"I-I think I can fly now!" I said happily. Vytas looked at me and smiled "That's awesome Latios, are you sure you can make the journey? Even with me on your back?" I looked back at Vytas and nodded happily. "Im sure!", I exclaimed. "What an exuberant dragon you are", Vytas commented. I sniggered to myself "T-thanks- O-oh. I forgot to ask for your name, how rude of me", I said apologetically "The names Vytas, Latios", He answered. "Vytas ..", I mumbled "What?" "Oh n-nothing", I nervously replied ' What's with me today? ' I thought to myself.
"You think we can fly around now?", Vytas asked "W-won't you be a little scared?", I answered. "No, on the contrary- Im quite excited" My cheeks flared up ' I seem to lose my composure easily around him, why? ' "W-well then- You can just hop on here .. Hold on though- it might be a little bumpy", I told him. Vytas nodded and clambered onto my back and then held onto my neck.
I wanted to take it nice and slow ascent so he wasn't afraid as I still thought he might be just a little scared. An eerie silence filled both of our ears, maybe it was just me who thought it was eerie, so I decided to break the silence. "H-how's the view?", I inquired. Vytas didn't reply, instead- I felt his head rest on to my neck and quiet breathing. "V-vytas? Uhm .. Im sorry-", I quickly realised Vytas was asleep. ' Its quite cold up this high in the sky ' I thought. Then a big anvil fell on my head as I realised something "Why did he fall asleep .. IN THE SKY AND IN FREEZING TEMPERATURE!", I shout- whispered to myself. ' I have to fly at low altitude to keep him warm ' I reasoned. I used psychic to hold him midair as I made a hasty descent. I guesstimated we we're about 7-8 metres above sea level then, so I settled on that altitude. I also decided I would fly at a leisurely pace so that he wouldn't .. Fall off "N-not that I wouldn't catch him of-of course!", I scolded myself. I settled him back on my back and his hands wrapped around my neck instantly. "I'm like a body pillow", I giggled.
Vytas opened his eyes to the cool, dark, night of the Pokémon world. He sat up slowly and rubbed his eyes. "How long have I been sleeping, Latios?", Vytas groggily asked. "Three hours- I think. should I have woken you up?", Latios asked, feeling worried. "Nope, why do you worry so much about me? Don't you miss your sibling?", He said looking up into the starry night sky. "I don't know ..", Latios said honestly. "Maybe its because you just have that protective instinct", Vytas said in baritone. Does he always talk like that? Poker face and no visible emotions? Latios wished Vytas was more- interactive to him. His wish was instantly granted "How do you even stutter talking to me in my head?", Vytas asked a weird question. "I don't know .. Im not stuttering anymore!", Latios retorted putting emphasis on the word 'anymore'. "I noticed", Vytas simply replied. Latios pouted expecting more praise, he practiced talking telepathically the whole time Vytas was asleep. "You didn't answer me about Latias", Vytas reminded Latios. "Im sure she's fine, she can take care of herself ya'know", Latios reassured Vytas. "I was asking you and what you thought.. Im not her brother", Vytas chuckled when he said the last line. Latios pouted momentarily but heard Vytas's laugh and joined in. "Im sure she's fine", Latios said aloud. "Whatever you say, comrade", Vytas said in affirmative- Latios blushed.
Latios and Vytas had been flying for 4 hours now when Vytas told Latios they'd both need some rest. Even when Latios told Vytas braggingly that he counld fly for 9 hours straight, Vytas insisted. "We need rest to keep our strength up, comrade", Vytas told Latios as his reason. "You mean you need to keep your strength up", Latios joked. Vytas quickly changed topic "How come we haven't seen any other buildings except for that barn we encountered hours ago", He reasoned. "Or Pokémon", Vytas added as an afterthought. "Maybe they're all in the forest", Latios said in a dumb voice. Vytas turned around with a emotionless face "Hey, not funny", He said quietly. ' I want cool Vytas to come back! ' Latios pleaded in his thoughts. "I-Im sorry. Didn't mean anything by it- ahaha .. ha..", Latios stammered. Vytas's face slowly crept into a smirk and eventually fell into a laugh. "Your face!", Vytas couldn't stop laughing "You shoulda seen your face!", Vytas snorted. "Looked like you were in trouble with your mama or something", Vytas stopped hollering two minutes later and regained his composure- put on his emotionless mask and resumed staring at Latios blankly. "You done now?", Latios asked. No response. "Soo .. As I was saying- I wanted to go to the forest and collect berries for us. Would you like to come along? You'd learn something else rather than just .. Playing with me", Latios said optimistically. "'Kay", Vytas said as he stood up and followed Latios. When Latios had his back turned away from Vytas he pouted ' Hmmph! Why does he always have to troll me? ' "Ill get you back for that ..", Latios whispered. "What didja say Lati?", Vytas asked hearing something from Latios. "Its nothing, Taz", Latios said, making up a nickname for Vytas.
Latios and Vytas continue their journey, but they haven't spotted any signs of human activity or other Pokémon .. What does this mean?
