The Next Generation
CHAPTER 2
Absolute Zero sat in her corner of the ring breathing slow and steadily through her mask. She focused on nothing else but the words in her head "You are ice, you are cold, you are strong, You are-" she thought until.
"Absolute Zero!" Connie says snapping AZ out of her state, slowly rising and bowing to Connie
Outside the ring Steven was focused on Absolute Zero looking at her concerned as fiddled with his fingers. Not paying attention when Rain was called out and bowed to Connie as well.
"What's on your mind Steve-o?" Cassie asks.
"Guys I think absolute Zero is Xue Liang." Steven whispered to his friends.
"Yeah well duh." Cassie says.
"It's kinda obvious." Kung Jin says.
"You guys already knew?" Steven says surprised.
"She's wearing the Lin Kuei Talisman." Kung Jin says simply.
"And she's dressed like her daddy, who else could it be?" Cassie says with a laugh.
"Okay….. But why is she here?" Steven asks.
"Same as we are probably. To prove that she can stand with the greats." Cassie says.
Absolute Zero took her stance; it was that of Shotokan feet planted firmly on the ground, arms held in front of her. Across from her Rain did a kata before taking the stance of Zi Ran Men front foot lightly on the ground back planted firmly.
"I'll give you one chance to forfeit. You don't want this." Rain says seriously.
"Counter offer, you forfeit. Cause you don't know what you are up against." Absolute says seriously.
"So be it." Rain says as he holds his hands to his side leaving himself open.
This confused Zero a bit as to why he did this, until she noticed water dripping from his fingertips. Before she could process it Rain held both hands back and from them a high powered jet of water shot out from both propelling him forward. Absolute Zero's eyes widened in surprise as he came at her and with a WHACK landed a kick to her face, sending her off her feet. Zero flips away from Rain getting to his feet as he shoots out his hand and from it a high powered stream of water shot from it. The firehose like stream shot at Zero, the young girl raising her hands to guard herself letting it slam into her forearms, making her skid back as the water exploded and wetted the arena.
"OH! His name is Rain, and he uses water! Wow his parents must've been lucky with that!" Cassie says.
"Subtlety is not really something, a lot of people in this line of business do." Kung Jin says.
Back in the ring Zero was on the defensive blocking a series of blows from Rain, eventually throwing a jumping knee which broke her guard. He then hit her with an overhead sending her face first onto the ground with a WHACK. Rain then tried to stomp down on Zero's back only for her to roll out of the way and sweep his leg from under him. He fell to his back as Zero flippined up to her feet and rushed the downed Rain sending a kick to his side sending him sliding across the ground. He nearly reached the end before flipping up to his feet and blocking Zero's next hit. Zero threw a series of punches all blocked before then going for a kick. Only for Rain to grab her leg by the ankle and send a backhand to her face, sending her back and as she stumbled slammed a kick to her chest. Absolute Zero gagged through her mask as the wind was knocked out of her, crashing onto her rear with a cough.
"Looks like the little ninja isn't doing so well." Nitara says unimpressed.
"That's because she hasn't gone all out yet." Steven says.
"And how would you know?" Nitara asks with a raised eyebrow which immediately made Steven shut his mouth.
"Come on Xue, I know you can do better than this." Steven thought as he watched Absolute Zero stand up slowly.
As she did Rain brought his hands together creating a Hydro bubble which he then threw at Zero. Zero exhales her breath visible with an icy mist as she then raises her hand towards the bubble. As the bubble inched closer, from her hand a blue mist shot out from her hand engulfing the hydro bubble. Everyone gasped as within seconds the bubble hardened turning into ice becoming a solid ball of Ice. It was still flying at Zero who flipped back catching it with her hands and then throwing it back at Rain. The purple ninja was still taken aback by the action and was unprepared for his own attack coming back at him. The ice ball shattered upon impacting his face along with a few bones around his nose and skull as his head flew back. He immediately screamed out in pain as he held his face with a pained grunt.
