Hello all. Here you go!

Dreams and Knots

After the announcement of the Tri-Wizard tournament, people wanted to talk of nothing else. Everywhere you went conversations of, "Tri-Wizard that", or "Isn't he delicious," even "Those girls are above reproach compared to the dully ones here." That remark of course, warranted a good bashing. That's why Emerald has found herself in the library. Peace and quiet thanks to Madame Pince who of course, gave a glare to anyone disrupting that peace.

"As if this didn't get any worse," Emerald sighed to herself as she slumped in her chair. It was late afternoon, and classes were cancelled so as to have an early dinner. Professor Dumbledore was to make an additional announcement regarding the tournament. Emerald had been working on her Transfiguration essay. It was not due until the following week, but as the most studious in her year besides Hermione, she needed to get it done so she could revise it.

"Where is Hermione anyway, she's late." Emerald said glancing around where she was at. Not seeing her poufy-headed friend she decided to go back to working on her essay. She was lost in her essay when a voice startled her.

"You know," a voice said breaking her concentration. She turned and saw Professor Garrett half way behind a book shelf. "Transfiguration is a lot like Charms. Annunciating is the most important thing to work on." He said.

"Professor Garrett, yeah, uh huh, thanks. I'll remember that." Emerald said as she looked side-ways at him then at her paper. "Wait! An American accent?" she asked facing him now.

He smirked. Emerald knew then and there she will always hate THAT smirk. She didn't like what it did to her stomach. Damn knots.

"Yes." He simply said walking and sitting across from her.

She looked around and noticed they were the only two in the library. Everyone else had already left to get ready for dinner. Madame Pince knew to not ask Emerald anymore. She had already given her and Hermione permission to lock-up once they were done if it became after-hours.

"No offense, but how did you end up here?" she was genuinely curious.

"I've known Professor Dumbledore for a long time." He stated simply. He just seemed to stare at her. She was starting to feel uncomfortable and began to pack her things.

"So you're the girlfriend of Cedric Diggory," he said rather than asked. It startled her.

"Ahem, well yes."

"He's a good student. Seems like a good kid." He continued to stare at her.

"Well yes. He's a good guy. He helps me and Hermione a lot with Charms. He's a gentleman. Rare to find those these days." She finished packeing her things.

"Ah yes, Ms. Granger. I've heard about her too. You and her are quite the duo with your studies I hear."

"I guess; we do study a lot. I'm sorry to leave but I've got to get ready for dinner," she said as she started walking away only to come up short with him in front of her. 'How did he move so fast?'

"I apologize if I've spoken out of turn. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." He said slightly bowing. 'Who the heck bows anymore!'

"Uhmm, not at all. It's fine." Emerald stammered.

"Well do have a good evening, enjoy your dinner." He said moving out of the way and putting his hands behind his back.

"You as well," Emerald said before briskly walking out of the library. He followed her. Unknowingly to her, he was smirking the whole time. They got outside of the library and she locked up. She turned to look at him and he was gone. 'How is he so fast?'

After Emerald had dropped off her things in her dorm she made her way to the Great Hall. Deciding to sit with Cedric for dinner she made her way over to him.

"Love? What are you doing over here?" Cedric asked smiling at his girlfriend. He gave her a kiss on the hand.

"Decided to sit with you tonight, that alright?" Emerald asked now unsure if it was really ok.

"Of course, don't be silly!" he ushered her to sit beside him. After saying hello to the group around them she sat down next to him.

"How was your day? I didn't get to see you since this morning. We had practice at lunch." Cedric said rubbing her hand in his.

"A whole lot of studying. Essay due. I've got practice tomorrow. I'm tired just thinking about it." Emerald laughed.

"That's nothing for you love, have you been sleeping?" he looked at her worriedly.

Now that he mentions it, she hasn't been sleeping too well. Dreams have been plaguing her. Not really dreams, you can put them as nightmares. Lights flashing, a lot of green shooting around everywhere. White light and thunder clashing in the background. She could hear screaming as well. But not all of the dreams were bad. There was a voice. She didn't know who it belonged to, it was sort of muffled, like background noise. She could make out, "It's yours," and "Always here," but that's it. She looked at Cedric and realized she hadn't said anything.

