Chapter 3
It was the sobbing…
The pained horrible cries that emanated from the room. The distinct smell of bile riddled it, Natsuki Subaru the half elf's knight, became a horrific monster in there very eyes. The horrendous sight still ingrained in their minds.
Rein's hand went to Felt's hair as he carefully rubbed her golden hair. "It's okay, I'm sorry Felt that you had to see that."
His words graced her ears. Memories of Subaru's horrible hands coursing through her memories as she fiercely smothered herself in her knight's coat.
Rein's gaze went to the sleeping boy. "Natsuki, if I knew…damn if I knew." He chocked down a howl as his body stiffened. Memories of all the times he failed to protect the boy resurfacing in his mind. "I am truly slothful."
He remembered the time where he failed to react in time to prevent the death of Subaru and a royal candidate, or how he failed to deal with the fight between his friends. He grumbled as the memories of his failure coursed through his mind like an uneasy stream went to his mind.
Friend, how could he ever call Natsuki Subaru a friend. The boy who conquered monsters on the level of a god, the boy who the sin archbishops and the spawn of the witch feared. The boy that has accomplished more things in less than a year than him as a sword saint has accomplished his whole life.
"I never deserved to call you that…" He spoke. His eyes went to the sword at his hip, the blade which made him worthy of to be a sword saint. Memories of his crime…of his murder. "If things were different…you are far more worthy to hold this blade than I ever was."
His body nearly crumpled like sand as those words parted from his lips. Julius, his bare hands was over his face, his gloves on the side were full of bile. Faint outlines of discarded tears slightly leaking as he could only look down.
Anastasia was a mess, tears flowing down her face like a rapid waterfall. Her guilt forming in her stomach nearly enough to smother her pitiful existence. This wonderful boy with such a pure heart who simply wanted to protect his friends. She has used and manipulated, even just now using his suffering to advance her wealth. She peered at the boy through her swollen eyes.
"Subaru, I am sorry." She whispered as she dug her face deeper into her arms.
The twins could only stare at the floor. Slightly twitching at the memories of the monster Subaru became only moments prior. That horrible dread Ricardo himself felt as he could only move his arms slightly due to the weight of the twins.
Ricardo had no words to say. The horrific memories of what Subaru became sending distinct shivers down his spine as all he could do was sit still.
Al, his body was hunched over as spit flew from his mouth. "Isn't this what you wanted…" He growled like a rabid dog. His eyes pointed at the pair of women like knives that surrounded his brother. "You wanted him to save everyone but there is no one here to save. You expect him to play hero all the time when he's only just a kid."
The knight had enough. His anger seething from him in rows of heat as he could only stare at the half elf and the demon maid. Angry at how Subaru was going to a messed-up situation and they commended him for it.
The knight could only slouch into his seat as he struggled to gain back any sense of balance. The memories of what the boy became…the growling, the blood, but it was his cold eyes that shook Al to his core as he struggled to move.
Wilhelm sat next to his lady. His breath uneven as he tried to compose himself, to show the face of the strong swordsman that avenged his wife and took down the whale, but after seeing what Subaru became…he was an inch away from breaking down.
Crusch's hand could only lightly go along his back as she softly tried to keep him calm. "Subaru." She spoke the boy's name, her eyes focusing on the boy. "If you died, how did you get here?"
Emilia's eyes were firmly shut. Her body stiffened uncomfortably as she could only stare at the dark screen. The boy she thought she loved…was keeping even more secrets from her?
What was this…who was this woman, and why did he turn into that monster? Though, the most prevailing question that formed in the uncomfortable pits of Emilia's stomach. "Why did you never tell me?"
The cycle of self-doubt worked their way into Emilia's head. The trauma of watching her Subaru die all those times, and now seeing him getting turned into that thing!
Though…it was the woman Subaru was married to that pressed against Emilia's head the most, like a weight was forcing her to be immobile as she grappled with those thoughts.
"I hope you are not thinking about that girl, I suppose."
The small voice trailed to her left as Emilia turned her gaze to the spirit. Beatrice's eyes were sharp like an owl as they could only peer deeper into Emilia's. Emilia could only shy away as her eyes focused on her knight's feet.
The sound of his bone cracking after each step made Emilia slam her eyes shut. The memories of her knight coursing through her mind like a festering rat. Beatrice could only sigh at the girl. "Letting your insecurity over that girl get into your head. In fact, you should be glad that he's right by your side and dedicated his heart…and even his life to you."
Beatrice's little hand slightly ran through Subaru's hair. A small smile plastered across her face. She knew what happened…but she also knew something else. Subaru was here and alive, it didn't matter what happened on the screen.
She knew…that if he was here and alive, then that means hope.
Outside of the room a certain merchant boy was holed inside of his room. Blue tears coursing down his face like a cascade of tears, his green hat discarded to the side as he pressed his head against the wooden door.
Julius's throw up stained his clothes as all he could do was hold his breath. Though how could he let that bother him? His best friend was turned into a monster, not even that he just learned that his dumb friend was an engineer and even was married.
Otto did not know anymore…he trusted Subaru with his life, but he just saw a completely new side of him. Subaru's pleading for his life shook Otto to his core, it was so real to the merchant…he never wanted to see that ever again.
"Otto!" A loud bang echoed as Garfiels punch nearly sent it flying. Otto's body recoiled from the sudden jump as he fell face first onto the floor. His breathing hitched as he grasped onto his heart, the sudden scare nearly making him fear for his life.
"Yes, Garfiel!" Otto screamed back. His hands closing along the doorknob. He slightly opened it, only to peek to see Garf staring through the door. Garf's eyes shown the annoyance he was feeling towards Otto, his Capn needed them to be by his side…not cowering in their rooms.
"Oi, are you going to cower in ya room, or come back to Capn." The boy's strange words reached Otto's ears as he swiftly shook his head.
"No…Garfiel. That was too much, damn." Otto's hands coursed through his long grey hair as all he could do was simply stare at the floor in disgust of himself. Of how he could not bear to witness his friend go through hell once again, or how he embarrassed himself by running away.
Garfiel grimaced at the merchant's words as he simply sighed. "Capn, you know he would not want us to see this…"
Otto's ear perked up at the words, the tension of his arm holding the door slowly dropping. "He wouldn't, that's the truth. Whatever happened on that space…station or whatever, the capn did not want us to ever learn. He must of have kept it a secret for a reason."
"Garf, but how can you be so…"
"Composed!" The boy let out a horrid laugh at the words. His hands going into his pocket as his yellow hair fell down his face. "How the hell can I be fine. My Capn, the greatest man there ever was…just turned into a monster. But I cannot, I do not have the time to be upset or sad…he would want me to be there for you. To fight for you while he is in that state. Yes, I am hurting but I can't."
Otto's mouth parted from the words the boy was saying. It was true, Garf was the only one that maintained a level head…a fourteen-year-old. The poor boy was the only one that kept them going.
Otto just thought that he was brave at first. How he could handle it for his age, but he was so wrong…he was the one meant to comfort his brother. Not the other way around!
Otto's arms went around his waist as he felt sick to his stomach. "I want to help him…I really do but I can't watch him go through this. Please I am just…"
"You're not weak…" Garf spat out. The merchant's eyes following the young warrior as Otto's hand let go from the door. "Your strong, but this was something else…but we must be brave for Capn. He is our brother, and we are a family. We are meant to be there for one another."
Otto sighed as his fond memories of Subaru came into his head. Soon, those fond memories began to counter the bad ones…Otto realized it, that he knew that Subaru did suffer, and he has been suffering all this time alone.
