Percy followed Jason to the front door of the house. It was probably a 30 minute drive from where they lived, and judging by the size of it, the owners were wealthy.
The drive way was filled, so Jason's truck was the one of many parked on the street.
"Who owns this place again?" Percy asked.
He'd been to plenty of parties before, he wasn't unpopular. But this place looked fancy fancy.
"Luke and Annabeth's", Jason said as they reached the front door of the house. "Piper said Luke has a really good job at Othrys".
"A really good job", Percy emphasized looking at the round arch they were standing under as Jason knocked on the bright white door.
Jason leaned against the stone as he took out his phone to text Piper they were here. "You better not sneak off with her and leave me here". Percy told him eyes narrowed. "You're my ride tonight"
Jason looked up from his phone and cracked one of his signature white smiles, "Me? I would never". There was a click from his phone turning off as he shoved it back in his pocket of his jeans and he stretched his back.
"Besides, I wanna take it slow"
Percy's head cocked from his response, "That's new".
"There's something different about her, I don't wanna screw this up", Jason replied. Then he smirked, "Besides. Life's not all about sex Percy", he said sincerely.
"Your right, because out of the two of us, I'm the one always bringing the girls home", Percy said sarcastically as he turned around to see the door open with Zoe holding it. They sat in awkward silence for a few seconds as Zoe just stared at the two of them lips pursed tight.
It actually took him a second to recognize her. She was fitted in a witches costume, dark mesh leggings that disappeared underneath a sleeveless black and grey dress. Finishing off with a witch hat sitting crooked on top pf her head.
Percy snapped his finger and pointed at her, "you caught the wrong end of that conversation". "We were walking about-"
Zoe put a hand up, "I don't care", she said as she stepped aside to let them in.
"Where's your guy's costume", a voice said from another room until the voice grew louder for Piper to enter. She had a blue and white dress with checkered patterns going down it, underneath a cherry red hood. Although she was splattered with blood from head to toe.
Percy saw Zoe disappear in the direction Piper had walked in before his attention went back to Piper.
"I was gonna wait to put in on here", Jason grinned as he cracked his neck for extra effect as he shifted. At least half shifted. Percy never really understood why some super naturals had two forms like Wolves and berserkers. He really hoped Jason didn't go all out to impress Piper, they didn't bring an extra set of clothes.
"Whew", Jason said rolling his shoulders, "I haven't changed in a hot minute". Percy looked at him, he had to admit that berserkers could look pretty intimidating. Jason's normally bright blue eyes were now a dark brown with large pupils dilating and shortening depending on what he was looking at in the room.
Massive fangs protruded from his mouth showing even through his lips, and his brow ridge had grown and narrowed to make him look perpetually angry.
"Oooo, I like it", Piper said, running her fingers a bit in his hair that was laying weird on his forehead.
"Your turn Percy", Piper told him.
"What?" he realized she was waiting for him to change, "Oh, uh" Percy reached in his back pocket and pulled out a Michael Myers mask that was sticking out. Percy was deadset on the idea that Halloween was the best movie of all time. When he was younger his DVD disk tray broke with the movie inside it so he watched it every night for years.
So naturally he became obsessed and had dressed up as him every year for Halloween.
Percy expected Piper to be disappointed but instead she seemed a bit happy, "Good, there's already a wolf walking around here anyways".
There was a bit of a pause before she went on, "Probably shouldn't be blocking the door anymore, I'll show you where everyone is at!" she said taking Jason's hand and beckoning Percy to follow. He slid the mask over his head and followed her.
They were a few people in the dining room with them as Percy left them behind to follow Piper and Jason to what seemed like the back of the house. They walked through a kitchen as Percy eyed some of the food that was layed out on a table and counter, a chocolate fountain begging to be touched. He would definitely have to come back for some of that.
"Everyone is either on the patio or in the pool room", Piper said pointing fingers to a darkish room that was lit up with several different colored lights and then to a screen door that was propped open by a large rock that led outside. "
A familiar hat caught his eyes as someone left one of the rooms Piper had been pointing at, a very pissed off Zoe was walking the opposite direction followed by a mass of blond curls.
He caught her eye and saw her jaw tighten as she pressed forward to the front of the house, her black hair swinging as she walked. The blonde one paused for a second to talk to Piper gestured a hand at Zoe who stormed through.
"Wade showed up", The girl said.