As Rain stumbled back Zero took a stance as the blue mist emitted through her feet. She then started to slide forward a trail of ice forming as she did. She slid across the as if she was ice skating quickly reaching Rain, she spun around him and delivered a chop to the back of his neck. Rain let out another pained scream as he held his neck and stumbled forward only to then get a kick to his back making him fly forward. Zero took a stance and quickly swayed her arms about before shooting them up from them a blue icy beam shot out. It shot into the sky and started to form a brick of Ice over the downed Rain, once it was as big as a folding chair it started to fall. Rain saw this and rolled out of the way where it crashed and shattered on the ground. Rain had barely any time to breath as Zero came in with a punch to his side making his grunt and swing a backhand at her. She ducked under it, throwing an uppercut to his chin and a low kick to his shin. After taking both blows he blocked the next oncoming punches grabbing the last one and twisting it. As Zero winced she took a kick to the body and face forcing her back as Rain reared his foot back and threw a roundhouse kick aimed right at her face. Zero could feel the force of the kick coming at her and started to fall back, as she did she turned to ice and as she touched the ground, she sunk into it as if she and it were one.
Rain gasped in surprise as she vanished only to have her emerge directly behind him, throwing a punch to his back sending him flying across the arena. He rolled across the ground getting to his fours breathing hard seeing Zero was coming at him again. In desperation he shot out his water blast at her, seeing it coming at her zero holds both her hands back as blue energy and mists concentrates in her hands. She then shoots the concentrated ball at the water stream, once it connects the stream hardened and turns to ice. The ice crept across the whole stream freezing it all, until it reached Rain's hand freezing it as well. He hisses in pain as the cold overtook his hand, and with an ice pillar now attached to it he couldn't keep his hand up. Zero grabbed the pill and broke off a part of it using it as a makeshift staff before charging at Rain. She spun it before breaking it across his face, his eyes shuddered and his world blurred as the broken Ice fell to the ground. Zero then raised her foot above her head and brought it down to Rain's slightly frozen hand.
CRACK!
Time slowed as the bones in Rain's hand were visible shuddering under the pressure of the kick before giving in. The bones broke, fractures going through his hand and up to his forearm, his fingers twisted from the force. Rain let out a blood curdling scream holding his mangled hand only to then get a punch to the face. Rain was completely defenseless as Zero took him down with cold and calculated precession. A punch to the face, one to the chest, a kick to the lower leg, and then to the throat. Rain stumbled back holding his throat gasping for air as Zero stood before him with his stance. Connie from where she sat could see his legs shaking and knew this was over.
FINISH HIM!
Zero upon hearing this narrowed her eyes at her opponent. Zero freezes the ground under Rain into a makeshift Ice skating rink. She takes a graceful stance and then proceeds to skate circles around her Rain as he tries to stay up on the ice. She then rushes in with a flurry of attacks skating past the quickly and attacking, Rain's body was jerked around violently as she moved past punching him in every open spot she could. Leaving him dazed and dizzy Zero got some distance before coming at him like a speed skater, she then took the air with a pirouette. Coming at him she delivered a spin kick to the side of his head. Rain's eyes rolled into his head as he fell to the ice sliding across with a small spin, as Zero stops herself in the ice doing a small spin and a final pose.
ABSOLUTE ZERO WINS!
BRUTALITY
"Guess he was rather unlucky. Facing an opponent that could counter his powers." Tany says with a smirk.
"She's gotten good." Cassie whispers to Steven.
"She was always that good." Steven whispers back.
"Oh yeah you guys used to hangout right?" Cassie asks.
"Yeah, but then she said she needed to focus on her training and didn't have time for kids stuff. Haven't seen a lot of her since." Steven says.
"Well now is your time to talk to her." Jin says.
"When I saw her in the main hall, she ran. I don't think she wants to talk." Steven says.
"Well you gotta try. Cause there's a 50% chance you're gonna meet in the ring and duke it out. And you atleast wanna go in there as good friends or you'll end up like Purple Rain there." Cassie says pointing to the KO'd Rain as he was carted out of the arena by the attendants.
"There will now be an hour recess before our next fight, do what you please. Eat Lunch, explore the Island, prepare for the next fight. You will be informed when and where the next fight would be." Connie says as she stands up from her throne and makes her way followed by two attendants.
"Hold up!" Jin said.
Connie and her attendants stopped, and she looked over her shoulder at him.
"Yes?" She asked.
