He was currently at the age of twenty four and was at the level of Archlord. The second oldest was Wei Shi Asuna she along with her younger sister and older brother had split her core however unlike them she had taken her mothers path following the path of endless sword she was currently twenty years old and was an underlord she was off training somewhere and her current location was only known by her parents. The third youngest is Wei Shi Kai the adopted member of the family he follows the path of the Blazing Soulsmith which his adopted father made for him. Kai recognized the portal instantly and no soon did a tall broad man walk out from it. He grabbed the remnant that was forming in a black scaled hand and he crushed it in seconds the other remnant from the man with the red hammer had also formed next to it he grabbed it in his other hand a white scaled one and absorbed the remnant and out of the arm Kai noticed the blood madra vent out. Kai picked up his sister and carried her up to the man Joy had walked up next to him and placed a hand on his shoulder before she turned to the man that had left the portal.
"Hi Lindon, I'm sorry we couldn't stop it, she will be fine right." Joy asked. The man known as Wei Shi Lindon had come to pick up his daughter, mostly likely to fix her arm but probably to lecture Kai about it. Kai had failed him not only had he let the girl cut off his sister's arm but also they had been a part of the killing of the two other lowgolds and he now had to go deliver the news to Naru Saeya.
"I'm sorry dad. I should have been faster." Kai said, with sorrow in his voice after his father had taken his sister out of his hands.
"Do not worry Kai. I will fix her arm and she will be stronger than ever before. Trying to save everyone is not always possible. Be glad you were able to save " Lindon said but as he finished a voice went into Kai's head they must have sent it to Joy as well.
[Hupm I was here as well] The voice said Kai knew who it was. Before he could say anything a purple orb with two boneless arms appeared on the monarch's shoulder. [I'm sure if you had me in you then none of this would have happ-.] The spirit cut off Lindon had said something to him. [Don't worry Kai you did everything you could] Dross said before he disappeared back into Lindon.
"You will be summoned in a month. We must talk but it has nothing to do with what happened. I know you tried your hardest so don't beat yourself up, use this to grow stronger." Lindon said. As he did he stepped back through the portal Keya in his arms and it closed. Kai stood there looking out of the alleyway Joy's arm still on his shoulder. Kai then walked forward to where Kang was still unconscious, picked him up and got back on his green thousand mile cloud. He used it to then fly over towards where Lei and Cui still layed and placed them on his cloud; it wouldn't mean much but they deserved a proper burial. Joy walked over to the final Truegold that was alive strung up in her shadow madra cocoon hanging from the alleyway it fell as she walked over and she then placed half silver cuffs over the man's hands before pushing him onto one of the lowgolds thousand mile clouds and took off back towards Stormrock that currently rested in Blackflame city. They had to go give their report to Naru Saeya.
Kai and Joy had just landed on Stormrock. There were loads of squads outside now they had been gone only an hour but the casualties were bad. Kai landed his cloud and he pulled Kang off it before starting to walk towards a tent that was a makeshift hospital in which there would be life artists that could help fix him for now. He shouted to a few lowgolds that passed him and told them to take him to the tent they rushed over saluting and doing as he said Kai then turned around going back over to his thousand mile cloud when he heard a voice from behind him. "So how did the mission go?, I see you caught them so tell me how my cousin did?" Song Xun said so he hadn't scanned the prisoner or seen behind him. Kai didn't say anything he just stepped out of the way the cloud that sat above Song Xun's head turned to a dark black he walked over to Kai placed his hands on his shoulders and just wept.
"I'm sorry." That was all Kai could say to help the man he had almost lost as much as he had but his sister had mostly dodged the attack but the deaths of Kotai Cui and Song Lei had hit him; these were probably generational talents but they had their life cut short.
"Who did this?" Xun asked, looking up towards Kai. If the man wanted to take his anger out on Kai he would let him but that wouldn't bring her back.
"Six truegolds unveiled themselves. The highgold thief was a truegold." Kai replied.
"Where are they now?" Xun asked
"Dead as soon as I arrived I killed every single one of them except the one Joy catched." Kai said.
"Why weren't you close by?" Xun asked him. Xun wanted to find out why they weren't watching or following. Kai had wondered that himself if he was faster he could have stopped it but they liked to give their squad so space as if they showed themselves most thieves would give up as they recognised them.