"I thought he was out of town", Piper said, here brows creased in frustration. "Even if he wasn't why was he invited!"
Annabeth let out a frustrated sigh, "I tried to talk to Luke about it but I really don't wanna get in a fight and ruin the party".
"Let me talk to him", Piper said, "I'll change his mind real quick". By the way she said it, Percy had a feeling she wasn't gonna try to charm him.
"I might take you up on that", Annabeth said walking backwards before turning and disappearing around the corner to find Zoe.
"Who's Wade?" Jason asked, taking the words right out of his mouth.
"Luke's older brother", she said, "and Zoe's ex".
Zoe was pacing in front of the living room, arms straight at her side and hands balled into fists. "I'm gonna kill him Annabeth".
"I didn't know he was gonna be here ok", Annabeth countered.
"I would hope so", Zoe said angrily, "Or else inviting me would've been a real bitch move".
"Don't be getting angry at me", Annabeth said firmly. "You think I like him anymore than you do? He's an asshole."
Zoe took a deep breath and let out a frustrated sigh. Her hat lay long forgotten somewhere in the room when she threw it. She slowly opened her shaky hands to reveal blood dripping from her claws and cuts on her palm already closing up.
"Zoe", she heard Annabeth's concerned voice say as she grabbed her hand, rubbing her thumb over Zoe's palm. Zoe's claws had already disappeared, all that was left was partially dried blood under her fingernails.
"The bastard had the audacity to wink at me" Zoe said as Annabeth let go of her hand and followed her to the bathroom so she could wash her hands. It wasn't a secret that Zoe had slight anger issues, it was one of the things that made it hard to be her friend. But seeing her ex just made her blood boil.
"You know after all these years I thought I'd be over it", she said turn on the sink faucet with her elbow to avoid staining it red.
Zoe winced as she put her hands under the water from the heat and turned it down a bit.
"I understand if you wanna go. I wouldn't wanna be here with him either".
The water coming off Zoe's hands was finally clear enough for her liking so she shut off the sink. "No, you've been planning this for a while. I'm not gonna storm out".
Annabeth watched Zoe dry her hands with the white towel neatly folded on the shower rack, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm not that much of a bitch".
Annabeth smiled at that, "You're a bad bitch", she told her as Zoe rolled her eyes but smiled none the less.
After a brief moment of silence Annabeth spoke up again, "It's ok, you know if your not over it. I mean he borderline raped you".
Although her body didn't show it, Zoe felt very tense. Talking about her feelings was never really her strong suit. "I wasn't raped".
"Did you want it"? she asked.
"It's not that I didn't want it, he just wouldn't stop pressuring me so I did it to shut him up". Zoe said.
Her and Wade had dated for three months her senior and then she was pressured into prom sex. Afterwards he broke up with her saying that "she wasn't even that good" and "He wasted three months for that". So now she hates men. Its a logical reason.
Just thinking about it made her feel weak and small, the complete opposite of the women she made herself out to be.
"If you didn't want it, then its rape", Annabeth said reaching out for her hand.
Zoe flinched at the sudden contact "I don't" she shrugged off her hand and took a deep breath, "I don't wanna talk about this anymore", Zoe told Annabeth, "Can we just get back to the party? Please?"
Annabeth looked at her for a moment longer, she could almost visibly see Zoe's emotional wall going back up again and sighed, "Yeah, Pipers probably worried about you anyways".
They found Piper in the pool room with Jason doing the stereotypical couple thing where Jason helps her form with the pool stick.
"Grossssss", Zoe said walking into the room.
Piper ignored that comment and broke away from Jason, "Hey! Are you ok?"
Zoe gave her a tight smile, "Yeah I'm fine". she said leaving it at that. Clearly eager to talk about something else for once.
Piper read her expression, and clearly didn't like how guarding she was being but decided not to push it. She could do that later.
Piper grabbed Zoe's hand and gave it a small squeeze, "Don't think just because I'm dropping it for now means you've escaped this conversation".
Zoe squeezed back and let go, "I would never".
After her little incident the party went by pretty smoothly, It seemed like Annabeth's conversation with Luke about his brother went pretty well. She hadn't seen the guy all night.
She was still in the pool room, talking with Annabeth, Piper, and Hazel as the boys played pool. She had long since zoned out of the conversation and only heard mumbles in her ears as she occasional looked at her phone or around the room.
