Chapter 2: Great Responsibility
"Ight', its time to see if I got what it takes to join the big boys." Spidey says with confidence. "This exercise will gauge your efficiency against superior numbers. Disable all attackers. You have 60 seconds. FYI, Captain America did it in 10." Fury said over the comms. Spidey starts laughing. "You sound like a fan-boy, but don't start it yet." Spidey said, tapping on the spider label on his chest. Fury then says, "Kid, what are you doing?" Spidey then starts playing the song "Beatbox 2" by Spottemgottem from his suit label.
Fury then asks, "Are you seriously listening to music while fighting?" Spidey chuckles and says, "I do this all the time Nicky boy, now watch and learn." Spider-Man starts punching and dodging the robots as they charge at him. He is attacking and dodging on the beat of the song to make the fight more fun. Then all the robots pile up on him, then as the beat drops, he punches them all off of him. "That was more embarrassing than game night with auntie." Spidey then has a flashback of him and May playing video games and he lost. "Well too bad this isn't-", Spidey then punches a robot through its chest, "GAME NIGHT!" Spider-Man senses a tentacle coming from behind him and he dodges it. "I ain't come here to be on no "Superhero Hall of Shame!"
As he says that, the tentacles comes back and pick him up. After it picks him up, it starts electrocuting him. "GAAAGGGGHHHH!" He then grabs the tentacles, holds them up and shoves them down, causing the tentacles to come off and the robot to explode. Then four floating balls start racing towards him. Spidey grabs one of them and gets dragged along. "YAAAAA!" The ball then starts to turn from blue to red. "That ain't good." Ironically the song stops as the ball explodes a green slime which pushes him to a wall. He gets up and sees five more robots charging at him. "Let me at least put on another song…" Spidey then forms a web-net to catch two bomb-balls and throw them at some of the robots.
Nick Fury, watching on a different screen smirks. Then three other heroes start commenting. "I finished this thing in under 20 seconds." Said the one with a yellow mask. "I completed mine in under 18." Said the big guy wearing shades. "There's no discipline to his fighting technique. He's just thrashing around hitting things." Said the girl in a catlike suit. "But Fury says he's good for the team." Then another teenage hero runs up to say something. "Why is Fury testing a new candidate? I didn't approve this!" Said the hero with a yellow helmet on. "Look who thinks he's still in charge. That's so cute." Teased the catlike hero. "If Fury thinks I'm going to lead that lame-o in battle…" Says the complaining hero.
"In your dreams you're the team leader." Says the buff hero. "He is rough around the edges, but not without potential." Said the yellow mask hero. "Yeah, but he named himself "Spider-Man." How sad is that?" Said the white suited teenage girl. "What was he supposed to call himself?" Asked the shades wearing hero not understanding her. "Something cool that didn't scream, "Hi, I have low self-esteem and identify with bugs." Responded the teenage girl. "You know what they say about a book and its cover, dude." Said the yellow masked hero. "Dude, I'll clean this hellicarrier for a month if he makes it." The teenage girl says, believing Spidey won't make it. "Toilets too?" Then she says, "Toilets too."
She high fives all three of them as she made the bet. Meanwhile, Spidey is done with his training session and a hologram of Fury comes up behind him. "WOOOOOO! What else ya got Nicky boy?" Spider-Man asked in his cocky nature. "Lets see if you know how to make a parachute with you're webs. See you tomorrow." Fury says as the hologram goes away. "Why would I make a parachute?" As Spidey says this, he falls through the floor. "AHHH, WHAT THE HECK BRUH!" Spider-Man screams as he continues to fall down. "Alright, I'm done screaming. Time to make a parachute." Spidey says as he forms a parachute with his webs. "I'm most definitely not gettin' on that "Wall of Shame" bro."
Somewhere in the city…
"You have the surveillance images taken last night on "Target S." Osborn said as he gets out his car. "I'm sending them through now Mr. Osborn." The octopus-like villain said. "I won't have Fury getting his hooks into my prize. Spider-Man will be owned by Oscorp, not S.H.I.E.L.D. Tell your agents to find him. He's probably right under your nose." Norman says as Spider-Man is still in the air floating past him. "Oh my gosh, I gotta PEEEEEEEE!" Spidey says as he's about to land. 30 minutes later, Khalil is at the hospital to visit Harry. "Waddup Harry. Gotcha somethin' from school." Harry turns and sees his friend. "Cheerleaders?" He asked, but instead.. "Homework." Khalil puts two books in front of him.

