Chapter 3: Surprises
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm glad to see you guys are enjoying this story so far. In this one I included one of my favorite all time characters. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves on the outskirts of PYRAMID as from space a container flew in through the atmosphere and as it flew towards the school it smashed against the barrier and bounced off it into the desert just outside the school.
In the crater, we see a small canister that was beeping rapidly.
Meanwhile, inside the school, Cleo and Atem were walking through the halls with Akila, Brian and Starlee, but since it was their first day they had to wear their new school uniforms.
Both were wearing long-sleeved uniforms but Cleos was red and Atem's was blue.
"Whose bright idea was it to have school start so early?" Atem yawns.
"Saving the galaxy sounded awesome, but so far it's just school. So boring." Cleo yawns in agreement.
"Hey, it'll get better." Akila assures.
"It's just, we miss home so much." Cleo said.
"Not to mention we don't fit in here. I mean everything is so weird and I don't know anyone here." Atem admits.
"What about your roommate Ace? You two seem to be cool." Starlee said.
"Ace is alright but that's just one." Atem said.
"I'm sorry guys. We know you're going through a lot but we did a little research and we found that one thing that really helps with big life transitions is journaling. You know keeping a diary?" Akila suggests.
"That's why we helped develop these." Starlee said as two small flying camera devices flew out.
"It's a Bozwell." Brian said.
"Uh what?" Cleo asks.
"It's a self-powered, AG drone that can record audio and visual data to a crystalline matrix." Brian explains confusing them.
"Uh what?" Atem and Cleo said having no idea what he just said.
"It follows you around and records everything you do so you can keep a video diary." Starlee clarifies.
"Oh." They both said.
"Gotta lay off the big words Brian." Akila said nudging him.
Turning on the Bozwells they flew around before locking onto Atem and Cleo.
"Well, this is a thing." Cleo said weirded out.
"Uh hey there." Atem said not sure what to make of this.
"Well we gotta get to class, good luck." Akila said as they walked away leaving Atem and Cleo all alone.
"Well what have we got to lose?" Cleo asks as Atem shrugs.
"Uh hey Bozwell, so we're off to lunch. How hard can that be?" Atem asks.
"It's eating, hopefully that hasn't changed." Cleo said.
"Recording." Both Bozewells said.
In the cafeteria, Atem was in line looking at all the weird foods with a confused look.
"Uh." Atem said picking something up.
However, as he walked back he didn't notice some water on the ground and slipped causing his food to fly down and crash on someone.
"Hey!" Getting up we see Atem's food had landed on a black and orange duck creature,
Looking up Atem sees the duck walk towards him with a pissed-off look.
"You just messed with the wrong duck pal." He said about to let him have it when Ace steps in and stops him.
"Hey Duck take it easy on my roommate." Ace said.
"Duck?" Atem said tilting his head.
"That's Danger Duck to the likes of you. You better watch yourself if you know what's good for you." Danger Duck said walking away.
"Recorded." Bozewell said as he and Ace looked to it.
Nearby Cleo was examining what she thought was food but when she poked it with a fork a tentacle shot out and whacked it away.
Letting out a yelp, Cleo stabs at it but the tentacles knock her around. "I don't think this is food!" Cleo yells.
"Recorded." Bozewell said.
In the Science Lab, Atem and Cleo were looking at the beakers nervously.
"What do we do?" Cleo asks.
"I don't know what any of this stuff is." Atem said.
"Well those are your sample chemicals and that we have to test." A female voice said.
Looking up they saw a pink bunny with a black uniform similar to Ace's.
"You guys new or something?" She asks.
"Uh yeah I'm Cleo, this is my best friend Atem." Cleo said.
"Lexi Bunny. I'm your lab partner." She smiles.
"Wait are you related to Ace Bunny?" Atem asks.
"No he's just a friend, no relation." Lexi giggles.
"So Lexi what do we do with stuff like this?" Cleo asks pressing a button on a ray but as it glowed Atem poits it away from him and a beam shoots out freezing a girl's ponytail causing it to break into pieces.
As the girl turns Cleo and Atem pretended to be casual while Lexi just cringed.
"You guys really are new." Lexi said seeing she might have to do most of the work.
"Recorded." The Bozewells said causing Cleo and Atem to groan.
Finally in combat training, as Cleo was standing up front a girl with long purple hair pushed past her.