"During the match, at brief moments, everyone saw Cassie and her opponent's bodies turn transparent and expose their skeletons like X-rays," Jin explained, "what was that about?"
"Yes," Nitara chipped in, "that seems like something we ought to know about if we're going to be seeing it often."
"Oh that," Connie said flippantly, "that was just the island's magic 'enhancing the experience' for spectating Kombatants. Likely as a way to satiate any of the more bloodthirsty fighters, or some sort of entertainment. Don't really know which it is myself."
"That's," Steven paused to find the right word, "disturbing."
"Interesting." Nitara said.
"Awesome!" Cassie cried with stars in her eyes.
"You would say that," Jin said, rolling his eyes, "I find it disconcerting."
"Oh lay off." Cassie retorted.
"Any other questions?" Connie asked, an eyebrow raised, to which everyone shook their heads.
"Good, have a nice recess." She said, taking her leave.
Absolute zero sighed as she stepped down from the arena and started walking away from everyone else. Everyone else seemed to scatter aside from the 3 Earthrealm friends, with a shove from Cassie Steven then decided to follow Zero.
"Um hey, nice fight Xue." Steven says approaching her, only to be grabbed by the collar and forced against the wall.
"Do not use my name here Steven! My name is Absolute Zero, remember it, and say nothing but it!" Xue says staring icy daggers into Steven's eyes.
"Come on Ice Princess, we know it you. Drop the act." Cassie says walking up
"It is pretty obvious it's you." Jin says.
"I don't care if you guys figured it out! I don't want anyone else to!" Xue says angrily.
"Who's gonna figure it out, the 3 people from other realms who we will probably never meet again!" Jin says.
"Unlike you guys I know the importance of discretion and secrecy." Xue says annoyed.
"Hey we keep secrets, like us coming here. No one knows about that." Cassie says as Steven swallows a bit.
"Oh hey Xue, your parents finally let you dye your hair" Steven asks pointing to her bangs causing the ninja girl to blush under her mask.
"Is that another secret of yours?" Cassie asks with a smirk.
"...I'm outta here." Xue groans.
"Wait Xue, we didn't mean to make you mad. We just wanna hangout and talk." Steven pleads.
"I have meditation to do, I don't have time to fool around with you 3." Xue says coldly.
"We used to fool around together." Steven frowned.
"Sure go off and do your solo thing. I guess I'll show my pals here the cool thing I just found." Cassie says with a shrug and a smirk.
"What?" Xue says stopping but not turning around.
"A cool thing?!" Steven says excited.
"What's your game cage?" Jin asks suspiciously.
"No game, I'm being serious. Last night I explored a bit and found something amazing. I know where we are and it's gonna blow your minds." Cassie says, smirking.
Rain yelps as he shoots up awake in a bed. He looks around quickly seeing other cots set up and a small table with medical herbs and bandages. He then looked to his side and saw the sill unconscious Kobra laying in the cot beside him groaning. Rain figured out he was in the medical bay, he lost and was going to be sent home.
"ARGUS DAMMIT! I UNDERESTIMATED HER! HOW COULD I BE SUCH A FOOL?!" Rain yelled out slamming the cot.
"Her powers directly countered my own. She was more skilled than her appearance would tell. I should've done recon on the other fighters, I should've-!" Rain said until he noticed something.
There was no one else here, no doctors to watch over him or Kobra as they rested. It was silent, dead silent, too silent. Rain got up from the cot wincing as he held his side still a bit sore from the battle. He went to the door and tried opening it only to get a click, the door was locked. Rain's suspicions arose wondering why they would lock patients in a room with no nurses or doctors to watch over them. Rain raised a finger to the knob water dripping from it until multiple tendrils shot out and made their way into the knob. The tendril fiddled around with the mechanism until another click caught his ears and the door opened easily. He quickly examined the hall seeing it empty, he ran down it making sure his footsteps were light enough to not make too much noise. He hugged the shadows and checked every corner, making sure nothing caught him by surprise. He then came to a massive hall filled with extravagant looking pillars and suits of armor carrying swords. And it was there he saw Connie standing and talking to Khameleon.
"And get this our frosty little friend Absolute Zero, her real name is Xue Liang. As in the daughter of Kuai Liang Sub-Zero 2.0." Khameleon says with a smirk.