With this…he can. No, they all can pay the debt that they owe Natsuki Subaru so they can understand the past that he went through all those years ago. So, they can help him confront the future but not alone, but together.
Otto peered through the door as he took an uneasy step through. His hands still anxiously going around his waist…but he stopped moving halfway towards the theater.
Garf stopped moving also as he peered at his friend. "Isn't there something wrong with ya head?" Garf asked as he stared at the frozen boy. Otto, his body nearly convulsing as Otto peered at what his friend was looking at.
"Otto, it's a vent…are you going to live your life afraid of vents from now on?" Garf spoke. His head tilting to the side in disbelief at his friend.
Otto simply moved to the side of the wall as he narrowly dodged it. A small smile spread across his face due to the cowardice displayed as Garf could only shake his head in disappointment.
Otto moved past the door as they both walked towards the theater. Both boys staring ahead as they struggled. As they sat down in their seats, they saw a tall golden-haired maid making their way towards them.
"Garf, is otto…"
"I'm better, it was just too much…for a second." Otto waved off as the smell of hot bile filled his nostrils. Garf nodded to his sister, nonverbally telling her that everything was fine. She let out a sigh of relief as Petra's hand was still wrapped around her.
Otto hung his head down as he stared at his shoes. "Well, that's good to hear…Petra I think she's doing better now." The orange haired girl hugged her body closer to her senior. Her body rapidly shivering like she was stuck outside in the middle of a snowstorm. They both took their seats.
The screen began to change once again. Brief flashes as something faint began to appear from around the edges. A dark black object came into view, it was surrounded by a dark red mist.
"I don't like the look of that thing." Al spoke as he leaned into his chair.
Ricardo's hand went to Mimi's head as he glanced at the object. "Yeah, that thing doesn't give off the best of vibes."
Petra's body huddled deeper into Frederica's embrace. "I'm scared…I don't want to be here anymore." She cried out as all she could do was simply hide within her seniors embrace.
"It's okay, Petra…everything will be fine." She hugged the younger girl back. Though there was bite in the older maids' words as she could only pray that they were true.
Its shape was strange with red symbols slowly lighting up all around the edges.
Beatrice squinted to get a closer look at the foreign object only to feel even more confused as the strange object began to disappear.
Rem tightened her grip along her hero's arm. Her eyes darting at the screen and back to him. "Why did you never tell Rem?" Though she hid in shame as she already knew the answer. Because she was an incompetent sister that killed her hero, what man would want to discuss such horrific memories with a woman like her.
Emilia could only stare down at her knees. Tears decorating her face from the prior moments beforehand as the fear of what Subaru became rattled her to her very core…he became a monster.
She hated these feelings…the fear and the sadness that she felt buried in her chest. Feelings of insecurity due to her Subaru being with another, and how she felt that she did not even know who he was anymore.
A certain Vollachian princess calmly observed the half elf. Almost reading her mind as she could only stare at the half witch. "Disgusting…" She simply spoke as she turned her attention to the screen.
"Make us whole, Subaru." The voice spoke. It's warm reassuring voice echoing throughout the room. Subaru's body stood frozen still. His face panning away as he observed his surroundings, the three blue slits of his rig producing that cyan light which briefly lit up the area for him.
"What the fuck!" Garf cried out as his hands went towards the screen. "Capn reset!"
Everyone's eyes nearly bulged from their heads as they just saw what happened. Did Subaru just reset?
Ram's eyes widened as she hopped from her seat. "Barasu, he just was sent back to the very start. Is the witch helping him again, but…"
"The witches influence can travel through worlds like this?" Roswell mused to himself as he sat down on his chair. His eyes tracing the very movements that Subaru was making. Though, there was doubt in his mind…was the witch this powerful that she could manipulate other worlds?
"See Petra, Subaru is fine…he reset!" Frederica spoke to the girl, only for Petra to delve herself deeper into the maid's outfit. Giving off the opposite response.
Petra wept as Frederica's hand went to her back. "Please…I just want Subaru to be happy. I don't want him to go through what he went through in our world against these things!"
The viewers heeded the young girl's words as the reality began to set in. There was no peace in death for Natsuki Subaru.
His eyes craned down to the corpse. Though, this was different…his body moving him forward steadily without a single peep. His boots and mechanical breathing the only sound.
"Natsuki, he knew not to scream again. Was that Return by death?" Otto questioned as he could only hear the frightened breathing of his friend.
"It sure is strange though." Crusch murmured as she turned to the merchant boy. "Wasn't Subaru hacked up…it just seems strange for him to suffer so much and him not even reacting to the pain."
Felt looked towards the duchess. "Yeah, but Subaru during his first time with Elsa didn't even realize it happened, he just kept on going."
"Though, something definitely changed here…Natsuki is just moving over the bodies without uttering a single sound." Wilhelm observed as his old eyes observed the boy on the screen.
It was his breathing that was the worst. Due to the helmet his breathing was extremely rattling like he could hardly be heard. Subaru made his way down the decrypted hallway, but this was different. His eyes were hesitantly scanning the vents.
"Julius, how does Subaru know about the vents?" Felix's voice arose from the crowd. Julius and the rest, there eyes widening in realization.
Subaru's wrist went towards his mouth as he disengaged his mask. His eyes were bloodshot and were scanning around erratically. "Kendra…Hammond. Anybody?"
"Big bro…he looks so tired…so afraid." Felt addressed. Her hands rolling into fist as she could only watch her brother get placed in these horrible situations without a say.
Wilhelm could only shake his head towards the young candidate's words. Yes, Subaru was tired, but Wilhelm knew that such a journey for Subaru would be tiring, he would have to hold onto his grit and determination to reach this happy ending.
For a short second, a faint grin appeared over his face. "Subaru, you will make it through this…and you will be stronger for it. Your just like me…" The old man shook his head as he gazed at the boy on the screen. "No…your far more worthy of being an Astrea than anyone else here."
Crusch's lips parted as she heard the old man's words. Her gaze following a red-haired knight that held his mistress close.
The despair in Subaru's voice was evident as he continued down the blood-soaked path. The lights flickering on and off as Subaru's pace and breath quickened. "I'm in the deep part of the ship, that must be why my coms aren't working down here." Subaru spoke out loud to himself. Until his eyes focused on something to his left.
"Coms?" Anastasia spoke to the spirit.
"Fine, Betty will educate you…coms or communications from Subaru's worlds are way more advanced. Some are even able to speak to another half a world away."
There were a lot of shocked expressions as the words reached their ears. Especially towards the grey-haired merchant and a shocked merchant princess.
Al could only sigh as he stared at the screen. "Man…everything has just really changed. It's been so long." The man sighed as he could only stare at his brothers suffering. Memories of a home lost to time, but Al knew better than to ponder on those thoughts for too long.
As he kept on walking, he approached a door of some sorts. He pressed his hand along the pad as it quickly opened. He stepped inside as it slowly slit back into its closed position. He took off his helmet as he rested it on the desk in front of them, the strange wall lights flickering as Subaru examined the room. He peered at something on the table.
Subaru's produced a smile. "A flashlight…"
"A flash lights?" Emilia repeated the strange words. Her eyes heading to the prideful spirit that rested on her knight's lap.
She smirked confidently. "Another invention from Subaru's world, Betty will…"
"It's a tool which produces a steady beam of light. Strong, but you need to store power to get it to work." Al's voice echoed throughout the room. Betty simply pouted from the helmeted man stealing her thunder, though she was not an idiot.
Everyone had no idea what Al was going through at this very moment. Learning not only that you were sent to another world but also learning that it has been many years after you disappeared would mess anyone up.
