"Stop right there, criminal scum!" Town Guard, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
They gathered around Mike's truck.
It turned out that the guy who rescued them could fix the engine.
He used parts Sam had found in the warehouses. They were filled with a lot of random crap. Including tools and materials you would expect a mechanic to have.
Now Mike could get the delivery to Heaven done. It was going to be the last one for now. He had enough of this job.
"Thanks for helping with the truck," Mike said to the emergency services guy. The man just shrugged.
"That's my job," MIA said. He was supposed to help people out. He also wanted nothing more than to leave this station. "You can call me if you ever need transport anywhere. It's a side business I have."
That would probably be useful in the future. Who knew where they might need to go in the future.
"Anywhere?"
"Anywhere."
Mike wondered how far did this guy consider "anywhere".
"So, uh guys," he turned towards Sam and Greene. They were practically friends by now. "I was thinking about moving to Heaven. It's supposed to be a nice city and I thought... Wanna come with me? You said you really don't have much going on in the town and real estate in Heaven is pretty cheap right now."
"What? Dude, we know each other for barely a day!"
"We did survive that psycho together. We're basically BFFs by now."
"Huh. True."
Sam thought about it for a moment.
"I don't see why not. I think the three of us together could afford to buy a nice place there," Sam said. She had nothing against leaving her hometown. The place was boring as all hell.
Greene was fine with the idea too. Currently, he had nothing better to do.
"I'm cool with it."
"Just like that?"
"It's not just like that. Home is boring as all hell so moving out would be good for us.," Sam explained. Mike could understand that reason.
"Great. So, my idea is that I get the delivery done and then come back for you. That will take a day or two."
"Reasonable."
Sam then remembered something that made her feel a little stupid.
"Um. We don't actually know your name," she said to the emergency services guy.
"It's MIA," he answered.
Everyone gave him confused looks.
"MIA?"
"That's what everyone calls me."
A nickname then. An unusual one. Sam wondered how did he get it. Did he go missing once or something?
"What's your real name?" Greene really wanted to know.
"I'd rather keep that to myself."
That caused more puzzled looks. Was he someone known? Did he do something and was now in hiding?
Mike shrugged. If he doesn't want to say no one is going to force him.
"If you want to then sure."
"It's time for me to get out of here. My job here is done," MIA said with satisfaction. He could finally enjoy his free time. If someone tried to interrupt, he would shoot them.
"Bye man."
"Bye guys."
They said their goodbyes.
MIA got into his car and drove away. His job here was done. He also had to get Freddy into a cell. The nutjob was in the backseat. His arms and legs were tied.
MIA was not going to tempt fate.
Sam and Greene went to start packing their stuff and Mike went to finish his delivery. He hoped that nothing bad would happen to him while he was taking care of it.
He couldn't help but wonder what kind of interesting things would happen in Heaven now that he was moving there.
He didn't believe even for a second that nothing weird would be going on. Not with his luck.
On the way to Heaven, Mike was passing through a large town.
He was immediately stopped by annoying policemen. They were waiting at the entrance to the down. One of them Mike didn't even get a good look at. The guy immediately went into nearby bushes to take a leak. The other one was telling them that they couldn't let him into the town. Some sort of an emergency.
"I'm very sorry but I can't let you go through with that," he said. He was talking about Mike's cargo. He was in this town for less than five seconds and already there were problems. He had no idea what their problem with his cargo was and the cop wasn't being too helpful.
His truck was right next to the police car.
"Then I want to talk with your superior," Mike nearly growled at the cop. What the hell was the problem with his cargo? Everything was legal.
"That I can do for you. Commander! Some people want to talk with you!" he shouted. Mike hadn't expected that. The guy's boss was actually here?
The second man walked out of the bushes. Only then did they finally get a good look at him.
Mike's jaw dropped.
'Oh fuck.'
It was Freddy.
He wore the same clothes with the same red pattern.
"What is it," the madman growled. He didn't seem to recognize Mike.
'Nope,' Mike thought. He wasn't going to deal with this. He could get to Heaven using a different route. Anything but this psycho. He had no idea how he escaped and became a cop. Actually, he didn't want to know.
Mike put the car in reverse and hastily retreated leaving a cloud of dust. He was not going to be dealing with this.
Freddy and the policeman stared after him.
