Lilith leans against the building with her eyes closed. "Lily, take deep breaths. You're working yourself up." Caroline says into the phone, her voice soft and soothing. "For all you know it's not what you think."
"Care, he said she was Jasper's girlfriend."
"So? Girlfriend does not mean mate. Did you see any bites?"
"I didn't check."
"You didn't check?! Well why are you freaking out when you haven't even checked yet. You could be overreacting. I swear, sometimes you can be as dramatic as Klaus." Lilith rolls her eyes.
"You're one to talk. Have you decided on which flowers you're going to have. I mean, you've changed your mind like ten times already. You were supposed to get marry last year, but the flowers weren't perfect so you canceled the wedding and you say I'm dramatic. Hell, not even Nikki is as dramatic as you."
"Oh, shut it, you. I just want it to be perfect. I'm only getting married once and my mom is going to walk me down the aisle and dance with me… I wish my dad was here."
"Well, at least you're apart of our club."
"Club?"
"Yeah, the 'my dad tried to put a stake through my heart' club." Caroline gave a laugh at that, but it sounded a bit tearful.
"I miss you."
"Miss you too and the Frenchie." Caroline giggles.
"Marcel hates when you call him that. He's not even French."
"No, but he did grow up in the French quarters and speaks fluent French. He also lives in the most French place in America, he's French." Caroline giggles.
"Look, Lil, you're probably worrying for nothing. Don't freak until you know all the facts." Lilith's smile faltered. "This guy is your mate. You belong with him. It'll work out."
"What if it doesn't? What if this is my punishment for all the terrible things I've done."
"Lily, if Niklaus Mikaelson can have a beautiful daughter and marry the love of his life after everything he's done then you can surely get your mate. I mean, I will admit, I heard the stories and I know you did some pretty bad things, but you weren't the ones to dagger your siblings and seal some of them away for half a millennium like your dear brother."
"Finn, was a danger to himself."
"Yes, but Klaus still shouldn't have daggered him. He has a right to make his own decisions. Do you think I wanted my dad to die? He didn't want this life and I accepted that. It was his decision to die. You had to let Finn make the same choice. Klaus can't play god with his siblings. You also did a lot to make up for your past. All those people you saved and are still saving? You even created your own blood bank and helped save sick children. Sure, forty percent of the blood does go to vampires, but sixty goes to the hospitals. And don't think I didn't notice your trips to the hospital outside the delivery days. You go there to heal those you know need it and don't have a chance of dying and turning."
"I just want to be better, Care."
"And you are better, Lil. You are one of the most selfless, loving, sweetest people I know. It's why you're my best woman." Lilith giggles. "I love you. You are my sister and I know you deserve to be happy. I expect to be your best woman too."
"Of course. There's no way I'd have Bek be the best woman." Caroline lets out a very loud laugh.
"If you make Bek even a part of the wedding part then it'll burn to the ground. The two of you are vicious to one another. No one would survive the night." Lilith grins.
"Not my fault she's a whore."
"And you're a bitch." She heard Rebekah say in the background.
"You both are terrible." Caroline chuckles.
"Is that Anna?" She heard Kol say, causing her heart to ache.
"Kolie? Can you put him on."
"Of course." Caroline says in a gentle tone, knowing how much the twins loved one another.
"Anna." Kol sighs into the phone. "I miss you."
"I know, Kolie. I'm sorry. You know I love you."
"I know." She could practically hear the pout in his voice.
"This is just something I have to do. I need to go off on my own."
"You found your mate." It was a statement, not a question.
"Yes."
"Does that mean you'll stay in Forks forever?"
"No, of course not. I'll have to move eventually when they start to notice I don't age."
"But you're staying for awhile."
"Kolie-"
"I was in a coffin for centuries and then I died. I miss you, Anna. You're my baby sister-"
"Big sister."
"My baby sister. I want to be with you." Her heart ached.