His orange gloves dangled along the tool as he peered around. The camara panned showing the wires of the tool, the trigger, and the black handle. Subaru's radio crackled to life as he pressed his wrist towards his face.
"Subaru? Subaru! God, I can't believe he made it." Kendra's voice erupted through the radio.
"Oh boy…" Al wheezed as he pointed at the screen. "Look another girl that is worried over Subaru." Al chided earning a couple of chuckles from the male viewers.
Though a demon maid and a certain half elf could not help but stare ice like daggers at the helmeted man as he could not hold back his laughing.
"Subaru, we ran into more of them on the way over here. Are you okay?"
Subaru took a deep breath as he hesitantly peered around him. "Yeah, I am in a room of some sorts. I guess a basic supply room. Those things are everywhere…"
"What? What the hell are those things? Is that the crew?!" Kendra erupted.
"Those things, there is no way those things are human anymore." Felix spoke as his voice echoed through the room.
Julius stared blankly at his friend. "Felix…Subaru turned into one of those things. I can understand as a healer but…"
Felix turned to Julius as both their eyes locked onto the other. "Then Subaru isn't human either…"
Garf's face flashed with anger. His body nearly leaping from the chair to smash the boy who just insulted his captain. "Out of everyone here…my captain feels the pain and weight of everyone. He is more human that you bastards ever will be…"
His best friend's hand went to his back to calm him down as Garf slouched back. Still staring daggers into the back of the royal knight's head. "Garf, relax…it isn't wise to fight a royal knight." Otto spoke as Garf shrugged Otto's hand off of him.
"Keep your voice down! Whatever they are, they are not friendly! And half the doors on the ship are locked because of the quarantine. Now we must get to the bridge, but first, we got to repair the tram system."
"What!" Wilhelm screamed as he shot up from his chair. "This Hammond what is he even thinking."
"Grandfather, what is wrong!" Rein spoke as he gazed up towards the man.
Wilhelm shook his head in disgust. The duchess following as they both perfectly read the situation. "Subaru needs to leave; this place is evil. No matter what…even without Nic…" Though the duchess was cut off.
Garf's fist shook the theater as he stared at the Duchess. "I bet ya would like that…knowing ya would like Capn to abandon the woman he cares for." He scoffed as he turned away from her. "I bet ya wouda use him like that, guilt him about how he left the woman he loves."
Crusch shook her head as she stared back at the blond warrior. "Your wrong I would never use Subaru like that. I wouldn't…"
"Though, you abandoned Betty's contractor in his moment of need. Knowing full well that he was telling the truth." Beatrice turned towards her, Beatrice's strange eyes staring like heat rays into the Duchess.
Crusch could only shake her head in denial. "It was wrong I know, and I will carry it with me forever. Though…"
"Though…" Anastasia chuckled under her breath as she stared at Crusch. "Trying to make excuses for what happened?"
Emilia shot up from her seat as the room felt strangely colder. "Stop it…that is enough. We have already forgiven Crusch for what happened in that prior loop. Subaru, he fixed everything and saved everyone." Emilia spoke with a smile over her face, her memories surging of her special knight that saved her.
"Disgusting…"
They stared up at Al as the helmeted man stared down at them. "You're forgiving her for this shit. What she did to Subaru, my brother simply because he learned how to fix things."
"Ay, buddy relax…" Ricardo's voice trailed at the older knight as Al shook his head in denial.
"No, I just realized that everything back home was gone…how everything I had was most likely reduced to ash and dust. How my home and everyone I loved is most likely gone, for what…this shitty world!" Al pointed his finger towards the half elf. "But what would you care? The moment this begun even though Wilhelm mentioned that this place seemed horrible, how you congratulated Subaru for hopping straight into the fire pan for the sole reason of saving lives."
Emilia felt her heart skip a beat. She was happy to realize that Subaru was going to save the day. How he was going to be the hero once again, she did not consider the monsters Subaru would have to face or anything like that.
She slammed her eyes shut as she felt small tears beginning to form. She was selfish, only thinking about her own views about her hero and how cool he would look. She did not even realize the suffering he would have to handle.
Their voices stilled as an air of hostility took over the room. Their eyes redirecting themselves towards the screen.
Subaru's face flared up with anger. "What…guys we got to find Nicole and get out of this hell hole. Those bastards are everywhere." While he spoke, a loud tumult echoed in the halls near the door.
Petra's scream echoed throughout the room, echoing through the room as many of the viewers had to cover their ears. Petra's tear-streaked face arose from Frederica's stomach.
"They're coming for him, please Miss Frederica I don't want to see him die again!" She cried out as snot poured down her mouth towards her lip as Frederica could only hug the girl silently.
Wilhelm could only place his palm on is face as he tiredly collapsed onto the chair. "Please, Subaru…you can live through this. I believe in you more than anything…" He whispered the soft praise to the boy.
Subaru's breath stilled…until the sound ceased. "Guys…we need to leave."
"Well at least Subaru is stating the obvious." Felix sarcastically spoke, his eyes training on the weak boy on screen. "Looks like he's going to give up and abandon everyone on the shuttle." He coldly spoke, irritated by the boy's weakness on full display.
Felix's voice echoed through the room.
It was Rem that picked up on the boy's voice first. "Rem, wonders if he said what Rem thought she heard?" Rem spoke to Beatrice. Rem's voice colder than a steel blade, ready to cut through anyone that was willing to harm her Subaru.
The spirit stared at the oni in her eye. The oni stared in shock at the healer as her fingers only intertwined harder along the boy's arm.
"Subaru, we have a mission to complete." Hammond spoke to Subaru. Earning Subaru to roll his eyes in annoyance. "A mission that is going to get us killed!" Kendra shouted back.
Roswell could not help but smile. "Subaru, I was right…me and you are far more alike. Letting them go and focusing on your one goal."
Ram could only shake her head. Annoyance that her lord and the man she loved to still be obsessed with the ideal version that he wanted Subaru to become.
"No, fuck this. I am going to med bay and I am tracking her down." Subaru's voice rattled throughout the room as he held the flashlight. "I got a light, and something just feels off."
"Off…" Kendra repeated in disbelief.
"Subaru, this whole place is filled with monsters saying it's just off is not the really the correct word I would choose for this." Hammond Spoke.
A few of the children chuckled due to Hammond's thick headedness. But they quickly quieted down due to the seriousness of the situation.
"I am going there…then we are leaving for the ship."
"There are thousands of people there. Thousands, and they are planning on leaving them behind…but my hero, he will." Rem chocked on those words.
"Rem…" Ram called out towards her little sister. "Barasu, is making the right choice in leaving right now."
Felix chuckled under his breath. "Coward…abandoning everyone, even those you traveled with. Do you really hold no shame?"
Garf's fingers slammed into his palm as blood steeply drew. It took every fiber of his body to calm down as all he could do was direct his attention to the screen.
Priscilla yawned; her entertainment not even being peeked. "Just like before…" She sighed as she continued watching Subaru on the screen.
"Subaru, the ship is a wreck we need at least a couple more hours to repair it. How the hell are you going to defend yourself against the monsters then?"
"I'll find a way."
Felix did not say a word…though it was enough. He sucked his lip in at Subaru's words. That was more than enough for Garfiel as he swiftly turned towards the boy.
"Oi, I am getting really sick and tired of ya."
The warrior stared at the greatest healer as their eyes locked onto the other. "Garf…relax."
"Na, I am done relaxing…Otto." Garf turned around to him, tears in Garf's face as he quickly wiped them. He thrusted his pointed finger at Felix. "Your problem with Capn…I want to hear why you hate him so much."
