Episode 3: Chaos Arises
Having delivered the Legendary Pokémon scale to Professor Locust and making a new friend and travel companion in Mircea, Ash and Pikachu are on their way to Marguerite City, home of their first Gym battle in the Anora Region. And right now, our heroes have now decided to take a well-earned break in some beautiful fields.
Ash and Mircea are busy sitting on a picnic blanket, hungrily devouring sandwiches, whilst Pikachu and Marmelon are busy racing through the flowers nearby playing tag.
Mircea looks up at the clouds and points up to them. "Hey, Ash. Have you noticed that some of these clouds kinda look like Pokémon?"
Ash then leans his head back and looks up too. "Yeah, hey! That one looks like Pikachu!" he points to a Pikachu-shaped cloud floating by.
"And that one kinda reminds me of a Dratini." he adds, as he points to another cloud slowly rolling by after the first one, this one rather shaped very much like a snake.
"And that one looks like a Gengar!" Ash points to a rather menacing (From Mircea's point of view) looking cloud sailing by.
Mircea's whole body tenses up and he begins to shake just a little.
Ash looks over at him, confused and worried.
"Hey, Mircea? You doing ok, bud?"
"Uh, ye-yeah! I-I'm f-fine!" Mircea replies, clearly in a tone that doesn't indicate that he's fine.
Ash looks back up at the clouds for a few seconds in silence before he speaks again.
"Mircea, why are you afraid of Ghost Pokémon?"
Mircea looks down at his shoes and sighs before speaking.
"I remember when I was younger, I got lost in the woods. I tried finding my way out, but I ended up running into a Gengar. It jumped out of the shadows and scared me so much. I remember then being surrounded by Ghost Pokémon and they all started jumping out at me and chasing after me. It was so scary…" his voice trails off, as he begins to hug himself tightly and shudder a bit more. "Besides, Ghost Pokémon are so creepy and scary… I don't like them at all…"
Ash turns to face Mircea and gently pats his back.
"Hey, it's ok. Ghost Pokémon are still just Pokémon. I've actually had one or two Ghost Pokémon on my team before." Ash chuckles.
Mircea looks over at him but then looks back down, still visibly nervous.
"I don't know how you'd even manage to be around such scary things…"
Ash can't think of anything else to say, so he goes back to not saying anything and stares back up at the sky.
Suddenly, before either of them can say anything else, they see a large explosion from off in the distance and someone screaming.
"H-hey, what's going on over there?" Mircea asks, slowly beginning to pick himself up.
"I think someone is in trouble, we should help them!" Ash declares, Pikachu runs over to him and jumps onto his shoulder.
Marmelon rolls over to the two of them and Mircea places Marmelon inside his backpack, where it falls asleep.
Before setting off, Ash and Mircea pack up their picnic things and put them away in their backpacks.
The two of them share a glance before nodding and setting off towards the site of the explosion.
As the two of them run in, they see a crying woman and a man who is trying to comfort her.
"Hey, are you two ok? What happened?" Ash asks, as he and Mircea rush over to the two people.
"Team Chaos happened, that's what." The man replies, "They are some sort of evil organization that seems bent on causing trouble wherever they go, just for the fun of it. They dress like some supervillains, bunch of no-good thugs…"
"Wh-what exactly did they do?" Mircea asks nervously.
"They stole our Pokémon and then decided to almost blow up our house." he points to the smoky, burnt grass only just in front of their house. "My wife here managed to just get out in time, though I think she might be injured."
"Oh, that's awful! We should stop them!" Ash declares, looking over towards a path leading away from the house.
"No!" the man steps up, "I can't allow two young children to risk their lives for me. I should be the one to do it."
But as the man is standing up, he falls back down on his knee, and clutches it tightly.
"Let's try and get you two some rest first." Ash and Mircea both get the man and woman up respectively and take them into their house where they are both placed on their bed.
"Y-you don't have to do this… I can manage…" the man begins to speak, before he slowly falls asleep on his bed.
After a short rest, the man and his wife wake up and look around a bit before seeing Ash and Mircea.
"Wh-what happened?" the woman asks.
"You guys got attacked by some really mean people named Team Chaos, and they stole your Pokémon! But don't worry, we'll get them back!" Ash explained.
Both the man and his wife look at Ash and Mircea, then at each other.
"Now I remember…" the man replies, as he holds a hand to his head. "I guess you two must be Pokémon Trainers?"