"I learned how to live away from you, Kolie. I learned how to deal with being apart. I know it's hard, Kolie, I do, but you need to learn how to live without me. You can't depend on me being there beside you forever. I'm not the same person anymore, Kolie. I've changed."
"I know." Kol sighs. "I understand you're different. It won't change anything. I still love you. You're still my twin, my sister, my best friend. I just wish I could be with you. I wish we could be the dynamic duo like before."
"I will come home, Kol. I will come home again. I just need space right now. We're immortal. We have all the time in the world to spend together."
"Your mate better treat you right or I will kill him. You are amazing and my sister deserves the best."
"I love you."
"Love you more."
"Love you most."
"Love you all eternity."
"Love you even after death."
"Fuck you." The two share a laugh.
"I'll talk to you later."
"Bye, Anna."
"Bye, Kolie." She hangs up and sighs. Talking to Kol was both amazing and terrible. She misses him so much. The two used to do everything together, but she knew they needed this space. Kol needed to find who he is without her like she did with him. This time apart will be good for him and hopefully for her as well.
The bell rings, singling lunch to be over. She gives a sigh before draining the last of what was in her thermos before popping in a mint and heading for her next class. Her next class being Art.
Upon walking into the art room, Lilith knew immediately that it was not going to be a good class. She had a terrible foreboding feeling, as if something bad was going to happen. Most people would turn around and walk back out and say fuck that, but Lilith wasn't most people. She didn't scare easily. Growing up with Mikael as a father, fear was like an old friend that she no longer sees. She can't remember the last time she truly felt genuine fear. It had to be at least a couple of centuries, so no, Lilith didn't simply turn around and walk out. Instead, she held her head up high and went straight up to the teacher and handed over her slip.
"Hello, I'm Lily Mikaels, I'm new and I was told to give you this slip to sign." The art teacher was a strange fellow. A total hippie. He wore a tie dye shirt with a v-neck and the short sleeves folded twice, a pair of baby blue bell bottom jeans, a brown vest over his shirt, a bandana around his head, a piece symbol hanging from a leather string around his neck, and sandals on his feet. His hair was a light brown and went past his shoulders, his eyes were a dark green. He was definitely a sight to see.
"Sure thing." The man says in a cool and easy voice, signing his signature in big loopy letters. "The kids call me Asher. Don't worry about the whole Mister. I'm all about equality to the student and the teacher."
"Right." Lilith smiles, amused by this burnout of a teacher. It was clear in his eyes that he had just taken a trip down the rainbow. He was high as a kite. "Well, nice to meet you. I'm going to have a seat."
"Cool." She giggles softly and takes a seat in the back. He definitely helped with her mood. He was a character.
"Is this seat taken?" Lilith's smile dipped as she heard the voice. It sounded like bells and was a little too perfect and sweet. Looking up Lilith saw the pixie standing beside her. Lilith doesn't have time to answer her before she takes a seat anyways. "I'm Alice." Lilith's smile fell completely. She swallowed and stared at Alice. Alice was everything Lilith wasn't.
She was short, had short dark hair, her eyes were the same liquid gold as the other cold ones, she had a small child-like frame, all skin and bones with no real mass. She had large round eyes, round cheeks, a little nose, beautiful eyebrows (Someone should really teach Edward how to fix his), and small plush lips. She was pretty and small. She was everything Lilith wasn't.
"Do you dye your hair?" Alice asks, breaking Lilith from her somber thoughts. "It's a little rough." Alice says as she touches Lilith's hair without her approval. "Do you wash it often?" Lilith's cheek burned with embarrassment. "And your eyes? Have you ever considered wearing contacts, they're just so… dull…." Everything about the cold ones were perfect. Their voice, their bodies, their faces, hell even their scent is attractive. How could Jasper ever want anything to do with her when he has the perfect pixie. "You should dye your hair if you don't already. It makes you look old and it completely washes out your pale skin. What about your clothes?" Alice wrinkles up her nose. "I don't think you need to scream at the world about your inability to keep your legs closed." Lilith had never met anyone so rude and horrid. No one has ever dared to tell a Mikaelson a negative thing about them. They had a reputation after all. And yet, here was this girl telling her how plain, dull, and ugly she was.