Crush's eyes leveled on Felix as she and Wilhelm stared at the boy. Wilhelm knew that Felix had a particular disklike towards Subaru, and Crush knew this too, but it seems that the boy said something and taken it too far.
Julius walked over towards the trio. Everyone's eyes locked onto them, Garf's breath was rough as the veins of his arms shone as he tightened his fist.
"Garfiel…Felix was just not thinking of what he was saying before. Sure, there were moments but…"
Otto sneered at the knight. "Natsuki, we have watched his journey. You say you are his friend, but you defend his treatment and words against him, for the knight of knights I guess you really like to choose your loyalty towards your comrades."
Julius was at a loss for words, and he did not know how to respond. He wiped the purple strands of hair free from his eyes as he could only stare at his shoes. Julius felt shame…he knew the truth; they were being right of how he has not stopped or intervened with Felix.
Sure, they were snide remarks towards the boy and sometimes were harmless, but that still didn't change what he was saying. This journey that Subaru was fighting…
"Relax Julius of course your Subaru's friend…"
A half elf girl approached the group. "Listen guys it's fine. Sure, Julius is just…"
"Princess no offense but we understand why Julius did what he did. But him saying those things to Subaru mid beatdown was too far." Al's voice arose to defend his brother. Their eyes training on him. "Listen, Subaru has the mental capacity to forgive…but I doubt he can ever forget the harsh mental treatment that was done to him for the years being here, and the time he was on that damn space system."
Felix's mouth hitched. "I dislike Natsuki because he never thinks, and he blames others for his weakness."
"Blames others?" Otto repeated in disbelief, backing up in shock from the healer's words. "I wish he blamed us! We failed him so many times when he so desperately needed help, he did not have to save me or save anyone of us for what we did to him. Though, Natsuki…no Subaru my brother went back to save us and that's not weakness but a strength to him."
"Felix…" Wilhelm's voice arose nearly ready to cut through the air.
"Guys, we all just got to relax. Subaru, he would not like us to fight right now…especially when we need to focus and learn more about his past." Emilia's soft and reassuring voice went through the air like a hum of a flute.
Felix's annoying laughter filled the room at the half elf's words. "His whole past is a mystery, doesn't it not bother you that he could save those lives, or how he kept his secret wife away from you."
Emilia's chest tightened as she rested both of her palms along her heart. The thought of her Subaru and another woman. "Is this how Rem feels…" She whispered as her gaze went back to the girl whose Subaru hand was on.
There was a resounding smash. Felix's body crumpled to the ground like a loose paper blown to the wind as his right hand went to his nose.
"Garf!" Frederica called out as she stared at her brother's trembling form.
He was shaking, from rage as his right-hand dripped blood. The healer stared in shock of getting hit. His body crumbling into itself. The young demi human warrior inched farther and closer as his sharp teeth shone from the light. "Weak…you don't get to call my captain weak. A weak bastard like yourself who tries to act tuff with his buddies is the weak one."
Julius's feet went towards the fight only to find Ott's hand on his shoulder. "Felix, deserves this…for all the times he insulted Natsuki."
Julius knew that Felix had it coming. That it was only due to him and Rein defending him that none of the Emilia camp members ever went to hurt him. Though, Wilhelm was nearly on the verge of a break down and Reinhard his friend was so lost in thought that he could hardly recognize what was going on mere feet away from him.
"No…our duty is to save and restore the ship. Though, we must find what is going on…if we head to the bridge then we can locate Nicole's rig and I can find her for you." Kendra spoke.
"There using Subaru again…using the girl to get to him." Al wheezed as he shook his head. "I don't know what this mission it, but I doubt it's not important enough for them to lose their lives for something like this."
Rem's grip tightened along her hero. "I dislike this woman, there is something wrong with her and Rem does not like the way she tries to manipulate her Subaru."
Petra nodded with her statement through the grasp of her senior. Everyone began realizing that this Kendra chick was off. The frequent times that she manipulated Subaru by using Nicole to cast over his head irked every single one of them.
Subaru took a deep breath in as he planted the helmet on his head. The cyan lights enveloping the room as he brought back his arm. "Fine…Hammond." Subaru took a deep breath as the intercom shut off. His eyes following his wrist as a light erupted from it.
Wilhelm groaned as he remembered Subaru's wife. "If I knew that you were going through something similar, then I would of have tried to help." The old man pondered to himself. Though, why would Subaru come to him?
Didn't he fail this boy…his second son before? When he so desperately needed help to protect the woman he loves, his mistress, and even himself casted the boy out. However, as his eyes connected to the screen a horrific memory reentered his mind. His rage against the whale, but Subaru's wife was alive so why did it matter?
But there was a horrible feeling still blooming as it nearly suffocated his heart. "Subaru, this can't be revenge?"
Nicole's face was in view. An old photo of her and Subaru. Shining bright…a Subaru with a gown and cap on. Holding a piece of paper in view. Two bright smiles plastered over their faces. Nicole's two hands lopped around Subaru's neck in a tight embrace.
"They look really happy…" Emilia whispered to herself. Her eyes tracing along the beautiful woman as she struggled to glance at the photo.
Al cocked his head as he got a better view of the photo. "Oi, Garfiel…" The young warrior turned his head towards Al.
"Wyt you bothering myself for."
Al tried to hold his laughter. Though he barreled into a laughing fit into the very next second. The other viewers stare following him as Al struggled to maintain a sentence.
Garfiels face scrunched up, even thinking that Al was just simply making fun of him. "Why the hell are you laughing." The young warrior pointed towards the helmeted man.
"Sorry kid, but crap man. Nicole, Subaru's wife…she kind of looks familiar, especially with that long hair of hers."
The viewers gazed back at the photo as the realization began to set in. Ricardo let out a joyful laugh as he slapped his knee in complete disbelief to the realization. "Nice find man." He flashed Al a thumbs up as Al struggling to maintain his composure.
Beatrice's eyes went towards her contractor. "Betty…just…" She groaned as her palm went to her face. Knowing full well the half elf would not take too kindly to the realization. Rem's grip simply tightened along her knight's arm.
"What, what's going on?" Emilia questioned as all the eyes on the room stared at her.
"Oi, what the hell." Garf stared at the faces. "What!"
"Kid I'll make this very clear." Al's finger outstretched to the TV. "That's Nicole…blond hair and green eyes before she cut her hair." His hand went down to Frederica. "Now that's your sister…what we're all trying to say here is that she perfectly matches maybe Subaru has a type."
Garf's eyes opened wide in realization. "Capn!" His eyes trained on the sleeping boy.
"So, Natsuki may be wanting to add another maid to the list!" Julius's voice arose through the room. The newfound humor starting to eat away at the uneasiness of the situation.
Anastasia shrugged her shoulders at the knight's response. "Who knows…maybe he already did?"
There eyes went to Frederica. Her face decorated a cherry red as she clutched the girl in her arms as the viewers all stared eagerly for her answer. "No!" She shouted, her eyes opening wide. "Subaru, is a very handsome man but our relationship is professional!"
"Well…at least for now it is!" Otto's voice arose through the crowd. Julius's hand going along his back as Otto let out an uncontrolled laugh. His voice squeaky as Garf tilted his head staring at his brothers. "What the hell!"
Subaru's formed a fist as his hands locked. His eyes showing newfound resolve as he began to push past in the halls. "I'll find you Nicole and I'll make everything right." Subaru spoke out loud.
"That's the second or third time Barasu mentioned about making something right with the girl." Ram spoke.
