I stood in the living room with my trunk, waiting nervously for Draco and his parents to arrive. He said that they were arriving by wizarding travel, though he didn't specify WHICH kind of travel.
He probably likes the element of surprise ...
The element of surprise was the right way to put it. I jumped as three people spun into sight right next to me, holding a newspaper.
"Dafuq?" I raised an eyebrow at Draco as his parents introduced themselves rather haughtily to Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon.
"It's a Portkey." He explained. "You charm a completely random object to arrive somewhere at a specified time, then you attach yourself to it, and you arrive along with it."
"Cool!" I grinned. "And I see you've ditched the hair gel."
It was true. His hair was all fluffy and soft looking - okay I'll stop.
We kind of stood there awkwardly for a second, then we both launched ourselves at each other Hollywood-style.
"I've missed you so much!" I pretended to sob into his jacket.
"Same, even though it's only been a week and a half!" Draco sobbed into my hair.
"Wait," I said, pulling away, "does that mean you missed yourself? You said 'same' when I said that I'd missed you ..."
Draco had a confused look on his face. I sniggered and smirked at him.
"Shut up." He said, his cheeks pink as I laughed.
Harry and Dudley were awkwardly lingering to the side.
"Harry, you sure you don't wanna come?" I asked him.
"I'm sure. Dudley and I'll have a great time, don't worry." Harry grinned. Dudley nodded.
"Alright. Well, bye!" I grinned, hugging my cousin, then my twin.
"Stay safe, okay?" Harry whispered in my ear. I jerked away, raising an eyebrow.
"Why?" I hissed.
"I can tell ... it's in your eyes ..."
"WHAT?" I asked exasperatedly.
"Someone or something's been trying to get inside your mind or something. I saw it last term." Harry told me, a worried look in his eye. "Just be careful."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes at my brother as I hugged my aunt and uncle. "I'll be fine."
Famous last words?
Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy produced another newspaper, which was glowing.
"Quick, Draco, Daisy!" Narcissa cried.
We both latched onto the newspaper, everyone else in the room waving - then -
Everything disappeared and things started swirling around us - I felt like a hook had jerked around my naval - we were spinning around in circles, and we kept bumping into each other. It was so cool!
We landed with a bump on hard ground. Well, our feet did, and I swayed, almost crashing to the ground, but Draco quickly tugged me upright before I hit the floor.
"Thanks." I grinned.
Then I looked up, and the grin completely fell off of my face.
We were standing outside of huge gates leading to a massive ... mansion was the only word for it. It had hundreds of windows, and it had several turrets, but it looked kinda dark to me. There were huge hedges stretching up to the sky on either side of us, and peacocks were prancing along the top of them.
"Holy ..." I gasped, looking up at the mansion again.
I looked to the left, and I saw Draco smirking at me.
"Yo-you didn't tell me - I thought - you referred to this as - as a HOUSE?!" I stammered.
Draco just smirked even wider.
"Don't you look all smug! I knew you were rich, but this ..." I gazed up at the 'house' again. What the actual ... who has this kind of money?!
"C'mon." Draco held out his hand.
I looked at him.
"It's a charm put on the gates. You have to either be authorised by another charm, be a Malfoy, or be touching a Malfoy to pass through. We haven't got time to do a charm on you out here - or do you want to spend an hour having an extremely complex spell put on you in the freezing cold?"
I rolled my eyes. "Fine!"
I took his hand, trying to ignore the butterflies I felt when I touched his skin.
"Why is - OOOOHHHH -" I shuddered as we passed through the gates. It must have been the spell, because I felt as though one of the ghosts of Hogwarts had walked right through me, only it was a more pleasant sensation. "It so cold out here anyway? It's supposed to be summer."
"I know, right?" We reached the 'house' at last.
"Welcome," Draco said, turning to me, (still holding my hand, as I was hyper-aware of) "to Malfoy Manor!"
~~~
"So." I said, putting my arms behind my head. "Second year. What do you think it's gonna be like, and first year, what did you think of it? You first, then I'll go."
We were lazing around on the bed (children! No! Don't think dirty thoughts, we're just lazing around, half a metre apart, fully-clothed - I'm gonna stop talking now) in one of the many spare rooms of Malfoy Manor which was now mine for a few days, before I went to Terry's, then Hermione's, then to Amy's.