"Harry really did somethin' yesterday when the Frightful Four attacked our school. But when he tried to help, he won a overnight hospital stay."

"Khalil has your best interests at heart, son. He's a true friend." Norman Osborn said.

"How about a ride to school, Khalil?" Norman asked "I'd appreciate that, sir." Khalil fist bumps Harry and leaves the room. At Midtown High, his other best friend sneaks up on him. "Smile Spider-Man." Said MJ. Khalil is startled and falls on the ground. "Wow, nervous much? I'm practicing what I'll say when I finally meet Spider-Man. Here." MJ hands Khalil a note. "You really think Spidey hangs here at Midtown?" Khalil said, trying to keep his identity safe. "He's been seen on campus often enough. He could be anybody. A student, a teacher, or…" MJ and Khalil turn around to see the old janitor walking down the hall, pretending to be Spider-Man. "Well, maybe not anybody."

"I know this means a lot to MJ getting that reporter job, and I'd love to help. But I ain't bout' to blow my identity when I start talkin'. She knows me too well."

"If Spidey even did go to this school, he's gonna keep it on the down-low. Ain't know way he'd let anyone know who he was." Khalil says, still trying to keep a low-profile. "Maybe, but I'm not giving up." MJ says with confidence. 1 hour later, Khalil is in his Spidey suit on the S.H.I.E.L.D. hellicarrier. Two agents walk past him. "Sup y'all? What's good?" Spidey says as more agents past by. Nick Fury then looks at him with a confused look. "You know I gotta blend in since I'm now an agent." Spidey says with a smile behind his mask. "An agent? You're barely a newbie." Nick Fury said. "How can you barely be a newbie? That doesn't make sense…"
Spider-Man says as he stops behind Nick Fury. Fury then does an eye scan to open the door. "Get in here and don't touch anything." Fury says as he walks to one of the doctors. "WOAH!" Spidey exclaims as he sees a giant robot. He then sees an agent gliding with web wings. "Now that's cool!" Then Spidey sees an android with four spider legs climbing a wall. "Already seen it." Spidey says not impressed. "Yo, doc. Meet the new kid. Spider-Man, our resident tech genius. Dr. Curt Connors." Nick introduces. "Its cool to meet another genius." Spidey tries to shake his hand but he only saw one arm. "Oh dang…" Spidey says uncomfortably. Connors pulls his arm out of his sleeve and shakes his hand. "A pleasure. I followed your career closely. Very impressive." The doctor says excitedly.

"Even before Director Fury approached you about joining us, I had my R team develop an array of Spider-Man inspired weaponry." Connors says pointing his finger to the weapons. "And if I said no?" Spidey asks. "Not an option." Nick says straight forward. "Huh, that's funny. You're using our web shooter out of camo mode." Connors comes up to Spidey and puts it in camo mode. "Oh, I actually had it in camo mode. But then I couldn't find it." Spidey says with a laugh. Fury and Connors just stare at him.
"Seriously? Nobody laughed at that? I'm starting to regret coming here…" Spider-Man says with a bored look on his face. "Over here is something we think you'll find particularly interesting." Connors says as he walks to what looks like a covered vehicle. "Alright, lets see what this is." Spidey tries to take off the red tarp covering this object, but gets hit in the hand. "OW! WHAT THE-!?" He turns ready to punch the person who hit him, but sees a agent and stops himself.
"If you ever do that again, you will not like tomorrow." Spidey threatens. "Director Fury, I've never questioned your choices when it came to the others." The agent states. "Wait, others?" Spidey asks confused. The agent then continues. "But in this case we're dealing with a complete wildcard. Daily Bugle Communications calls Spider-Man a threat to public safety." The agent says unsure with Fury's decision. "You do know that Three-J just doesn't like me right? And besides, I'm like a cuddly teddy bear." Spidey says as he rubs on side of his face with both hands.