"Welcome to combat training, new kid. I'm Callie and I'm the best. At everything." She declares glaring at Cleo. "Watch me take on 6 Simulated Xerxes."
As the teacher handed her a blaster the class gasps as the simulated robots appeared in front of her.
Stepping out onto the field, a barrier came around Callie as the robots fired at her.
Dodging them with ease Callie took each one out with one shot causing everyone to mutter in awe.
"Your turn." Callie said handing the blaster to Cleo. "Try doing something you can handle. Like a one-legged squirrel."
"Give me 7 Xerxes." Cleo growls surprising everyone.
"You got it baby. Remember, kill or be killed." The teacher declares bringing up 7 Xerxes.
As the Xerxes rushed in Cleo charges in to meet them.
Dodging all their fire Cleo comes up behind them and fires a blast taking out 6 with one shot.
"Ha! 7 with one shot." Cleo smiles.
"That was incredible, but uh that was only 6." The teacher said.
"Huh?" Cleo turns to see the last Xerxes blast her causing a red light to buzz.
"Sorry sugarpie but you just died." The teacher said.
"Recorded." The Bozewell said.
Growling in anger Cleo aims the blaster at it and fires destroying it.
Nearby, Ace was standing behind Atem as he put on some boxing gloves and helmet.
"Uh Atem buddy I'm not sure you should do this." Ace said.
"Are you kidding? This might be the only class I know how to do. So which sucker is my opponent?" Atem said ready to fight.
"Uh Slam." Ace cringes.
"Ha! Bring him on! I'm gonna slam him into the ground." Atem said entering the boxing ring but when he did a large hairy purple beast leaped in and looked down at him.
As Slam grins Atem starts to get weak in the knees at the sight of his many MANY sharp teeth.
"Oh boy." Atem whimpers as the bell rings and almost immediately Slam punches him knocking Atem against the ropes.
"Oh I am gonna enjoy this." Danger Duck smiles.
"Poor guy." Lexi cringed.
"Come on Atem! Hang in there!" Ace calls out.
Saying some strange grumbling Slam moves in for another attack.
Moving in Atem jumps up and nails Slam right in the stomach.
Grinning Atem thought he had it when he sees Slam growl in anger.
Grabbing Atem by the head Slam pulls back his arm and throws a giant punch sending Atem flying out of the ring and crashing into the Bozwell.
Zooming out we see Brian, Akila, Cleo, Starlee and Atem were watching all the failures.
"Ooh that's gotta hurt." Starlee winced.
"You two totally killed my Bozwells." Brian said before bursting into tears.
"But Brian isn't it great that you managed to get all the data?" Akila asks
"Oh yeah, I love the fact that I can see the worst day of my life." Atem said pulling an ice pack off his face revealing Slam left a nasty bruise while Cleo fell to the ground embarrassed.
"We are never gonna live this down. Ugh this is like the worst birthday ever." Cleo groans.
"Birthday? It's your birthday?!" Akila said excited.
"Yes." Cleo groans.
"Oh my gosh! We have to throw you a party! This is just what you guys need and as your best friend I have to throw you a giant party!" Akila said quickly and excitedly.
"Oh no. I do not need you calling attention to me after the day I've had." Cleo said.
"Me neither. If anything I need some alone time." Atem said.
"Khensu said Atem and I need to keep a low profile and that means no party." Cleo said.
"But I—"
"No party." Cleo and Atem said.
"Say it." Cleo said.
"I'm not gonna throw you two a party." Akila mumbles.
Hearing this Atem and Cleo walk out and Akila takes out her pad.
"You're gonna throw them a party aren't you?" Starlee assumes.
"Already booked a band." Akila smiles.
"But they said they didn't want this." Brian said.
"We're their friends Brian and Khensu said they need to act like normal students. What's more normal teen than partying?" Akila asks. "Basically it's like Khensu is ordering me to throw Cleo a birthday party."
"Uh I'm not so sure." Starlee said.
"Come on Starlee, they need this. Trust me they will feel so much better." Akila assures.
"Oh fine I'll help but I'm gonna be grumpy about it." Brian said making a big gorilla like smile.
"Uh that's not grumpy." Starlee points.
Brian tries again and again but kept making weird faces.
"Sorry my facial expressions algorithm must have a few bugs in it." Brian said.
"Must be so hard being a robot." Akila smirks.
