Day 3: Crying Into Chest / Holding Back Tears

Misato was sick of this deep-seated misery. It was an empty void in her chest that never filled, no matter how happy or strong she forced herself to behave. She worked hard, played hard, but always felt like she was on the verge of tears.

Which is why it was such a relief to bury her face in Kaji's chest and sob.

She was always worried about what other people would think of her. She couldn't cry at work, obviously. She had to guard herself at home with Shinji and Asuka. She even feared Ritsuko's judgement.

But whatever faults Kaji had, he was safe. He didn't judge. Around him, she could just be sad.
