Koneko-Chan: Homecoming

It has been 3 years since the events of Nyan Neko Sugar Girls; Life remains the way its always been. But for one burgundy-haired catgirl, life has changed since the loss of her greatest friend. The only thing that remains is her faith in her mistress; Amaterasu, but even then she's starting to have doubts about her goddess. But alas, Amaterasu's will is a strange thing indeed...

3. Hot Tea

KONEKO-CHAN: HOMECOMING

EPISODE 3: "HOT TEA"

(Fade in to a nice Catampampese sunrise, Leon is outside feeding some chickens) (Cut to dolce lying in bed watching TV. Koneko then wakes up)

"Yawn.. Buenos Dias, Dolce.."

(Dolce waves at her) (Koneko does a little stretch and rubs her eyes. She then looks at the TV)

"What are you watching?"

(|Something interesting. Look!|)

(On the TV is a live news report of some event near the Amerjipan-Alyuska Border. Looks boring)

"That is interesting. Say, do you have anything planned for today?"

(|Some things|)

"Like what?"

(|Walk around town. The usual|)

"Can i come along? Its been a awfully long time since we've walked though town together, and maybe you could show me around"

(|Its settled then|)

"Ill need to change first"

(Dolce nods)

(Cut to koneko brushing her tangled hair in front of a bathroom mirror) (Koneko finishes brushing. She gazes at herself in the mirror. Koneko is wearing her old olive green dress, And her once tangled burgundinian hair is now straight as it should be)

"Oh this old dress brings to much memories.."

(Koneko has some flashbacks of stuff she did with raku and hitoshi, then they fade away)

"The past is in the past, Koneko! A new life awaits ahead of me! And with me as Amateratu's witness, it shall be her will!"

(Play theme)

(Pan down to Koneko and Dolce walking away from home; Koneko is cheery, while dolce is as silent as ever) (Cut to Muguete looking out the window, she sighs)

"Look at them go.. just like when they where little children.."

(She then turns her head to leon, who is reading a book about chickens.)

"Hey leon?"

"¿Sí, mi vida?"

"Do you remember how koneko and granada would always go to the town after work?"

"Recuerdo. ¡Dolce siempre terminaría en casa con más historias sobre ser atacada por ardillas!"

(He chuckles to himself)

"¿Qué tienen las ardillas contra Dolce? ¿los enojó ella en algún momento?"

"I also remember her always saying it was the same damn squirrel that attacked her. Odd, isnt it?"

"Debería darle un cuchillo para su cumpleaños ..."

(Cut to somewhere in a tropical rain-forest; Koneko and Dolce are walking down a quiet dirt road. Dolce is whistling a tune)

"Hey Dolce?"

(Dolce turns to Koneko)

"How much has Osatan changed since i was gone?"

(|Very much. Many new places ever since the national reopening|)

"Reopening?"

(|Like around 12 years ago. Was strange seeing Japanese companies here for the first time|)

"Feels normal to me"

(|Not to me-|)

(Then the sound of something moving among the treetop is heard. Koneko turns her head to the right and sees a squirrel)

"Look dolce, a squirrel!"

(Dolce turns her head quickly to the right) (The squirrel looks at them cutely)

"Its so cute!"

(Koneko reaches into her pocket and pulls out a pack of sunflower seeds. She dumps a few seeds onto her hand and brings it out close to the squirrel)

"Comon, dont be shy!"

(The squirrel inches closer; It then looks straight ahead at something behind Koneko) (Behind koneko dolce slowly picking up a rock, giving the creature a death stare)(Dolce throws the rock as hard as she can. But instead hitting the squirrel, it bounces off the tree and hits Koneko square in the forehead) (The squirrel runs back to the safety of the treetops) (Koneko falls to her knees and covers her face. She can be heard groaning in pain.)

(Dolce runs to koneko and goes down to her level) (She grabs koneko by the shoulders and looks at her, worry in her eyes) (Koneko removes her hands from her face and looks at dolce)

"Ooohh, Dios mios... What did you throw that rock for?!"

(Dolce starts to panic, she tries to explain, but koneko smiles and shushes her) (Koneko notices blood dripping down to her dress, staining it red)

"Oh Mistress.. Thats alot of b-blood..."

(Koneko starts to feel dizzy, her speech slurring and she becomes pale)

"G-get into my b-backpack and pull out the case with a b-big plus on it, okay?..."

(Dolce gets the backpack off koneko and starts rummaging through it frantically. She then pulls out a small first aid kit, rubs some alcohol on the wound, then she takes out some bandage and wraps it around koneko's forehead, stopping the bleeding.)