Anastasia voice arose. "Who knows maybe Natsuki said something stupid and wants to make up for it."
"I think going into a monster filled hell station is more than enough compensation for anything stupid Subaru had done." Crusch spoke. Her voice silencing everyone as they could only watch in suspense.
He ventured out into the halls as he readied his flashlight in front of him. The bright lights protruding out of it as he hesitantly aimed it down the halls. The flashlight was chattering as Subaru's fingers held onto the light. The only thing illuminating the hallway which he was walking down.
"My hero…he is so scared." Rem whispered as she held onto her Subaru tighter.
"Yeah, my kn…Subaru is scared. Trembling in fear." Emilia spoke. Beatrice's eyes widening at the words the half elf spoke. She was starting to get annoyed.
"Kendra…" Subaru called out to his wrist. As the radio crackled to life. "Kendra…Hammond. Do you read me."
"Yeah, Subaru. What do you need?" Hammond spoke up from his wrist.
"I still can't believe the things that came from this world. If we could replicate it…" Anastasia mouth emptied out those words as a certain knight's ears picked them up.
"Did you not realize what I was speaking about before?" Al's voice echoed through the room. "These things should not come to Lagunica, trust me there are good inventions but they can lead to massive consequences."
"Fine…whatever you say." She sarcastically spoke to the knight. Julius stared at his mistress, wasn't she crying before of using the boy's story and suffering for her own gain?
Felt could only scowl as she turned away. The merchant's words starting to irk her as she could only watch.
Subaru sighed in relief as he rounded a corner. His mechanical breathing echoed through the dense hallways. "I just need someone to talk to. This is just insane, and just having someone get me through will be enough."
"Okay…want to talk about what you think happened here?" Hammond spoke.
"Are we going to get Subaru's input on the things going on here?" Petra spoke as she finally had the courage to face the screen.
"Well Subaru has a college degree, most likely a fucking doctorate for him to be up in space so most likely." Al spoke.
Crusch's eyes locked on Al. "A doctorate?"
Al groaned. "Subaru, to become an engineer he would have to go for higher learning. Most likely speaking he went to a university and was smart enough to receive a doctorate."
"Subaru…my hero is truly amazing. Rem's hero, the smartest there was." She clutched harder to Subaru's arm. So hard that even Beatrice was worried about it popping off.
Ram snorted at his response. "Subaru…smart?" She let out a joyful laughter at the unfamiliar words that never should of have been placed in the same sentence.
Subaru shrugged his shoulders. "Yeah, these things are insane." His gaze went towards the walls of the hall. "I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you what the cause of these…things. Though, there smart really smart."
Priscilla let out a hearty chuckle. "Smart, those pathetic monsters charged at Subaru. If the boy did not back into his fear, then he would of have been all right until now."
Their eyes scanned into the lucky princess like heat rays as they had to hold their rage in.
"Subaru those things charged at us like animals. You just can't be stupid and…"
"Hammond, these things have memorized the whole layout of the ship." Subaru spoke up. His hands closing along the flashlight as he peeked along the corner. "They have been using the vent systems to get around and most likely have been using it to ambush their prey." Subaru's body stopped as he gazed around the halls once again. "There sure as shit not stupid."
"Subaru's right…" Al spoke.
There attention directed to the helmeted man in front of them. "To make a whole ass ship like this. The ventilation system must be insane and complex."
Al's muttering went on as they stared at him open eyed. "Buddy, we don't get what you're even saying."
"Ventilation…" Emilia muttered out the strange words. Her finger on her lip as she struggled to speak it.
"Ventilations from where I come from are machines to transport air from. Though, for a space station like this it must go on for miles and must be complex to travel around." Al explained, his eyes following the halls of the space station.
"So?" Felt questioned once again.
"For them to maneuver around the area, they must be really smart." Otto glanced at this brother once again. "These things must be everywhere."
"Also remember how Subaru transformed into that thing…" Wilhelm's voice arose. A distinct shudder roaring through the crowd like wind through a wheat field.
"How could we have forgotten." Felt spoke. Her voice scratchy as her eyes bulged from the horrible memory. "It was horrible." Reinhard pulled his mistress into another hug as she could only sob in his embrace.
"All those bodies scattered around the room. Thrown around but placed in piles…" Wilhelm spoke once again.
It took them a second to realize what the old man was speaking about before. So what if the monsters wanted to have them in bodies…but then that memory of that strange monster with the stinger. How it reanimated Subaru's corpse.
"Oh…god." Al nearly coughed up as he nearly fell to the floor in disgust.
Crusch's lips parted as she stared at the sleeping boy. "These things you think are collecting bodies and when that…"
"…that monster, that infector comes around and reanimates them." Wilhelm finished his sentence. The viewers eyes widening at the old warrior's sudden realization.
"Subaru…for the dragon. How can he escape?" Wilhelm spoke. His hands trailing along the strands of his old grey hair as he worried for his son.
"I don't know but Subaru is strong." Reinhard's sudden voice shocked them all as he arose, the sword saints eyes locking on the scared boy on the screen. "Stronger than all of us. He will find a way…he has to."
Hammond took a deep breath that echoed through the radio. "Yeah, but these things are tough bastards you have to…"
"Cut off their limbs like you told me. Yeah, I know…"
Hammond stopped as Subaru could only hear his breathing. "Subaru, I didn't tell you that…we just began talking."
The breathing in the room simply stilled. There voices stopping as Subaru's words reached their ears.
"Wait…so is it true that Subaru?" Beatrice wanted to say it. Though, she did not want it to be true…for her contractor, the man that saved her to suffer from the witch of envy's disgusting power.
"No, it can't be…the witches' power can't be this strong. For him to harness such a powerful ability. Authority or not it can't be possible." Roswell threw himself up from his seat from the words that were spoken.
Subaru stopped walking for a second as his body stilled. He was frozen in place as his other hand went to the top of his forehead.
"Subaru!" Hammond cried out from the silence. "Yeah, Hammond…I'm fine it just feels. I just, I don't know why but…" A ray of images slammed onto the screen. A desolate wasteland, the sands rough and tearing into the very ground itself.
"What…Subaru can see into the future?" Petra's childish reply made the spirit simply glance down at her.
"What, no!"
"That is the Pleiades Watchtower, right? In the sand dunes, it has to be it." Garf motioned as Julius just shook his head.
"I don't think so…" Julius told. The viewers eyes focusing on him. He was one of the only people to make it there and live, an expert to say the least.
"Don't get me wrong the sand dunes were a harsh place. Mabeast around every corner and you had no idea when one false step can lead to your demise. Though…" He sighed as the strange images repeated in the fragments of his mind. "The sand dunes look safer and more habitable than that place."
A place…harsher than the sand dunes. Emalia's memories surged through her head of all the times her hero had to struggle against it.
A double helix shape…the camara inching closer and closer. The strange structure glowing a pierce crimson as it increased in volume.
"What is that…" Mimi cried out as she pressed herself deeper into Ricardo's grasp to avoid the thing.
Tivey adjusted his glasses to get a better look. "I don't know but that looks scary."
"It's massive. The damn thing looks bigger than a building." Al commented on the strange structure. His mind in a haze…going through the shards of his past as he tried to remember if there was anything on his time about this. Though, he was lost.
"Like an everlasting darkness that could snuff out everything in sight."
A figure in front of the object. There humanoid form covered within the shadows of the structure. The camera went closer as the figure's eyes and mouth opened.
Frederica could only the little girl in her arms. Her body shaking in fear as she struggled to maintain her composure. Petra's eyes following the strange shadowy form as she could only beg that her hero would stay safe.