"Oh Ced, don't be silly, of course I have. Just not as much as I'd have liked. Thank Merlin the weekend is coming. I'll catch up then." She smiled a tight smile and looked down. Cedric frowned although she didn't see it. He just kissed her forehead. She looked around and spotted Draco and the gang. She waved and he nodded in her direction but glared at Cedric. She rolled her eyes, 'The bloody git will just have to get used to Cedric at some point'.

"Wow, look at the food!" came a voice next to her. She hadn't realized the food appeared. Emerald started eating. Silently thanking Merlin, they decided to make some soup. She felt like eating light. Maybe some chicken as well so Cedric wouldn't worry.

After eating, Professor Dumbledore said it would be a few minutes until the announcement so everyone got up and moved to sit with their friends. Emerald decided to stay with Cedric, Harry and Hermione decided to come over and sit with them. Ron followed along with Seamus and Dean.

"Granger where were you this evening!" Emerald whispered harshly.

"Geez, you sound like Malfoy working on an assignment." Hermione replied arching an eyebrow.

Emerald couldn't take it anymore and laughed. "Haha, I'm sorry Herms, but seriously, you ditched me!" Emerald pouted her lips.

"Oh my Emers, I'm sorry, I got caught up helping Harry and Ron with their essays. I lost track of time. I was going to let you know, but you got here late to dinner." Hermione said as she went to Emerald and weaved her arms through Emeralds and put her head on her shoulder. "Forgive me?" she pouted.

"Oh! I'm not looking at you!" Emerald huffed and looked at Cedric. Cedric was just smiling. "What?" she asked.

He put his finger to her chin and pushed it towards Hermione's direction. Emerald looked down. "Hmph, fine whatever!" Harry and Cedric laughed.

There was a lot of laughing at the Ravenclaw table and Harry looked over to see what was going on. Immediately he saw bright blonde hair. Long bright blonde hair. The girl looked at Harry and something sparked inside. Harry kept looking at the girl wondering who she was, but Professor Dumbledore started his speech and Harry looked away.

"Thank you all. Now, I'm sure most of you are excited for the upcoming tournament." He was met with claps and whistling. "Here to give the rules is Mr. Bartimus Crouch, Head of the Ministry of Magic's Department of International Magical Cooperation." He waved for an older gentleman to come forth. The older man made his way near the podium.

"Good Evening. Now, no one under the age of 17 shall be able to compete due to the extreme dangers the contest beholds." Mr. Crouch was met with a lot of booing from the students.

"Silence!" came the booming voice of Professor Dumbledore to which everyone stopped talking. He waived his hand and the lights that were once bright had dimmed within seconds. He waived his wand against a gold statue. The gold started to melt and with what once stood a tall golden pillar with jewels is now a medium pillar with a golden chalice floating on top.

"The champions will be chosen by an impartial selector: The Goblet of Fire. Anybody wishing to submit themselves as champion must write their name and school clearly upon a slip of parchment and drop it into the goblet, aspiring champions have twenty-four hours in which to put their names forward. Tomorrow night, the goblet will return the names of the three it has judged most worthy to represent their schools. The goblet will be placed in the entrance hall tonight, where it will be freely accessible to all those wishing to compete. Also, for whomsoever becomes the champion, they will of course receive a prize." He pointed his wand towards a cover and it flew off to reveal an awesome looking trophy. "Eternal glory. That is what beholds the winner of this competition." Professor Dumbledore ended on that note and decided to consort with Mr. Crouch as well as the other professors.

Everyone went to bed that night dreaming of either who would be the champion, or what would happen if they become the champion. All Harry and Emerald dreamt that night is of the flashing green lights, the lightening, and sinister voices.

"Eternal glory, would be great wouldn't it?" Ron asked Harry as they sat down on one of the hall benches.

"Better you than me," Harry replied.

It was Friday afternoon. It was raining outside. Classes were finished for the day so there were people hanging around the hall watching to see who would put their name in the goblet. A few people Harry knew but most he did not.