"Spider-Man's my responsibility, Coulson. That's what he's here for. To learn responsibility." Fury says as he gives Coulson a serious look. "We'll see." Coulson says as he walks away. "I don't like that dude. But ANYWAY." Spidey says as he removes the red tarp and it reveals to be a motorcycle. He then starts talking to you. "I know y'all can't see behind my mask, but I'm lookin' at this thing like its completely useless." Spidey admits. "We call it the Spider-Cycle." Connors says as he expects a big reaction. "I don't even need this." Spidey says. "Excuse me?" Connors says with a confused look." Don't think this thing is bad. The cycle is raw, but I can web-sling anywhere. What's the point in a motorcycle?"
Connors then answers his question. "I calculate you can make it from 80th to 34th street in 3.7 minutes, while having maximum muscle stress." Connors explains. "Shut up…" Spidey starts rubbing his arms. "The Spider-Cycle can make it in a minute-and-a-half. If you're not scared thwip-less to climb on." Fury teases. "I'm gonna pretend that you ain't just say "thwip-less" bruh." Spider-Man says embarrassed for Fury. He jumps on the motorcycle. "So I'm guessing this button is the starter." Spidey presses the middle button on the Spider-Cycle then blasts away. "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Spidey dashes away while dodging agents on the cycle. He then sees a dead end, but decides to keep going. He blows a hole out the hellicarrier. "I STILL GOIN' MY BOYS!" He jumps out the hole and gets a call from Fury.
"Kid." Spidey hears him but doesn't know where. "Down here." Fury says on the hologram from the motorcycle. "Wassup Nick? I'm havin' a lot of fun on this thing." Nick rolls his only eye. "That button with the web icon. Punch it, and hold it tight." Spidey does what Fury says. Webs come out from the back and front of Spider-Cycle. "That's the web track feature. Internal GPS targets the best place to shoot it." Then Spidey says, "Well I'm runnin' outta room, so what else I gotta do?" Spider-Man asks. "Hit the thrust button." Fury says. Spidey presses the button and starts to ride on the side of buildings. "THIS IS AWESOME! HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE!?" Spidey yells. "I've engineered the bike to ride smoothly at any angle. Try it again." Connors told him.
Spidey presses the button again then starts to ride down the walls to the road. "Kid, what's wrong with you? You act like you've never driven before." Fury says expecting him to drive properly. "I ain't got no learner's permit, bro." Spidey admits. "You what?" Fury says expecting him to know how to drive. "Don't nobody need a car in New York." Spidey tells him. Spider-Man then drives into a construction site. "ALRIGHT NOW HOW DO I STOP THIS STUPID BIKE!?" A yellow helmet wearing hero then flies down and grabs Spidey. Another hero then picks up the truck the cycle was going to crash into, while a white suit wearing teenage girl starts riding the cycle. "Aye man, get yo hands off me!" Spidey says to the other hero.
"Calm down, preschool. We'll take it from here." The other hero says. The girl then turns the bike around when a yellow masked teenage hero stops the cycle from the front. Spidey is then on the ground with the other teenagers. "I appreciate y'all with the bike thing, but do ya' mind tellin' me who you are?" Spider-Man asks. "Iron Fist, namaste." Says the yellow masked hero. "I'm a kung fu master with a fist of well… Iron." He says with a smile. "White Tiger. Acrobatic ninja with steel claws and cat powers." Says the teenage girl hero. "The big guy here is Luke-", "Power Man. If he calls himself Spider-Man then I'm calling myself Power Man. It's cool and doesn't scream "I have low self-esteem." Super strength and bullet proof skin." The buff teenager says.
"Okay, Power Man." White Tiger says getting used to his new name. "I already met Bucket-Head right there. Able to carry two buckets of water in a single bound!" Spider-Man starts laughing. Power Man and Iron Fist try to cover their laughs. "Names Nova creep." The yellow helmet teen says. "Nova Creep. That's even worse!" Spidey continues laughing. "Nova, The Human Rocket." Nova corrected. "Yeah whatever, well I gotta get back to S.H.I.E.L.D. to put the bike back. I know, its pretty cool." Spidey says with a smile. "Small world." Power Man says while smiling. Then the other teens start smiling. "Oh my god." Spidey says.