Emilia, her eyes were full of tears. Why did Subaru have to suffer so much…she wanted him to rely on her, for there to be no secretes between them. Though, she already knew that Subaru had to have those secrets, but she would be damned to not help.
"Make us whole…"
"SUBARU!"
Subaru's helmet quickly scanned his surroundings as he quick;y leaned against the wall. His breathing hitched as he exhaled and inhaled trying to stalibize himself. "Hammond, this place…I don't know why but there is something wrong with me."
"Though there is something that has been bugging me…" Otto mused to himself as he stared the conversation on screen.
"What…" Garf turned to his brother.
"Natsuki, have you guys been paying attention. Every time he would watch that video of him and his wife, he would stop it midway. Then replay it from the start." Otto explained.
They shrugged their shoulders at the merchant's words. Maybe Subaru just wanted to see his wife. A picture of her in such a dark time of his life.
Wilhelm shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe he just wants to reminisce of just her…seeing the woman that you love in such a disturbed state is just…"
The old mans words reached the crowd. Especially Emilia…who was staring at her lap after hearing the sentence of "Subaru's wife." Those two words make her feel envious…and she hated herself for being so selfish about these feelings.
"I know but it just feels strange…when Subaru does it…it feels more like instinct. Shutting it off and such." Otto pondered to himself, though he dropped the subject as he redirected his eyes back to it.
"Subaru, you're just panicking. This is a horrible situation, but I need you to keep yourself composed."
Subaru rolled his eyes. "Of course, I am the only one hear that could get the ship back up and running." Subaru wheezed as he continued down the halls.
"Though, Kendra she is…" Hammond was interrupted as a torrent of footsteps echoed down the halls, a quick pace as something was running. Subaru aimed his weapon at the end of the hall. His eyes focused as the white light shone with fierce strength and resolve.
"Subaru run!" Rem's high-pitched scream erupted through the halls as everyone shielded their ears from the oni's shriek. "I don't want to see him die like that again…" She whimpered in fear as she clutched her hero tighter.
Anastasia turned towards Al. Her eyes frantically focusing on the helmeted man. "Can that weapon do anything...the flashlight?" She murmured the strange words as Al simply shook his head.
"No, it just creates light. I am not even sure due to there eyes if Subaru could even blind them." Al' tiredly whispered.
The viewers stared at Al. Their eyes? Why were there eyes so important they pondered as they stared at the other interloper like a foreign alien.
Al groaned in annoyance. He was getting tired of dealing with there questions and having to explaining his world to them. "These things developed white irises…they have adapted to the space shuttle." Al tiredly worded out.
They stills stared at him in disbelief as the helmeted man began to further explain the subject. "Back in our world we had creatures that learned to see in the dark, but their eyes would go white for it. Hell, they would not even be able to leave their cave due to sunlight. I am not no biologist but for a species to do this, it would take centuries of evolution and change."
"Though, it's maybe been only a couple of weeks or months since Nicole and the Ishumara went missing. That means…oh god." Otto slumped into his chair as he began to fully understand the predicament.
There was wailing and crying as they began to realize the horrible situation Subaru was in. Otto let out a an anguished roar for his capn, Petra could only cry as Frederica's hand went through her hair.
"Yeah, these things know the shuttle better than Subaru. They can see in the dark and are agile enough to travel through the vent systems. Subaru, is outnumbered and outgunned." Al's spoke, his final words spreading like an infection.
Though…it was her. Her white overalls glimmered in the strange light; her porcelain skin shone with an eerie glow. Her shoulder length yellow hair flaring up from the wind.
"What…Barasu found her?" Ram spoke up. Shocked to find the foolish Barasu's wife in the lingering halls. "This quick…?"
Reinhard's eyes were locked onto the front of the screen. His gaze darkening as he could only observe the woman Subaru loves run away from him. "…but something doesn't feel right." He added on. The Emilia camp staring at him in shock.
"What do you mean. Capn, he found her. His wife, he can leave now." Garf pumped his fist up in joy. Happy that his capn found his woman, and now they could finally escape from this hellhole of a station.
"No, he's right, why would she be down in the engineer bay. Wasn't she a doctor like Felix?" Felt spoke up from her knight's hug. Her finger on her chin as she tried to think.
Ricardo's mouth opened. "Yeah, he has a point." He added on as their gaze went back towards the strange woman on the screen.
"So, what is she doing down there. Wouldn't she need clearance?" Crusch spoke as her voice trailed.
"Doesn't matter anymore." Wilhelm's voice silenced the others as he stared at the screen. Seeing Subaru reunite with his wife…he was able to save her. He did what the old man failed to do. "Subaru is going to find his wife; she is alive and safe so that's all that matters."
Her piercing green eyes meeting the screen…Nicole.
"She really does look like your sister Garf." Al teased earning a couple of chuckles from the audience in the back row.
Garf flipped the helmeted man off as he turned back to the screen. "Oi shut up!" His voice rang like a clock as the warrior could only hope that his Capn and his sister were only friends.
Subaru's feet quickly bombarded down the halls as he spun the corner and began chasing after the girl. "Nicoel…please…stop!" He cried out as he simply screamed out those words. His hands closed along the flashlight as he would narrowly catch up to her. His body nearly slamming into a wall as he barreled down the halls.
"Why is she running from him?" Tivey said. Poking from Ricardo's arm as he saw the woman round the corner to avoid Subaru.
His sister popped up to his side. "I don't understand either…weren't they married?" She asked Ricardo as the man just shrugged his shoulders.
"Well there is a chance that they have been going through issues in their marriage and she doesn't want to see him now." The demi human man kidded as the children in his arms slightly giggled.
Ricardo shrugged his shoulders once again. "Who knows…we know Subaru already has three women in our wor…"
"TWO!" Garf shouted at the man. Eyes directing towards the pair. "Two…my capn is with the princess and Rem. Not with my sister!"
Al raised his finger in the air. Like a scholar when they had an idea. Garf could even swear that he could see the mans smile form underneath that helmet. "…not yet at least."
"Subaru, what's going on." Kendra spoke from his wrist.
"Kendra, I found her. Thank god." Subaru spoke out loud. His eyes filled with tears, as he could only sob from delight.
Kendra gasped. "Subaru, I don't understand you're in the engineer tunnels…only the engineers can get down there, your rigs are the only ones that can access anything there."
"Yeah, she just said it. There should be no reason for Nicole to be down here." Otto affirmed the statement as the merchant stared at Nicole. A suspicious glare thrown her way.
Garf's ears perked up his brother's words. "Then why is she here then?"
"Doesn't matter. She is alive and safe…" Wilhelm spoke. His eyes staring at heat rays into the screen. Crusch could only stare at the old man, she knew how traumatic it was for him to lose his love.
Though, she squinted her eyes shut. She knew…that if Subaru lost his wife that Wilhelm would of have felt it too. A disgusting parallel to the two men that both faced unbeatable odds and death around every corner.
"What?" Subaru spat out as he just shook his head. "Doesn't matter I found her. Now all I have to do is just…" Nicole went into an open room. Both of their eyes locking onto the other as Subaru's right hand extended out trying to grasp onto her. A faint smile formed over her face…
"Her smile is kind of creepy…" Petra mumbled towards the maid that held her. Frederica would scold Petra usually for speaking about such things. It was not kind to judge another on one's appearance, especially Subaru's wife.
Though even herself could not shake the strange feeling that she felt blooming in the pits of her throat. "Almost like she isn't even here."