"Now please pass me a bottle of water..."

(Dolce grabs a bottle of water from the bag, opens it, and gives it to koneko) (Koneko reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small baggie of crushed tea. she opens it and dumps the contents into the water, slowly turning it into a light green) (Dolce looks at koneko in a slight confusion. She takes out a phone and dials, but Koneko simply places her hand on dolce's back and gives her a reassuring smile)

"Dont worry dolce, just give me a few minutes to rest. Everything will be fine and dandy.. just fine and dandy.."

(Dolce turns off the phone and sits besides her. Koneko then drinks from the bottle, sipping quietly) (Cut to a few minutes later, dolce is asleep while koneko is meditating and humming to herself. She then stretches, gets up and removes and dirt on her dress)

"Wake up dolce, im feeling alot better now."

(Dolce yawns and gets up. She looks at koneko in sorrow in her eyes and her ears drooped sadly)

"Im not mad, dolce! These things happen to the best of us, Okay?"

(Koneko nods at dolce in reassurance)

"Comon dolce, this day isnt over yet! We've still haven't even reached Osatan yet!"

(Koneko puts on her bag and then continues to walk along the dirt road)

(Dolce sighs and quickly follows after her sister like if nothing ever happened)

(Cut to a shot of a rather boring looking apartment block with the lettering "010" plastered on the side; Around it are also a bunch of similar looking apartments all equally boring and bland)

"You sure this is the place, dolce?"

(Dolce nods)

(|Here lives a good friend of mine. He's quite the neko!|)

(The two are near the top, over looking Osatan and the world around it. They walk up to a door numbered 294 and dolce gives it a hearty knock)

"Держать на секунду! Иду"

(The door opens, revealing a rather beefy and furry neko person who towered over the two girls. His voice was unmistakably Alyuskan)

"Ah, dolce my friend! Kind time of day, huh?"

(Dolce shrugs)

"And i see you bring friend! Come, Come!"

(He walks back inside, koneko and dolce following ahead. The inside of his apartment was well organized, but small. It has all sorts of old things from a different land and even a strange gun hanging from the wall. It only has two rooms; A kitchen and a living room)

"Make yourself at home! Watch Tv or maybe take nap. Ill be preparing breakfast"

(Dolce smiles and sits down on a rather old couch.)

"Thank you Mr, but i already at-"

(Dolce quietly smacks Koneko on the arm)

"U-uh That would be very nice, Mr..."

"Name is Emelyanov Smoke the 2nd. Call me Smoke, friend. Any friend of Dolce is friend of mine"

(He holds his hand out and shakes koneko's hand. He walks off into the kitchen, leaving the two alone.) (Koneko looks around her. In front of her is a old TV set thats probably older than her, a wooden coffee table with some books on top of it, a big brush, and a few other things. The main thing koneko took notice of was a Dusty old flag of some faraway land with signatures in a language koneko doesn't know)

(|Nice place?|)

"Very different from what i've seen, but change is good"

(|Smoke is a good man, though he is quite strange at first|)

(Dolce gets up and turns on the TV; It tunes to a TV station and plays a old alyuskan movie from way back when) (Cut to a few minutes later, Koneko looks bored while Dolce is on the edge of her seat)

"Do they only play war movies in this channe-"

(Dolce shushes koneko and continues to watch the movie) (Cut to Smoke entering the living room with 3 brown bags that are steaming at the top. He passes one to dolce and koneko)

"Careful! they're very hot"

(Dolce quickly starts to dig in, while koneko seems hesitant)

"Comon, it not all bad once you try"

(Koneko looks at her breakfast; Its a thick, meaty mush in a brown bag. Koneko gets a spoonful and give it a try)

"This isn't half bad"

"See? is not bad once you add spice"

(He then turns his head to koneko)

"Tell me about self, freind of Dolce. Am good listener"

(Koneko puts down her bag and looks at Smoke)

"My name is Koneko Chan, I am the older sister of Dolce"

"Wait, You Koneko-Chan? Dolce tell me lot about you, like how you once have romantic feeling for girl in mangabook"

(Koneko turns to dolce and looks at her angrily. Dolce shrugs in return)

"No worry Koneko friend, i no tell anyone"

(Koneko turns back to Smoke)

"Anyways, ive lived in America-Japan for quite some time"

"America-Japan? What you do?"

"Oh you know; College, go and live a new life, maybe become closer with my mistress"

"What it like?"

"It was like a dream come true! I had my own home, good friends, and so much more! But i quickly had a change of heart after something terrible happened.."

"What happen?"

