Weiss closed the door to her room, but not before pushing the confused Bella in first. Fitting the girl through the door was another matter. Bella was as thin as her, but her wings increased her height by a third if folded. They had to be opened just the right amount so that they didn't chip the roof nor the walls. She did not want to explain that to her parents.
She quickly glanced where the girl had gone. Along the way to her room, Bella had a tendency to wander off to nearly every hallway they passed and then rushing back as she realized her mistake, she even apologized to her in the only way she knew how, and that was by kneeling as she did in the garden. It began to somewhat annoy Weiss, but she also began to feel like what she said to Bella might have been too harsh. Sure, she zapped me good, but now she's utterly terrified...
Although, at the moment Bella was looking at herself in the mirror, and likely for the first time at that. The curious look did support the argument.
Weiss also found Bella's appearance to be interesting. The unnaturally long hair and the wings were trademarks you'd have to search really hard to find among the population, which would make her stand out like a sore thumb in a crowd. Well, at least I don't have to worry about losing track of her.
Whilst looking towards Bella, her eyes drifted onto the brush on the nightstand. It was usually in her sister's hands, as styling her own hair on her own was nigh impossible. Then she looked back at Bella and then at the brush. But I can do it for someone else.
"Bella," she called the girl's attention, who turned towards her in less than a second.
She sat on top of her bed and signalled her to sit on the edge like she would a dog. She does remind me of one, and would probably pass off as a puppy if it weren't for the appearance.
Bella took a moment to think before walking to the side of the bed and sitting on it and carefully sliding her wing around the corner pillar of her bed.
Weiss reached for the brush just on the edge of the table while also ducking under the electrified wing in the way. With brush in hand, she took a portion of Bella's hair in-between her fingers. Her's is really soft. Weiss also had quite lengthy hair, but it was thin and not as soft when compared to Bella's. Her hair was fluffiest she'd ever came across, better yet touch.
There were clearly visible loose hairs in the blanket, which were bound to appear in the chaos that had ensued. This was partly why Weiss kept her own hair tied, it was low-maintenance and could be put back even on the field, not to mention that it kept hair from obstructing her vision.
She slid the brushes' tails in-between the hairs at the top and then began to gently bring it down.
Bella quietly sat on the side of her master's bed while listening to the sound of her hair being brushed. She could feel each individual string of hair being pulled and then released. It was a strange feeling to her, as were all the other senses she had experienced, but in no way was it uncomfortable. Even if it was, she would still force herself to endure it for her master.
Each moment she feared in the back of her mind of the disappointed eyes of her master. It was the thing she was the most scared of, not even the empty void could beat it.
But those thoughts didn't register in her active mind, which was slowly in the progress of shutting down. Her sleep cycle, if you could even call it that, was quite unnatural. It consisted of her sleeping, then sleeping, and once in a while being stirred awake by a passing bad dream. So it was no wonder her body was ready to fall back in line. She tried to resist the urge for the sake of her master, but the never-ending battle was in the end won by the need for sleep. And so, she fell over on her side and left the material world.
Weiss blinked a few times to register what was happening. In the place of Bella's hair was empty space as the girl had fallen over on the bed. Her wings had almost caught her if she had been any closer. And now Bella took over half of her bed for herself.
Well… it's not like I normally use more than a quarter.
She hopped off the bed and left the brush on the night-table as she walked to the washroom for a night shower, one that she should have taken over hours ago, but it mattered little to anyone else than her parents, who were both on their own business trips for the next few days.
After finishing, she put on her pyjamas and slipped under what little blanket she could pull for herself without waking the slumbering girl. It was hard to fall asleep when one wrong move could possibly fry her alive in the most extreme case, or at least cause burns of some degree. But sleep eventually won over her fear as her eyes finally closed for the night.
AN.
I can write at this pace for a while now (as long as I don't crash), as test week ended, but I'm quite unfrequent with updates. I'll write if I feel like it and school work can sometimes push the release of new chapters.
But I hope you're enjoying the story so far. I'm not that confident at writing characters, even if they're already existing ones. But I'll get better over time at least somewhat.
And I've updated the first two chapters now. There's a whole new section in the first and in the second a few errors are fixed now.