There were loud yells and laughing from a group incoming from outside. There was loud, "Come on Ced!" and "You've got this put it in!" In the middle of the group were Cedric and Emerald being shuffled by the big group of Hufflepuffs. With the group laughing, Emerald and Cedric had eyes only for each other and they kissed. People yelled and whooped all around. He let go of Emerald's hand and went to the goblet. He crossed what looked like a circular line around the goblet and dropped his name in. With nothing happening everyone cheered. He ran back to Emerald and scooped her up and twirled her around. They were both wet from being outside. They laughed and kissed again. "I'm going to go change, I'll see you later love!" He left with his friends back to their dorms. She waived to the rest of them as they went. She took out her wand and did a drying spell. After she was done she went to sit down with Harry and Ron.

"Boys," she signed and Harry laughed. "What do you think Harry?" she asked pointing to the goblet.

Harry looked at it, "better them than us, don't think I could take the pressure." He replied smiling.

"Nor I to be sure," she leaned back.

"Me neither, how does Cedric do it?" came Hermione's voice as she sat down with her Ancient Runes book.

"He's nervous. His Dad all but shouted praise at him in his letter when he said he'd compete." Emerald said.

"What about you?"

"Oh you know, supportive girlfriend and all," she sighed.

"But…." Hermione prodded.

"I'm scared to death, but he has me no matter what." Emerald said.

"Then he's good to go," Harry said nudging Emerald's shoulder to which she thanked him. Ron just snorted.

"What Weasley? Jealous?" came the voice of Draco.

"Back off Malfoy, it's none of your business." Ron mumbled.

"It is to my business Weasley, if you're being rude to my sister." Draco said as Theo and Blaise walked up behind him giving Ron the same glare.

"Really Draco it's fine."

"No it's not. You haven't done anything wrong." He sneered.

"Oh just leave it, Ron, be nice." Hermione scolded.

"Yeah yeah," Ron said going over to Dean and Seamus.

"Ems let's go, practice calls," Draco said giving Emerald his hand. She took it and waved to Harry and Hermione. Just as they were making their way to the doors, the Weasley twins made a raucous as they came in shouting that they've "done it!" Draco went to leave but Emerald stopped him. "No Drac, we've got to see this." He nodded and they went to the side to watch.

"We've done it. Cooked it up just this morning!" Fred said. The twins help up a vile each of some potion.

"It's not going to work," Hermione told them.

"Why do you say that Granger?" asked George.

She sighed and closed her book. "You see this," she pointed to the line around the goblet, "this is an age line, Dumbledore drew it himself."

"So." The twins replied.

"Ah, so," she said slightly annoyed, "a genius like Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by a dodge as pathetically dimwitted as an aging potion."

"But that's why it's so brilliant," said Fred.

"Because he's so pathetically dimwitted," finished George. They then stood up.

"Ready Fred."

"Ready George."

They snaked their arms around each other's, "bottoms up", they said in unison and drunk the potion. Nothing happened and everyone shouted and clapped. They jumped in the circle together. Again, nothing happened and they each put a paper with their names written on it. Nothing happened again and they high fived each other. A few seconds later the blue fire that once was held in the goblet blew up in to red flames and two fire balls hit Fred and George in the stomach and propelled them away from the goblet to the other side of the room.

Laughing could be heard all around the hall. The twins sat up and looked at each other. They each now sported long white hair and beards almost like Dumbledore.

"You said!" George yelled.

"No, you said!" Fred replied and they got into a fight.

Everyone around them started shouting fight. Emerald and Draco stood smirking. Theo and Blaise were over by the other shouting with them. Just then Viktor Krum and his Headmaster walked in and everyone became silent. Fred and George were still arguing and fighting in the background. Viktor walked up to the cup and dropped his name in. As he turned he looked at Hermione and she looked at him for a second longer than necessary and walked away. Emerald side-glanced Draco and noticed his face was turning red. She nudged him and dragged him out of the hall towards the doors to go out to Quidditch practice for the evening.