"Ye-yeah, we are." Mircea nods slowly
"If you could get our Pokémon back, we'd be ever so grateful." the man's wife replies. "Oh, by the way, my name is Camela, and this is my husband, Florin."
"We own a ranch where we keep all of our Pokémon. I'm not sure why exactly Team Chaos wants to steal them, I'm just holding onto hope that they'll all be back safe." Florin adds.
He hands Ash a small piece of paper, written on it is a list of Pokémon names.
"This is all the Pokémon in our ranch. Please, get them back for us." Camela asks.
"Don't you worry, you two just take it easy here, and we'll get all your Pokémon back!" Ash declares as he runs out of the house, Mircea following behind.
"H-hey, Ash, wait!" Mircea calls after him.
"Yeah?" Ash looks over his shoulder back at Mircea as the two of them run along the forest path.
"Don't you think it's a bit dangerous for us to be running into… well, danger? These Team Chaos guys sound scary!"
"I've handled way worse, believe me!" Ash calls to Mircea.
The two of them eventually keep running until they bump into two people blocking their way. Ash looks up and sees that the two people are wearing black and greyish clothes. They look like jumpsuits, with matching black ascots around their necks, and masks with a small C imprinted in between their eyes.
"Hey, who're you, punk?!" The first one, with a man's voice, asks angrily, turning around to face Ash.
"You got some nerve, kid!" The other one, with a woman's voice adds. "Sneaking up on the great Team Chaos like that!"
"T-Team Chaos?" Mircea stammers.
The two masked goons look at each other and share a hearty laugh.
"Yeah, better stand back kiddo, 'cause Team Chaos is gonna ruin your day!" the masked man snickers, before chucking out a Poké Ball, his female associate following suit.
Out of the man's Poké Ball pops a new Pokémon Ash has not seen before. It appears to be a dark grey or blackish wolf-like creature, with very sharp pointy fangs, and red markings on its body, a spiky tail sticking out from the back.
Ash held his Pokédex up to the new Pokémon to examine it.
"Gnawolf, the Pup Pokémon, and a Dark type. Gnawolf are known for being very vicious and aggressive Pokémon, that love eating just about any kind of food. They hate the sunlight and spend a lot of their time outside in the darkness as much as possible."
The woman's Poké Ball opens up and reveals another new Pokémon for Ash to see. It is a stag-beetle like Pokémon, with a brown body and huge chainsaw-like mandibles. Ash moves his Pokédex over to the other new Pokémon and examines it.
"Chainsect, the Iron Stag Pokémon, and a Bug and Steel combo type. Chainsect's huge mandibles very much resemble chainsaws, and they seem to spend a lot of time cutting down trees, or just about anything wooden that gets in their way. They often fight for territory with Durant."
"Come on, Mircea. Let's take these clowns on together!" Ash declares, Pikachu leaping off of his shoulder.
"Pika!"
"Um… r-right…" Mircea replies sheepishly, before taking his backpack off his back and he places it on the ground.
"Ok, Marmelon. Time to battle!" But Marmelon is fast asleep.
"Come on, Marmelon! You need to wake up!" Mircea begins to panic, but Marmelon just snores in response.
"Bwahahaha! You little twerps can't even get your Pokémon to fight, ha!" the man laughs.
"How pathetic, sick 'em, Chainsect!" the woman cackles, as her Chainsect leaps into the air, its mandibles spread wide open.
"Chaiiiiinnn!" it cries out before clamping its mandibles around Mircea's backpack.
"H-hey! Get off!" Mircea shouts as he picks up his backpack and tries desperately to shake Chainsect off.
"Haha!" the woman mocks. "Chainsect's mighty mandibles have your precious little Marmelon all caught up!"
"And that's good for us since I have it right where I want it! Go Gnawolf! Use Bite!" The masked man yells out as his Gnawolf races over to the backpack with the sleeping Marmelon inside and opens its mouth wide, revealing rows of sharp, pointy teeth.
"Pikachu, use Electro Ball on Chainsect!" Ash shouts out.
"Pika pika, chu pika!" Pikachu cries out as it unleashes a large yellow ball of lightning from its tail and it hits Chainsect directly on its head, causing Chainsect to fly away from the backpack.
"Now use Quick Attack to push it down to the ground, then use Iron Tail on its head and knock it away to Gnawolf!"