At that moment all Lilith saw was red. She wanted nothing more than to give into her darkness and rip this little twig apart. The old Lilith would have relished in the death of this cold ones, danced in entrails, washed in her blood. But Lilith swore to be a more pacified vampire. She wouldn't do harm unless harm has been done upon her. So, as much as Lilith wanted to kill this pixie bitch, she forced herself to calm.
"How I dress or act is none of your concern." Lilith says in a calm and soft tone, appearing to not be affected in the slightest by the cold one. "I'm not fake like you. I don't need to change who I am to make people like me. You either like me or you don't. I don't let the haters bother me. That is what makes you and I different, Alice." The name came off Lilith's tongue super sweet, but there was no mistake the look in Lilith's eyes, danger. Lilith was not someone to mess with. "I'm not a pathetically vain person. I don't care how I look. I don't need to impress anyone, but it seems as if all you care about is impressing people. Maybe that's because you know that all you have are your looks. So beautiful on the outside," Lilith runs a finger down Alice's cheek. "But so hideous on the inside. Be careful, Alice, one day your outer beauty will not be enough. One day, the world's going to see just how ugly you truly are. I'm not someone you want to mess with, Alice. Don't play games, little girl, you'll only get hurt." Lilith gives her a shark like smile before standing up.
Mates are meant to be together, completely perfect in every way for the other. Maybe Jasper does love Alice, but she's not the one he's meant to be with. He is meant to love Lilith. She wasn't the type to take what others have, but Alice made a fatal mistake. She pissed Lilith off, now all bets are off. From here on out, Lilith isn't going to let Alice take what rightfully belongs to her. Jasper was Lilith and she is here to collect.
With that, she moved to the front of the room and far away from Alice, who looked to be torn between screaming and crying. No, Lilith wasn't scared easily. Give her everything you got because she was ready to fight for her happy ever after.
Jasper was anxious after getting back to the school. He wanted to find Lilith. He wanted to see her, to hear her, to smell her wonderful scent. He wanted to reassure her that he was hers, that they belonged together. He wanted her so badly that he felt like he was dying, while being apart from her. Even during Jasper's favorite class, History, he was still struggling to relax. Not even Emmett's ridiculous humor could not put him at ease.
Emmett was Jasper's best friend among the Cullens. He was always great at helping Jasper relax and loosen up. He was always in such a good mood and joking around. Jasper used to love just basking in the Emmett's emotions, which were always so positive and energetic just like the big guy. Everyone thought Emmett was just some jock, all muscle and no brains, but he was a lot smarter than people realize. He is also very understanding and he was great at giving advice. He was Jasper's go-to guy when in need of help and reassurance.
But even Emmett couldn't get Jasper to take a breath and relax. "Man, I'm telling you, she's fine." Emmett says after class, while the two head towards their next class, Algebra, Emmett's least favorite class. "Look, if I had known about the two of you then I would never have brought up Alice, but now we know the whole story. And Lily seems very understanding, once you talk to her then she'll understand, but she's not in any harm right now. Alice isn't stupid to do anything-" A squeak cuts him off and Jasper moves quicker than he can think, catching the girl before she could fall.
Emmett walked right into the girl in question, Lily. Jasper had grabbed Lily's arm to keep her from falling and had pulled her into him, so now the two stood pressed against each other, their eyes locked together. Jasper smiles, feeling the tension ease out of his body now that he had Lily in his arms. "Hey, sorry about that. We didn't see you." Jasper whispers, his southern twang washing over Lily, causing her to shiver.
"It's okay. I was lost in my own world… I do that a lot. Lose track of time and things around me." Jasper feels enchanted by her beautiful gray eyes.
