"My queen are you sure imprisoning the man is the right thing to do?" Artemis asked Queen Hippolyta as they made their way down the hall leading to the throne room.

"Until I decide otherwise, Mister Wayne will remain on the island" the Queen responded before walking into the throne room with Artemis right behind her.

The moment the doors closed a hooded figure stepped out from the shadows. The figure looked around then made their way down the hall away from the throne room. As the hooded figure made their way down the hall, they made sure to watch out for any guard that happened to be walking around the castle grounds. Nearing the intended destination, the figure stopped and slipped back up against the wall just as two guards walked around the corner. The moment the guards walked past where the hooded figure was hiding and turned the corner, that's when the figure re-emerged from the hiding spot and went towards the door.

The hooded figure pulled open the door and stepped inside, making sure to close the door behind them. They walked up to the statue of the Greek goddess Artemis, but the statue wasn't what the hooded figure was looking at. It was what laid at the statue's feet. A red bustier with a gold eagle. A blue leather skirt with gold edges and two stars, and knee-high red boots with gold knee guards and accents. Located right above the bustier was a gold tiara with a red star along with silver wrist gauntlets and a golden lasso.

Looking behind them to make sure that no one was coming towards the room, they quickly grabbed each item and threw them into the bag that they were carrying. Once they had grabbed everything they turned to leave only to stop when something shiny caught the corner of their eye making them turn to see a sword lying at the feet of the statue of Ares, the God of War. The hooded figure turned to make their way towards the sword only to stop when the door to the room came flying open and General Antiope stood in the doorway.

"I cannot allow you to go any further" General Antiope said as she readied her blade.

The hooded figure didn't respond as they reached into the bag and pulled out the golden lasso then dropped the bag to the ground. General Antiope rushed towards the trespasser with her blade high, the hooded figure leapt to the left dodging the attack then quicky threw the lasso at Antiope's wrist, but the General was too quick and caught the lasso with her other hand. Antiope wrapped the lasso around her own arm and wrist before pulling hard making the mystery person stumble forwards. Antiope rushed her opponent again, this time she anticipated the hooded figure's dodging attempt as she dropped down and swept the legs out from underneath the figure knocking them to the floor. Antiope pointed the tip of her sword at the mysterious figure's throat.

"Give me a reason why I shouldn't end you right now?" Antiope growled.

The hooded figure slowly reached up and pulled their hood back revealing their face, catching Antiope off guard.

"I need your help." They said with pleading eyes.

Bruce sat up against the wall in the holding cell that the Amazons placed him in. He needed to get out of the cell and off Themyscria because he needed to get home before the League of Assassins arrived. His head shot up when he heard footsteps coming in the direction of his cell. He turned his head to see a woman about his age making her way towards him. Bruce turned away so as to not make eye contact with her.

"Why did you come to this island?" she asked as she reached his cell door.

"Crash landing on your island wasn't my intention, the man who one of your Amazons killed…" he let out a small chuckle.

"What is so funny?" she asked him.

"When I was seven I remember reading about Amazons and anything to do with Greek Mythology and now 21 years later I come to find out that Amazons are real" he replied.

The hooded woman didn't share his amusement.

"Anyway, the one called Artemis, the man she killed was attempting to kill me" Bruce replied.

"Why?" she asked.

"He was sent by a very powerful group to stop me from returning home because they want to destroy my home and I need to get back or everyone in the city will die" Bruce said as he slowly got to his feet.

"How do I know you're not lying?" the woman asked.

Bruce turned his head finally looking her straight in her eyes.

"The group is called The League of Assassins, led by someone calling themselves The Demon's Head, and their life's mission is to cleanse this world in an act of Eco-Terrorism." He said to her sternly while unblinkingly looking at her straight in the eye.

"And must it be you who stops them? Why not leave it to your city to defend itself" she asked staring right back into his eyes.

"Because like you I must do everything to protect my people and that's why it must be me, because I am the only one capable of doing it," he said to her in a deathly serious voice.

The woman stepped backwards then pushed her cloak to the side and held out her hand to reveal she was holding the key.

The woman walked towards Bruce's cell and placed the key in the lock and turned it, unlocking the cell door. She stepped back then motioned for Bruce to follow her before turning on her heel and walked out of the cave where the holding cells were located. She didn't need to turn around to know that Bruce was following her she could hear his footsteps as he walked behind her. He quickly caught up to her so that they were walking side by side.

"I can tell you don't sleep, any reason?" the woman asked as they walked.

"Nightmares" he replied shortly.

The woman didn't press the matter, but she could sense that there was more to the story than the man was telling her. Normally she would press on such matters, but she could tell it was something too personal, so she didn't. They came upon an opening in the woods to reveal the beach that Bruce had crashed onto. It was the same as before except the body of the man who had tried to kill Bruce was missing.

"You're letting me go?" he asked with a small hint of confusion in his voice.

"If what you told me is true then I must help you get back to your city, but we must go before..." the woman started to say.

"Diana!"

The woman and Bruce stopped in their tracks, they slowly turned around to see Queen Hippolyta, Artemis and a group of Amazon warriors standing there. The queen stepped forward with anger in her eyes.