"We always stay some distance otherwise it doesn't give the apprentices a chance. I regret that I was not closer." Kai said. A crowd had started to gather now as they had seen Joy was taking the prisoner to the cells so she couldn't stop anything. Xun looked up at Kai and swung his fist there was no enforcer technique behind it or striker it was just in pure rage Kai let the fist hit him in the face it wouldn't hurt Kai had been fed loads of strong sacred beast meat so any physical attacks had little effect the only thing was it gave Kai a nose bleed.
"Xun stop now!" Naru Saeya, captain of the Skysworn, was here. Xun stopped immediately. Kai pulled down the mask wiping away the blood before pulling it back up . "Leave for your mission now and make sure you stay alert because you have seen what's out there now." Naru Saeya said to Xun he bowed to Naru Saeya and then to Kai. Kai returned the bow before Naru Saeya said "My office now I need a full report from you and Joy." Kai stood up saluted to Naru Saeya and went off to find Joy.
Kai found Joy questioning the Silent Servant member about what they were doing in Blackflame city and how they got here but they were staying quiet they would rather die than answer her questions but that would change when Saeya came to question maybe Saeya would let his father or mother question them. "Joy leave him. We need to report to Saeya now." Kai said. Joy looked up from the man and walked out slamming the door then telling the truegolds stood outside to take him to his cell she then caught up with Kai who had already started walking towards Saeya's office.
"So what did you think your father meant?" Joy asked. she was trying to distract him from what had happened. He appreciated that.
"Well I think it can only be one thing. The uncrowned king tournament. " Kai said. The last tournament that took place was about 10 years ago and in that tournament his brother Kou had come 4th just losing out to Akura Perseverance who was Joy's older brother. "Meaning he will probably open the valley to us, vassal states and the Akura clan again." Kai said. The Akura clan had multiple locations that allowed for easy advancement to underlord but the monarchs had agreed that having a location for two clans and vassal states to meet would improve their generational talent as they could fight each other and advance.
"Well then, let's hit underlord as soon as possible for the tournament and the valley will be the easiest way right." Joy said. Kai nodded before he opened the door to Naru Saeya's office. Sitting at the desk was Naru Saeya reading a report.
"I have received a report of what happened from a trusted source and what is expected to happen." Naru Saeya said Kai and Joy looked at each other confused no one could have seen the fight and even if there was Kai would have seen them most had fled the area after sensing six truegolds.
"Who was it?" Joy asked.
"I suspect you two know him after all he trained your parents. The main reason he came was because he wanted to tell you two to start to train to reach Underlord so you are ready for when Sacred Valley opens." Saeya replied. So Kai had been right; he suspected that now when Keya returned the Valley would open sometime after that but now they had to prepare to reach underlord as well.
"So can you teach us?" Kai asked. They needed all the insight they could get.
"No, however I have this dream tablet that will be able to tell you the steps however showing you isn't really possible." Saeya said before throwing the tablet towards Kai who caught it in his hands. "Now go you have got a lot of work to do." Kai turned around holding the tablet in his hand and left with Joy following close behind.
Kai was sorting out his void key, rearranging everything including the truegold sword that he had used to kill the red moon hall man he would have to upgrade it for when he reached underlord before Joy spoke up behind him. "Thanks to my path I already have the first step down but now I know the other steps." Joy said she then handed Kai the dream tablet. Kai sat on the bed and then read the dream tablet.
A man stood in front of him now. He was shorter than Kai but his hair was a lot longer and it was blonde he stood there in his blue robes. There was no doubt in Kai's mind on who this was Eithan Arelius, so he had given Saeya the report that would make sense. The man now spoke to him though he suspected he didn't know who to address as it was only one dream tablet. "Hello Joy or maybe it's Kai now so i'll just say Hello. If you wish to reach underlord you must know of the three steps. The first step is to master yourself, using the power of a True Gold and masterful control of one's spirit, a sacred artist must open space in the very center of one's spirit. Requiring supreme control of one's spirit, the Sacred Artist must find the center of their being. At that very point, they must flex their spirit, like expanding an invisible lung. There will be a strain, like pulling in a breath of mud, before the sacred artist will feel space open in their soul. This opening in a sacred artist's spirit is called a Soulspace and may be used to store a single item in one's very soul." The man said. Kai had heard of soulspaces he knew his father had held Little Blue in his soulspace and his mother had held an archlord level that she won from the uncrowned king tournament. Kai finished his thought before Eithan spoke again. "The second step is to master the world around yourself. In this step, a sacred artist begins by learning to sense the unity of aura. All vital aura is connected, and power flows from one aspect to another. Once one can sense this unity, they can begin to weave soul fire from the vital aura." Kai didn't know much about soulfire but from what he knew you could use it in your techniques and increase their power. "The final step is the most difficult; it is about connecting yourself to the world. Once a sacred artist has opened their soul space and filled it with soul fire, they connect themselves to the world around them by calling upon their soul fire and the vital aura of the world to reforge their body from soul fire. Now where most people go wrong is that they do not ever find their revelation or people can not tell you what triggered the transformation. Now the tips I can give you are to ask why do you practise the sacred arts. Another tip is how your parents got to underlord follow your fear. Why does it push you towards your goal. Now wait until you get to sacred valley before you try to advance the vital aura there is rich so the transformation should be as quick as a breath but might be longer." That was the final words of Eithan before Kai came out of the dream tablet.