(Koneko looks down, her ears perk down slightly)

"I-Id rather not talk about it"

"I understand, we all have bad experience rather kept inside"

(Smoke gets up, gets dolces and konekos empty bags and throws them away)

"I go wash dishes. Make selves at home"

(Smoke walks away, leaving the girls alone once more. Koneko looks around her and looks at the pile of books; She picks one and flips through the pages. She lands on a page that captures her eye; It contains many old pictures of smoke in some sort of army) (One picture is of smoke with 5 other people, they're all sitting down on a old tank eating some MREs with the caption; "Battlefield Break. 1988". She looks at another; Its a old photo of a group of 5 wood poles with helmets on them; Under it is captioned "Sleep well, friends. 2003". Many other pictures like it cover the pages)

"Ah, i see you looking at picture memories"

(Koneko jumps and places the book down as fast as she could)

"IMSORRYPLEASEFORGIVEM-"

"Calm self koneko-friend, is good reading"

(Smoke picks up the book)

"Pictures made back when i was military man! had good friends, many stories, nearly die many times. Too bad im only one left of 10th Snow Tank Infantry"

"..Im so sorry to hear that, smoke"

"Is alright. Sometime i miss them, but they in better place with salmon, vodka and bathhouse, so it doesnt bother me much anymore"

"So you've made peace with it?"

"Pretty much, yes. Want know more?"

"Ill pass"

"Alright, koneko-friend, I go back wash dish. Feel free to read anything"

(Smoke leaves. The two girls sit in silence)

(|Want to go elsewhere?|)

"Sure. We might as well leave smoke to let him clean his dishes in peace"

(Koneko and dolce get up and head for the door. Koneko then enters the kitchen, Smoke turns his head)

"Yes, koneko-friend?"

"Thank you for the meal"

(Koneko bows, then waves goodbye)

"Pleasure is mine. До скорого, Dolce and Koneko-Friend!"

(Fade to black)

(Fade in)

(Koneko and dolce are currently walking around a crowded street full of small shops and parked cars. Koneko looks around her, seeing what shops she would like to visit while dolce is wearing her hoodie, sweating like a pig in the hot afternoon)

"Why dont you take off your hoodie, Dolce? Its really hot today"

(Dolce shakes her head)

"You sure?"

(Dolce nods) (Koneko stops in her tracks and turns her head to the left; A Ice cream shop can be seen, packed with people all wanting something cold to eat)

"Comon, lets go get something nice"

(They both walk up to the shop. Koneko opens the door and nearly enters when dolce stops in her tracks. Koneko looks back)

"Arent you coming inside?"

(Dolce points her finger to a sign hung on the door. It reads "WE SERVE NEKOESE ONLY. NO INU" in 3 languages)

(|I'll wait there|)

(Dolce points to a nearby bench.)

"Oh.. Ill be back quickly, okay?"

(Koneko walks in. Cut to dolce sitting alone on the bench, putting down her hoodie. She tries to hide her ears with her hair using a comb)

"I got you something!"

(Koneko sits down on the bench next to dolce, She passes dolce a Coconut popcicle and a cup of cold watermelon)

"I know you love coconut and watermelon, so i got you some!"

(Dolce looks at Koneko)

(|Thank you|)

"You're welcome"

(Koneko pulls out a small box of mochi ice creams and proceeds to eat one, making a strangely loud crunching noise for something that is supposed to be soft)

(For a few seconds, all is peaceful)

(Then, a gust of wind blows a crumpled newspaper next to dolce. She picks it up and uncrumples it and reads. She raises one of her eyebrows and taps koneko on the shoulder)

"Yes Dolce?"

(Dolce lends koneko the paper and points at the headline. Koneko begins to read, her eyes widen)

"Oh my, that is worrying. Should i call mama and papa?"

(Dolce thinks about it, then shrugs it off)

(|We'll be fine. We're Far from there anyways|)

"This isnt something to shrug off dolce, this is serious"

(|And how it effect us?|)

(Koneko ponders for a sec)

"You're right. But im showing this to mama and papa at dinnertime. They should know this"

(Dolce scoffs, continuing to eat her popcicle) (Koneko folds the newspaper and puts it in her backpack)

"I wonder if Hitoshi and Mei know about this?"

(|Ask them|)

"Ill ask them tonight after dinner, nya"

(Cut to a late sunset sky, the stars can be seen twinkling away) (Pan down to Koneko and dolce ontop of hill; Dolce is laying on the grass, while Koneko is staring at something afar)

"Beautiful, isnt it?"

(Dolce nods, not paying attention to koneko)

"Its almost like its a gift from amateratsu herself!"

