Kurt stepped back and exhaled. A tiered smile spreading on his face. Blaine was okay, he was going to go home and take care of his child. The people were now preparing to leave when he stopped them. He could hear a Blaine's voice, as if warning him. Kurt ducked his head, smiled and looked up. "I, um, I just wanted to say sorry for losing my temper multiple times, and thank you for putting up with me. I really couldn't do this without you all. So, is there anything I can do to make it up to all of you?"
There were shocked faces and smiles around the room. "It's okay, just buy us some doughnuts and coffee." A nurse said. Kurt chuckled and nodded. "Consider it done. You all head down to the cafe, order anything you want, it's all on me, tell other nurses and doctors as well." They grinned and raced to the cafe. Kurt looked down at the operating table, it was now empty since they transferred Blaine to a room for recovery. He smiled and left the room.
Kurt was planning to visit Blaine but he found himself walking towards the NICU. He stood outside and crossed his arms on his chest. Looking through the glass window. Then he saw a familiar infant. She was getting heated up, she had gained more color, Kurt could see familiar black curls on her head. He laughed quietly and left.
He attended to other patients before visiting Blaine, wanting him to be conscious when he does so. He received some smiled and thanks from the nurses and doctors who seemed to be enjoying their pastries and coffees.
Then when the hospital was back to normal he finally visited Blaine. He was already awake, just staring on the wall. Kurt quickly knocked on the door and poked his head out. Blaine seemed to light up when he saw Kurt. "Hey."
"Hey you." Kurt responded. "Can I come in?"
"Of course."
"So how are you feeling?"
"Like I have been stabbed." Kurt laughed and Blaine grinned.
"I have a surprise for you."
"Oh?" Blaine sat up a bit straighter, intrigued.
"You can come in now!" Kurt called. And a nurse with a plastic bassinet came in the room.. Blaine tearfully laughed and made grabby hands towards the bassinet. Kurt laughed and carefully picked up the baby and handed it to Blaine.
"Oh god she has my curls, good luck with that princess."
Kurt laughed and stared at the baby. "She's beautiful Blaine." Kurt ran his finger on her knuckles, he was took by surprise when she grabbed his finger. "Oh."
"I think she likes you." Kurt nodded and starred at her. Then Kurt looked at Blaine, their faces were inches apart, he was staring at Kurt with awe. Kurt cleared his throat and backed away al little. "So what are you naming her?"
Blaine frowned. "I don't know yet, do you have a suggestion?"
Kurt's eyes widened. "You're going to allow me to name your baby?"
"If you have one then yes, you kind of saved my life, thanks by the way."
"You're welcome." Kurt smiled.
"So..?"
"How about Demetria? Demi for short?"
Blaine's eyes softened. "That's beautiful. Uh, What does it mean?"
"Greek goddess responsible for winter." Blaine laughed. Kurt's heart swelled at the melodic sound. "It's perfect. Beautiful, and unique."
"Just like her." Kurt finished.
Blaine nodded in agreement and looked up at Kurt. "And so are you." Kurt blushed and ducked his head, letting out a small chuckle. "She's lucky to have a father like you, I wished I had someone like you when I was growing up." Blaine quirked his eyebrow. Kurt sighed and sat down on the chair on the side of the bed.
"My parents died, when I was 10." Kurt said as he looked at the ground.
"How? If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't. Their car slipped on ice and they crashed on a tree." Kurt saw Blaine winced, and he offered a reassuring smile. "I was moved from house to house, family to family. It kind of broke me. Then I settled in a family. The couple were dirty rich and they kind of neglected me but I didn't mind, I was still living luxuriously. Then I found my adoptive fathers medical books and I decided to be a doctor, so that kids like me don't get flung from house to house." Kurt wiped the tear rolling down his cheeks. He let out a teary laugh. Blaine grabbed Kurt's hand and gave it a little squeeze.
"Do you miss them?"
"Everyday. I miss my dad, and those times he would try to get me watch football but I would just end up snuggling with my mom and we would scan through the newest Vogue magazine. I miss my mom, and how she would sing to me and paint my nails when I was upset." Kurt smiled at the memories.
"What were their names?"
"Burt and Elisabeth Hummel." Blaine nodded and let go of Kurt's hand to run his finger on Demi's face. "Demetria Elis Anderson, I like it."
Kurt's eyes widened and his jaw hang open. "Why would you do that? You already named her after my request, now you're naming her after my mom?"
Blaine just shrugged. "I wouldn't be here picking out names if it weren't for you. Plus, I know how you can make up for me naming my child after your mom and your request."
"Saving your life wasn't enough?" He asked with a smirk.
"It is, but you know... I'm just making an excuse to take you to a date."
Kurt stared at Blaine, once again his mouths hung open and his eyes were wide. After a few minutes of silence,Blaine getting nervous, Kurt finally answered.
"Okay." Blaine grinned and so did Kurt. They stared at each other's eyes. They were filled with awe and promises of a future.
