THE WISE WOLF CHAPTER 3:
*Greek in Bold Italics (Just this Section)
Adira's POV:
We make it up to the top of the cliff. Its kind of high but nothing I can't handle. "I'm jumping." I told the guys.
"Its dangerous. You'll get hurt." Jacob says.
"Trust me I'll be fine. I've gone from higher with camp."
"Fine" Sam says, knowing he won't win.
"Are you jumping in your clothes?" Sam asks.
"Its either this or a swim suit. Therefore, I choose clothes." I respond. I don't want them to see my scar that runs from my right hip to my left shoulder. I got it from a hellhound who scratched my back leaving scars. They give me a weird look but leave it.
I step back and run. I do a double front flip and land into the water. I stay under for a minute and kick up to the surface. I watch as Jared and Embry throw Jacob off the cliff. Eventually all of the boys and I jump a few times. WE head back to the house where Emily made food.
"Adi, come on you've got to grab your food before the guys." Emily told me.
"Oh, no worries. I'm not really hungry. I'm actually going to go call my New York friend. I promised I would her I would not forget to call her." I told.
"Ok sweetie. Are you sure? You did not eat much this morning."
"Don't worry about me Em. Trust me, I'm fine." I told her.
I went to my room while the boys ate. I don't have a cell phone because even with my ring, that would still act as a signal to monsters, so I only use phones when I have to. I walk into the bathroom and close the door. I grab a drachma and drop it into the water which has now created a rainbow with the sunlight in the room.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering." I said as the drachma disappeared.
"Call Annabeth Chase, Camp Half Blood."
I see Annabeth appear in the mist.
"Hey Annie, I've missed you. I made it safely and am living with my brother now." I said. She jumped around as I said this, surprised by my call.
"Adi, I've missed you. What's with the Greek?" She asked.
"My brother and his friends are in the kitchen. They are wolf shape shifters apparently, so they have supernatural hearing. They don't know my secret yet, or that I know about theirs."
"I'm assuming you found out about them through your gift?" She asked even though she already knew the answer.
"Yep. They don't know I know about them yet."
"I'm so jealous of your gift. You are so lucky." She reminded me.
"I know, but it makes things rather boring sometimes, but definitely more useful than annoying."
"So, what have you been doing there?" She asked.
"Just basic stuff: cliff diving, hiking, met a cute guy, drawing." I told her hoping she would not catch the part about the guy or that she would over look it. I was wrong.
"A CUTE GUY! Does little Adi have a crush? Oooooo she totally has a crush!"
"Shut up Annabeth. I'm not little just because you are a year older than me."
"So who is he?"
"One of my brothers friends in the pack. I don't know he's just different I guess. I haven't talked to him much. I met him when I was in the forest late last night. You know nightmares. Couldn't sleep. Then, I went cliff diving with him today. It was fun and I can always catch him staring at me. I like it, but it also makes me feel really self conscious, you know. I don't know, maybe you should just tell me what to do. You seem to have a good thing going with Percy." I told her.
"Ok definitely crushing on him. Percy and I just drifted together with our quests and stuff. Just talk with him and get to know him. Even with your gift, you don't know everything about him, just facts, not his thoughts, opinions, or most of his story."
"Ok, yeah, I'll just talk to him some. Thanks Annie." I told her gratefully. "So, anything knew with camp?"
"Nothing much. Percy and I decided as long as nothing happens we will move to Camp Jupiter next year and go to college. We want to have a family, but with our scents we would always be hunted out of camp, plus any of our children would be powerful since we are both demigods, so Camp Jupiter is the best option." She responds.
I can tell she is sad that she nor her future children will ever get a normal life, but I also know she is excited about going to school and having a family with Percy. I know I'm very lucky that I have my ring that hides my scent. I think Mother gave it to me because she wanted to keep me alive, but I also know she was really thankful that I restored her name to the Romans.
"That's exciting Annie. I'm glad you and Percy have a plan and it will be easy for me to visit you guys. Make sure to let me know if anything at cam comes up. I've got to go, but I'll call you or come visit soon."
"By Adi. You really have to visit soon."
"By Annie" I say and swipe my hand through the mist.
Jacob's POV:
When we go inside to eat, Adi excuses herself without eating to go call her friend.
"She does not eat anything. That can't be good for her." Emily said, clearly worried.
