Once they were seated at the bar with a beer, Jack thanked Bobby for getting him out of there. He needed the break.

"You have not been on your A-game of late, mate. Want to talk about it?"

"It's just I wish my mom would stop pushing Ally on me. I've told her before that ending up with Ally would never happen and still she persists."

"Yeah. Great. But your mum hasn't been doing that for the past few weeks, just today…"

"Oh, you don't know what you're saying, Bobby. She's been doing it for years."

"Yeah, but that's on and off, she hasn't been matchmaking for these past few weeks, only tonight. Something else is up with you."

"Want to know what else is up? Just now Ally tells me she maybe would have liked to try again! What is up with that? I have no interest in her in that way anymore!"

"I know, I think she knows now too, but I think that it's not Ally that's troubling you either. You've been tense at work as well."

"I've been getting my cases solved, so it can't be that bad."

"Right, the cases are going as well as ever, that is true."

"That's what counts, getting the job done, right?"

"Sure, if it doesn't make you miserable."

"Miserable? I love my job at the FBI. If I didn't I could've gone and done something else and made my life far less complicated."

"Right, you mean less complicated as in working somewhere else so you and Sue can be together?"

"What? How did Sue get into this conversation?"

"Alright, mate, I'll just spell it out for you, shall I? You are head over heels for her… don't protest and let me finish. Remember a while back when I talked about the dilemma of choosing between the job with the great life I already had and a girl? I saw my dilemma reflected in you and in the way you agreed that those were indeed difficult questions. You were wondering the same for yourself. Hey, don't deny it, it's me you're talking to…"

"Well, it's not a choice if the girl doesn't feel the same way…"

"Are you seriously telling me that Sue does not have feelings for you?"

"Listen, I'm just her friend, her good friend, and that's OK, it really is."

"Get off it, mate, you are more than just a good friend to her! I'm her good friend and she doesn't look at me the way she does at you. You can't tell me you never noticed the looks and tension between you two…"

"I admit there have been moments."

"... and I know how you look at her is more than just in a friendly way."

"Listen, if she felt anything more, would she even have accepted that job in New York City?"

"Ah, but she ended up staying."

"Not just for me, she stayed for all of us, because we're a family of sorts."

"And what part do you think you play in this family, Jack?"

"Come on, Bobby! I told her how much I'd miss her if she left but she'd already decided by then that she wanted to stay. Her decision had nothing to do with me. It's just not like that with Sue and me."

"But you wish it were."

"It's pointless even thinking about that, so why go on about it? We work in the same unit and it's a tight knit unit, which means we can rely on each other blindly as we solve our cases. I don't want to endanger that."

"You wouldn't have to."

"What on earth are you on about?"

"Do you love Sue?"

"We all love Sue."

"That's smart. No Jack, what I mean is are you in love with her?"

"Does it matter?"

"I think it does, especially if she is also in love with you."

"Now there is the crux."

"Oh, come off it, mate! Everyone, even Myles, sees that you two are in love…"

"She isn't…"

"You are wrong, my friend, she is. And once you two can finally admit that to each other, there is a way for you to keep on working together within our unit, but you need to be serious about each other."

Jack looked at his friend in utter surprise and confusion.

Bobby laughed, "Now, I've got your proper attention! Myles came up with the solution…"

"Myles?"

"Oh please, you and Sue have been the talk of the unit for the past few weeks…"

Jack frowned but Bobby continued undeterred, "And be happy about it, because we came up with something…"
