"Percy, where are we going?"
"You'll see, love... you'll see." Annabeth's heart fluttered. Even though Percy called her love or sweetheart or babe constantly, she couldn't help but blush. Percy, of course found it adorable.
Currently, she is sitting in the car, rather impatiently, as Percy is not willing to tell her, where on earth are, they going! He wants to surprise her as it is her birthday, but Annabeth hates not knowing something.
"Are you finally going to teach me how to skateboard?" Upon seeing Percy's confused expression, Annabeth added, "I am not blind seaweed brain, I saw you put your skateboard in the trunk."
"You and I both know; I am not ready for it yet."
"What are you so scared of, anyway?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" He smirked at her as she rolled her eyes.
"At least tell me how long it will take to reach the mystery place." Annabeth whined.
"A long time." She sighed.
Annabeth couldn't help but doze off after a while. The past few months were tiring. College certainly is not a child's play. She had tests after test. Percy and Annabeth both decided it is better for them to hold off on the settling in New Rome plan. They both got accepted into their dream college, Annabeth to Columbia and Percy to NYU. Needless to say, she is really proud of Percy. He had worked his butt off trying to get into NYU, and Annabeth almost burst into tears when he got his acceptance letter.
Annabeth jerked awake as Percy suddenly breaked.
"That moron!" He growled at the car in front of them.
Annabeth bit her lips, trying to hide her smile, while she looked out. It is a beautiful sight, where the roads are surrounded by pink blossoms.
"How much longer?" Annabeth asked, rubbing her eyes.
"Five more minutes."
Annabeth stared at out, dazed, just having woken up, not realizing that Percy is constantly stealing glances at her with a fond smile.
Annabeth didn't notice they had stopped until Percy parked the car and turned towards her, visibly excited.
"Let's go!"
"This place is beautiful." Annabeth whispered.
"Only the best for you." Percy smirked, wrapping his arms around her from behind.
"How did you find this place?"
"Uh.. your mother might have given me this idea."
"Athena?!" Annabeth exclaimed, shocked.
"Uh-huh, looks like she finally approved of us." Seeing her smile, Percy added," Also, Zeus promised us a monster-free day."
Annabeth turned towards him, wrapping her arms around his neck and whispered in his ears, "Can I tell you a secret?" Percy nodded, amused. "I love you."
"Oh, that's good, cause I love you too." Percy drew his hands from her waist and cupped her cheeks, giving her a long, sweet kiss. "Happy birthday, Wise Girl."
They just sat there together, enjoy the view and each other's company.
"I am happy you brought me here." Annabeth finally said. "Even though I was behaving like a brat."
"I found it cute." After seeing his raised eyebrows, he added, "No, I am serious, you are adorable."
They sat in silence, just enjoying each other's company. After a while, Percy finally spoke.
"I got something for you."
Percy reached down to his pocket and pulled out a small box.
"Happy birthday." He whispered, giving it to her.
Inside is a tiny ring that's made of celestial bronze and diamond stones.
Not receiving any reactions from Annabeth, Percy started ranting hesitantly, "It's not a promise or engagement ring, but I thought it looked good, nevermind.. you hate it, I can r-"
Annabeth silenced him with a passionate kiss, trying to show all her love and gratitude into that one kiss.
"So, you liked it?" Percy asked Annabeth, grinning widely.
"Liked it? I freaking love it." Annabeth answers, giving him yet another kiss.
"Oh, thank god."
"You seriously thought I would hate it?" Annabeth asked, bemused.
"Honestly, no. but boy was I freaking out."
"Well, I love it." Percy smiled and kissed her forehead. "I am glad" he murmured.
Percy took the ring from Annabeth and said. "Look, if you press this stone, it will turn into your drakon sword."
"Perce… this is amazing,"
"Not as amazing as you."
"Aww, you big oll sap."
"Don't tease me, I just gave you the best gift ever."
"Yes, and I love you… so much."
"I love you too." Percy said, treading his fingers with hers, "You are my forever." He whispered.