"I'm a cyborg! Do you know how offense that is?" Brian asks.
"Yeah uh huh. Starlee think I can get a cake in the shape of a sphinx?" Akila asks.
"Not if you want to afford the rest of the party." Starlee said as Brian makes a grumpy face. "There's that grumpy face."
In Khensu's office, the talking cat was working on a painting.
"Khensu!" Cleo and Atem call out causing him to slip and make a giant slash in the middle of his painting.
"It's fine, I've only been working on that for a week." He groans.
"Khensu, why did you enroll us here? This place is awful." Cleo said.
"We don't know anything about anything here, we don't fit in and the stuff we do know everyone does better." Atem lists.
"I understand it's frustrating and— whoa what happened to you?" Khensu said seeing the bruise on Atem's face.
"Hand to hand combat, which I used to be great at before I was brought here and a giant hairy beast knocked me around like a newbie." Atem said frustrated.
"Just calm down." Khensu said.
"Khensu do have any idea how hard it is for us? We just want to go home." Cleo said.
Frowning Khensu walks over. "Cleo, Atem, if there is any way to get you two home I swear we'll find it, but until then you're stuck here. Try and make the best of it. Make some connections, make some friends and try to have fun." Khensu said when Cleo reached out to scratch him. "Just give it time it'll get better. If you try and scratch my belly I guarantee you someone will be scratched." Khensu said claws ready.
"Okay no scratches." Cleo cringed.
"Just try and fit in. Meet people, or cats or aliens. Just make the effort." Khensu said.
"I guess we can try harder." Atem admits.
"And maybe we can make some adjustments to these uniforms." Cleo said.
"There you go." Khensu smiles.
"Thanks Khensu." Cleo and Atem said walking out.
Climbing up to his painting Khensu looks at it.
"Hmm I actually like it this way." He admits.
Later that night, Atem was walking down the hall in his new updated uniform. He had cut off the top part of his sleeves to make it a short sleeve shirt with detachable long sleeves, a hood attached to the back, a brown belt around his waist allowing him to clip his sword through it, and his Eye of Horus necklace was around his neck.
"Now this is much better." Atem said walking out to a clearing.
Sighing Atem looks up at the night sky and at all the stars.
"This is gonna be harder than I thought." Atem said when he noticed one bright object flying around in a crazy manner. "Huh? That is one weird shooting star."
As it zoomed in Atem's eyes widen to see it was a small green creature with little appendages and antenna.
"Whoo!" It yells flying in and smashing into Atem's face.
"AAAGH! Get it off! It's eating my face!" Atem screams trying to pull it off but pauses realizing nothing was happening. "Huh? You're not a face eater. You're a face hugger."
"Chookity." The creature said letting go.
"After the past few days I've had I need a hugger in my life." Atem smiles.
"Wow!" It smiles happily causing Atem to chuckle.
"What are you doing all the way out here by yourself little guy? Where's your family?" Atem asks.
"Chookity." It frowns softly.
"You're all alone huh? Me too. I'm Atem nice to meet you." Atem said.
"Chookity." It smiles.
"Hmm I guess I'm gonna need to give you a name." Atem said looking up at the moon and then to him. "How do you like the name Mooncake?"
"Wow." Mooncake smiles loving it causing Atem to hold him.
"Mooncake it is. Hey how is that my Universal translater doesn't work with you?" Atem asks.
"Chookity Pok." Mooncake said.
"I'll make it work." Atem shrugs bringing him inside.
Little did Atem know on the other side of campus a figure in a dark cloak and mask walks out to the capsule.
Pressing it, a small pod comes out of it.
As the figure picks it up it looks around as if it was expecting something else to show up but didn't see anything.
Taking it the figure walks through the barrier before opening the pod and dropping a green liquid into the ground causing it to dissolve.
As the figure walks away the pod grows becoming a strange plant creature.
The next morning, Akila was fast asleep when Cleo walks in wearing a now sleeveless uniform with gold bangles on her arms and a gold belt.
"Hey roomie." Cleo said waking Akila up.
"Ugh what's with your uniform?" Akila asks slowly yawning.
"You like? Atem and I decided to get a little creative. You like it?" Cleo asks as Akila climbs down.
"Wow you look great." Akila said.
"Khensu said we should try and fit in more so I thought I would put a personal touch into this." Cleo said walking to the door to see Brian and Starlee. "Hey guys, I was gonna grab Atem and see if anyone wants to join us for Combat training. You guys want to join?"