"Make us whole…" She spoke as the door slammed shut behind her. Subaru's threw himself along the door. His mechanical bracers slamming into it as he pounded along it. "Nicole!"
"What the fuck was that…you heard that right?" Garfiels teeth flashed as he spoke the words in rapid succession. Those three strange words his Capn wife repeated…the same words Subaru heard when he confronted death.
"Yeah, she said it…" Julius affirmed as his knight senses told him that this woman seemed to be trouble. His gaze following the young warrior.
"Make us whole. What does that even mean?" Rem asked.
Roswell for the first time opened his mouth. "I don't know dear Rem. Though, she was not distressed at all just running through the halls without a care in the world. Though, in the video she was really distressed."
"Maybe she succumbed to madness. Anyone would go insane down there…in fear of those monsters being around the corner."
It was the Vollachian princess that after forever uttered her first words. Disgusted by the display of the monsters, her crimson eyes staring daggers at the screen.
"Subaru, that's not her…don't trust anything down there!" Kendra cried out as Subaru gazed to the side of the door. Subaru promptly smashed the pad as he threw it down. His hands going into it as roars of electricity sparkled and clicked. "Subaru, that's not Nicole. You're not…"
"Not…Nicole. Though, we just saw her right in front of Subaru." Emilia spoke. Confusion littered across her face as she could just simply stand confused.
"She was real enough that you could see the light of her eyes and the warmth of her smile. I don't understand what she is talking about." Julius spoke, his words holding a strange semblance of poetry to them.
Al growled like a dog. "Remember, this is the bitch that tried to gaslight Subaru into completing the mission instead of getting reinforcements."
"What…"
"Kendra, she knows something, and I don't trust her. This whole operation felt off. A team of what five or six to repair a station that could hold thousands?" He questioned; his head aimed at the screen as his hand squeezed the chair in front of him like a stress ball.
"Maybe Subaru is that skilled?" Petra's small voice came out.
"…or maybe they just wanted to keep this under the low." He shot back. His hand went to his helmet as he already began explaining his conclusion. "Back in my world our world leaders did shady stuff. Maybe they are using Subaru for something…I do not know. Heck, for all I know I may just be paranoid out of my mind due to what I have been seeing."
They nodded with Otto's superstitions, but some did not believe it. Why would anyone want to cover what was happening on this cursed ship? Would not that be detrimental for the world if these things were ever released. How many civilians or people could get killed in the end.
"Shut the fuck up Kendra!"
"Subaru…" Emilia spoke his name. She didn't like the language her knight was using. Even Julius, Reinhard and Felix recoiled on that one. The sheer brutality of those words, they were knights and treating women with respect was textbook.
"Damn, that was rough." Al chuckled to himself as he leaned on his seat.
Subaru's hands worked through the pad as green lights emitted a hue. "I'll find her, I'll make everything right…"
"Why does he keep saying that?" Email questioned. Her purple eyes trailing along the beautiful woman as her knight so desperately chased after her. "How he will make everything right…"
"Subaru is amazing, such a small mistake shouldn't cause him so much grief." Rem's soft voice went towards the half elf
Ram snorted at the comment. "Barasu is a dupe…he definitely said something stupid."
"Subaru, I saw my brother on this ship. He has be…en…de...for years!"
"The radio cut out. What was she saying…"? Julius spoke as he tried to remember the mess of jarbled text.
"Psh…psh…psh." Mimi badily imitated.
"Mimi, no…just no." Her brother waved her off as she pouted.
Subaru could not understand what she was saying. His hands going into the machine as more green lights emitted. Though, the camera panned behind him…A monster. Though this one was different. This one's jaw was still intact, its jaw have rows of razor like teeth that dripped strange yellow pus as they seeped deep into the other.
"Oh fuck!" Garf shouted
The room was filled with friends and family of Natsuki Subaru. Each of the shouting for the boy to escape to see the inevitable death that was right behind him.
"Subaru run!"
"Damn it…why does this always happen. Why can't he not just be happy?"
"Capn, please just run."
Subaru gazed behind him as the monster snarled and began running. "Oh fuck!" Subaru's hands rapidly slammed into the pad. More sparks echoing as Subaru could only create more sparks.
"What is he even doing!" "He's using magic to create sparks?"
"No, me and Subaru's world doesen't have magic…but oh wait!" Al snapped his fingers in realization. "The kid's hacking the door!"
"Hacking?" it was Felt's voice that spoke the word.
"It's when you use your knowledge of technology to change the way an object works."
They gazed up at him with a confused expression. He sighed as he pointed his finger. "Subaru is like a door smith and that is the lock. Subaru, is basically going to bend the lock to fit the key he is trying to make."
There was a ring of oohs and aahs as they realized what Subaru was doing. As they began to glance back at the screen.
"Authorization grated…Natsuki Subaru, engineer division." Subaru launched himself into the open door as the monster could only slash through thin air. His body freeing himself. Sparks echoed as the monster could only scratch on the steel plating.
"That was close." Garf shuddered as his captain was finally safe.
"Though, how is Natsuki getting out of this one." Anastasia spoke as she gently kneaded her scarf for support.
Subaru heaved as he fell to the floor. His body turning back as he stared at the monster, its claws working as it desperately tried to wedge itself into the opening that it was creating. Subaru's eyes locked all around the room.
Otto's eyes opened in alarm. "Nicole, where is she?"
"I don't know…but where could she has gone, I suppose." Beatrice spoke as her eyes trailed all over the screen trying to find any semblance of the woman. "There are no other openings around this room. Heck, there is no way she could of have slipped out when Subaru was not paying attention."
"I don't understand…where did Nicole go?" Felt asked once again. The viewers scratching there head as they struggled.
The room was quite small, nearly even being considered cramp as Subaru picked himself up. He scanned along the room. His eyes walking towards a table with a seat. He turned the seat around, the man's lower half completely removed as his intestines decorated underneath the workbench in pink and red sludge.
"Oh, for the dragon." Rein covered his mistresses' eyes. The children having there's swiftly covered.
"That is just, disgusting" Priscilla spoke behind her fan at the sudden display of disgust.
Subaru gazed down at the man. In his hands held a metal tool which was…Subaru's hand went to the piece as he took it off the man. His eyes fell to the table as he laid down both the flashlight and the strange piece together.
Subaru quickly took a deep breath as the sounds of the thrashing echoed. Subaru's began working. His hands meticulously crafting as he began to blend the flashlight and this strange piece together.
"What's big bro doing?" Felt asked
"I don't know. I guess he is making something from the scraps. Though, what is he even doing with that flashlight?" Julius spoke. There eyes training along the screen as there friend fought against that thing in his own way.
They knew Subaru…his brothers, his lovers and his friends. They watched the boy with a gleam in there eyes. Natsuki Subaru never gave up.
He lifted up the tool. "A plasma cutter…" He smirked as he reengaged his helmet. The bright cyan lights piercing through the everlasting darkness as three bright lights shout out from the gun.
"Subaru made a fucking gun!" Al jumped from his seat, his hand pointing at the screen. A snicker rising from the boys genius to create his very own weapon.
They already knew of the strange weapons Subaru had in his world…a gun? They peered steadily through as they stared at the screen. A faint smirk as a certain princess watched. "Interesting…"
With a resounding thunk the monster ripped through the door. Destroyed and ripped up steel decorated the floor as the remains of the door fell. The creature's white iris stared at the nasty eyed boy.
"Subaru!" Emilia cried out. The memories of all his deaths repeating in her head as the half elf could only watch. Unable to stop what was going to come.
"Oh, for the dragon. What is he going to do now!" Otto spoke. His hand going to his mouth in fear and shock of what was going to happen.
