"Mother's Day"

Namine awoken to the sounds of the nearby bird nest chirping away signaling that the mother bird had arrived back to her children. Namine tried to go back to sleep when a frown came over her face. Her arm moved to the other side of the king sized bed trying to feel for anything there. She grunted slightly as her husband's warmth was gone. She then fully opened her eyes and rolled over to look at the clock, It read Sunday, 8:15 AM.

Namine was confused as she read it over again. Usually she was the first one to be up in the morning and neither of them had work today so they could sleep in. Namine pondered about where her beloved husband was as she stared up at the ceiling. Before she could get out of bed, Namine soon got her answer as the door to the bedroom opened. A small blond blur came in first and leaped onto her bed.

"Happy Mother's Day Mommy!" Her son, Ventus exclaimed as he then gave his mother a big hug.

Namine was taken back a bit by his fast entrance before her own big smile appeared on her face and then hugged him back.

"Happy Mother's Day Honey!" Her husband, Roxas said, walking through the bedroom door as he carried up a metal tray filled with breakfast for her. He motioned for Ventus to move off of Namine's before setting the tray down onto her lap. Namine looked up to Roxas as his hand caressed her rosy cheek and then kissed her.

Their kiss was short lived as Ven interrupted them. "Eww, Daddy don't you know Mommy has cooties?" Ven asked.

"Oh I know," Roxas played along "I'm just not scared of them," he said resulting in Namine giggling at his "toughness" and leaned in toward him as the two shared another passionate kiss.

This time it was broken by the sound of Namine's stomach growling, finally sensing the presence of the warm food In Front of her.

"Someone's hungry" Roxas teased at her.

"Hush! You know I'm a big breakfast person" Namine argued with him as her cheeks were flustered.

"I know, that's why me and Ventus woke up early this morning to make you it," Roxas said, taking a seat on the edge of the bed to join his family.

"I helped toast the bread!" Ventus exclaimed cheerfully.

"Well it does all look delicious!" Namine said to the both of them before taking a bite out of the buttered toast first. It was a bit burned. Yet, she didn't care and continued to eat the whole slice.

Roxas then turned back to Ventus.

"Ventus? Don't you also have something else to give to Mommy?" He asked.

Ven nodded as he revealed he was holding a red colored paper card and gave it to his mother. Namine received the card and looked down at it seeing it was a Mother's Day card. She then opened it to see the written quote for Mother's Day. Just below it was a handwritten message by Ventus. "I Love you Mommy!-Love Ventus" it said in green crayon. Along with many smaller pictures drawn in crayon too.

Namine smiled as she finished reading. "Aww thank you Ventus," Namine said, giving him another big hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Roxas then ruffled his son's blond hair with a smile too. "It took forever trying to find a card that best described you," he told her.

"Well it doesn't matter what the card says. I'm just happy it came from my two favorite guys," Namine replied with the card and Ven resting on her lap.

"Hey Ventus, do you think you can give me and mommy some alone time so she can finish her breakfast?" Roxas asked him.

"Oh ok Daddy," Ven replied a little disappointed as he then hopped off the bed and left their room.

"He could've stayed here, I didn't mind," Namine said.

"True, but since you always watched over him. I thought it would be nice if you would let me handle things for today," Roxas replied.

"Roxas! I'm not injured or sick, this breakfast and card has already made this day perfect enough," she told him as she then wrapped her arms around his neck. "I understand that you want to make sure I don't do anything besides lay around in bed today. And I really do appreciate that, but that's not what I want to do," She stated.

"Ok then, what do you want to do today?" Roxas asked her.

Namine then closed her eyes and hummed softly to herself. "How about getting me out of this bed and shortly afterwards. You could bring me my personal sketchbook and we could relax in the backyard garden with Ven? There have been some projects that I've been trying to work on recently," she answered him.

Roxas nodded, "Anything else?"

Namine paused, "Maybe after lunch, you could run down to Scrooge's Ice Cream Parlour and get a box of Sea Salt Ice Cream?" She asked with a shy grin.

Roxas laughed before giving his wife another kiss.

"Of course!"

After they finished talking about her plans for the day. Namine finally got to eat her homemade breakfast. Occasionally, she would offer Roxas some of her Papou Pancakes. Which he happily accepted from her fork.

"That really was great! You and Ven did a great job," Namine praised toward him.

Roxas then playfully took a bow at her compliment, "It was my pleasure m'lady! I will have to inform the little chef too that his customer was delighted with her meal," he said.

Namine giggled at his act as Roxas took away the empty tray and placed it on the dresser.

Namine then reached out for her white robe and put it on. However, she was swept off the floor by Roxas's toned arms.

"Roxas!" She squealed.

"Hey you never said anything about not wanting to be carried," he replied back.

Namine sighed in defeat, "You win, but only until we get outside," she said snuggling into his chest.

Roxas nodded as he started to walk downstairs while bridal carrying her. He caught a glimpse of her pure gentle face shining in the house's sunlight and he smiled once more.

'Thank you Namine for this family,' Roxas thought to himself as he saw Ven already waiting outside for them.