Pikachu leaps high into the air and zips straight down onto Chainsect, before finishing it off with a quick Iron Tail, sending Chainsect flying all the back into Gnawolf, causing them both to fall over.
"Oh come on, Chainsect!" the woman yells angrily before returning Chainsect to its Poké Ball. "You had better get us out of this mess, or the boss is gonna dock our pay!" she turns her anger on her fellow grunt.
"A-alright, give me a moment!" he snaps back before turning his attention to Gnawolf, who is just managing to get back on its feet. "Come on, you useless mutt, help me out here!"
Gnawolf gets back up, and then starts to lunge quickly at Pikachu.
"Dodge it, Pikachu!"
Pikachu manages to just miss Gnawolf's sharp jaws, but then both he and Ash realise that Gnawolf was actually heading for the backpack with Marmelon still inside.
"Use Thunderbolt, Pikachu!" Ash declares.
"Pika pika pika pika… chuuuuuuu!" Pikachu's whole body glows yellow and places a well-aimed Thunderbolt right onto Gnawolf, sending it flying back to the two Team Chaos grunts.
"Are you kidding me right now?!" the male grunt snaps angrily, returning Gnawolf to his Poké Ball.
"Forget that! Nab the Pokémon we have and leg it!" The female grunt grabs her male cohort by the wrist and drags him quickly away.
"Oh, you two aren't going anywhere!" Ash shouts out as he chases quickly after them, Mircea picks up his backpack and heads after Ash.
But as the two Team Chaos grunts dash near some trees and begin to grab a giant bag stuffed with Pokémon up, a little bird Pokémon coloured orange with white, brown and black markings and a beautiful plumage swoops down and starts jabbing its beak at the masks of the two grunts.
"Gah! Get off me, you pest!" the male one shouts out, as he swings his arms at the bird Pokémon before it starts pecking on the female grunts mask.
"Stupid twerp!" she shouts trying to swat the bird away.
"Hoooo hooo hooo!" The bird Pokémon calls and then flaps its wings repeatedly and sends out a powerful Gust attack at the two grunts, knocking them off their feet, and tearing a hole in the bag. A rustling can be seen in the bag until some Pokémon start running out of it. First about three Mareep, then a Lillipup, then two more Mareep and finally a Miltank.
Ash and Mircea stop in place as they watch the Pokémon race right past and back to the house. They then both look over at the two Team Chaos grunts whose masks have been pulled off by the bird Pokémon. The male grunt has lime green hair with a slight curl on the left side. The female grunt has fluffy orange hair, the back part of which goes down to her hands.
"Drat! Our cover's been blown!" the male one shouts.
"The Pokémon have escaped too, curse you stupid kids!" his female associate snaps.
"We gotta go tell Decebal about this!" the male grunt legs it quickly away round through some trees.
"Wait for me, you dunderhead!" the female grunt follows shortly behind him.
As Ash and Mircea continue to give chase, Ash notices the bird Pokémon looking at him before flying away.
Meanwhile, up in the skies above everyone…
"What on earth do those no-good bozos think they're doing?!" Jessie snaps angrily, pointing a finger in rage at the two Team Chaos grunts running away. "They are totally copying us!"
"Yeah! Stealing Pokémon and calling others twerps! That's just plain copyright infringement!" James adds, fuming with rage. Mime Jr. copies his mannerisms.
"Mime, mime!"
"We should be the ones stealing all those Pokémon!" Meowth jumps up to look over the balloon's basket. "Let's teach them a lesson!"
Jessie and James nod in agreement.
Back down on the ground, the two Team Chaos grunts have been chased into an open field, where a giant robot, in the shape and design of a lumberjack, has a door on its stomach, where many Chainsects are filing out and cutting down any trees or wooden fences they can find.
"Hey, Decebal! We got trouble!" the male grunt shouts to the man apparently named Decebal, who is standing with his back turned to them.
Decebal turns around to face them. He has a billowing cape on his back, a large C emblem on his chest, and a mask that resembles some kind of Pokémon, though one that has not been seen yet. He also has many markings on his supervillain-esque suit.
"Oh no… Bonnie and Clyde, was it?" he sighed, holding a hand to his head.
"Look, no time to explain!" Clyde shouts in panic. "We've got twerps coming here, and they stole back the Pokémon we stole!"
"And they beat our Pokémon, and there was this bird Pokémon that beat us more and-" Bonnie tries to add.