"And the Niece of Bi-Han the first Sub-Zero." Connie says with a sigh.
"You managed to grab quite a few big names for this get together. The daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, a relative to Kung Lao, Edenian Elites. There's not gonna be a chance that some people much older and stronger than us are gonna come down and wreck your shit is there?" Khameleon asked.
"Absolutely not. I used the most advanced cloaking spells to hide this place, not even Raiden himself will notice unless he's looking for us. Plus I made sure to have this whole thing happen in a place they would never think of looking." Connie explains.
"Whatever you say. Just so you know if things look to be falling apart I'm gonna bail on you. I like ya, just not that much." Khameleon says.
"Noted. What about Steven Universe?" Connie asks.
"Oh are you interested in him as well? I mean he is cute, looks really soft and cuddly if you hold him, and him in that tank top-WOOOO! I had my eyes on him, but I'm cool with sharing-." Khameleon says with a smirk.
"YOU-KNOW-WHAT-I-MEANT!" Connie hisses with a small blush on her face.
"I know-I know- caught ya blushing though. Don't have much for him seems pretty alright, and not the type to be here ya know."Khameleon says.
"Anything substantial?" Connie asks.
"Well he practices the Ukulele at night, very good at it. On the way to the arena he stopped to let a crab walk past him." Khameleon says.
"Nothing of note?" Connie asks.
"I don't know what to say. He's just a nice guy who can apparently fight. What's your interest in him anyway?" Khameleon asks.
"There's something about him… an energy that's intense but also calming and familiar. I need to know more about him." Connie says.
"Well you're about to during this next match. But tell ya what, if he manages to beat Batgirl tonight I'll be sure to give him a more thorough investigation." Khameleon says.
"Thanks, you can go now. I need to attend to the two losers." Connie says with a sigh.
"Ah ready to throw them in with the others. How long till you can get that thing open?" Khameleon asks.
"Not too long. The others were weak, but these two are much stronger. They will yield a greater gain when I take it from them." Connie says.
"If you say so boss. Though I am worried that Krypt of yours might be getting a little crowded." Khameleon says with a chuckle before vanishing and leaving Connie.
Connie lets out a sigh being alone now. She started to walk away until she finally felt something like a presence, but it wasn't Khameleon. Before Connie could react a sword appeared from behind and placed on her shoulder, the tip just near the corner of her eye.
"Rain your awake." Connie says.
"Awake and aware, very aware." Rain says having picked up a sword from one of the suits of armor.
"Are you now. Well you should probably head back to bed, my healing can only do so much." Connie says.
"I saw your Suarian Spy and heard your conversation. You're after something and using the participants in this tournament to get it." Rain accuses.
"Come now let's not make assumptions." Connie says with an uneasy smirk.
"You said I and Kobra will yield greater gain. What were you talking about? What are you taking from us?!" Rain asks pressing the blade against Connie's neck drawing a little blood.
"Rain, calm down I can explain-." Connie says with a wince.
"WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO STEAL FROM US?!" Rain yells wanting an answer.
Just then sound filled his ears, the sound of something cutting through the air. Instinctively Rain moves his head to the side letting a sword covered in green energy soar past him and Connie. As soon as the sword stabbed into one of the pillars, Connie turned around quickly grabbing Rain by the wrist and thrusting her palm to his face.
"I'm stealing your soul!" Connie says coldly as her hand is covered in the green energy.
Rain gags as he feels his very lifeforce start to be pulled from him and flow into Connie. Her eyes glowed green as it started to enter her, only for Rain to bat away her arm breaking the connection. He then sent a kick to her body forcing her back and away from him as he took deep breaths as if he had just come up for air.
"YOU WITCH!" Rain gasped.
"I prefer Sorceress." Connie says.
"Noted, I'm gonna cut you half now." Rain says raising his blade.
"You could do that…. Or!" Connie says as she raises her hand her energy surging a bit when a portal formed before her.
"You can walk away. I will go for the easiest solution, and that is just letting you go. Just walk through that portal and forget about this place, it's none of your concern." Connie tries to reason gesturing to the portal.
"Do you take me for a coward? That I would turn tail and run from the likes of you? What do you think I am?" Rain asks, pointing the blade at Connie.
