It was so ridiculously easy to trick the little firsties.

Especially the Muggleborns.

Dumbles and Minnie had asked him countless times not to do it, but they had no authority over him. Once upon a time, there were some people who had authority over him, but they were dead. So, now, nobody could tell him anything and Peeves could play pranks on as many ickle little firsties as he wanted.

His favourites were Hufflepuffs. They were just so gullible.

The first days of school were always the best and he couldn't help but grin when he saw two girls come around the corner. Gryffindors, by the looks of it, which was a little disappointing, but he could still deal with them.

"I have no idea where we are, Lily," one of them wailed.

The other, a girl with flaming red hair tried to comfort her. "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll find it eventually, Mary."

"But we're going to be late!"

"I know." This seemed to trouble 'Lily' a lot more than she let on.

He watched them reach the end of the corridor, sigh, then turn back on their own steps before appearing to them in all of his ghostly form. Then, putting on his kindest (and most fake smile) he turned to them.

"Are you girls lost?" he asked.

The girls looked up, startled to see him. "Yes, we are," the bravest one of the two, Lily, said.

"Well, I can help you. I know the castle inside out."

"Really?" Mary exclaimed. "Oh, thank you Mr Ghost!"

Peeves couldn't help but internally scoff at the moniker. No one had ever called him 'mister'. Either way, he kept his smile on, thinking how hilarious it would be once they'd walked right into his trap.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"The transfiguration classroom."

Peeves smiled. "It's just one floor down, and the third door on your left."

"Thank you!"

The two girls hurried off, almost tripping over their too long robes. Needless to say, Peeves hadn't given them the right directions at all. Rather, he'd led them straight to door with a bucket of flour balanced on top of it.

And, surely enough, a few minutes later, he heard a cry from he two girls who were probably looking quite pastry-like.

Peeves burst out laughing. Oh, how he loved teasing those ickle little darling firsties!