"Yeah, she eats half a slice of toast for breakfast, and last night she barely ate dinner. I just assumed she ate before hand, but now I'm not sure." Sam says. It is clear that he cares about his sister deeply.
"Maybe she's anorexic." Paul says and I lowly growl at him for even suggesting that about her.
"It's possible, she did not want to wear a swim suit cliff diving either." Embry says softly.
"Its possible, but I don't know. She looks skinny, but more athletic than anything. We will just have to keep an eye on her." Sam says as he runs his hand through his hair.
I can hear Adi talking down the hallway, but it does not sound like English.
"Hey, listen. Does it sound like she's even talking in English right now?" I asked the guys.
They all pause a second and listen down the hall.
"Its not English. Does not sound like Spanish or French either. I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak that language." Jared says.
"I guess you'll just have to ask her." Embry says to me.
*Greek in Bold Italics (Just this Section)
Third Person POV:
Adi walks into the kitchen and sits down in one of the chairs.
"Hey, what language were you speaking in?" Jacob asks her.
"Oh so you were eavesdropping on my conversation?" Adi asks and glares at Jacob.
"Well...um...no...um-" Jacob stutters.
"Don't worry about it. Can't really be mad at you for eavesdropping when you can't understand what I'm saying. It was Greek."
"Oh ok," Jacob responds.
"Where'd you learn Greek?" Sam asks her.
"Boarding school and Camp taught it. Me and Annabeth both speak it fluently."
"Do you speak any other languages?" Jared asked. They all were interested in learning what they could about mysterious Adi, except Paul who did not care that much.
"Uh...yeah...a few." Adi responded. Truthfully she spoke English, Quileute, Greek, Latin, Spanish, French, and a few others, but she was no way going to tell them all that.
"Which ones?" Jacob asked this time, wanting to learn everything he can about his imprint.
"Um...Well I speak Greek, Latin, and French pretty well along with a few others."
"That's really cool. I can barely pass my Spanish class." Jared said.
"Yeah, boarding school taught us a lot."
"That's really cool" Jacob said.
XXX
Adi was talking with Emily when the guys came back in the house and Jacob was clutching his arm.
"What happened?" Adi asked. She knew it had to do with the wolf thing, but she was curious about his arm.
"Oh...um well Jacob dislocated his shoulder. I've got to pop it back into place." Sam tells her.
He grabs Jacob's arm and starts to put it into the position where he can pop it in.
"Don't do it like that." Adi says quickly to stop Sam.
"What do you mean? This is how you pop it back in." He says.
"True, you can pop it back in that way, but you have a good chance of only putting it back in halfway which will make it go out easier. Here let me do it." Adi tells her brother.
"You sure?" Sam asks. The other guys were sitting at the table at this point.
"Trust me." She tells him. She goes to Jacob and moves his shoulder back into place. She heals it slightly with her powers from Apollo while she pops it in to make it less painful.
"Woah, thanks. That barely hurt at all." Jacob says. He was not really focused on her popping his arm in anyway. All he could focus on was her, who was so close to him that her scent basically surrounded him. He focused on her hands on his skin. So when she popped it back in, he heard it, but barely felt anything.
"Of course. It should be fine now, but just take it easy for the rest of the day." Adi tells him.
As Adi popped Jacob's arm in, her sleeve slid up revealing part of her SPRQ tattoo.
"When did you get a tattoo?" Sam asked her, briefly catching the ink on her skin.
Adi realizes no matter what she was young to have a tattoo, so just told him truthfully, "When I was 10."
"Why?" Paul asks. He does not care to know about the imprints, but even he thinks getting a tattoo at 10 is both strange and badass.
"Its complicated, but means something important." She responds.
The boys pick up on her hesitancy to answer about it, so they let her vague answer slide.

Adi goes to her room and the pack is left in the kitchen.
"She's changed. She used to be so happy and carefree. Now, I don't know, but she's cautious. Something happened while she has been gone that she's hiding." Sam says with a worried look.
"She's definitely not normal" Paul says and Jacob growls at him.
"Hey, don't get all mad at me, even you have to admit your little imprint is hiding something." Paul tells Jacob.
"I know she is, but how can I blame her when we have a secret too?" Jacob replies.
"Ok, so when are you gonna tell her about being a wolf?" Jared asks Jacob, knowing Jacob is worried about it as he was with Kim.
"When she is ready, probably next bonfire." Jake replies.
