A/N: Decided to make a chapter after two or three years. Some of you probably lost interest, but that's fine. For the people that are notified of the update, enjoy the chapter.

"This is going to be a troublesome time," Garth sighed to himself.

Garth was sitting in the empty classroom all by himself. He dismissed the students a few minutes ago. Things have been weird the entire teaching session. Since he is the only human male in the school (especially a man from a different world), the students kept asking him questions about where he is from and how he got here. Some even complained about how he can even teach them despite not being a witch.

"I'm thankful that the headmistress allowed me to stay here until I figure out a way back home, but..." the mage leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling. "Teaching self-defense magic to students is a bit too much to ask."

Garth has some doubts about this whole 'teaching' thing. He's a will-user, a mage basically, far different from a wizard, which is the closest thing to a witch. He could teach them fire and lightning spells with a demonstration, but he doesn't know if he should be teaching them anything lethal.

Garth glanced down at his desk and looked at the textbook that had spells for witches to use when in tough situations. The spells aren't lethal but good enough to stun or distract their attacker.

The students are pretty quick learners. Some had to have some practice before perfecting their spells. Diana even surprised Garth with how well she is at casting. He was told she is a prodigy, but he didn't expect her to be more than just talented.

"But Akko..." Garth quietly said under his breath.

He remembered times were when she tried to cast a simple sleep spell, and it either didn't cast or blew up in her face. Garth couldn't help but worry about her because of all the teasing she gets from some of her peers. He should've expected this when he first met her. He believes she can do better, he really does, but he also has his doubts.

"Maybe she's not cut out for being a wi—,"

Garth was interrupted by hearing two knocks. He turned his head to face the door and saw Ursula at the doorway.

"Professor Garth," she said politely as she bowed her head to him.

"No need to add the 'professor,' Professor Ursula," Garth replied.

The dark blue-haired witch walked towards the dark-skinned mage as she smiled at him.

"How was your first class?" Ursula asked him.

Garth chuckled a bit as he rubs his chin. "It was a bit rough at the start, but I managed to have the children learn something." He flashed a small smirk at the witch.

"O-Oh, that's good," said Ursula quietly. She clears her throat before standing upright. "How was Akko?"

When Ursula mentioned Akko, Garth started chuckling nervously. He can't just blatantly tell her that the young brunette is terrible, she is her mentor, and he doesn't want her to feel like she's not doing a good job.

Garth sighed and stood up from his seat, and looked down at the woman.

"I believe Atsuko isn't putting all of her concentration on the magic," Garth said. "I heard she had cast spells before, and I believe she needs to put her all into her spell casting."

Ursula looks at Garth with surprise. "That can't be right; Akko is always trying her best."

"Then she needs to aim higher," he continued. "Is there any techniques you can teach her to make things easier?"

"Ummm..." Ursula puts her finger on her chin as she looks away from Garth, thinking. "I don't know... but I'll do my best to help her!"

Garth smiled a bit as Ursula smiled back.

"What do you teach, Professor Ursula?" Garth asked her curiously.

"Oh, I teach astronomy."

"Does astronomy have anything to do with light witchcraft?"

"I suppose it has some importance, but not as magic-prioritized like broom riding or potion-making."

Garth hasn't talked to another magic user since he met Sparrow in the Spire. It's nice to talk about magic to someone else, despite their difference in knowledge.

"Oh, I must get going. I must attend to my class," Ursula bowed her head again before heading towards the door. "Let's talk more sometime." She smiled at him before leaving.

Garth waved at her before she left. "An interesting lady... for someone who radiates so much magical energy, she only teaches astrology?" He asked himself.

He then shakes his head, brushing off the idea from his mind. Garth grabs the spell from his desk before leaving the classroom.

As he walked down the school hallway, some of the students greeted him as they pass by while some nervously look away. They're probably still afraid of him because of his disgraceful entrance at the ceremony.

"Maybe I should look around," Garth said to himself. "I still haven't fully explored this school."

As he wandered around the academy, it reminded him of the school he went to when he was younger, during a time when magic was accepted by society. He saw some creatures working at the school: like gnomes, trolls, orcs, etc.

There's a lot he needs to learn about this new world. When he first arrived in this world, he saw a flying metal bird in the moving carriages without the use of horses. He also remembered seeing people holding slides of glass in their hands, sometimes talking into it.

Garth looked outside of the window, seeing the students racing on brooms.

"Garth," an older woman said from behind him.

Garth turned around and saw Professor Finnelan. She has the same serious face she always has.

"Professor Finnelan," Garth bows his head. "Is there something you need?"

"We need your help," Professor Finnelan answered.

"With what?"

"It seems you weren't the only one who was transported to our world."