Back at the hellicarrier, "No, no, no, no, no! I ain't never say I was gonna be on a team!" Spider-Man complains. "It's not a team, it's a program. If you'll just let me explain." Coulson tries to explain. "No! Nix! Nein! Nyet! Na-uh! No way! NEVER!" Spidey walks out after. "I win the bet. No toilets for the Tiger!" White Tiger says happily. Spidey presses the elevator button to go down. The door opens and he sees Fury. "I'm not even gonna wait for the next." Spidey gets in the elevator. "So, you're leaving." Fury says. "Yeah. I should've never even thought about coming here." Spider-Man says as he leaves the elevator. "Spider-Man." Spidey turns around. "What?" Spider-Man says a little irritated.
"Each one of those heroes is just like you. At a crossroads. They could use guidance from a kid whose been at this a while." Nick Fury tells him. "Nick, they seem like cool people, why do you think I'm saying no? I ain't bout' to be responsible for what happens to rookies." Spider-Man says ready to leave. "I know you feel responsible for what happened to your Uncle Ben. But at some point, your allowed to forgive yourself and start over. I wouldn't have made this offer if I didn't see potential in you, and all four of them, to be the next great heroes. The next Avengers. Those kids have the training, and you have the real world experience. They're willing to give you a chance. Will you give them a chance?"
Spider-Man takes off the web shooter and tosses it back to Fury. "I ain't takin' no chances." Spidey then leaves the hellicarrier. 15 minutes later, Spidey appears on the side of a building, moping a little bit.
Angel and Devil Talk Starts
Devil Spidey appears on his left shoulder. "Oh let them go. Fury tried to sandbag you with those losers." Angel Spidey appears on his right shoulder. "Think what you could have taught them." Devil Spidey raspberries at Angel Spidey, then they both start fighting.

Spider-Man's spidey-sense goes off in his head. "Oh what now?" Spidey says while looking around not seeing anything. But a certain someone sound blasts him off the roof. Thundra then comes and holds him down with her foot. "Stay down bug." Thundra says to him. "Thundra and Klaw?" Spidey questions. "And The Wizard. Round two Spider-Man. You lose." Wizard says with a sinister smile. "I trashed all three of you in front of high school kids… Do you really want me to embarrass you in front of an entire city?" Spider-Man asks teasingly. "You've overestimated you're chances. Even though we lack a fourth member. There are still three of us. While you, Spider-Man, are ever the loner." Wizard says as he puts a gravity device on his chest.
Spider-Man starts floating when Thundra throws him into a wall with a chain. "OW! YOU DON'T GOTTA BE SO HARDCORE!" Spidey complains. He then gets thrown to the ground with Wizard still levitating him. "Alright Baby-Kong, you asked for this." Spider-Man referring to Thundra tries to shoot webs at her but the webs also starts floating. "…..of course." Spidey realizes that was going to happen. Klaw then starts blasting him with sound. "AGGGGGGHHHHH!" Then Wizard says, "My turn." He starts blasting Spidey with a purple beam, making Spider-Man scream in pain. "He's out." Klaw says as he stops blasting. Wizard floats over to him to make sure he is knocked out. "Good. Less trouble for us to bring him back to our client." Wizard says. "BOO!" Spidey yells as he makes Wizard flinch and kicks him into another building. "So, you losers were hired. Mind telling me who ya' client is?"
"I preferred him unconscious." Thundra says as she runs over a water tower and tries to slam the lid on Spidey. But another hero kicks it away. White Tiger starts sliding down a building and lands on a floating Spider-Man. "What is y'all doin' here? They was runnin' in fear." Spidey says. "Yeah, sure they were." Tiger says as she cuts the device off Spidey with her claws. Klaw tries sound blasting them, but they move just in time. "You dropped this." Power Man sayys as he tries hitting Thundra with the lid. Thundra catches it and tosses him into the water tower, pouring all the water out, which hits Thundra off the cliff. Spider-Man then jumps off the cliff to catch her.
"TALLY HOOOO!" Spidey yells as he webs Thundra to a building, while webbing the lid that almost fell on the citizens. "You miserable little-" Spidey covers Thundra's mouth with a web. "Watch your mouth young lady! Kids are reading this." Spidey says playfully. While Power Man and Wizard are fighting. Wizard puts a gravity device on Power Man's back and lifts him over the road. "You better not!" Power Man says with a little fear. Nova flies near and blasts the device off while Spidey catches Power Man in midair. White Tiger is fighting Klaw while dodging his attacks.