Pausing Starlee and Brian look to see Akila gesturing frantically to not spill anything.
"Uh yeah…I think we're free." Starlee said as Cleo looks to Akila and she immediately acts casual.
"Oh yeah we'll totally see you guys tonight." Akila said.
"Great. Well I'm off to meet some people, cats and aliens. Are you pumped? Because I am." Cleo said walking out and immediately they panic.
"She's gonna ask people to hang out tonight? You already gave everyone invites." Brian said.
"What if one of them spills the surprise?" Starlee asks.
"Don't worry I told everyone not to spoil it, they'll just say they're busy." Akila said.
"I hope this works." Starlee said.
"I am really worried about this Akila." Brian said as his face started glitching again.
"Brian that is not a worried expression." Starlee points.
"Still having trouble with my expressions. My facial parameters are inverted." Brian said covering his face.
"Starlee, translation?" Akila asks.
"He's having trouble making the right face for the situation." Starlee said as Brian removes his hands to reveal a shrunken face causing both girls to cringe.
"Is that as painful as it looks?" Akila asks.
"More." Brian squeaks.
Just outside the school, the plant was growing larger in size before it opened up revealing razor-sharp thorns as it let out a roar.
In Atem's room, he was holding Mooncake in his hands before opening a cabinet.
"Okay little guy for now, the less Khensu knows about you the better. And just between you and me he's not a big fan of pet treatment." Atem said whispering the last part. "You ready?"
"Chookity." Mooncake said as Atem closes the door but it wouldn't fully snap shut. Putting more pressure he pushes against but Mooncake's body wouldn't budge. "Chookity! Chookity! Chookity!"
"Okay this isn't gonna work." Atem said opening it.
Taking Mooncake out, Atem places him next to his pillow.
"Any chance you can pretend to be a lifeless stuffed creature. I've seen Akila and Brian have a few of those things." Atem asks.
"Chookity." Mooncake said moving around.
"Oh man how is Ace going to react when he sees you? Granted I don't know much about aliens or this school's policy on extra roommates." Atem said when he heard the door open.
Yelping Atem stuffs Mooncake into his backpack and puts it on.
"Atem?" Ace asks walking in.
"Oh hey Ace, what's up?" Atem said turning around only to see Slam behind Ace. "Aaah! Please don't hurt me! My bruises just healed!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa buddy take it easy. Slam wanted to apologize for yesterday. He's sorry for going overboard with the boxing match." Ace said as Atem slowly lowered his guard.
"You mean it?" Atem asks as Slam slowly walks up to him.
"Sorry." Slam apologizes before holding out his hand. "Friends?"
"Uh yeah…I could use some friends." Atem said slowly shaking his hand.
"Chookity." Mooncake said from inside his backpack.
"Uh what was that?" Ace asks.
"Uh I don't know." Atem said when his backpack shook.
"Atem, whatcha got in there?" Ace asks.
Sighing, Atem reaches around and pulls it forward.
"Well, I'm not sure. I sort of found him." Atem said opening the bag to reveal Mooncake.
"Chookity." Mooncake smiles.
"Whoa, what the heck is this thing?" Ace asks.
"You don't know what Mooncake is?" Atem asks.
"Mooncake?" Ace raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah I found him under the moony sky and he's soft like a cake." Atem said.
"Where exactly did you find him?" Ace asks.
"Outside the school, he just flew in from outer space and right into my face, literally." Atem said.
As Slam looks at Mooncake he smiles widely licking his lips.
"Uh Slam, you aren't thinking what I think you are?" Ace cringed.
Slobbering Slam leaped at Mooncake to try and eat him.
"CHOOKITY!" Mooncake panics when Atem grabs him and yanks him out of the way.
"Hey! No eating Mooncake!" Atem said pulling him out of the way.
"Mmm cake." Slam grins moving in.
"In retrospect, the name you picked doesn't help." Ace cringed.
"Yeah starting to see that now." Atem cringed.
"Chookity." Mooncake gulps hugging Atem close.
Meanwhile, with Cleo she was trying to talk to her classmates into joining her for combat training but was coming up short because none of them wanted to spill about the surprise party.
In the cafeteria, Cleo walks up to Callie's table.
