Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Dancing Demons. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own ReZero, Tappei and a few others do.
Gaerwulf leapt back, a toothy grin splitting his fanged maw as he leapt forward towards Frederica.
The two had agreed to engage in another duel to the death. Not simply so they could trust each other more. No, this was for enjoyment, for the lust of combat itself which drove them both.
"Heh." Gaerwulf said while swinging a clawed arm at Frederica who leapt back and clenched her teeth. "Good, this is enjoyable. I rather like this. You learn about the other person the more you fight." Gaerwulf said while lumbering after Frederica.
He was far stronger than the werecat was. She far more limber and agile. Gaerwulf enjoyed how a small snap of his jaws would send her sprawling away from him. A swipe would send her scampering back, claws extended and looking for another vantage at him.
She lunged at the hulking werewolf who was sent staggering back under the weight of her charge. He swung his head away from her fanged teeth. He balanced himself on a hulking hand while using the other to pry her from his chest.
"Damn, not bad… Not bad." Gaerwulf said, hunching over to stare the Werecat in the eye. "Your good at fighting for someone who doesn't seem the warrior type. I'm guessing self-trained?" Gaerwulf asked while cracking his neck.
The smell of copper filled his nostrils. She had wounded him when she pounced onto his chest. Even if the strike wasn't fatal or as she intended to him? She still hurt him, it astounded him. It was something that made him more interested.
If her ability that had transformed her didn't shred their clothes? He'd call it a power without drawback.
He lunged at her again as she leapt back. Gaerwulf hummed and straightened up. There would be time for a good fight latter, one when they were not under a schedule to handle something. He sighed and straightened up slightly while looking at her.
"This can wait for a moment, yes?" Gaerwulf asked and got a nod of the head while humming. "Then it will wait, I will follow you… You've earned my respect more than anything… And I'm quite interested in who you serve. You're a very strong warrior, your master must be far stronger." Gaerwulf said while starting to transform back into his human form.
He sighed and frowned as he remembered Frederica was wearing the remains of his jacket and some makeshift cloth. It made their interactions far more awkward when it came down to it… But then again? They were shapeshifters, Gaerwulf had afforded far more pairs of clothing then he could remember. It was awkward, yes, but it was no less weird because of that.
Frederica started the transformation back into her human form as Gaerwulf respectfully reverted his eyes. He hummed and shook his head, wondering what was happening what was going to happen next.
"You enjoy battle quite a bit." Gaerwulf heard from Frederica. "Have you honestly never fought someone who put up such a fight?" Frederica asked while Gaerwulf turned to her and hummed with amusement.
"Many have tried, not many have put up enough fight to actually qualify for it…" Gaerwulf stated and brushed off his arms. "You're the first to put wounds on me… At least, lasting wounds which are worthy of a warrior. You tell me your just a maid, but you are far more then it." Gaerwulf said before remembering that he hadn't been wearing his jacket at the moment.
"We should make haste towards Lady Emilia's manor." Frederica put in which got a hum from Gaerwulf at the moment.
"Yes, lead on, battle maiden." Gaerwulf said and slowly followed after Frederica. "I should remind you I do want another fight sooner or later. That battle was… Unique and interesting." Gaerwulf stated at the moment while he cracked his neck.
"You want another battle with me?" Frederica asked, sighing as she knew she'd track mud inside. "I am not the strongest member of the lady's staff." Frederica stated and watched Gaerwulf let out a hum as he turned to look at the trees.
One thing she hated about her transformation? It always left her feet bare due to her claws shredding her boots.
"Anyone with powers similar to him who can fight such as you?" Gaerwulf asked while brushing a hand over his ribs. "Then yeah, I believe I do. I'm a traveling warrior, theres not many people in the lands who've actually gotten to stand toe to toe with me, Ms. Baumann. I'd rather like to see how that fight would go; I wouldn't mind losing to someone who's able to go toe to toe with me in a head on fight." Gaerwulf said before he turned his gaze to the stars.
Frederica blushed, almost everyone was interested in Lady Emilia. She was just seen as one of her servants. To have someone who was interested in a brawl with her? Well, she could honestly say the thought hadn't crossed her mind very often… If at all when it came down to it.
"What is your lady like?" Gaerwulf asked as he hummed and looked down at his clothing. "I would like not to turn up… Underdressed." Gaerwulf said while gesturing to himself in question.
Frederica shared a frown when it came down to it? Gaerwulf had a point. She could probably explain why she was showing less than the majority of her uniform… But it was going to be next to impossible to explain why Gaerwulf was dressed so awkwardly.
It made her hum and blush at the idea, but they'd have to visit someone to find adequate replacement. She turned to Gaerwulf who was trying to avert his eyes. He shook his head while looking at her with interest.
"Getting new clothes would be… A good idea." Gaerwulf said which scratching at the back of his neck. "And that would help before we manage to reach our destination…" Gaerwulf added as he tried to keep his gaze from the werecat.
"I shall procure some before returning." Gaerwulf heard from Frederica while he nodded.
"That would help them from getting the…" Gaerwulf said before taking a deep breath. "Best idea, it would help. I'll wait and go get another jacket when you return." Gaerwulf said while cracking his back at the moment.
He knew for a fact there would be much awkward moments down the road. However? This would probably top the list that he could make at the moment… Yes, it would probably be much harder to explain at the moment.
He could only wonder what the future would bring soon, but he could hope it was fun.