"You're supposed to be tough Klaw. I think you're just a lot of noise." Tiger says as she jumps on his back. Klaw backhands her off of him making her fall near the road. Spidey catches her. "I was gonna save myself!" Tiger says throwing a punch at Spidey, but he dodges. "Yeah, sure you were." Spidey teases. They both land with the other three heroes. "I want y'all to look down there real quick." They do what Spidey says but they are confused. "Need I remind y'all that they can't protect themselves? Go keep the citizens safe. I got these punks." White Tiger then says, "You heard the man." This catches Spidey off guard. "The man? I'm startin' to like her." Spidey says as he starts web slinging to Klaw.
"Ayo, you overgrown megaphone! Over here!" Spidey then senses Wizard come up as he throws several gravity devices at Spider-Man. He catches them in a web and throws them at Klaw. They bounce off of Klaw and then hit Wizard in the face. Klaw sound blasts a billboard off of the roof, to get away from Spidey, but Nova comes in and destroys the billboard with his speed. Klaw then sound blasts Spidey off the roof. "You're next." Klaw says referring to Iron Fist. "Now the scream of chaos shall meet the soul of iron." Iron Fist says wisely. He jumps to the roof over to Klaw.
Klaw shoots a sound blasts at him, but Iron Fist clashes with his glowing fist of iron, making a huge explosion. Klaw starts falling when Spidey webs him by the legs making him hang upside-down. Spidey lands next to Power Man, Nova, and White Tiger. "Let's cut the volume." Power Man grabs Klaw and knocks him out. Wizard comes behind and blasts the three heroes while Spidey is standing on a light pole. "You won't escape again. My gloves are charged to their maxi-" Spidey webs both gloves and crosses them together, making them overload and explode. "Villains really don't know when to stop talking." Spidey says.
Meanwhile, "Vandalism struck Midtown today as Spider-Man destroyed a Bugletron Billboard, then went on to lead a group off unnamed vigilantes in a heated battle with the equally Frightful Four." Jameson says as Octavius turns off the news. "You're agents failed Octavius. I won't tolerate another disappointment." Norman says. "Understood, Mr. Osborn."
At the S.H.I.E.L.D. hellicarrier, Spidey puts back on the web shooter. "Ight' Nicky boy. I'll join ya' little never ending party. But I'm still a solo dolo. That's my version of "me time." Spidey says with a smile. Then Nick says, "Done." They both shake hands. At Midtown High, Khalil gets back to his normal life. "Finally. Both school and Spidey life are back to normal." He then hears a certain person trying to attack him. "I'm back Khalil! Now I'm really bringing you down!" Flash starts running towards Khalil. Khalil just rolls his eyes and trips Flash into his still open locker. "Ow." Flash says.
"Hehe, loser." Khalil then turns around to see four random teens behind him. "AHHHH!" Khalil yells. The foreign looking student was about to talk but got interrupted. "Can I help y'all?! Why are you behind me?!" The other teens start talking. "Say hello to your new classmates. Danny Rand." The foreign teen says. "Luke Cage." Says the big African-American. He elbows the other teen. "Sam Alexander." Says the shorter teen. "Ava Ayala. Think about it." The Latina teen girl says. "Listen baby, if you knew me, you'd know I don't like thin- wait a minute…" Spidey then realizes that they are the other teenage heroes. "You gotta be kidding me.." Spidey facepalms.
"Oh, some idiot gave Fury the bright idea we needed "me time" away from S.H.I.E.L.D." Sam says making fun of him. "FYI, don't sweat the secret I.D. Code of silence, man." Luke said as he starts to smile. Khalil then growls in anger as he expected something like this to happen. He then calms down. "You know what, its fine. I know exactly what to do." Khalil walks over to the principal's office. "Fury said he was gonna try this." Ava says.
At the office, Khalil starts talking to the "principal". "I need a transfer right now." Then the "principal" says, "Denied Mr. Spears." Khalil then gets a little angry. "But why?" Khalil asks. "Because Fury wants you where he can keep his eye on you." The principal now turns out to be… "COULSON?!" Khalil exclaims. "Acting Principal Coulson." Coulson says with a smile. Khalil then leaves the office. "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NOOOO!" Khalil yells. "Hello? Can somebody let me out? Please. Anyone." Flash says from the locker. Khalil then comes to the locker.