"Hey there, Callie right?" Cleo asks but she didn't say anything. "So uh I was wondering if you wanted to get in some extra combat practice?"
"So you think I need extra combat practice because you're so awesome and you just come in and take out 6 Xerxes with one shot and show me up in front of the whole class? I am the best at this school and I will always be the best!" Callie snaps before storming off.
Soon Cleo had her head on the table as Akila, Starlee and Brian sat with her.
"Why does no one like me?" Cleo groans.
"I'm sure you're just imagining things." Akila said.
"I don't think so." Cleo slumps eating an apple.
"Come on Cleo, it's just in your head." Starlee said.
"By the way what's your favorite food? Tuzziwall, Prundel, Bladdic Pie?" Akila asks.
"Huh? Starlee, Brian I think your translator is broken." Cleo said.
"No, it's just it's not very good with food names." Starlee said.
"Ugh I am not imagining this! Everyone hates me and they're all acting totally weird! I just don't belong here." Cleo groans.
"Come on you don't here Atem complaining." Akila said.
"Speaking of where is he?" Brian asks when Lexi walks over.
"Hey Akila, have you seen Ace? He was supposed to meet me here." Lexi asks.
"Sorry I think he's with Atem." Akila said when they heard screaming.
Looking to the door, they see Atem running for his life with Mooncake in his arms and a very hungry-looking Slam right behind them.
"Run Atem Run!" Ace yells chasing after them.
Spinning like a tornado, Slam charges ahead and knocks Atem to the ground and knocks Mooncake out of his hands.
"Atem?! What's going on?!" Cleo panics.
"Oh no, Slam wants to eat that green thing Atem has." Brian gulps.
"Can't we stop him?" Cleo asks.
"Uh…" All four cringe realizing they don't know how.
As Mooncake looks up at the big thing ready to eat him he gulps in fear.
Groaning Atem looks up and his eyes widen before he tightens his fist.
Just as Slam was about to bite down a lunch tray was suddenly slammed on his head surprising everyone.
Turning around Slam sees Atem glaring at him before cracking his knuckles.
"Atem, slowly back away." Ace warns.
"You do not want to fight Slam when he's angry." Lexi gulps.
"Speak for yourself." Duck said getting his camera ready.
Atem growls as Slam pounds his fist together. "Alright big guy, you want to go for round 2?! Bring it on because I am not about to let you eat my little buddy!" Atem declares.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" The students chanted as they surrounded Atem and Slam like they were a ring.
Slam moves in throwing the first punch but Atem dodges and kicks Slam in the gut making him stagger back.
Shaking it off, Slam spins like a tornado and rams into Atem knocking him to the ground.
Groaning Atem looks to see Slam leap in with his hands cupped together.
Rolling out of the way Atem narrowly avoids getting crushed.
Using his old Medjay training, Atem moves in and punches Slam in the face making him stagger back, but Atem wasn't letting up.
"Whoa, where was this during class earlier?" Ace said impressed.
As Slam swats Atem onto a table he tumbles to the ground, but gets up.
"Chookity." Mooncake said in awe as Slam charged in.
Acting quick Atem sweeps his leg causing Slam to trip and smash into a table.
Moving in Atem punches Slam again and again before tackling him to the ground and pinning him.
"You try and eat Mooncake again I dare you." Atem growls.
Slam glares at Atem for a few seconds before laughing loudly. "Friend." Slam smiles picking Atem up.
"Uh what is happening?" Atem said as Danger Duck dropped his jaw in shock.
"No way." He said.
"Yes way, it appears Slam now really is his friend." Ace chuckles.
"Seriously?" Atem said.
Putting him down, Slam said his strange gibberish meaning since Atem held his own, he earned Slam's respect.
"Oh thanks man." Atem said when Mooncake flew in and hugged Atem's face. "Mooncake. You're okay." Atem smiles.
Almost instantly every girl in the room including Cleo, Starlee, Lexi and Akila squealed.
"That is the cutest thing I have ever seen!" Lexi smiles.
"I want to hug it and never let go!" Cleo smiles.
"Whoa Atem, looks like Mooncake has turned you into a chick magnet." Ace smirks.
"Wait wha?" Atem said looking to the little green guy hugging him.
"Hmph I'm way cuter than that thing." Danger Duck scoffs.
"Yeah in your dreams maybe." Ace said.
"So Atem who's your new friend?" Cleo asks walking over.