"Second year is going to be hectic, because you're going to be there." ("Don't jinx it!") Draco said. "And first year ... WELL ..."
We both lay in silence for a few minutes, remembering our crazy year.
"Yeah, it was crazy. Completely crazy." He finished. "You?"
"Well, second year is going to be fun." I grinned, remembering the hexes I'd put on Fred and George's clothing after Christmas, and the revenge I was going to get on Blaise. "You were right when you said that Zabini is going to need a bodyguard."
Draco looked at me, scared.
"And first year ... actually, on second thoughts, let's not even go there. I have no comment!" I laughed.
At around midnight, I got out of bed, bored. I couldn't sleep.
I wandered over to the windowsill and rested my palms there, looking out over the grounds. I was pretty high up, on one of the top floors.
I grabbed my wand. Maybe I could create noiseless fireworks or something to keep me entertained. Draco had told me that we could do magic out of school without the Ministry knowing - they have a record of WHERE people do magic, but not if they're underage or not, or who it was, so they can't tell if it was legal or not. They just assume that the kid's parents would keep them from doing magic.
I slid up the window, slipping outside, and perched on the windowsill. I was suddenly reminded of the time when Floppy hung me out of the Astronomy Tower, and I slowed down time.
What if I can still do it?
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, then -
"Daisy?" A hiss cut through the air. "What are you DOING?!"
I opened my eyes and looked round. Draco was perched on his windowsill, the bedroom next to mine's.
"Don't tell me you're suicidal! Whatever it is, I can help! You're not alone -" He babbled.
"Dragon, I'm not suicidal! What the hell!" I laughed.
"Then how do you explain trying to - to kill yourself?!" He sounded panicked. I rolled my eyes. I seemed to be doing that a lot lately.
"I wasn't! Look, I can slow down time, remember? Watch."
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath again.
"No, Daisy!" Draco squeaked, as I pushed myself off the ledge.
I felt the air whipping past me, threading through my hair, pushing against my skin. Then everything slowed down, except for me. I looked up and saw Draco fainting yet again. He's a pansy.
I touched down on the ground. Draco was still falling. Then I tried something which completely changed my perspective of my powers forever.
I leapt up and my foot touched the wall of the Manor. Then ... I just kept stepping up. I was walking up, literally, walking on the walls of the mansion. I was walking vertically! This was so weird!
I caught Draco as he fell past me. Oh, wait, he wasn't fainting after all - he just fell. LMAO.
"That was incredible." He breathed as I set him on his feet in my room. "You are really powerful, you know that?"
I grinned sheepishly, though there was nothing to be sheepish about.
"You should get to sleep." He said softly, reaching up and brushing my cheek with the tips of his fingers as he passed me out of the room.
I found that I could get to sleep easily now.
~~~
"Bye, Dragon!" I waved as Terry grabbed my hand, the Portkey glowing. We were outside the gates, and Terry had arrived via Portkey.
"Bye Daze!" He called back as we disappeared in a swirl of colours and landed in Terry's cosy looking house.
His parents were there, smiling down at us. We were on the floor, because we still haven't gotten used to it. At least I have an excuse, but Terry hasn't! He's been travelling like this for twelve years!
"Hi, Mr and Mrs Boot!" I beamed, jumping up.
"Hi, Daisy." They grinned at me. Yep, I know where Terry got his ... um, mischievousness from ...
So, pretty much all we did there was discuss pranks that Terry's parents, Aaron and Morgan Boot did at Hogwarts, and what we did at Hogwarts. They were impressed.
Us two also trekked to the ghost town near Terry's house. It was freaking creepy.
Then I went to Hermione's house. Her Muggle parents were awesome, and so was her house. Her bedroom was full of books, like I'd suspected.
Then, last of all, I went to Amy's house. Suzanne and Shannon turned up as well, and we held a party on the night Amy's parents weren't home.
Harry and I were going to the Weasley's at the end of August.
When I returned home, to bone-crushing hugs from all four family members, I unpacked my suitcase only to find a small black book which I hadn't remembered packing ... which I hadn't remembered getting at all ...
I must have accidentally picked it up somewhere.
But it had a year on it. And a name. 1950, and Tom Riddle ...
That name and year was familiar, but why?