"Stop. Just… stop." Decebal holds a hand up to the both of them. "You two have been enough of a waste of time for Team Chaos already over the past few years. And this simple task wasn't even enough for you cretins." he groaned loudly. "You're both fired. Do not, and I repeat do not, let me see you ever again!" he turned swiftly back to the deforestation process.
"Oh, come on! Why are you firing us?!" cries Clyde. "We've worked so hard for Team Chaos! Don't let us go!"
"We're so good at stealing Pokémon and being evil and-" Bonnie added before...
"Oh no you're not!" Jessie shouts out as loudly as she could as Team Rocket's signature Meowth balloon slowly descends down towards the ground, Jessie and James standing to attention in the basket.
"Who are you losers?!" Bonnie demands.
"Prepare for trouble, you posers make me puke!" Jessie begins.
"Make it double, now put up your dukes!" James follows on.
"To protect the world from copycats like you!"
"To unite all people with the team that is true!"
"To denounce the evils of copyright infringement!"
"To extend our reach to the-
But before either of them can finish, Meowth whacks them over the head with a remote control.
"Knock it off, you knuckleheads! We have some Pokémon to nab!"
"Hey! We barely finished our motto!" Jessie snaps.
"We need to get it done!" James adds crossly.
"We can talk about it later!" Meowth hits the big red button on his remote control, which causes a robotic body to form underneath the basket of the balloon, it has big treads instead of feet underneath.
"Time to take these fakers down!" Meowth laughs, as he presses another button, and the giant robot launches out an arm at Team Chaos' robot.
"Counter it!" Decebal calls out, and their robot's arms hit against the Meowth balloon ones. Now the two robots are pushing against each other, each trying to push the other one over.
Ash and Mircea rush in and see what was going on.
"H-how do we stop them?" Mircea asks worriedly.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt on as many of those Chainsect's as you can!" Ash shouts out, as Pikachu leaps off his shoulder and dashes off to the army of Chainsects, gnawing away on the trees nearby.
"Pikaaaaaa…. chuuuuuuuu!" Pikachu yells out and launches out many bolts of lightning that zaps through the fields and shocks tons of the Chainsect's at once. Most are either knocked out or running away back to the robot, though, a ton of them are still nibbling away on the wood.
"Oh no! There's too many!" Ash gasps.
Mircea looks back into his backpack after taking it off of his back. He gasps when he sees that Marmelon isn't there.
"Oh no! Where's Marmelon?" he panics.
Ash and Mircea look around before seeing Marmelon, rolling along faster than ever, knocking over tons of the Chainsects.
"Hey Mircea, look! Oh, way to go, Marmelon!" Ash cheers excitedly. Mircea watches with amazement as Marmelon rolls over all the Chainsects, either throwing them clear of the trees or back to the robot.
Meanwhile, Meowth was still busy piloting the robot against the Team Chaos robot, now throwing many punches against it.
"More power!" yells Decebal up to the grunt controlling the robot.
The Team Chaos throws a massive punch towards the Team Rocket robot, causing it to wobble backwards slightly.
Meowth tries desperately to move the robot back upright, but it ends up falling over, flat on its back.
"Oh, come on, Meowth!" Jessie shouts angrily, "Get this thing back up immediately!"
"I'm trying, Jess!" Meowth hurriedly presses as many buttons as he could, the arms slamming down on the ground repeatedly.
"Watch out!" Bonnie cries, pushing Clyde out of the way of the arms going up and down.
"Call back the Chainsect! We're done here!" Decebal calls up to the Team Chaos robot, before climbing inside through a door near the legs.
"Get this thing up, Meowth!" James begins to freak out. "They're getting away!"
"Give me a moment!" Meowth replies, struggling to get the robot back up.
Ash and Mircea turn quickly to face the Team Chaos robot, as it begins to start walking away.
"I bet they've still got some Pokémon in there!" Ash exclaims, before he rushes over to the robot, with Pikachu dashing alongside him.
Suddenly, a loud tweeting sounds out and Ash looks up to see the bird Pokemon from earlier flying towards the Team Chaos robot, and it begins to tweet again.
"Hooooo hooo hoooo!"
Suddenly, the Mareep, Lillipup and Miltank that had been rescued a little while earlier, start running over to the robot and charge at it, the Mareep shooting lightning bolts at its feet, and the Lillipup biting at the wires, whilst the Miltank uses Rollout repeatedly against the legs.