"So best we wait for when we go to sacred valley we can maybe open our soulspace here but I would say taking more tasks for the Skysworn would be best." Kai said. Joy nodded in agreement "So let's see if Kang has recovered." Kai said afterward. Before he and Joy left his room to go find Kang.
Kai and Joy entered one of the highgold medical tents; there weren't many people in there today but towards the back they saw Jai Kang being fixed by a truegold life artist from the Jade eye school. When Kai and Joy got towards the bed that Kang was in, the women spoke. "He was lucky it seems the prison didn't do much damage at first but he tried to break out of it which exhausted him and finally the prison began to compress on top of him trying to crush him but I was told to fix him as quick as I can so he should be good to go." Before she bowed to them and began to leave, Kai and Joy returned the bow before going to speak to Kang.
"Thank you," Kang said before he got out of bed and bowed to the truegold. She smiled and left the tent. "So what happened to the others." Kang asked. Kai scratched the back of his head nervously.
"Song Lei and Kotai Cui are gone and Keya lost an arm but five of the truegolds that attacked are dead whilst the final one is in custody" Kai said. Kang looked furious; he grabbed his spear from the side of the bed. "So you want to fight still, well let's just say we have some preparations to make and a lot of missions to complete." Kai said. Kang saluted Kai and Kai smiled towards the man in return.
Almost one month had passed and now the strongest squad in the empire was made from three truegolds Akura Joy the number one ranked Truegold, Wei Shi Kai the number two ranked truegold and Jai Kang the number one-hundred and twelve ranked Truegold. Over the past month they had completed many minor missions such as kill remnants that were trying to destroy people moving from city to city or protection missions for some Underlords they had done a lot in the past month. Kang had received his armour and had challenged his way up the true gold rankings. Kai and Joy had even been challenged for their spots in the empire by people that thought they were weaker; it was mostly new truegolds not releasing the difference in power. A group had even challenged them in front of Saeya and the Emperor who was visiting the Skysworn, the man was amused with this and had allowed it the four truegolds that challenged them couldn't beat them with Joy and Kai using only one technique. They currently stood on the deck of Stormrock listening to the Emperor speak to the hundreds gathered here for the opening of the valley.
Kai stumbled out of the portal into a room he could always recognize; it was the control room of his father and mothers cloudship Windfall. He was told it was their prize from the first round of the uncrowned king tournament. Kai picked himself up from the floor brushing off his robes as he stood and pulling down his mask . He looked around the room and saw his older brother Wei Shi Kou and his younger sister Wei Shi Keya. His father had opened a portal for him and he wasn't even in the room. "Long time no see Kou and nice new arm Keya looks like fathers." Kai said. Keya scratched her head nervously with her new arm; it was a small skeletal one.
"Yeah father said it was similar to his before underlord and says that once I reach underlord I should be able to learn the technique that allowed him to advance quickly." Keya said. Underlord seemed a long way off but he scanned her and she was truegold now in both cores so his father had gone at no expense to get her to reach truegold.
"I heard you're quite strong yourself now Kai maybe we should spar again sometime I'll hold back I promise" Kou said. Kou wasn't as tall as Kai or even their father but he was still muscular and was an overlord from the last time they had seen each other but that was almost two years ago. Then Kou released his viel and the full weight of his spirit washed the room before he veiled it again he had reached Archlord. Before Kai could say anything else a bright white light filled the room and a woman appeared from it with six crimson red swords sticking out her back and her black hair was resting on her shoulders with one crimson red lock being visible. To her side sat a white sword that rested in its sheath attached to her robe.