"A proud fool." Connie says with narrowed eyes as the portal vanishes.
Once it vanished the sword flew in from behind it at Rain. He deflects the blade sending it twisting into the air. Just then Connie took to the air as well grabbing the sword and slashing down at rain only for the strike to be blocked. Connie backed up with the sword in hand twirling it like a master before taking her stance, Rain doing the same. The two circled each other blades at the ready, until Connie let out a battlecry charging her sword raised.
KLANG!
Their blades met both of them trying to push the other back as their blades scraped against each other. Rain twisted the blade knocking Connie back before then slashing at her chest. Connie is able to flip back avoiding the slash before coming back with a slash to the side. Rain blocks it with his blade before going for an overhead slash which Connie blocks, only to get a boot to the gut sending her to the ground. She lands on back with a grunt, but immediately rolls out of the way dodging a slice from Rain. She sweeps his leg making him falls as she gets up to her feet and attempts to stab his shoulder. Rain seeing the blade come down on him brings his hands together and suddenly transforms into water the blade sinking in but doing no damage. Connie gasps as the water slinks around her before reforming behind her, and with a SLASH Rain delivers a cut to Connie's back. She screams in pain narrowly dodging a deeper wound but still cutting the back of her tunic and drawing some blood.
Connie stumbles forward using the sword to stay up as she panted hard and Rain charges at her. Connie's sword is then engulfed in green energy once again, she then threw it like a dart at Rain. The purple ninja dodges it, but the flying sword hits the one in his hands knocking it out of his grasp. Rain looks behind as his blade clatters to the ground only to turn around to see Connie was upon him. She jabbed at his chest like a knife three times before throwing an uppercut that sent him crashing onto his back. Rain looks up seeing Connie has taken the Snake stance breathing hard as she glared at him. She then jumped in the air looking to stomp down on him only for Rain to roll out of the way as her feet cracked the pavement.
Rain got to his feet as Connie spun around with a backhand that he caught resulting in her throwing a kick to his lower leg. Rain grunts but then throws a series of blows at Connie which she parries and blocks. She then catches an open palm strike to her chest only for a water bubble to form in Rain's hand and then explodes sending Connie back. She skidded back shaking off the water with a gag, as she did Rain clapped his hands together and started to swirl them around. A massive water bubble formed in his hands which he threw at Connie. Connie couldn't react in time as the bubble hit her, but instead of exploding it engulfed her. Connie was now floating in a giant water bubble, flailing and holding her breath as it slowly floated towards Rain. Rain ran forward and jumped towards the bubble raising his leg over his head. With THWACK he brought his heel down on Connie's head popping the bubble and sending Connie face first into the ground. Connie tries to stand only for Rain to now descend upon her and connect.
WA-KRACK!
Rain brought his foot down on the side of Connie's head slamming it into the ground. Connie's skull fractured under the pressure between Rain's foot and the ground, her jaw twisting and teeth rattling. Connie screams as blood spurts from her head and she holds her head only to get a kick to the ribs sending her sliding into a pillar. Connie grunts wiping the blood from her head as she stands breathing hard as she reaches into her robe and pulls out a scroll. Green energy surrounds it as it floats out of her hands and unfurls before her floating by her side. Rain wastes no time shooting a stream of water at Connie, but brings her hands together before quickly moving them about as fire starts to spark from her fingers. She speaks in an indecipherable language before throwing her hands out and from them a flaming skull shoots out, a haunting sound that almost sounded like a scream came from it as it flew and connected with the water stream. The Skull exploded into chunks and the water evaporated forcing Rain to cover his eyes. As he did Connie rushed through the steam and smoke charging aat Rain with the scroll still at her side, Rain sees her coming and prepares to attack. But once again Connie speaks in the strange language and suddenly vanishes into Green smoke. Rain looked confused but only for a second as Connie reappeared behind hima and did a slide kick knocking Rain to the ground.
As Rain's back hits the ground Connie immediately comes upon him and starts throwing furious kicks and stomps down on him. Connie continues to do so until her ankle is grabbed by Rain, he then hooks an arm around her and flips her. Connie is sent face first onto the floor again picking herself up with heavy breaths. Rain was the first to get up and as soon as Connie was on her feet launched a roundhouse kick to her chest.