"We should help out! Pikachu, use Thunderbolt on the main body of that robot!" Ash declares.
Pikachu dashes up the legs of the robot, before he grips onto the robot and unleashes a large Thunderbolt attack, shocking the entire robot all over.
"G-Get moving!" Decebal shouts from inside the robot.
Then the bird Pokémon starts spinning its beak around and around, it then begins to glow as it darts like an arrow towards the frame connecting the robot's head with its body, causing it to fly off with a loud thud to the ground.
Then, all the Pokémon stand back as the robot begins to stumble around before eventually, it falls over backwards, and the whole body explodes.
Then, a large group of various Pokémon run out of the robot and cheer upon seeing the other ranch Pokémon.
"All the Pokémon are free!" Mircea cheered happily.
All of the ranch Pokémon gather together and run off back to the ranch.
Ash and Mircea then look up to see Decebal and some Team Chaos goons flying away with jetpacks. Decebal looks down at them both and sneers angrily.
"We'll be back some other day, kid!" Decebal shouts down to Ash and Mircea. "You'll regret the day you ever dared to cross Team Chaos!"
"Come back, Decebal!" Clyde shouts up but he is long gone.
"Grrrr, you haven't seen the last of us either, twerp!" he snaps angrily at Ash and races away into the distance.
"Hey, Clyde! Wait up already!" Bonnie shouts to him before chasing after him.
Ash and Mircea turn around to face Team Rocket's robot, before Pikachu, without Ash even telling him what to do, launches a Thunderbolt at it, causing it to explode and blast Team Rocket into the air.
"First the twerps, then those copycats Team Chaos!" Jessie fumes angrily.
"Have they no shame?!" James adds.
"It's just another day in the life of Team Rocket…" Meowth sighs.
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" all three of them shout before they become a shine of light in the sky.
Ash and Mircea high-five each other for a job well done and head back to the ranch house.
"Man, I can't thank you kids enough!" Florin exclaims, hugging his Lillipup.
"Thank you ever so much for stopping Team Chaos and getting our Pokémon back!" Camela adds, as she strokes the head of her Miltank.
"It was no trouble at all!" Ash smiles happily, before all four of them heard a small, but sharp knocking on the door.
"Ah, I expect Hoopkoo saw your bravery first-hand." Florin chuckles as he walks over to the front door.
"Hoopkoo?" Ash asks as he looks down at the bird Pokémon from earlier, now jumping in front of him in the house.
He holds his Pokédex in front of it.
"Hoopkoo, the Tiny Bird Pokémon, and a Normal and Flying type combo. Hoopkoo are known for their strange calls that they can use to mimic a lot of other species of Pokémon. They are fierce fighters though they have a tendency to try fighting Pokémon larger than itself. They have a strong sense of justice and will do anything to protect its friends."
"Hoopkoo visits here a lot, I think it's looking for a strong trainer to travel with." Camela explains.
Ash looks back down at Hoopkoo and smirks.
"Hey, Hoopkoo! How would you like to travel around with me?" Ash asks, holding a Poké Ball in his hand.
"Hooooo hoooo!" Hoopkoo replies confidently.
Ash chucks the ball at Hoopkoo, who goes inside immediately. The ball falls to the floor and shakes once.
Twice.
Thrice.
Then it clicks.
Ash grabs the Poké Ball and holds it up, a big grin on his face.
"Alright! I caught a Hoopkoo!"
Pikachu jumps alongside him and cheers.
"Pika pika chu!"
"That's my first Pokémon caught here in the Anora Region, I'm so happy." he exclaims.
"I hope you and Hoopkoo have many happy memories together." Florin smiles.
"We sure will!" Ash replies.
"Would you two like to have a meal for your hard work before you go?" Camela asks. "You both deserve it."
"Thanks, that's so nice of you!" Mircea beams brightly, and the four of them sit down together as they all eat a big meal. Pikachu, Marmelon, Hoopkoo and some of the ranch Pokémon eating all together as well.
After an encounter with both Team Rocket and a new organization named Team Chaos, as well as catching his first Pokémon in the Anora Region, Hoopkoo. Ash and Mircea will once again be heading on their way to Marguerite City for Ash's first Gym Battle in Anora. I'm just on the edge of my seat thinking about what adventures will come next, and if you feel the same way, make sure to stay tuned…
