Mahalia and Gray had tracked the bandits to an old house on the edge of town. They had been giving the town some trouble; stealing things, performing magic on people, trying to recruit the homeless and young teens who were trying to find their way in life. The Mayor of the town called them down to get rid of the bandits and that's what the Fairies were going to do.
Currently Mahalia was trying to get a feel of the area, trying to see how everything was through the Earth itself. It was a handy tool that Mahalia was perfecting and while it wasn't perfect, it was improving. She was constantly becoming one with nature, and nature welcomed her with open arms. It was a perk of being the Earth Dragon Slayer.
"There's at least five bandits in that house," Mahalia stated, glancing over at Gray who frowned at that thought. They didn't seem to know eternal magic, only used magic they could buy at magic shops. Or they were just learning it and weren't very skilled.
"Okay. We need to lure them out somehow," Gray murmured, deep in thought. "Maybe you could throw a boulder or something and make a big noise? Have them panic, maybe think they're caught? Which they totally are with us here." He smirked, confident. Mahalia chuckled, though she knew they had them too. She just wasn't willing to say it out loud because there was something called Karma and it could backfire on them.
Gray went to go hide somewhere close where he could see the fools running out, and Mahalia took her position. Getting into a semi-fighting stance, Mahalia summoned a boulder of medium size and threw it - making a rather loud 'bang!' sound. A few moments passed by before she did it again and this time, there was movement. Bingo. Mahalia nodded towards Gray before hiding behind a tree.
A young adult walked outside looking a bit miffed, glancing around the area. "What the hell was that?" A rough voice called, revealing a young lad that looked to be his brother. Both with short, shaggy blond hair and semi-buffy. Not Laxus or Elfman buffy, but buffy enough to where their arms were ripped and had some muscle.
Muscles One looked around, his eyes trained for anything suspicious. "It was nothing, Joel," he reassured, though didn't sound convinced. Mahlia smirked, throwing another boulder - this time aiming it right at them. "What the fu-" he got cut off when Gray threw some ice at him, making him dodge the attack. "We've got company!" Muscles yelled, alerting the other bandits in the house.
"So they've sent someone after us?" Joel chuckled darkly, seeming to enjoy they were a big enough threat to get a guild called onto them as the others raced out of the house at their leaders' call. Mahalia was assuming Muscles One was the leader. Three others, as Mahalia guessed, stood beside the two; ready to fight for them.
"Not just someone, you asshole!" Gray shot a spear-ice at him, making him duck out of the way and grab one of the magic guns that his lakies brought. "We're Fairy Tail!" He smirked, making the color of the bandits drain from their faces.
"Oh shit. Boss, these wizards are the real deal!" A shorter muscular male grimaced, not liking how this was going to go down. Fairy Tail, while destructive, got the job done most of the time. Which meant they were going to jail or at least getting community services.
Boss ignored his lakey, turning towards Mahalia as she revealed herself to them - shooting some rocks his way. He dodged all of them skillfully, which made her low-key impressed. Only for a moment before he started shooting literal lightning bolts at her. Cursing, she flipped, narrowly missing the bolts being sent her way.
She really hated lightning magic.
While Mahalia was interacting with the boss of the litter, Gray had already apprehended the smaller bandits - encasing them in ice at their feet. Now it was just the brothers. Gray had Joel, and seemed to be having a tougher time with him and the blaster gun he was using.
Getting down on one knee and placing a hand on the ground, she glanced up at the Boss who paused at what she was doing. She summoned her magic; feeling it pulse through her veins as a dark green magical symbol was revealed around her with a golden trim. "Earth Dragon Slayer: Frenzy Plant!" A bunch of vines; thick and smaller grew quickly from the underbrush. The Boss' eyes widened in alarm and before he could get away, the vines wrapped him up tightly. He tried to wiggle out of them, but they just tightened. "I wouldn't try to get out of I was you," she grinned, walking over as she sent her vines over to Joel - the same fate happening to him. "They get tougher to get out of, and thorns form on the sides from the struggle."
His eyes widened at that, a light bulb going over his head. "You're the Earth Bringer!" He whimpered, obviously knowing he was done for. So much for the confidence he was displaying earlier.
"You're damn right, I am." That was what the general public dubbed her - the Earth Bringer. "Game over for you guys." With that the bandits were taken away. Gray and Mahalia both high-fived each other for a job well-done.
"I knew I had requested the right guild for the job," the Mayor smiled while handing the two teens their jewels. It was 600,000 worth of jewels, so they would each get 300,000. "If we have any more trouble we'll be sure to request you two." The two thanked him before leaving. They would split the reward when they got home.
"You were amazing, Lia." Gray complimented as they made their way towards the train station.
Mahalia gave him a small smile. "You weren't so bad yourself," they worked well together, although they always went on jobs together so that made sense. They knew each other's moves, and knew how to work with each other to get the job done. It made it hard to work with anyone else, especially with how close the two were.
"Have you ever considered making an official team with me?" Gray wondered, making Mahalia raise an eyebrow. "Think about it. Who else do we go on jobs with other than Cana and Elfman? Sometimes Loke comes along, but we're the main two."
"You want to make a team with me?" Mahalia asked in surprise. While it did make sense, it came to a shock. She thought he'd make a team with Loke before he asked her. He nodded his head and she grinned at him. "Sure! I'd love to form a team with you!"
That was when team Frost Thorn was born.