(In the distance is the Shrine, halfway done. It towers over everything by a considerable margin)

"I will be a shrine maiden one day, loyally serving amateratsu as she served me. I can already see it;"

(Koneko lays down on the grass)

"Id be wearing a comfy robe with fellow maidens, doing what a maiden does to serve ameteratsu! It would be a dream come true"

(Koneko smiles and closes her eyes, dolce continues to stare at the sky) (Dolce looks to her wrist, A cheap watch can be seen; it reads 7:54) (Dolce gets up and taps koneko. Koneko opens her eyes)

(|Night. Lets go home|)

(They both walk down the hill and into the night)

(Cut to the dinner table at the house; The whole family is seen eating dinner. Muguete looks at Koneko)

"So where did you two go?"

"Well.. me and Dolce want to-"

(|We visit smoke, walked around town, and saw the shrine or whatever|)

"Interesting. But what about the bandage on Koneko's head?"

(|It long story...|)

"¿Dónde ustedes dos luchan como niñas otra vez?"

(Dolce shakes her head. Hesitant about explaining)

(|...I saw a squirrel and i throw a rock, hitting koneko|)

"Ardillas de nuevo? Pensé que ya habíamos superado esto, Granada"

(Dolce looks embarrassed, putting her head down)

"Well let me see the damage at least"

(Muguete gets up, steps towards koneko and takes off koneko's bandage.)

"I see brusing, but wheres the wound?"

(Koneko's forehead is slightly swollen and purple. other than that, it has healed considerably)

"No veo una herida. ¿Te importaría decirnos qué está pasando?"

(Koneko clears her throat)

"I drank green tea, its amateratsu's gift to this world. It made me better"

"¿Té verde? ¡Debes estar loco como Granada!"

"No really papa, im telling the truth! It really did make me better"

"So you're saying that green tea has healed you as if it was a miracle from amateratsu?"

"It really does mama! Ill even make you a some and then you'll understand"

"Voy a pasar este té milagroso"

"...You know what? Make me some. I want to see if you're right about this tea"

"Gladly!"

(Koneko gets up, opens her bag, pulls out some tea packets and walks to the stove)

(Cut to a few minutes later, Muguete takes a sip of tea)

"Doesnt taste bad.. But we'll see in the morning, now wont we koneko?"

(Koneko nods)

"Oh yeah, i forgot to show you this"

(Koneko pulls out the folded newspaper and gives it to Leon)

"Qué tenemos aquí..."

(He starts reading the headline. He smiles and rolls his eyes)

"¿Las tensiones fronterizas con Estados Unidos-Japón y el Imperio mexicano aumentan rápidamente? Esto no es nada nuevo"

"W-what do you mean papa?"

"¡Siempre ha habido un problema con los problemas fronterizos! ¡Lo sé desde que era un pequeño cachorro!"

"Really?!"

"¡Por supuesto! Y además, incluso si algo sucediera, ¡ni siquiera nos afectaría en lo más mínimo!"

(He crumples up the newspaper and throws it in the trash, laughing to himself)

"¡No hay nada de qué preocuparse por mi gatita! ¡Como si hubiera algo de qué preocuparse!"

(Koneko looks confused)

"Como si algo pasara aquí.."

(He gets up from the table and walks away to his bedroom, filling the table with silence)

(|Told you|)

"I guess papa's right, i shouldn't worry about it. Comon Dolce, lets go to bed"

(Koneko and dolce get up and walk to their bedroom. Muguete is now alone at the table sipping her tea)
"I think my headache is starting to go away.."

(Cut to koneko using her laptop while dolce watches Tv. Koneko clicks on skerp, and starts a call with 2 familiar faces)

K: "Good Evening, My tomodachis!"

H: "Moshi Moshi, Koneko-Chan"

M: "MORNING KONEKO"

K: "So i started this call because i wanted to t-"

H: "Hey is that your sister in the back? HEY THERE DOLCE, WHATS GOING ON HOTSTUFF?"

(Dolce waves at hitoshi then goes back to watching TV)

K: "I-Its really important Hitoshi!"

H: "Oh, sorry about that!"

K: "Its okay Hitoshi. So dolce showed me a newspaper with some news i thought you guys should know, as you two live in America-Japan"

M: "KEEP GOING"

H: "Sounds important"

K: "The headline was "Tensions flare up at Mexican and American-Japanese Southwestern border. Worrying, isnt it?"