"Cleo, this is Mooncake. Mooncake this is my best friend Cleo." Atem introduced.
"Chookity Pok." Mooncake said.
"Uh what the? Why didn't I understand what he said?" Cleo asks.
"Strange this language isn't in my database." Brian said.
"Where did this little cutie come from?" Starlee asks.
"No idea, but he really loves hugs." Atem said.
"Wow." Mooncake said.
"Finally. I need a cuddle buddy." Cleo said hugging Mooncake and snuggling with him.
"Chookity." Mooncake said flying around them happily.
Suddenly a figure came racing in and knocked Cleo into Atem knocking them both to the ground.
"Hey watch where you're going." Atem groans as they look to see it was a teenage boy with dark skin and black hair.
"Whoa." Cleo said impressed.
"Don't rat me out about the hoverblades Snakehead, Hoodie. I don't need to be suspended again." He said before skating out.
"Hey it's not a snake! It's an Ibis!" Cleo said shaking her crown at him. "Huh? It actually does look like a snake."
"And Hoodie? I'll have you know only the best got to wear hoods." Atem said.
"Hey who took my apple?" Cleo asks when they noticed Skaterboy eating it.
"Yeah that's Zaid, I would not recommend trying to hang out with him." Starlee said.
"He always gets into trouble. Befriend him and he will drag you both down." Akila warns.
"This an Ibis right?" Cleo asks showing her crown.
"Uh huh. Speaking of whatever you just said what's your favorite juice? Grape, Zorkberry or Astrogy Branch?" Akila asks.
"Huh?" Both said.
"You know what I'll just do Astrogy." Akila said before grabbing Brian and Starlee and running off.
"Some friends." Cleo said.
"Guys I think we're making them feel worse." Brian said.
"I'm with Brian on this. Look at them." Starlee said gesturing to Atem holding out Mooncake for Cleo to sad cuddle with.
"Which is why they need this." Akila said.
"Hey uh you guys want to hang with us? We can help you prepare for class." Lexi asks walking over.
"You guys want to?" Cleo asks.
"Hey any friend of Atem is a friend of mine. Plus if you're as tough as him I see us getting along just fine." Ace said.
"Oh I am totally tough." Cleo grins.
Grumbling Slam holds up his hand and Cleo immediately high-fives it.
In class, Atem and Cleo were sitting down trying to figure out the test.
"Chookity?" Mooncake asks.
"Quiet Mooncake." Atem whispers.
From behind them, Zaid was looking at their answers when Cleo noticed.
"Oh you do not want to copy us." Cleo said.
"Yeah we stink." Atem said.
"Cleopatra, Atem no talking during the class." A cat teacher calls out.
"But he…" Cleo gestures before sighing. "Sorry."
"We'll be quiet Prof. Citraine." Atem sighs.
Looking at them Zaid smiles softly, they didn't rat him out to the teacher, but as his eyes wandered they stopped at Mooncake.
As the sun was setting, Cleo and Atem were walking with Ace, Lexi, Slam and Mooncake.
"Well at least you guys are better than nothing." Cleo said.
"By the way why did you want to come here to train?" Atem asks.
"Oh no reason." Ace smirks as Cleo opens the door and suddenly confetti shot out.
"SURPRISE!" Looking inside they saw the entire school was the party.
"Happy Birthday." Akila, Starlee and Brian said.
"You guys." Cleo smiles.
"You guys were in on this weren't you?" Atem asks looking to Ace.
"They asked us to keep you distracted while you set up." Ace smirks.
"Thanks man." Atem smiles.
"I don't believe it, everyone likes me." Cleo smiles when a small white robot-like walks up to her.
"I am sorry I was acting strangely earlier. Happy Birthday!" It said.
"Aw thanks E'Geke-Ek' Gek." Cleo smiles.
"I can't believe you guys did all this for Cleo." Atem said.
"Well this is also for you. We know you guys are struggling so we wanted to make Cleo's birthday a way to help you both feel better." Starlee said.
"Thanks Starlee." Atem said as Mooncake flew in.
"Chookity." Mooncake said hugging Starlee.
"Aw thanks Mooncake." Starlee giggles.
"I know you said no party but we felt you guys really needed this." Akila said.
"Thanks you guys." Cleo smiles.
"Looks like this place is getting better." Atem smiles.
"Yeah I guess it's not so bad." Cleo said.