"You dare defy me?" Queen Hippolyta asked angrily.

The woman who had released Bruce from his cell pulled her hood down to reveal her face.

"What about what you did those years ago? When you left the island to fight in the war? Is it not the same?" Diana asked defiantly.

Queen Hippolyta narrowed her eyes at her daughter then spoke.

"If you leave, then you cannot come back" she said.

"I'm sorry mother, I must do this" Diana said then turned and started walking away with Bruce right behind her.

Queen Hippolyta stood there watching as her daughter walked away then after a brief moment of silence, Artemis spoke again.

"You did not tell her." Artemis stated.

Hippolyta didn't respond as she watched the young man then she finally responded.

"No, she is not ready to hear the truth but one day she will be" Queen Hippolyta replied. 'My dear daughter, how could I tell you that I know more than you think, that I once worked with his father as part of a group of heroes that I believed will raise again' Queen Hippolyta thought to herself before her and Artemis turned and walked back.

As they walked, Bruce would occasionally look over at Diana. Bruce could tell that the woman walking alongside him was the daughter of Queen Hippolyta as they shared some resemblance, but there was something else about her too, but Bruce wasn't sure what it was. The walk to the plane was a short and quiet one as neither of them spoke. They climbed aboard the plane. Diana took the pilot seat while Bruce assumed the co-pilot seat. They sat in silence as Diana started the engine. Bruce looked out the window as the plane started raising up into the air then took off.

"Have you ever been off the island?" Bruce asked her.

"No" She replied not looking away from what she was doing.

"Then how did the Amazons come to acquire such a plane like this?" he asked her.

"As you overheard my talk with my mother, a few years ago during man's war with Germany, my mother left the island with a man named Steve Trevor. To fight in the war that would have been the war to end all wars" Diana said as she pushed a few buttons finally engaging the auto-pilot allowing her to lean back in the chair. "After the war ended, my mother stayed in man's world to protect the helpless and eventually she joined others who shared her aspirations to save people and together they formed a group of heroes called.."

"The Justice Society of America" Bruce said.

Diana nodded.

"So, tell me about yourself" she asked him.

"My parents were murdered when I was eight years old. I couldn't cope with the pain I felt so I ran away from my home and the only family member I had left. I traveled the world and learned various things to try and help me cope and deal with the anger I had towards the man who killed them." He responded before going silent.

"And did you?" she asked him to which he responded.

"I still feel that anger, but I was taught how to direct my anger towards the criminals and corruption ruining my city."

Diana didn't say anything at first, she looked at him out the corner of her eye.

"Yes?" he said without looking over at her.

"When and if you find the man who killed your parents will you take revenge?" she asked him. "Would you be willing to take the life of the man who killed your parents?" she added before going silent waiting for his answer.

"No, because I know if I kill, I become no better than any of those thugs who kill each other in the name of revenge. Despite my intentions, despite my goals…I will not become the one thing that took my childhood away, that took everything from me. If I kill, I forsake everything my father taught me. If I let myself go down that pit, I will never climb back up" he stated firmly.

Diana didn't speak, she had no idea what to say, she understood that making a promise like the one that Bruce had just made would be difficult to keep. She glanced out the window of the plane to her left, she then remembered something, so she reached back behind Bruce's seat and grabbed one of the bags she had brought with them. She pulled her arm back then handed it out to Bruce who took the bag.

"Before I came to retrieve you, I was able to acquire your bag that you had with you when you crashed onto the island" Diana said.

Bruce opened the bag then pulled something out, it was a black mask that resembled a bat, it was Japanese tengu mask that was given to him by Shiva during his training. He had used it mostly to hide his identity from the other students so they wouldn't know who he was, the only person who knew who was behind the mask was Shiva.

"We'll be landing soon" Diana said catching his attention.

Bruce placed the mask back into the bag and closed it, he hoped that if they ran into anyone when they land that they wouldn't recognized him. It was one of the many reasons why he decided to grow a bread and let his hair grow down to his shoulders. Bruce looked out the window to his right and watched as the plane started to descend downwards. It was more than likely he had been presumed dead since he's been missing for a few years.

"While we're here, don't mention who I am" Bruce said.

"Why? Should they not know that you have returned?" Diana asked confused.

Bruce took a deep breath.

"It's complicated" he responded just as the plane touched ground.

Bruce and Diana got up from their seats and made their way to the back of the plane. They gathered their things before getting out. Bruce noticed that they had landed near a hanger but that's not the only thing he noticed. There was a car waiting for them, standing next to the car was a man wearing a military uniform. Bruce turned to ask Diana what was going on but before he could speak the man in the military uniform walked out to meet them.

"Miss Prince, we were unaware you would be bringing someone with you" the man said as he sized Bruce up.

"Ah yes, this is my friend…" Diana started to say then turned to Bruce signaling to introduce himself.

"The name is Matches Malone and Diana here, offered me a way back home" Bruce responded.

The Man looked Bruce up and down before speaking.

"Well Mister Malone, Welcome to Washington D. C."

Thanks for reading.