THWAM!
The kick connected with Connie's chest, her rib cage cracking from the impact which felt like a cannonball. Connie ended up coughing up blood as she was sent flying into the air, Rain smirked as she watched the witch soar not noticing her lips moving. Suddenly a green energy surrounds him and takes his vision, within a second he was now in the air where Connie was. Rain looked behind him and saw Connie was not behind him and still flying with the force of the kick. Connie then grabbed ahold of Rain's head as she flew past bringing him along and then slamming his head into the ground. A KRACK filled the air as his face met the ground, the front of his forehead and nose cracking from the forces. Rain screams as his face rebounds off the floor blood flying from his nose. Connie then grabs Rain by the shoulders holding him up before placing both feet on his chest and kicking off. Rain was sent flying through a set of sliding doors onto a balcony where he hit the stone railing leaning against it.
"I can tell you're still weakened from your fight with Zero. My healing magic can only do so much for you." Connie says walking forward.
"Heh, what feels bad for fighting a wounded opponent?" Rain asked, breathing hard.
"It's your fault for bringing this on yourself! I gave you a way out, but you had to be so freaking proud! Now there's no escape, you will join the others." Connie says standing in front of him.
"I'd rather die before I go anywhere with you." Rain says looking Connie dead in the eyes.
"Please tell me you're not about to jump. I really don't want to deal with that." Connie says annoyed.
Suddenly she feels something land on her cheek. It confuses her for a moment until it happens again on her arm, and then again, and again, and again. It was Raining, right on her but no one else. She looked up to see a small black cloud right over her rain pouring from it on top of her, but within the black puffs energy was building up in it.
"Wha-?" Connie says confused.
"Sorry messed up my words. I meant, I'd rather you die." Rain says raising his hand and before Connie could do anything he swung it down.
KRACK-A-BOOM!
Connie screams out in pain as the lightning bolt shoots down from the cloud right onto her. Her body jerked as the electricity coursed through her body, her skeleton showing a bit revealing the fracture in her skull. She threw her head back in pain as the lenses from her glasses exploded off her from the energy and her hair became bolt then ceased leaving Connie standing there her eyes rolled into her head, with smoke rising from her body and mouth, some burns across her body clothes, and her hair now frizzy and down her back. A wheeze escaped her open mouth as her body twitched.
WHAM!
Rain ran forward and delivered a diving kick to Connie's chest, sending her back into the building barely getting a reaction out of her aside from a pained wheeze. Connie slid across the ground spread eagle letting out a low gurgle as Rain stood over her.
"Rain Wins." Rain says smirking at Connie as he grabs his sword.
"Fatality." Rain says raising it over his head aimed at Connie
THUD!
Rain looked to the side and saw Kobra on the ground in front of him, the fighter letting out a confused "Wha" as he tried to stand. Rain looked at him confused until he felt something slide up his spine. He quickly turns around and swings his sword hitting nothing.
"Ooooooo are you all tough and scary? Sure you know how to use that thing?" Khameleon asks, appearing behind him with a smirk.
"THE SUARIAN?!" Rain yells preparing to swing his sword again.
Khameleon beats him to the punch pulling down her mask and blowing the green mist in his eyes. He screams, dropping the swords and rubbing his now burning eyes only to get a kick to the chest sending him back. He quickly gets to his feet and stares down Khameleon.
"Defending your master?" Rain asks.
"Defending my investment. I got a lot riding on her." Khameleon explains.
"You think a lowly lizard like you can take me?" Rain asks, taking a stance.
"WOW! Not very PC are ya? Heh, but no I'm not an up front kinda gal. Just needed to give my four eyes a pick me up." Khameleon says.
Before Rain could question her a scream filled the air, Kobra's scream. Rain looked past Khameleon and saw the electrocuted Connie atop of him. She greedily sucked away at his soul, him screaming trying to push her off, but his struggles getting weaker. As the green energy flowed from him into her her wounds started to heal rapidly returning her to her original state.
"Buh-bye!" Khameleon says with a wave before turning invisible
Rain is unable to do anything as Connie stands up fully healed and Kobra was alive but slightly drained and withered groaning. With her clothes still tattered and her hair undone she removed her broken glasses dropping them to the ground.