H: "Dosent sound that bad"

M: "BORDER TENSIONS? THAT IS WORRYING"

K: "I know right? But my father says that its nothing to worry about and that it wouldnt even affect us. But i worry it might effect you guys"

H: "He sounds right to me"

K: "What do you mean hitoshi?"

H: "Well, we are pretty far away from wherever that border is. I think"

M: "I DONT KNOW HITOSHI, IT MIGHT NOT EFFECT US, BUT KONEKO IS CLOSER TO IT THAN WE ARE"

H: "True, True"

K: "Thats what i mean, but my father just laughed it off"

H: "Im not going to lie to you koneko, But im going to agree with your father here."

K: "You agree with him?"

H: "Yeah! Like will it really effect any of us to the point we should worry like crazy?"

K: "But hitoshi, think about what would happen if this where to escalate even further!"

M: "I THINK KONEKO IS ON TO SOMETHING. HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF THE DOMINO THEORY?"

H: "Im pretty sure that was a movie i saw one ti-"

K: "Ive heard about it before"

M: "THINK ABOUT IT. IF THIS DOES GO FURTHER, IT COULD SPELL DISASTER FOR ALL OF US; EVEN FOR THOSE IN THE JAPAN PART"

K: "I hear they have a weapon that could level a entire city! Is that not worrying to you, Hitoshi?"

H: "You two do bring up some good points, but what are the chances of this going all out of control? Tell me"

K: "Well.. uh.."

M: "HMMM..."

H: "What did i tell ya? If they really wanted war, they would've already waged it at this point. Dont you think?"

(Koneko sighs)

K: "You're right hitoshi, I guess im just worried sick about you guys"

H: "Oh dont be~ Your making my heart all mushy inside"

M: "IM WORRIED ABOUT YOU TOO KONEKO. BUT I THINK HITOSHI MIGHT BE RIGHT WITH THIS ONE"

K: "I suppose so. Thank you guys for talking to be about this"

H: "Anything to help, Koneko. Nya, Rawr"

(Hitoshi signs off)

K: "Well Mei, i guess ill be signing off too."

M: "OKAY THEN. ID IMAGE IT WAS A BUSY DAY TODAY"

K: "It sure has been"

M: "GO AND GET SOME REST, OKAY?"

(Mei blows a kiss and then signs off)

"You too..."

(Koneko closes her laptop and covers herself in a blanket) (She opens her bag and pulls out a picture frame. The picture is of raku-chan at a amusment park with a rather large corn dog in hand.) (Koneko places the frame next to her, and closes her eyes)

"Good night, Raku-Chan..."

(Cut to muguete and leon in bed. Leon is reading a book while muguete is just staring at the ceiling)

"Hey honey?"

"Si, muguete?"

"Ive been thinking about what Koneko said about green tea"

"Déjame adivinar, también te has enamorado de sus conspiraciones?"

"I might just be. The second i drank the tea my headache just suddenly went away!"

"Te estás volviendo loco. El té verde no puede curar nada como comer un cactus no cura una herida de bala"

"Call me whatever you like, but i think she might be telling the truth. And thats not the green tea speaking!"

(Muguete looks at the empty tea cup. She then sighs)

"You remember how i told you we would be free of debt one day? That we wouldnt end up like my mother?"

"Me dices eso cada mes"

"Well i think i finally know how"

"¿Qué tienes en mente esta vez?"

"Have you noticed that green tea is ever given at shrines by shrine maidens?"

"Por lo general"

"So ive been thinking; Maybe most temples actually grow their own tea"

"¿Estás loca mujer? ¡El té verde ni siquiera puede crecer en estos suelos, no importa lo que haga! ¡No puedes!"

"Then how to the religous folk get their green tea?!"

"Estoy bastante seguro de que solo lo importan de otro lugar"

"They dont, for i have never seen a single crate of green tea anywhere near a temple!"

"Tal vez lo almacenan dentro"

"OR maybe they actually grow it using some unknown method-"

"¡Ni siquiera pienses en robar desde allí! incluso yo sé que está mal"

"Leon, if i can pull this off then this will be our chance not only our lives, but who knows how much others lives we can change if koneko is truthful!"

(Leon starts thinking about it)

"We could fully pay our debts to the Organization! We could afford to retire and live a life of luxury! we could-"

(Leon raises his hand)

"Traes algunos buenos puntos. Lo pensaré más, pero si pasa algo, sé que no volveré por ti"

"I knew you would see it my way. If i succeed, soon we, the family will-"

"Cierra la boca y ve a dormir, es medianoche"

"Alright. Good Night, Leon"

(Cut to a shot of koneko sleeping soundly)

"Buenas noches, querida..."

(Fade to black. Play credits)