"You know that is on Friday right?" Sam asks.
"Well now I do. I'll tell her then. It will be easier for all of us if we don't have to hide our secret from her. I mean speaking in Quileute will only work for so long." Jacob replies. The group has spoken about a few things in Quileute to avoid Adi finding out they are shifters, but they all know that probably makes her feel left out.
They all nod at Jacob. As they continue various conversations and teasing each other, they hear a shriek from where Adi is followed by shouting in another language. Sam and Jacob immediately get up and run to her room.
"Adi! Adi! Are you ok?" Jacob asks running into her room to see her pressed up in a ball against the wall breathing hard.
Jacob bends down to her, "Why did you scream?"
"S-s-sp-spider" She stutters out pointing to the wall near her desk.
Sam walks over to the wall and kills the spider and throws it out the window.
"Its dead now Adi" Sam tells her.
Jacob still bent down right next to her hears her say, "Stupid Spiders, they always find me. Why can't they just leave me alone. Arachne hates my mother. Hates me. Never safe. Never safe. Nev-"
"Hey shhhh its ok. Its dead now. It can't hurt you." Jacob tells her as he picks her up into his arms, she still in a ball. Jacob plays with her hair and whispers to her over and over that 'she is safe' and 'its ok'.
Eventually Adi falls asleep relaxing in Jacob's arms. Jacob picks her up and places her on her bed. He kisses her forehead and whispers, "Goodnight my Adira. I will always keep you safe."
He slips out of the room with Adi still asleep and goes back to the kitchen where Sam is. The rest of the pack has left as it is almost midnight.
"Has she always been that scared of spiders?" Jake asks Sam.
"She's always been afraid, but it was a normal fear. I've never seen her before today so scared of something." Sam responds.
"Ok, well keep the guys from teasing her. If there's a problem call me, but I'm gonna go home and crash." Jake tells Sam.
When Jake goes home Billy is in the living room waiting for him.
"Son, why are you home so late? You had patrol in the morning." Billy asks Jacob.
"I did." Jacob says smiling.
"Then why are you so late?" Billy asks his son, confused at the smiling face as he hasn't seen his son smile since he phased.
"Oh...um calming a girl who is deathly afraid of spiders down after one was in her room and letting her fall asleep in my arms." Jake responds with a smile on his face.
"Ok, well Bella keeps calling me. At one point you are going to tell her you can't see her anymore." Billy tells his son, waiting for him to get mad.
"Oh...um...yeah forgot about her. I'll call her tomorrow. I'll just tell her I started working for the tribe and stuff and don't want to hang out and deal with her using me anymore." Jake responds.
"Wait, why aren't you mad about this? Not that I'm not happy you are going to cut her out of your life, but just curious." Billy asks Jacob, curious about what has changed since Jake has only been thinking about Bella for the past few days and was making him talk to her, so Jake did not have to end things.
"Oh, I realized she's been using me last night, and I met a girl, who I like a lot more than the stupid crush I had on Bella." Jake responds with a love sick look.
"Ok, we can play this game since you clearly aren't telling me everything. Who is the girl?"
"Her names Adira. She's Sam's younger sister." Jake responds still with a goofy look on his face.
"Sam has a sister?"
"A few people remember her. She disappeared eight years ago, and showed up a few days ago. Until she showed up, everyone assumed she was dead since she was eight when she disappeared."
"Ok, story for another day. I am assuming this girl is the reason you are home so late."
"Well...yeah, what kind of person would I be to leave my imprint terrified. I had to stay with her until she fell asleep." Jake responds.
Billy's eyes light up when Jacob mentions she's his imprint, "Imprint?"
"Yeah" Jake says running his hand through his hair. "I imprinted on her last night. I learned what an imprint was this morning after I apparently looked like a 'mess' in front of the guys and they figured it out. She even put my arm back into socket today, so it barely hurt. Oh, and she is apparently deathly afraid of spiders."
Billy smiles at his son, happy to see he is no longer pinning after Bella Swan. "I'm glad you have found your imprint so quickly and can see Bella for who she was. You will have to bring this girl over for dinner soon."
"Yeah. You'll meet Adi on Friday. She's coming to the bonfire. She lives with Sam, so the quicker we tell her the better for everyone."
"Ok, well I can not wait to meet this special girl."
Jake goes off to his room and falls asleep, dreaming of the mysterious girl with grey eyes that he already loves.