"Round 2." Connie says as her eyes glow green
Rain lets out a battle cry and charges at Connie who took her stance. The Edenian boy rushes in throwing a roundhouse kick only for Connie to catch it with a single hand. Rain's eyes widened as Connie's expression remained calm as he jumped back and went on the offensive. He throws a flurry of punches to Connie's head and body, only for the young sorceress to parry every hit. Despite the speed and ferocity of his attacks Connie barely moved her arms and didn't move her body. No matter where he punched Connie's hands were there to deflect it, it even got to the point where Connie was parrying him with one hand. Rain then goes to a low kick to Connie's leg only for Connie to raise her foot dodging it and then immediately bringing it down on his ankle. Rain winces as he feels his ankle twist under Connie's foot and he hastily throws a punch to her head only for her to catch it in her palm.
"I told you my healing magic can only do so much." Connie says as she twists his arm and wrists
CRACK!
In her hand Connie re-breaks Rain's hand, the fingers twist and blood spurt out. Rain screams again holding out his mangled hand only for Connie to kick him away sending him rolling across the floor. Rain screamed and grunted getting to his fours or rather threes with his mangled hand. Then from the ground a flaming skull erupted knocking Rain into the air and towards Connie and right to a punch to his chest. Connie grabbed him keeping him in place before throwing a series of snake-like precise strikes to his body. She then throws a palm to his chin throwing his head up before circling around him grabbing him by the back of his head and then throwing a strong punch to the back of his head.
Rain collapsed forward motionless as Connie stood over him. She took a moment to breath before flipping the defeated boy onto his back. He gasps and wheezes weakly before Connie puts a knee on his chest and gets close to his face. She grabs his head with both hands before sucking his soul. Like all the others he struggles but slowly stops as more of the green energy comes out of him and into Connie hsi body withering. Connie did this for a bit before stopping looking at the groaning Rain.
"Flawless Victory." Connie says standing up
"CONNIE I HEARD A COMMOTION WHAT'S GOING-oh!" Koran says running in and seeing the scene.
"I took care of it, don't worry." Connie says standing up.
"Oh man, look at this. I should've been here to help, look at your clothes, your glasses, your hair!" Koran says going over to Connie.
"It's fine I got spares in my room." Connie says.
"Do you want me to do up your hair again?" Koran asks.
"Yeah I would. But first bring these two down to the Krypt." Connie says.
"Can do! Still you're pretty tough taking him on all by yourself." Koran says as she picks up Kobra and Rain.
"I had some help." Connie says simply.
"Oh? OH! Khameleon! I knew she was warming up to us!" Koran says smiling as she carries the two away leaving Connie alone again.
"I-I don't know if you're here or if I'm talking to myself but…. Thank you." Connie says looking out into the room looking for any response and getting none deciding to leave.
"... Your welcome." Khameleon chuckles hanging of a pillar.
Koran walked through a darkened tunnel lit by torches calmly humming to herself as she carried the two boys. She then came up to a gilded door easily opening it with her two extra hands and entering the room. Before her was a massive Krypt and inside was EVERYONE! All the competitors who failed the preliminaries all laid out on cots lined up and unconscious. All had a piece of paper with chinese written on it stuck on their foreheads and their eyes were glossed over and white. Koran walked through the isles of children occasionally from one of them a small green orb would fly out of them and to the ceiling. Koran then came to two empty cots laying both Kobra and Rain on them. She then pulled out two of the same talismans and placed one on Rain's head before going for Kobra who suddenly snapped awake.
"Wha-what are you-?" kobra wheezes.
"Oh I'm a Shokan, but that's probably not what you were asking." Koran chuckles.
"Wh-?" Kobra stammers.
"Just relax, you won't feel a thing. I promise when you wake up this will all have been a bad dream." Koran says easily pulling off his arm and placing the Talisman on his forehead.
Kobra's body went limp and his eyes went white as he laid peacefully on the cot next to Rain. Then from both of them two small orbs floating up and towards the ceiling.
"Little by little we're getting there. But I bet those two would probably be a big boost. Once we have the others, we can finish this sooner and end it." Koran says as she exits the Krypt passing by 6 empty cots.