From where she was standing she could see into the kitchen, and her eyes locked onto a man standing by the snacks table wearing a Michael Myers mask.
Percy.
He was talking with a pretty girl that she recognized as Katy who was wearing a semi revealing nurses outfit. One hand was moving as he talked as the other held a small plate that had a mountain of potato chips on them covered in chocolate sauce.
Zoe felt a pang of jealousy that she immediately extinguished. Why the hell did she feel jealous, she didn't like him at all. In fact she would be happy if she never saw him again, right?
Zoe heard someone calling her name and she shook her head and looked over at Piper who was stranding next to her. "Girl you got it bad".
"Got what?" Zoe asked, pretending like she didn't know what she was talking about.
Piper shook her head, "I already told Katy that she's wasting her time. He's clearly obsessed with you."
"He is not obsessed with me", Zoe said as she looked back at Percy and couldn't help but smile as she watched him struggle to fit a chip through the mouth hole of his mask.
"hmmm, maybe not obsessed but he definitely likes you."
Zoe looked away from Percy's direction, "There's just to much history".
"Always an excuse", Annabeth said. She was currently sitting in a chair next to Hazel looking at the same phone and she scrolled on it.
Zoe rolled her eyes before they narrowed at the two of them. "What are you guys doing", Zoe asked suspiciously.
"Looking at his Facebook", Hazel said innocently.
"Will you guys knock it off".
"Relax", Annabeth said, "There's not much here anyways, he's like you the only thing on his feed is stuff he's tagged in".
"Oh", Annabeth said her eyes widening a bit, "my god".
"No way", Hazel said grabbing Annabeth's phone to get a better look.
Piper peeked over from Jason's side and she melted, "Oh my god you guys are so cute".
Zoe's curiosity finally got the better of her and she walked over to look at the phone.
Annabeth had somehow gotten to Percy's Moms page and had scrolled down through the picture's to find a photo from 2011. Sometimes Zoe worried about her stalking ability's.
It showed a picture of Percy and Zoe that Sally had taken. They couldn't of been older than 11 or 12, and were standing on the sand at the beach. Percy's arm was around her shoulder as he grinned at the camera. Younger Zoe looked like she was trying her best to glare at him but there was still a small smile on her lips.
Looking at the picture made her heart ache, and she hated it.
"See", Zoe said pressing home button on the phone so she didn't have to look at it anymore. "Too much history".
Hazel took back the phone, "Aside from you looking adorable. Are you sure its not worth even trying to salvage a friendship with him?"
"I'll think about it", Zoe told her. And she really meant it. Leave it to Hazel to be the voice of reason in the group.
Suddenly there was movement from the doorway to her right, Luke's face popped into view. He pointed at Jason, "Jason right?"
Jason, who was in the middle of lining up a pool shot, head shot up at the mention of his name. His eyebrows narrowed, "Yeah"? he questioned.
Luke gave his signature California white smile, "We're having an arm wrestling contest to see who's the strongest monster here. Wades the reining champ. You in?"
That peeked Jason's interest, he looked to Piper as if to ask permission. She smiled and gave him a small nudge, "Go show em what your made of".
At the mention of his name a dark haired man appeared behind Luke. He had a similar appearance short cropped hair and bright blue eyes. Although he was several inches taller and a lot more muscular. He could give The Rock a run for his money.
Wade flashed the same smile as Luke and Zoe rolled her eyes and leaned over to Annabeth, "I'm gonna step outside for a bit", she whispered to her.
"You better not be going home", Annabeth said with a fake glare as Zoe started to walked off but Luke called out to her, "Hey if you see that Percy guy tell him he's invited too". He leaned back to say something to Wade but Zoe still heard it, "I've been meaning to talk to him anyways".
Zoe gave him a smile that carried the hate of a thousand nuns as she met both his and Wades eyes, "Sure thing!" she said walking past them enjoying the smile that wavered on there face.
As she walked through the house she subconsciously glanced over to where Percy had been standing. Instead of seeing him, one of the Stoll brothers, she could never tell the difference between the two, was in his place flirting with a very uninterested Katy.
Zoe immediately removed the thought of Percy from her mind. Ever since that ridiculous boy appeared back in her life it was all her friends talked about and for some reason every random train of thought she had somehow directed itself back to him.
She grabbed her silver parka off the coat stand and opened the front door stepping outside. She closed the door behind her, turning around just to freeze.
