-Chapter 3-

Julia Stein was used to running, coming from a powerful werewolf family meant she was always on the run. This time was different. Her and Ivan were on their own. For the first time, they had to fend for themselves.

''Ivan, hurry up.'' Julia and Ivan had managed to get a room at a beaten down motel near Beacon Hills. Beacon Hills was the destination that Julia so desperately wanted to arrive at.

''I'm ready, are you?'' Ivan inquired. He had dressed down in jeans, one of his custom t-shirts, and a hoodie.

Julia realised in between getting fuel for the jeep and checking the map over 10 times, she had forgotten to get changed, still in her pyjama shorts and tank top.

''Right, just give me a second.'' mutured Julia as she entered the bathroom.

After some time, both siblings were ready. They climbed into the jeep, double checking they had everything with them.

''Ready?'' inquired Julia.

''Yeah, I am'' replied Ivan.

''Beacon Hills, here we come.''

-At the McCall house-

''Morning, how did you sleep?'' asked Scott. He was seated at the kitchen table, slowly munching on some cereal, waiting for Isaac to wake up. He was worried he never would.

''Good, thanks.'' replied Isaac, joining Scott at the table.

''Do you want some breakfast?'' asked Scott.

''Um, yeah sure.'' replied Isaac.

''So, how did you find everyone yesterday?'' Scott inquired, as he poured Isaac his own bowl of cereal.

''They all seem competent, you chose well.'' Isaac said.

''That's all, what did you think of Liam, my beta?''

''He seems like a strong werewolf, got a lot of potential, but I think you already know that.''

''And Malia?'' usually Scott wouldn't get involved in personal matters, especially those of Isaac, but he sensed something more there.

''She seems nice, I guess.'' murmured Isaac under his breath.

''Right, nice.'' Scott murmured, handing Isaac his bowl of cereal.

''Look, I have to get to work, but make yourself comfortable.'' Scott said, as he headed upstairs to get ready for work.

As Isaac finished his bowl of cereal, heading to place it in the skink. He noticed a small piece of paper folded on the counter.

''This is Malia's number just in case. 510-393-3464''

Isaac stared at this menial piece of paper for a long while. Pondering the possibilities. He didn't know what he wanted to do, did he want to call Malia, what would he say to her. He just met her, did she even like him. Too many things were going through Isaac's head. The best solution would be to run it off, so that's what he did.

-Beacon Hills Preserve-

Malia had a stressful morning, she was trying to get through her classes. It wasn't going so well. She had difficulty with all the extra math classes she had audited. Her work was not completing itself, but neither was she.

So she did what she does best. She went for a run. Running in the preserve always brought her peace of mind, it allowed her to clear her head and reminisce of her once home. It gave her a sense of calm like nothing else. She could be at peace with the wind and the ground underneath her feet.

No one ever ran on the preserve, they were often too afraid of a possible coyote attack, that wasn't a problem for her, she was after all a werecoyote.

But it turned out she wasn't the only one there today. She caught a heartbeat instantly, just as fast beating as hers.

Malia sprinted towards the heartbeat, running into a larger than person. Both Isaac and Malia collapsed to the ground.

''What the hell, Malia?'' inquired Isaac, looking at the girl with furious eyes.

''Isaac, I didn't know who you were.'' responded Malia, helping both herself and Isaac to their feet.

''It's okay, I just wasn't expecting that.''

''I'm usually alone up here. No one ever runs here. You're the first person i've seen up here in a while.'' said Malia, searching for something in Isaac.

''I'm sorry. I just needed to let out some energy.'' Isaac wasn't about to tell her, she was the reason he needed to clear his head. Every thought being her.

''It's okay, we can run together. If you can keep up.'' Malia said, inattentively challenging Isaac.

''Oh, I can keep up. I might just outrun you.'' said Isaac, setting off instantly.

''No fair.'' replied Malia, before taking off as well.

-Entrance to Beacon Hills-

''Is this it?'' asked Ivan.

''Yeah, I think so.'' responded Julia. They had just arrived at the entrance of town. Ready to track down an old friend.

''Let's find Isaac.'' murmured Julia.