"You're so beautiful." Jasper finds himself whispering, his thumb running across her soft round cheek, which began to glow pink.
"I'm really not." She mutters, bowing her head and breaking eye contact, causing her soft white hair to fall into her face.
"You are." Jasper says more confidently. He lifts her face up with his thumb and forefinger holding her chin. "Your hair…" He runs his fingers through it and tucks it behind her ear. "It's so soft and pure like freshly fallen snow. Your skin." Her eyes flutter closed as he runs his calloused fingers across her cheeks. "It's so smooth and light, like that of a doll, perfect. Your eyes," Those eyes opened and locked onto his golden orbs. "They're like two storm clouds during the worst of the storm, so vibrant and powerful. Your-" A throat clears, causing them to both look over to a grinning Emmett.
"Hate to interrupt your moments, dude, but class is going to start soon and you know Miss. Fredricks will kill us if we're late." Jasper nods and goes to step back, but Lily's hand grabs him by the wrist, holding him in place. His eyes fell towards hers.
"Thank you."
"I'm only being honest." Her cheeks are flushed, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
"No one ever said those things before… Only the opposite."
"I meant every word. You're unique, you're not like all the others and I like that. You're perfectly unique and you're beautiful."
"Thank you." They share a smile and she lets him go.
"Guys, as adorable as this is… class… Miss. Fredricks." Emmett says, causing Jasper to drop his hand from her cheek. He takes her hand, lacing their fingers together.
"Don't you have a girlfriend?" Lilith whispers. His eyes met hers.
"Not anymore." He squeezes her hand and leads her into the classroom. Emmett heads for the back and when Jasper went to lead Lilith back there she tried to take her hand out of his, causing him to turn back to her.
"I got to have… Miss. Fredricks?" Jasper nods. "I got to have her sign this slip."
"Okay." He leads her over to the teacher. "Miss. Fredricks?"
"What?" The teacher was an elderly woman with a large pointed nose and small beady brown eyes. She stood an entire foot shorter than Lilith and scowled up at Lilith and Jasper as if they were dirt under her shoe.
"Um, hi, I'm new and I was told to have you sign this sl-" Miss. Fredricks rips the paper out of her hand and writes her signature across it with a flick of her wrist.
"Take a seat." She says, flicking the paper at Lilith. Lilith caught it and pulled on Jasper's hand. Jasper glared down at the teacher, but Lilith kept pulling until he started moving.
"She's such a fucken bitch." Jasper growls.
"I've experienced worse." Lilith shrugs. "I can handle that any day." She says, waving the teacher away. "It's the ones that are worse than that that I am more concerned about." She takes a seat by the window, leaving the seat between her and Emmett open for Jasper.
"Come here." Jasper says as he helps her stand back up. "Sit between us."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I see the dofus enough at home." Jasper says with a complete straight face, causing Lilith to look at him.
"Fuck you." Emmett laughs, causing Jasper to let out a smirk. "Don't let this guy fool you, I am amazing." He says, throwing an arm around her shoulders. She giggles and gives him a smile.
"You're alright."
"Ouch."
"You said you have brothers, right?" Jasper asks.
"Yeah, I had five."
"Want one more?"
"Nah, you can keep him." Lilith grins, causing Emmett to pout.
"I guess. He is good for helping blow off steam." Jasper smiles, ruffling Emmett's hair, causing him to laugh.
"Yeah and this guy," Emmett's face turns serious. "He's good for a lot of things, but you need a shoulder to cry on, he's your man. He's a real sensitive guy, so please don't hurt him." Lilith's face softened.
"I don't plan on it."
"Good." Emmett says. "Because Rose will kick your ass. I can't because you're a girl, but Rose will be more than happy to do it for me."
"I'd let her." The two smile.
"Glad we came to an agreement."
"Alright, class, open your books to page three hundred ninety four." Miss. Fredricks says, causing the students to quickly take out their English book.
