Sakura and Sasuke and Naruto

A/n : Massacre never happens , no kyuubi attack, EVERYBODY LIVESSSS!!

"What would you give me for my birthday then?"

It was a genuine question. Her teammates were arguing about what kind of gifts they would get for their birthdays this year. Sasuke boasted that his older brother Itachi always gave him the best gifts. Naruto replied that because his father was the Hokage, his gifts would be far more important. Sakura's parents were common civilians , and she adored everything they gave her. But she was curious as to what her teammates would get her and expected a simple response like flowers or something close. However, both of the bickering boys came to a halt and stared at her. She took a step back, self-aware.

"What?"

Naruto got too close to her face, and she had to fight the urge to slap him away.

"Well, what would you want Sakura-chan?? I could get you anything you want!!" His hands pointed everywhere.

Sasuke came up to him and yanked him back so sakura had room to move.

"You have to get her something useful idiot." He pondered. "I would get you a weapon that would suite your fighting style." He smiled triumphantly.

"Ehh? Weapons?! But-but Sakura-chan has us, she doesn't need to fight!!" Naruto looked expectantly at her.

True it would be nice to not fight. But she chose to be a shinobi and she doesn't regret it one bit. She admires her teammates and would do anything for them. Their protection she cherished, but being a shinobi meant you had to be able to stand with your teammates as well as on your own

"Protection goes both ways Naruto! You don't think I want to protect you too??" She faked a hurt tone.

She actually felt hurt when she saw from his expression that Naruto actually believed she wouldn't want or couldn't protect them. But his mouth quickly turned into a big smile and he pumped his fists in the air.

"Well then we'll be the best shinobi ever and protect everybody!! Right Sasuke, Sakura-chan??"

Sasuke answered with his usual 'hn' which triggered Naruto to argue with him again. But the smile he had on his face told her that he agreed with Naruto's words.

She thought she'd had to separate them again but the two of them actually stopped. Naruto whispered to Sasuke and nudged him towards her. When he didn't say anything Naruto huffed and asked her "We already told you what we'd get you Sakura-chan." Looking anywhere but her, he continued. "Umm, what would you give to us?"

Peeking at Sasuke, she saw that he was also avoiding her gaze. She laughed out loud.

"That's a secret."

"That's not fair!!" Naruto yelled.

Sasuke, irritated by her answer, motioned for them to head home. Naruto suggested that they eat some ramen before splitting up. He dragged Sasuke towardsichiraku, grabbing him by the collar of his shirt. Sakura trailed close behind, her face lit up with a warm smile.