As the party started, everyone was having a blast.
"I gotta admit this sure beats the parties back home." Atem said looking at the food.
As he reached out to grab a glass another hand beat him too it.
"Hands off my chow." Danger Duck said eating the whole snack.
"That guy does not like does he?" Atem asks.
"Don't mind Duck, he doesn't like anyone." Lexi said holding out her plate.
"Oh uh thanks." Atem said taking one.
"Mooncake seems to really like the food." Lexi points as Mooncake was being fed some food by Brian.
"That little guy is like a ball of sunshine." Atem smiles.
"I can't believe you actually took on Slam just to protect him. You got guts." Lexi said playfully punching his shoulder.
"Thanks." Atem said rubbing it.
As Cleo looks around at the party she noticed Zaid heading for the balcony.
Slowly reaching out she taps Atem's shoulder.
Looking over she gestures with her head to follow him.
"Hey uh we'll be right back." Cleo said as they walked out.
"Where are you guys—" Looking over they saw Cleo and Atem following Zaid.
"Ugh? Zaid. He'll drag you down with him!" Akila calls out.
On the balcony the two of them saw Zaid all by himself.
"What are you doing out here by yourself?" Atem asks getting his attention.
"Thanks for not snitching on me back in class. By the way neither of you got a single answer right." Zaid said.
"Yeah we're not very good at history. Recent history." Cleo admits.
"Sorry I was a jerk to you both. It's just uh…" Zaid pauses.
"Just what?" Atem asks.
"I miss my family." Zaid admits.
"Oh where are they?" Cleo asks.
"Gone. I'm an orphan." Zaid said causing Cleo and Atem to frown.
"Yeah…I guess we are too." Cleo said.
"It's hard isn't it?" Atem asks.
"So what? Everything's hard. Complaing doesn't do any good. You just gotta deal with it." Zaid said when suddenly they heard a loud roar from inside.
Not liking the sound of that they ran in to see the pod had grown into a large ferocious metal plant creature.
"What is that thing?" Cleo gasps.
"It's a Robotanacle!" Akila gasps.
"One of Octavian's. It must be after Cleo and Atem." Khensu said before flying in on his hoverpad ramming into the giant plant but it swatted him away with ease.
"Hey Slam, what do you say we show this Party Crasher the exit?" Ace suggests.
Growling in agreement, Slam spins quickly like a tornado before charging in ramming the Robotancale into the wall.
Grabbing it by the vines, Slam throws it to the ground before jumping up to deliver a body slam when at the last second the Robotanacle grabs Slam and throws him to the ground.
Scanning it, the Robotanacle looks around before scanning Cleo and Atem.
"Targets acquired." It said.
"Uh oh. Atem I think it likes us." Cleo gulps.
"Duck!" Atem said as it attacked them forcing them to dodge its swings.
Moving in Starlee and Akila grab a vine and attempt to pin it down only for it to grab them.
Acting quickly, Ace used his laser eyes to blast them free.
"This is not on the party itinerary." Akila groans.
Going on the attack Brian leaps in trying to swat away the vines but ends up getting tied up.
"Ugh boys." With glowing pink eyes Lexi fires beams from ears hitting the Robotanacle.
"Mind if I cut in?" Ace said joining in with his laser eyes causing the Robotanacle to scream in pain.
From its chest multiple green needles shoot out forcing both to leap out of the way.
Grabbing some serving trays, Atem and Cleo threw them at the giant plant hitting hit twice in the head making it shriek.
Yelping both dodge and weave to avoid getting hit.
"Hey back off!" Grabbing some plates, Zaid throws them at the Robotancle hitting in multiple times.
Looking to him the giant plant swings its vines at him causing Zaid to dodge but one swings in and grabs him.
Spinning Zaid around the Robotanacle lets go sending him crashing to the ground when Danger Duck leaps in.
"You call that moves? Watch a real hero." Danger Duck's eyes glow orange as he creates glowing orbs.
Leaping up he threw them at the Robotanacle but it swings its vines whacking Dnager Duck sending him crashing into the band.
"Wow, so heroic." Lexi rolls her eyes.
Grabbing his sword, Atem clicks the button causing the blade to grow.
Looking to the band Cleo leaps up and grabs a guitar before both leap in and start slashing the robo plant.
"Stop ruining my party!" Cleo yells.
