Leonard and Sheldon meet their new neighbour, a blonde haired lady called Bernadette. Part 3, restaurant invitation.

After the bookcases Bernadette became good friends with her neighbours across the hall. Then one day, when Sheldon was absent, Leonard invited Bernadette over for a cup of tea.

"Bernadette, do you like Italian food? There is a new restaurant opened near Caltech, Sheldon and I are thinking of going for a meal there some time, would you like to join us?"

"Sure, it would be great to go to a restaurant and not have to serve food to people. I am free Friday evening."

"Great, I will make the arrangements."

Next Friday at the restaurant

"Hello Bernadette, glad that you could make it."

"Where's Sheldon?"

"Friday night is Laundry Night, he couldn't make it."

"Oh what a shame."

"So how is the Ph.D going?"

"I had a busy day in the lab, I made some progress but still a long way to go. Sometimes I think I will never get that Ph.D. it is good to talk to someone who has been through the process. I am the first person in my family to go to graduate school."

"Every Ph.D student, with the possible exception of Sheldon, thinks they are never going to finish. It is like eating an elephant, it takes a long time but you should get there in the end of you persevere."

"Are you the first person in your family to go to graduate school Leonard?"

"Far from it, I grew up near Princeton University, my father is Professor of Anthropology and my mother is Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. My sister is a medical researcher and my brother is a Law Professor. I am the underachiever of the family. They are all on the east coast and I am on the west coast, I am happy with that."

"Very different to my family, my father is a retired police officer and my mother was a housewife and child minder."

"Here's the waiter, what do you want to eat..."

After the meal they returned to Los Robles. Bernadette kissed Leonard on the cheek "thanks for a lovely evening Leonard, I have an early shift tomorrow so I will see you later". Then she went into 4B.

Saturday night Bernadette returned from The Cheesecake Factory, as she walked up stairs she met Sheldon carrying a basket of laundry.

"Good evening Bernadette, laundry done for another week."

"You did your laundry tonight?"

"Of course, Saturday night is always laundry night."

They both reached level 4

"I see, I think I need to have a word with Dr. Hofstadter."

Sheldon opened the door of 4A followed by Bernadette.

"Hello Bernadette, nice to see you again."

"So Sheldon does his laundry on Friday night does he?"

"Of course I don't, haven't I just told you."

"Well last night I went out to dinner with Dr. Hofstadter who said you couldn't join us as you were doing laundry."

"So that's where you went last night, I had to come home from Caltech on the bus and I didn't have my bus pants!"

"OK Sheldon, where would you like to go out with me?"

"Well there is a lecture at UCLA by Neil deGrasse Tyson next Monday, I was going to go with Leonard."

"Well I think Dr. Hofstadter can do laundry on Monday night by himself. I would be honoured to accompany you to the lecture Sheldon."

"The lecture starts at 7.30pm."

"I can make that, I look forward to spending the evening with you Sheldon." Bernadette stood on the table, kissed Sheldon on the cheek and then stormed out of 4A.
