"Kara... Kara!" Kara heard Alex trying to get her attention but she was stuck in a memory

"Kara!"

"What! Sorry just thinking" she replied

"I could tell all the smoke coming out of your head i thought you were gonna explode" Alex said jokingly

"Ha. Ha."

"Seriously though.. you okay? Need to talk with me about it?"

"No.. Im good" kara forced a smile "I am gonna go to bed though.. had a long day... fighting fort rozz prisoners and what not."

The conversation ended there; normally Alex would push and try to get her sister to talk to her but she knew this wasnt something she could push

This was a pain kara has lived with since she landed here

Whatever happened on her planet before she left mustve happened before she got into her pod recent enough that she was never able to come to terms with it

She knew it was her fault.. her brother gone because he saved her life

"Cmon khay" Kara laughed "I just wanna see what its like in the dead zone"

"Kara you know we arent supposed to come out here"

"Itll be fine.. you know dad said the beasts dont come close to the city, besides arent you the more adventurous out of the two of us?"

Khay rolled his eyes

"Yeah sure when there isnt the risk of being attacked by beasts taller than me"

She laughed at that khay was never one to cower in danger

Then he was right they shouldnt have been out there

When they reached the edge of the city they pushed forward but as they exited they couldnt see anything and Kara wanted to see it all so they walked a bit further out much to khays chagrin

They got attacked shortly after that

They couldnt make out any of the beasts features all they could see were the blood red glow of its eyes and the teeth as it snarled

But the beast didnt even look at him, the beast wanted Kara

Maybe because she was the first one of them that it saw but Khay couldnt let his sister get attacked so he called out for the beasts attention

Without a second thought the beast jumped at him the loud noise hurting its ears

Suddenly light flooded the area and kara saw the beast that had its teeth latched around her brothers arm

She could see the beast gnawing and yanking at his arm trying to tear it off blood everywhere

A horrible sight for a child

After the lights turned on shots were fired at the beasts head... it took 4 shots to take it down and even before that the beast managed to kill 2 people leaving Khay as soon as the first shot was fired

Their father walked out of the light and picked Khay up while Kara stood shocked at what all had happened tears flowing from her eyes

She had to be carried as well

It was all her fault.. she shouldnt have pushed Khay to go with her but she did
