Jessica laid in bed. Staring at her smooth brown ceiling. The hero sighed as she tossed and turned under her sheets of blankets. She couldn't stop thinking about Pamela. The scene kept replaying in her head. Unable to shake the awful feeling she decided to check her phone, maybe just maybe, Pamela would send a text. Nothing. Although she did received numerous amounts of texts from her friends.
The green lantern hasn't been attending school after the incident for a whole week. She didn't care. She couldn't eat, sleep, even talk to her own mothers. The brown haired girl shut everyone out. As if any of her friends and family would see her like this anyway, she was a total mess. She did not shower for that whole week, never even changed her set of pajamas. She just...laid in bed. Alone. Closing her eyes, drifting away in her deep sadness.
"Jessica?"
The girl shrieked as she fell from her bed. She got up with a book in her hand as a way to defend her self, her eyes squinted as she saw a woman in her window.
"Kara, w-what are you doing here?" Jessica lowered her "weapon" down onto her dresser.
"Uh, duh we're here for you" Kara scoffed as she let herself in, uninvited.
"We?"
As she finished her sentence, five girls came from her bedroom window.
"Geez Jess, this room is a wreck!" Barbara exclaimed as she glanced around her room.
"And it reeks!" Zee pinched her nose.
"Gee thanks Zee. What..what are you guys doing here anyway, shouldn't you be at school?" Jess backed up from her friends as bumped into a taller figure, she glanced up to see Diana.
"We should be asking you that!" Kara huffed as she stared down her powered ring friend.
"Look, i'm doing just fine. Something just came up and i couldn't attend school. End of story. Goodbye now!" Jessica tried but failed miserably push her friend Diana towards her door.
Diana grabbed a hold of Jessica's hands, "Sister, we are worried about you. You haven't told us anything about what is going on with your female emotions, we fear something else happened. Did a family member pass away?"
"Uhh...yes! My dear granny passed away about a week ago and that's why i missed school, thank you for coming, but i'd appreciate it if you all left now" Jessica lied as she shuffled away and opened the door, her head hinting toward the exit.
"That's not true"
All heads turned toward Zee, who had flipped her hair and walked toward her friend, as her hand cupped the girls friends cheek.
"Something happened with you and that plant girl, didn't it jess?"
Jessica slowly backed away as her friend spit the truth. That sentence flicked like a switch for the hero. An ache twisted deep in Jessica's stomach, she turned away from her friends as her eyes welled up with tears. She couldn't control her emotions as they took over. The girl dropped to her knees, as she let her sadness take over her completely.
The girls rushed down to help her friend. They looked at each other with fear and heartbreak. They've never seen her like this, the most enthusiastic girl they've even known, broken. Completely shattered.
As her friends waited as she let all of her feelings loose. And letting Jessica lay on Zee's lap, completely drenching her skirt, cooing her as she ran her fingers through the activists hair. Her friends watched as this seem to help relax the poor girl. Jessica hiccuped as her crying seemed to have calmed down eventually. As the girls watched her brown haired friend recover, they sighed with relief quietly. Zee kissed Jessica's forehead softly, having Jessica's cheeks warm. The two girls hugged in their warming embrace, Jessica thanked her softly, leaving Zee to nod her head with a smile on her face.
"Are you okay to talk about it?" Zee asked her.
"Y-yea, i am" Jessica sniffed.
As she told her friends what happened a week ago, their eyes widened. And slowly their expressions softened as she went on with her story.
"And...that's when i called you two"
"We didn't think that happened, you smiled the whole way through the drive here, we had no idea Jess" Kara scratched her head as she looked down with a solemn expression.
"I know, i just didn't want you to worry" Jessica apologized.
"Worry? We've all been worried about you sick! We haven't seen or talked to you for a long time! We were all scared Jess" Karen finally spoke up.
"I know...i know. I'm sorry about that guys, i just thought that's what i needed, to not see her for awhile, i thought i would be better but i've been feeling worse because i haven't seen that face" Jessica sigh as she wrapped her arms around her legs, putting her head in there as well.
"You know...she's been asking about you"
Jessica's ears perked up, as she looked at the voice who said this. That couldn't be true!
"W-what? She has??"
"She would ask everyday, she sat alone at her little table, kind of depressed when we told her that we haven't seen you for a whole week" Zee confirmed for her dismayed friend.
Jessica tackled her friend to the ground, which made everyone giggle, while Zee's face was flushed.
"Well what are we waiting for, let's go to school already!" Jessica exclaimed as her heart pounded along with her cheeks heating up.
"Uh sweetie, school ended"
"Oh, i guess tomorrow then" the girl on top laughed as she pulled Zee up to her feet.
"Mm, yea uh, how about you go shower first?"
Jessica chuckled, "Oh, right. Here, i'll meet you downstairs, make yourselves at home guys. NOT that way Diana" Jessica scolded her warrior friend, as she got a flashback from last time she stayed in her home.
"Most certainly dear Jessica, enjoy your glorious shower!" Diana waved as the girls followed her downstairs.
As Jessica undressed from her horrendous stenched clothing, the girl couldn't stop thinking about what her friend said. Pamela thought about her! She cares! She doesn't hate her!! Jessica couldn't stop the huge smile growing on her face. She stepped into the shower letting the hot water hit her back, finally being able relax. Letting the steam fill up her bathroom, sighing as she washed her self with care. As she stepped out, she heard a scream. Her hero instincts flared as she ran out of the room and down the stairs.
"What happened?!" Jessica called out from the bottom of the stairs.
"Oops, sorry! Heh, scary movie" Karen awkwardly laughed, as she quietly apologized again.
Jessica sighed as she went back upstairs to get changed into actual clothes instead of the towel she was draped in.Tomorrow is a big day, she couldn't stop thinking about it as she hung out with her friends the rest of the day.