"Where is your father?" The woman said looking towards Kai. It was Yerin Arelius, their mother.
"Well you would have a better idea then me" Kai said. He wondered how his father had even teleported him here.
"He was in blackflame city. I received a message from dross saying he had sent you so I came over and I guessed he was with you." Yerin said. So his father was in blackflame city he was probably talking with Akura Charity who was in Blackflame city to deliver a speech to the vassal state before they entered Sacred Valley. No shorter did Kai finish his thought when a portal opened next to Yerin in the room.
"Apologies for being late I had to collect something." Lindon said.
"No worries, we've only been here for a rat's tail and a half" Yerin said. Everyone looked at her confused.
"Anyway I have gifts for our two Truegolds" Lindon said before he threw a binding towards Kai and walked up to Keya giving her a stone. Kai firstly scanned the binding in front of him it was of underlord level binding and it seemed to be made of fire and force madra this was most likely for Kai's new weapon he could do a lot with this he thought to himself. He scanned the stone that Keya had been given and it resonated hunger madra similar to the times he had been able to scan his fathers white hand. "Now let's get down to business" Lindon said
"So what do we need to do?" Kai asked.
Lindon continued facing towards Kai and Keya. "Firstly the valley will open to our allies including the Akuras so I need you to prove that you guys are stronger so you have to do this on top of pushing to advance. It is likely that they will want to challenge you to show their strength for the tournament so be prepared. Secondly the valley will be open for two months before we make a choice on the team so you must reach underlord by then as I want you two will make up the final two for the team."
"Who is the other one?" Kai asked. From his left Kou laughed.
"Who do you think." He said. After he said that Kai knew who it was Wei Shi Asuna the older sister of the four of them. Kai and Asuna were of similar age so they had always fought each other to see who was stronger but not only that she had saved him many times when they trained not only in training but also outside of training in the forests within the valley. Kai just sighed in response to Kou who carried on laughing.
"Whilst I don't wish to burden you both this tournament will have high stakes on our future so I'm counting on you" Lindon said. Kai became nervous after the comment, what did his father mean? He pushed it to the back of his mind for now and placed the binding he had been given within the pocket of his robe.
"One thing before we go." Keya said. Keya held out her flesh hand and as Kai looked at it confused a sky blue woman appeared who looked really similar to Little Blue who was his fathers riverseed. Was that Little Blue no it couldn't be what was it then his father spoke.
"This is what I have worked on for 60 Years with Dross and information Northstrider gave me and they happened to see little blue so they took on a form similar to her. She is essentially a copy of Dross though weaker in many ways but that might change over time."
[You can call me Skye] The figure said. Like Dross, Skye spoke in Kai's mind but moved her mouth in the real world. So there must have been a reason for this but Kai guessed he would have to wait.
"You two well I guess three now make sure to bleed and bury anyone that gets in your way" Yerin said. Before Kai turned to the black and blue portal that had appeared he waved to his family and stepped through the portal with Keya following behind him. Kai came out of the portal back onto the deck of stormrock. People all around them turned around as they just appeared from a portal. Kai pushed his way through the crowds to the front of the ship where he saw Joy and Kang standing at the edge next to Saeya.
"So when does it open?" Kai said, scaring Joy and Kang. Joy turned around punching Kai in the arm before she saw Keya and ran and hugged her.
"I'm so glad you're ok and your truegold now." Joy cheered
"Yeah my father didn't want me being lowgold for the opening but wants me to make the final step by myself." Keya said.
"So let's get ready to go to the valley," Kai said. Looking towards Joy and Kang.
"The valley is set to open soon so best we get a move on." Kang said
"Clear the area" Kai shouted at the crowd. Everyone around them started to move away before he pulled out his thousand mile cloud from his armour. Kang did the same whilst Joy hoped on her staff.
"I don't have a thousand mile cloud anymore," Keya said. Naru Saeya turned around to look at them all before a thousand mile cloud came out of her armour.
"While I don't need a cloud I like to keep one just in case I damage my wings so I would like to have this one back please. And make sure you make it to underlord." Saeya said with a smile. Keya bowed and jumped on the thousand mile cloud before all of them went towards the hill that had hundreds of people heading towards it at the top of that hill there was a shadowy portal.