"You can share with me until you get your books." Jasper whispers as he opens up his book and lays it across both their desks.
"Thanks." He gave her a smile, his hand finding hers once more.
"So do you have any pictures of your siblings?" Emmett asks softly.
"Yeah, I got a recent picture of us, but none of my siblings that are deceased."
"That's too bad." Jasper says.
"It is what it is. I wish I had pictures, but I don't. There's nothing I can do about that." She took out her phone and shows them the most recent picture. "We took this before I left." The picture was of all of them outside. The center of the picture had Niklaus sitting in a throne. "That's Niklaus, he's the dramatic one in the family." She says with a grin. "The little brunette girl sitting on his left knee is Hope and the blonde girl on his right knee is Lizzie, they're his daughters." Little Hope was in a pretty white sundress with her dark brown hair pulled back at the top, while Lizzie had her curly blonde hair sprawled across her shoulders and was wearing a deep royal blue sundress. "The blonde woman to his left is Caroline, his fiance and the mother of the twins." Caroline was standing beside his chair with her hand at the back of his head, her fingers threaded into his short blonde curls. Caroline was wearing a pretty strapless white dress with a blue sweater over it. "On her otherside is Elijah, he's the official oldest of us now that Freya and Finn are gone." Elijah was as stoic as always with his hands folded in front of him and wearing a designer all black suit that looked nice against his tan skin. "On the otherside of Klaus is my brother-in-law and Klaus' best friend, Marcel." Marcel had that charming smile on his face with his dark gray leather jacket and a black v-neck that looked great against his rich black skin. "And beside him is my sister Rebekah." Rebekah, as always, was dressed beautifully. She had a gorgeous strapless blue flowered dress with a black hat on her head and killer heels on her feet. Marcel had his arm around her and his cheek resting against the top of her head. The picture was perfect because it captured her staring lovingly up at him. "The little girl in front of them is their daughter, Delphine." The little girl had dark skinned and curly black hair with the brightest blue eyes that Lilith had ever seen. She had her hair in two French braids and was dressed in a pretty pale pink sundress with little ballet flats. "Behind the chair is, of course, me and then that is my twin, Kol." Kol stood to the right of the chair closest to Marcel and Rebekah, while Lilith stood closest to Caroline and Elijah on the left side. Kol was wearing a black leather jacket with a dark v-neck, while Lilith wore a very pretty pale blue sundress with her blonde hair pulled over her left shoulder.
"You look beautiful." Jasper whispers, causing her to blush.
"How old are they all?" Emmett asks.
"Well, Finn was twenty-seven before he died. Freya had only been five years old when she had gotten sick and she was two years older than Finn. Elijah is twenty-four, Niklaus is twenty-one," Lilith pauses, starting to realize a problem. If she continued with their real human ages then they were going to ask questions after all her and Kol are only nineteen, Caroline is seventeen, and Rebekah is seventeen. "Marcel is twenty-five." She says.
"What about your sister Rebekah? She's younger right? Isn't she a little young for a kid?" Emmett asks. Lilith hesitates, suddenly realizing she had trapped herself in a corner. She should have lied about the ages. They looked older than they really are, but then again she did say Rebekah was younger and she was married with a kid.
"Mr. Cullen, no talking." Miss. Fredricks says, saving Lilith from answering. She could feel Jasper's eyes on her, but thankfully he didn't say anything. She was going to have to be honest with them soon. They were bound to ask questions eventually. She knew she wouldn't be able to hide what she was from cold ones for long and the longer she waits the worse they'll take it. Mates shouldn't lie to one another.
Jasper squeezes her hand, causing her to look at him. "You don't have to tell us." He whispers, causing her to stare at him. "Whatever you're trying to avoid telling us… you don't need to feel as if you have to tell us. Tell us when you're ready." She gave him a small smile and kissed his knuckles before focusing on class. She'll tell him soon.