Percy was standing a few feet away sitting on the stone railing of the front porch. He had a phone up to his ears but his eyes were comically wide in shock from seeing her.
Zoe had enough of it, her hand came up just to drop effortlessly at her side. "Of course you'd be out here!" she yelled at him.
Percy's face went from shock to confusion as he starred at her like 'What the fuck are you talking about'.
"Hey mom can I call you back?", he asked the person on the phone.
Zoe forgot that he was talking to someone, and whoever was on the other line definitely heard her.
"Yes that was her", he told them.
"No I'm not gonna let you tal-" He was interrupted by the phone again.
"No its weird"
"I-", Percy let out a sigh of defeat. "I'll ask her ok? You happy".
"Love you too", he hung up the phone.
They sat in silence for a solid 10 seconds, neither of them brave enough to break it till Zoe couldn't take it anymore, "That Sally?" she asked him.
Percy nodded his legs weren't touching the ground from his spot on the balcony and were swinging back and forth like he was a child. His Michael Myers mask was sitting next to him as threw his phone in the air watching it flip before catching it again. She was glad to see that his ADHD hadn't gone anywhere.
"Yeah, uh", he scratched the back of his neck, a habit he had whenever he was nervous, "She saw the attack on the news, wanted my story on it".
Percy let out a small laugh, "She went nuts when I mentioned you".
Zoe cocked her head at him, "Really?" she asked him.
Percy looked at her like she was stupid, "What do you mean really? You were the daughter she never had" he laughed again, the tension between them slowly dissipating. "She wanted to kick my ass for the way we ended things".
Zoe smiled, the first real smile she had of the night. She hadn't thought about Sally in years, and she felt kind of guilty about it.
"Wait what is she doing here?"
"When I told her I was thinking about moving to Manhattan with Jason she said she'd come with. It all worked out because my stepdad Paul had to drive here for work every morning anyways."
"She remarried?" Zoe asked again. She was suddenly filled with so many questions.
Percy gave the same sarcastic smile that she had seen in the Facebook pic a few minutes ago, she hated the goosebumps it gave her, "Its been ten years Zoe. What did you expect?"
Zoe couldn't come up with an argument, "Shut up".
Percy shook his head as he laughed, peering at her through his dark hair that was just reaching his eyes.
"Your such a mommas boy", she told him crossing her arms and leaning against a column.
"I am not".
"Please, you left a girl who was obviously into you just standing there so you can come out here to answer a call from your mom".
Percy was about to argue but then stopped, he smirked at her. "Now how did you know I was talking to Katy?"
Zoe searched for a comeback, she really did, but nothing came to mind. She really hoped her face wasn't as red as it felt.
What was she 15? Why the hell was she blushing. She was 23 year old college graduate god damnit.
Zoe ran a hand through her hair and pulled her parka tight around her, "Doesn't matter. And it doesn't make me wrong".
Percy wanted to tease her more, but pushed the urge down. "Maybe your right", he shrugged. "But uh, she did want me to ask you to come see her the next weekend your free?"
"Both of us?" Zoe asked him.
"She wanted both of us" Percy admitted, "But I told her that you still kind of hate me"
"Finally something I can agree with you on", Zoe said with a smirk.
Percy hopped off the balcony he was sitting on to walk over to her, "I'll give you her number so you can get rid of me and get back to that silent brooding thing you had planned".
Zoe sent her famous glare at him that he grinned at as she handed him her phone to add a new contact.
It wasn't long before he handed her phone back.
Percy walked back over to his spot as he grabbed his mask and made his way to the door, "as much as I hate to say it, its nice to see you again Zoe".
He slipped the mask on and walked inside.
Zoe looked down at her phone and starred at the new contact in her phone and smiled, Percy had named it 'Percy's cool Mom'.
A new notification for a photo popped up at the top from Piper. With a puzzled look she opened it.
It was taken from one of the windows next to the front door. Showing Percy's troublemaker smile as he held her phone and Zoe's glare failing to hid her laugh as she looked up at him.
Its resemblance to the beach photo she had been shown on Facebook was uncanny.
I don't plan for this story to be very long. I might change this story's rating to M in the future, because I plan for Percy and Zoe's relationship to escalate pretty quickly. Next chapter will be more wolf stuff and probably Zoe and Sally.
I'll probably update my other story a few times before this one again, I'm like half way through the Antaeus fight right now. I'm just lazy to write.
Enjoy :)
