Chapter 3

Mondstadt

So Venti and Starlight start heading towards Mondstadt. While they head there, Venti starts to make a conversation.

"You really haven't been around people, have you?" Venti asks.

"No. Not since my Mother passed away when I was 10." Starlight said.

"Wow. I feel sorry for you." Venti said.

"No. Don't be. Besides, I hardly remember any of it." Starlight said as she looked down sadly.

"Well, hopefully Mondstadt cheers you up. It's the city of freedom!" Venti said with enthusiasm. Starlight looks up to see that they have arrived in Mondstadt.

They both walk in. Starlight saw many people walking by her, waving at her and saying hello.

"Mondstadt is... amazing." Starlight said.

"It's nothing compared to Liyue though." Venti said.

"Liyue?" Starlight said but when she said the name of the city, she felt a tingling sensation in her mind.

"Is something wrong?" Venti asks, concerned.

"No. It's just that name sounded familiar." Starlight said.

"Well, I can take you there. It's pretty far so we can go by air."

"By air?"

"Yeah! We can ride on Dvalin."

"Who's Dvalin?" Starlight asks.

"My dragon." Venti said.

"Your dragon?! You have a pet dragon?" Starlight asks in surprise.

"He's more of a companion than a pet. Hey, let's head to the Tavern. I could really go for some glass of wine right about now." Venti said as he heads to the Tavern in Mondstadt.

"Um, okay?" Starlight said as she follows Venti.

They entered the Tavern. Venti immediately went to the bar and sat in a stool.

"One glass of wine please!" he ordered.

A male with bright red hair named Diluc turned to face the bard.

"No." he simply said.

"Aw, come on Diluc, just one?" Venti pleaded.

"No." Diluc said again. He was now drying a wine glass.

Starlight sat two stools away from Venti and was thinking of what to order. But her thoughts were interrupted by a smooth voice.

"Why hello there. Don't think I've seen you here before." he said.

Starlight turned around to see a dark-blue haired man with an eyepatch looking at her. He had a charming smile.

"Um, hi." Starlight said.

"What's a pretty girl like you doing here in Mondstadt?" he asks.

"Honestly, I don't know. I'm new here so..."

"I can give you a tour of Mondstadt if you like."

"Sorry but Venti over there, showed me the place." Starlight said.

"That's a shame. I bet a girl like you can light up this city. So, do you have a name?"

A wine glass was slammed hard yet gentle at the same time on the bar table between Starlight and the other guy.

"Cut it out Kaeya. Can't you see she's not interested in you." Diluc said in annoyance.

Kaeya looked at his stepbrother. "You never know unless you try."

Diluc sighs and looks at Starlight.

"Don't mind him. He tends to do that. He thinks he's that charming."

"Well, aren't I?" Kaeya said.

"Well to answer your question, I'm Starlight." Starlight introduced.

"What brings you here to Mondstadt Starlight?" Kaeya asks.

"Well, Venti kinda dragged me over here."

"Are you from around here." Diluc asks.

"No. To be honest, I don't know where I'm from." Starlight said.

"You're from Liyue, right?" Venti suddenly spoke up.

All three looked at him.

"Why would you say I'm from Liyue?" Starlight asks.

"From your Vision. Mondstadt's Visions are circular as for Liyue's, theirs is diamond-shaped." Venti explained.

"What's a Vision?" Starlight asks.

"A Vision is a sign of your power. The one on your wrist." Venti points to her Vision.

Starlight looks down at her wrist. In between silver wires with blue beads, a purple diamond-shaped Vision was softly glowing.

"But I don't know what type of power I hold." Starlight said.

"Then I guess we're going to Liyue then!" Venti said.