Wilhelm, the only man in the room stood on his two feet as he watched his son. A smile across his face…knowing full well what was going to happen.
Subaru's plasma cutter aimed at the beast right arm. Though it was too quick. Subaru adjusted the weapon as he pulled the trigger. A bright bronze light erupted from the weapon. A shimmer of color pierced into the monster as its whole right arm was obliterated, shot out and falling to the ground.
"Yeah…Capn!" Garf shouted. The boy flying from his seat as his hand went towards the ceiling. "My capn, he couldn't win before…but he sure as shit won't lose again!"
Beatrice's hands grasped together as she smiled at the boy on screen. "Subaru, he is doing it!"
Julius's eyes widened at the fact Subaru was able to make a weapon so quickly. Not only that but was talented enough to not back into fear and was able to fight. "Come on…Subaru."
Wilhelm, his feet moving him forward as he stood in front of the screen. "Come on…son." He whispered to himself. Though, it was not quiet enough as the sword saint's ears were graced with those words. "So…useless." He spat out as he tended to his mistress.
Though, the room was too small as the monster swiped through the air. Subaru instinctively dodging the first attack.
"Oh no…Barasu. He is completely out of his element in this room." Ram grunted out. Seeing her friend, the boy who saved her and her sister. Now…all she can do is watch him get ripped to shreds without any help!
"What…but Capn can still win, right?" The warrior asked.
Though…he was met with…disappointment. Their eyes down, rubbing their shoulders…avoiding his Capn when he so desperately fought back.
"What are you guys looking down on him for. My capn has fought against worst than these things. Now my capn got a strong weapon that he can use." Their eyes began to softly open at the boy's words, there thoughts whirling as they watched Subaru fight once again. "So, don't you dare look down on him right now."
Priscilla was the only one that kept on staring. Her eyes absorbing every inch of Subaru when he was battling the monster that so desperately wanted him dead.
His gloved left hand grabbed onto the monsters reaming hand. It's body snarling as Subaru wrestled against the monster. The monsters claw scratched Subaru's helmet, digging its blade deeper into the helmet as Subaru violently grabbed it and thrusted it along the wall.
"Subaru, please…don't die!" Emilia cried out. Her hands going along her rapidly beating heart for the boy she cared for. Fear, that her knight will lose…fear that she will fail him once again.
"Barasu, run!"
"Big bro, he can do it. He already took off it's arm he can win this still." Felt screamed to the crowd.
His helmet disengaged as the blade was chipped, the helmet beyond repair. Blood…seeping above Subaru's forehead as he had to close his left eye due to the blood.
"No…capn!" Tears began to fall on Garfs face, he refused to believe it. That his capn would lose to such a pathetic being. "Come on you bastard you have been through far worse. You can fight and kill each of them all!"
Petra, glanced through Frederica's shaking form. Her eyes locking on the screen as her hero fought against everything.
Subaru's plasma cutter began pressing down onto the knee joint of the monster. It's face cascading spit as Subaru's plasma cutter pressed deeper into the muscle of the knee. The knee of the monster exploded as Subaru's plasma bolt ripped through it. The body of the monster falling as Subaru's scary eyes were filled with something, not fear…but determination.
"Captains got that scary look in his eye." Garf shouted. Backing away from the screen.
"Just like that time against sloth…" Anistisa mumbled to herself.
"I'll kill you…"
Subaru's plasma cutter slammed into the monster's face, it's jaw blasting off from its face as it snarled at the boy. Subaru rammed the cutter into the open slit of the monsters separated mouth.
"Disgusting…" Pricella mumbled. Though, there was something else…amusement, or rather entertainment. Though, she felt something when she watched the boy fight against these horrifying monsters.
He pulled the trigger as the monster stopped moving. The body clumsily falling to the ground as Subaru could only stare at the creature. The only sound was Subaru's tired breathing as the boy simply left through the destroyed opening of the room.
"He did it…he killed one. Subaru, he took down his enemy." Julius spoke. His eyes glossing over towards the sleeping boy who conquered the impossible. His gaze falling on him
"My capn is amazing!"
"You fools really did doubt Betty's contractor. Subaru has always had the knack of impressing others, so don't think low of him." Beatrice's voice arose in spite.
He sluggishly made his way. His breathing echoing through the dead halls as Subaru could only push forward. He used his free hand as he pressed onto his rig. "Failure…Failure…Helmet extremely damaged!" The suit repeated. Subaru could only sigh as he used his free hand to swipe away the blood clouding his eye.
"I have to get to the tram." Subaru repeated his mission. His hands closing tighter along the plasma cutter, his sole means of defense as he could only stare down the path ahead. He slammed his foot down as he gripped his weapon. His scary eyes now filled with grit and determination as the screams of more monsters radiated down the hall.
"Subaru's shaking…" Rem spoke, her eyes glistening from tears. Watching her Subaru fight was traumatic, sure she was happy but seeing him in blood and scraps wasn't doing good for her.
"Not in fear…but in determination. Nothing will stop him now." Wilhelm confidently spoke.
"But he was afraid before…Subaru was afraid!" Felix spoke, his nose still bleeding as he watched in silence before. Though, now all eyes were directed back at him.
"My Capn ain't nothing like you." Garf sneered as he turned away from him. "When he is in the face of danger no matter the odds he confront them, his woman needs his help. A man fights for those he loves, and my Capn is the greatest man there ever was."
"As long as I have you Nicole…" More necro morphs appeared. There claws bursting through the vents as Subaru's scary eyes. There white irises glowing in the fierce darkness. There unsteady feet marching there way towards Subaru.
"There beginning to swarm him. But Subaru has to go down that hallway." Mimi spoke up, her voice echoing through the theater as they could only scowl in anguish for there friend.
"Barasu, don't die you idiot." Ram mumbled to herself, her eyes trained to the sleeping boy as the silent praise touched his ears.
"What is he planning…" Al spoke, worried over his brother. Anguishing in his brothers fate…as Garf only gave a flashy smile.
"My capn is a headstrong bastard. What do you think?"
It took Frederica a second for her brother's words to process through her head. "No Garf that is a terrible idea!" She shouted as strands of her golden hair collapsed onto her face.
Subaru glanced down to his left…his eyes seeing a sort of panel. A glass plate covered the box shaped item. Subaru's bare fist slammed into the glass breaking it upon impact. He reached out. An axe with a red blade and wooden hilt, nearly half the size of his arm. He leveled the blade in his left hand as he charged at the monsters. His scary eyes shining as the necro's could only watch.
"Subaru…" Emilia spoke. Her eyes scanning Subaru as the boy grabbed the axe. "What is he planning on doing?"
A faint snicker came from Al. The princess leaning up as she pressed the fan towards her side. "What do you think…the boy is going to slaughter them all, how entertaining." She chided at Emilia.
Subaru's teeth grit as one necromorph scrambled his way. His body swiftly dodging as his hatchet cleanly sliced through the yellow puffy flesh of its arm.
"The boy sure is talented." Wilhelm spoke out loud. His eyes training all over Subaru's quick movements as he struggling to keep up with them.
"Of course. Betty's Subaru is talented…stating this is practically obvious at this point."
Emilia, her gaze went down. She didn't want this…none of this for her Subaru to go through. Why? Why must he suffer for those that he cares for!
His plasma cutter echoing as the necro morph gaining in his direction began to charge at him. Only to be stopped as Subaru blown it's knee off. "I won't let this happen…I will find you Nicole!" Subaru screamed out as his axe sliced through another necromph. "Because…my wife…is my last hope!"
