vow that he would never let another cop go through this. He knew what he had to do. He hoped Team One, his family, and most importantly, his daughter Kira, would forgive him for what he was about to do.

Sam walked out of the coffee shop, a cup in each hand. Glancing at the parking lot, confusion and worry building inside him. The SUV was gone. He would surely have heard if a hot call had come in. Setting the coffees down on a table, Sam pulled out his phone and called Jules.

"Hey, we didn't get a call, right?"

"No, why? Is everything ok?" Jules' voice displaying the bewilderment she felt.

"The SUV is gone. I stopped for coffee, and left Lukas sitting inside. But now it's just gone."

As Jules was about to respond, Winnie's voice came over the radio. "Team One, hot call! Ten thirty-three Adelaide. Apartment number four twenty-six. Neighbors called in saying armed intruders forced entry, screams were heard and then a gun shot." Winnie took a breath before delivering the next part of her information. "Guys, the address is the one on file for Lukas."

"Ed, I'm gonna need a ride, Lukas must have gotten a call or something and took off. I'm at the Timmy's on Bloor."

"Copy that. Spike and Leah, pick up Sam. Colt and I will head to the." Ed's commanding voice kicked the team into overdrive. "Jules, have someone from Team Five bring the command truck to the scene."

Jules opened her mouth to protest, and as if Sam had read her mind, she was cut off by Sam's serious tone. "Jules, listen to him, please. If it's the crew from the briefing this morning, You coming to the scene is not safe."

Frustrated by not being able to help her teammate, but realizing the truth behind Sam's statement, called for one of the guys from Team Five to drive the command truck to the scene. Jules settled in the briefing room, looking up any and all information she could find on the gang, and on Lukas and his wife. "Ed, I'll feed you on the fly. Want me to call Wordy?"

"Negative Jules. Let's wait and see what is going on."

Ed began talking a tac plan, instructing Winnie to have the unis block off a perimeter and tell the neighbors to stay inside with their doors locked.

Jules gasped audibly, and spoke in a shaky voice. "Guys, Lukas transferred from Vancouver three years ago. Looks like he moved due to taking down the leader of La Pas. I'm gonna call his C.O. and see what I can find out.

" Good work Jules. We just arrived on scene. Looks like Lukas already beat us here. Spike, what's your ETA?" Ed was all business scanning for sniper perches, and getting out the gear he thought they would need. "Colt, grab a shield. Let's head up to the apartment and see if we can get these guys talking." The other temporary member nodded in acknowledgement to Ed's order.

"Ok guys, apartment is on red wall. Ed, looks like an office building across the street that would be good for a sierra shot." Sam looked over the blue prints, feeding Ed the necessary information.

"That's good Samo. You take Sierra One. Spike, I need you in the truck. See what you can find on these guys and see if you can get some pictures for us. Leah, on entry and act as Sierra Two. Colt you cover me. I will try to talk this out."

The second SUV came to a screeching halt beside the first. The three constables exited the vehicle and set to work on obtaining the equipment they would need. Little talking was had as they quickly worked, hoping that everything was okay with their co-worker and his family.

"Hey Jules, do we have an address on file for Lukas' mom? He mentioned earlier that he dropped his daughter off with her before coming in to shift today. We should get some unis over there to make sure they are safe." Sam spoke over the headset as he bounded up the stairs to his sniper perch. He was begging whatever higher powers existed that he wouldn't need to take the sierra shot on anyone today.

Back at the HQ, Jules worked in the briefing room, pulling up the police records on Lukas. His record was spotless. He was an excellent cop. As she tried to pull up his transfer request, she found that the file was sealed. She sighed heavily, and leaned back in her chair.

"Ed I'm gonna have to call his old C.O. his transfer request paperwork is sealed. Other than that he is a pretty good cop."

"Thanks Jules. Winnie did you find an address for his mother?"

"Just got it, sending over a squad car now." The dispatcher was fully focused on the job at hand, seemingly anticipating everything Ed would need.

Jules turned to Winnie and let her know she was going to call Vancouver to get more information, and had her patch in the call to the headsets.

After a few rings, a booming voice answered the phone. "Sargent Donovan."

Taken aback by the familiar moniker that rolled off her tongue, Jules stuttered over her words a bit. "Sarge... Uh, I mean, Sargent Donovan, This is Officer Jules Callaghan with the Toronto SRU. I was hoping you had a few minutes to talk."

"Yea, whats it about?"

"Lukas Kramer. He was transferred out here and is currently on Team One, but we have a bit of a situation here."

"What kind of situation?" A hint of worry crept into the voice on the other end of the line.

"Well, Lukas was on shift today, and he left one of his team mates at a Timmy's at the same time that a 9-1-1 call was made to his address for armed intruders with reports of shots fired." Taking a breath, and a quick sip of water, Jules continued on. "We are trying to figure out if there is any sort of connection to anybody that Lukas has crossed paths with. I tried to pull up his transfer paperwork but it is sealed. Is there anything you can tell me about the details surrounding the reason for him transferring almost four-thousand-five-hundred kilometers?"

A huff was heard on the other end. "I'm not supposed to tell anybody the details surrounding it."

Irritation evident in her voice, Jules pressed the man for more information. "Look, I get it. You want to protect your guy. But right now, Lukas is inside his apartment with armed intruders. We are trying to get him out safely. If you want to help, I need you to start talking."

"Okay, fine. Just try to get him out safe. He's a damn good cop." A short pause left the seconds feeling like minutes. "There was a new gang that was starting to take hold here in Vancouver. The La Pas gang. Brutal guys. Anyway, Lukas was off duty, in plain clothes, out for a run. He heard a couple gunshots, and headed to see what was up. He called it in immediately so unis had made it out there pretty fast. The leader had shot his pregnant ex. Apparently, the ex dumped him once she found out about what he does, and then started dating a cop. There was two gun shot wounds- one in the abdomen, the other in the head, execution style. Lukas busted them all before they could get away."

"So Lukas has a target on his back from the La Pas gang. He doesn't feel safe in Vancouver, especially because he has a wife and young daughter. So he transfers here in the hopes that this gang won't be able to find him." Jules spoke the ending, her stomach doing flip flops at the thought of someone hurting Sam by killing her and their unborn baby. A wave of nausea suddenly hit. Jules ripped away her headset as she lost her lunch in the nearest trash can she could find.

She took a moment to compose herself, swishing the foul taste out of her mouth with a swig of water. "So, the La Pas gang has moved east and are close to Toronto. So you think it is possible that they found Lukas?" Jules already knew the answer to her question.

"Definitely. They are a small gang. Four guys were arrested thanks to Lukas. There is about twenty or so other guys. Risky business killing wives of cops, and they aren't big into recruiting new members either. I know that a few members have been caught in a few other cities, so we are hopefully getting close to ending this thing."

Jules thanked the sergeant and hung up the phone. A defeated sigh escaped her lips. This was not good.
