Chat made it back to the locker room just in time to see Kagami entering the large room first. He had made it back with only seconds to spare, as he dived into the bathroom and transformed back, before he headed out to meet her.

And break up with her.

'This could go really really badly.'

As the blonde stepped out into the locker room, his red clad girlfriend strode up to him as she removed her helmet and shook out her hair. The disapproving look she shot him was not one he wanted to be on the end of.

Especially as he knew her mood was about to darken.

Adrien's stomach twisted painfully.

"Kagami I-"

"I really hope your stomach is not playing up again Adrien," she began, "you know that you cannot go on like this." The dark haired beauty went to kiss him on the lips, but the nervous teen turned his cheek to her at the last moment, causing a small disgruntled huff to come out of her nose. "You need to see a doctor." When the blonde looked back at her, Adrien could see a small smile accompanying her concerned caramel gaze and the secret hero felt even more guilty that he was about to break up with her.

"I know, and th-thank you for your concern Kagami but-"

"No buts Adrien," she pursed her lips as she sat down and looked up at him, "it needs looking into."

"I-I know," he reached for the back of his neck, realising that it was a common movement which gave away his nerves. 'Need to stop that…' "listen, I-I've been thinking-"

"Oh?" The red clad teen perked up, "what about?"

"Us."

"Us?" Kagami echoed, her head tilting inquiringly as Adrien saw her thoughtful eyes harden.

Green eyes could not bring themselves to look at his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend. "I like you Kagami, I really do-"

Kagami sighed as she looked up at him. "But…"

Adrien gulped, "but I only see you a-as a friend, I'm sorry Kagami."

The Japanese teen stood abruptly, causing Adrien to falter and take a step back. "At least you are no longer indecisive Adrien." She placed a firm hand on his shoulder, "the truth is all I ever wanted from you." She kissed him on the cheek before picking up her bag off the bench, "please tell me honestly Adrien, the person who was previously your target… was it Marinette?"

Adrien flinched back from her a fraction, "n-no, she's-"

"Adrien," Kagami levelled with him, "there is only one person you look at how I wish you would look at me, and that is Marinette. Stop lying to yourself please, and accept that she is not just a friend to you."

"Why are you taking his pictures down?"

Hugo peered at her with amusement, as she and Tikki took down the pictures of Adrien's adverts from her bedroom walls. The young woman just shrugged absentmindedly as Tikki rolled her eyes for Hugo to see, the dark haired male chuckled quietly.

"You know that my papa doesn't mind the stupidly big crush you had on Adrien… it's something that gets brought up regularly if I'm honest."

Marinette turned in surprise, fast enough to knock herself off balance and crash onto the floor after falling from her computer chair. Hugo was becoming much more comfortable around her after he had revealed himself to his teenage maman, and found himself chuckling as he assisted her up off the floor while she groaned and huffed with a pout.

"I bet it's something that alley cat doesn't let me forget," the maskless heroine grumbled as Tikki shook her head in exasperation out of her chosen's eyeline. "A stupid school girl crush that obviously didn't matter in the grand scheme of thin-"

"You have a message." Tikki chirped and shot Hugo a warning look before he could let out some damaging information about their identities. 'Honestly, I wish they already knew too!'

Marinette looked from her son, to Tikki, and back again, "do you want to uh, suit up again too?"

Hugo's big green eyes widened childishly as he bounced on the spot; to Marinette, it was obvious where he got his enthusiasm from. "Can I? That would be so cool! But uh, can I have my actual Kwami this time please? The one I, uh, have come to know in the future?"

Big blue eyes looked surprised at his request but realised that if he had been trusted to come back, that he must have had some sort of experience with a Kwami. "Of course, which one-"

"I actually have them here…" The male teen pulled out a tiny unassuming box and opened the lid to show no other than the butterfly Miraculous, as Nooroo materialised inches from her nose.

"Good day Miss Marinette, it is lovely to meet your younger self."

her blue eyes flitted between an unphased, happily smiling, previously missing Kwami and her sheepish looking son.

"Where did you-?"

"My grandpa was, or is, Hawkmoth." He rubbed the back of his neck, reminding his teen maman instantly of another green eyed young teen.

As Marinette came to terms with the situation and pondered the familiar action, Tikki excitedly tackled her long lost fried in mid air and they tumbled away to the Miracle Box. The ravenette shook her head, 'it's got to be a coincidence because I've been taking his pictures down!'

Hugo continued: "when we go to him, he will hand it over willingly, but uh, there will be something else which I will tell you-"

"Marinette?" Sabine's voice trailed up through the shut trapdoor which Hugo looked at with suddenly saddened eyes. "Is Marc still up there with you?"

"Yes Maman," Marinette shouted back, watching her son intently as a tear formed in his eye.

"Would he like to stay for dinner?"

Hugo nodded with small movements but failed to look at Marinette.

"He would like that," Marinette replied, pursing her lips as Hugo wiped the moisture from his cheek. "Thanks Maman." Just as she was turning to the other teen, Marinette added as a thought hit her: "we're just heading out, but will be back later. Could you do enough for another too please, as our friend will be joining us if that is okay?"

"Of course dear," her mother replied happily, "I'll leave it in the oven to be warmed through."

"Thanks Maman!" The ravenette quickly pulled Hugo to look her in the eye once she knew that the coast was clear below. "Why are you upset? What happens?"

He shook his head while his gaze flitted around the room, "nothing, it's just. I haven't heard her voice for a few years… that's all."

Marinette felt a pain shoot through her chest, "i-is… she?"

"I can't say," he replied quietly, holding himself sadly, "but I promise I won't make it weird when I see her."

"Are you going to be okay to be around them?"

He nodded again, "I will."