Swinging its tentacles, the Robotanacle knocks Atem back before firing glowing green needles at Cleo.
Yelping Cleo ducks only for one to hit her tiara breaking it in half causing everyone to gasp.
"Oh no." Atem said.
"That was my mother's crown!" Cleo snaps charging in to attack but the Robotanacle swats her away sending her crashing into Atem.
"Chookity." Mooncake gasps seeing Atem and Cleo knocked to the ground.
As the Robotanacle moves in a serious expression appears on Mooncake's face as he flies in.
"Mooncake no!" Akila yells.
"He'll crush you!" Brian yells.
Roaring the Robotanacle was about to attack when Mooncake glows bright.
"Chookity!" Mooncake roars firing a giant green beam completely destroying it.
"Whoa Mooncake." Atem said in awe.
Dropping his jaw in shock Slam made a note to not try eating that thing again.
Making their way over to Zaid, Cleo and Atem help him up.
"You okay?" Atem asks.
"I'm sorry I stole your apple." Zaid groans.
"And I'm sorry I stole your hover blades." Cleo smirks revealing she was wearing them.
"That girl is something else." Zaid chuckles.
"I'll say." Atem smiles.
"So Atem, just between us guys are you two a thing?" Zaid asks surprising him.
"Wha?" Atem asks.
"Just asking." Zaid said.
"None of your business if we are." Atem said walking away.
Soon they were all cleaning up the damages when Khensu examined a logo.
"This was sent by Octavian to go after Cleopatra and Atem." Khensu said.
"But how did it get here?" Starlee asks.
"Only one way. We have a spy. Someone in the Academy is working for Octavian." Khensu said.
Gasping Cleo looks out in the crowd and sees Callie among them making her suspicious.
"Hey Cleo. We fixed your crown." Starlee said walking over.
"Thank you so much." Cleo said when she noticed Akila and Brian pushing a wrapped gift. "What's that?"
"Take a wild guess." Ace smirks.
"A present for me?" Cleo gasps.
"Yes it is, Brian and Starlee made it for you." Akila said as Cleo opens it to reveal some kind of sphinx-shaped bike.
"Oh my gosh I love it. Also what is it?" Cleo asks.
"It's an Anti Grav Bike and it's a Sphinx. It combines past and present." Brian explains.
"It fits in here, just like you and Atem." Akila said.
"Hey Atem, I gotta say you got moves back there. No wonder you were able to beat Slam." Lexi said nudging him.
Grumbling Slam smiles patting Atem on the back but it was so hard he fell to the ground.
"Thanks big guy I like you too." Atem groans when he noticed Danger Duck glaring at him. "Uh hey."
"Listen buster I don't know who you are, but let me make one thing clear. I'm the awesome hero of this school. You think you can show me up?" Danger Duck asks.
"I'm not trying to show anyone up." Atem said.
"Well guess what wannabe as of today, you are my rival. Brace yourself Atem because I am coming for you." Danger Duck vows before walking away.
"Uh should I be worried?" Atem asks.
"Nah, trust me you get used to it." Ace said helping him up.
"At At At." Mooncake said flying in.
"Mooncake that was beyond incredible." Atem said.
"Wow." Mooncake smiles.
"Atem, what is this creature?" Khensu asks.
"Oh uh Khensu, this is Mooncake." Atem said.
"How did such a small creature destroy this powerful enemy?" Khensu asks.
"I don't know, he just did it for the first time." Atem said before rubbing the back of his head. "So Khensu, any chance I can keep Mooncake?" Atem asks.
"I don't know what that thing is but I do know two things. One it's incredibly dangerous." Khensu causing Atem to cringe preparing for the worst. "And…it seems to be quite fond of you." Khensu smiles.
"So does this mean Mooncake can stay?" Atem asks.
"Yes, but you'll have to keep a close watch on him. I don't want Mooncake blowing up the entire school." Khensu said.
"I promise I won't." Atem said.
"Neither will I." Cleo adds.
"Chookity." Mooncake smiles hugging Atem's face.
"Come on Atem get on." Cleo said putting a helmet on.
Smiling Atem grabs a helmet and gets on with her.
"Be careful don't go tearing around on that thing or you'll—" Before Khensu could even finish Cleo revved the engine causing her and Atem to fly out.
"Best Birthday ever!" Cleo cheers.
"Whoo!" Atem smiles putting his hands in the air.
