Arizona POV

It's been 3 weeks since Riley received an artificial lung, and he's getting discharged today. From the looks of his scans and test, Callie was right he could come off the transplant list. I'm standing outside his room leaning against the nurses station, watching her interact with Riley and his parents, and all I can see is smiles. Not to mention she has a beautiful smile, and the whitest teeth, with the most plump lips I ever seen. Man I would love to feel her lips wrapped around me, I can feel my boxers starting to become tight in my lower region. Okay you need to relax, you're at work. So I turn around so my back is facing them and I try to pretend that I'm studying a chart.

"Hey, so they are set to go." I hear her soft husky voice. It takes everything in me not to show, how much that has effected me.

"That's great." I smiled at her.

"You take him off the transplant list?"

"Yes I did. Three weeks on your little thing and his lungs has improved."

Callie turns her body towards me and puts her hand out for me to shake. "Well good work." For a few seconds before I take her hand, we stare into each other's eyes and I can feel a connection. Breaking out of my trance, i take her hand slowly rubbing her knuckles with my thumb and smile at her. "Great work, amazing work, and I never wanted to do it. Dr. Torres you are amazing."

"Well Umm. We should celebrate."

"Yes this is one to celebrate. Let me know when you're free and we can go, my treat."

Just then Mark comes up behind her holding a child.

"Torres, I got your son."

"Mami!!" The little boy squealed squirming his way out of Mark's arm.

"Hey big boy. How are you? Mami missed you." She hugged him and kissed his face.

"Miss you too Mami. Who's that? He says looking in my direction.

"Hey buddy, I'm Dr. Robbins. But my friends call me Zona. Can you say Zona?" I tell him shaking his little hand.

"Zona!!! Mami, she's pretty." He giggled.

"Is she mijo?" Callie says laughing trying to hide her blush.

"Si Mami!"

"Well, I gotta go. So Umm.. sometime?" She says as she slowly walks away.

"Yeah, yeah sometime, that be awesome." I say turning back to my work.

I've been here for almost a month, and I had no clue she had a son. Is she married? Is the child Mark's? But he told her your son, not our son. Seriously why didn't anyone tell me. Why didn't Timmy tell me?"

CALLIE POV

While, I was talking to Arizona with Aiden in my arms I could feel Mark burning holes into me. I knew the moment we walked away, he would open his big mouth.

"So Torres, what was that about?" He says bumping my shoulders.

"What, was what about?"

"I saw all the hand holding and the staring."

"Shut up Mark. We were only talking about the case and how we need to celebrate. It was nothing."

"Mhmm nothing. Right?"

"Anyways I have the weekend off, Mijo what do you want to do?" I ask trying to change the subject.

"Can, we go to the Park Mami?"

"We sure can, bubba"

"Torres, we are not done talking about this."

"Mark, not now. I really just want to relax. Come over for dinner. I'll make your favorite. Text Addie too."

"Sounds good. You know we all love your cooking."

"I know."

Once in my apartment, I showered and changed. I go into the kitchen to start cooking dinner for Mark and Addison.

For some reason, I couldn't get Arizona off my mind. The way she stroked my hand while she held it, the long glances we would share. I would find myself hoping I would run into her throughout the day. I know once I heard her voice my body would react to it. This is probably just a crush. Since she's new, but all I know is that I need to stop looking at her.

Arizona POV

I really don't want to ask Timothy cause I know he will make a big deal of it. So instead I opt to talk to Teddy. I entered the attending lounge and I see her heating up her dinner.

"Hey I want to ask you something, but you cannot tell Tim. You got it?"

"Yes of course. Just cause he's my boyfriend doesn't mean I tell him everything. And your my best friend. So go ahead what's up?"

"Why didn't you tell me Calliope had a child?"

"Who's Calliope?" Teddy says taking a seat.

"Callie! I'm talking about Callie."

"Oooh..." she says taking a bite of her chicken.

"I thought you knew. Everyone knows."

"No..no Teddy not everyone."

"Who's the child's other parent?" I asked curiously.

"It's not my story to tell Arizona." Teddy says seriously.

"Okay I respect that." I admit. Considering everyone deserves to share what they want, when they want.

"Well I thought you knew. Besides does it matter? Why do you care so much?"

"I don't." I say a little off pitch.

"You totally like her!" She says jumping out of her seat.

"Shut up, Teddy. I don't know. I'm just enamored. I believe it just a crush and I don't even know if she's gay."

"Mhmmm. Just a crush? I've never seen you this hung up on someone before. I'm surprised you're even talking to me. Usually you'd be at the bar, hooking up with someone.

"Look it's innocent. I need to go. I'll see you later, and I've turned over a new leaf. From now on, no more meaningless sex" I stand up to walk away and all I can hear is Teddy laughing.

"Oh and Arizona..."

"What?"

"She's single and she's a lady lover too, so you have a chance. You know for meaningful sex."

"Shut up Teddy." I say grinning at her with a little bit of hope in my eyes.

Walking out of the hospital I'm met with Dr. Montgomery. "Dr. Robbins, I heard from a little birdie that you might be interested in maternal and neonatal care." Addison says

"Yes I am interested. Did Herman tell you? I always wanted to further my career in Pediatrics. Why not start when the baby is a fetus? Also only the best of the best work in neonatal."

"Yes we spoke briefly about you. Well I have a fellowship opening up soon."

"Are you serious?" I said with wide eyes.

"I do and from what I hear, you are the best of the best."

I'm quiet for a moment. "You know, I would love to take on this fellowship, but I just moved here and I'm getting in the groove of running my own department. And I hate to turn this opportunity down cause I know learning from you, would be worth it. I just don't know if right now would be the best time."

"I understand, Dr. Robbins."

"I'm sorry Dr. Montgomery. If I wasn't the head of my department, I would take this fellowship in an instant."

"Dr. Robbins don't worry about it. Really I understand."

"Thank you for understanding. Well I better be going. I had a long day. All I want to do is sleep. Goodnight Dr. Montgomery."

"Goodnight Dr. Robbins."

Callie POV

"Mark shut up about Arizona already."

"Why? You wanna know what I heard about her?"

"What did you hear Mark? I asked curiously.

"You know what never mind, you don't want to talk about her anymore."

"Just tell me already." I say annoyed.

"Tim told me that she's into women."

"Mark I know that." I laughed.

"Then why haven't you made a move yet?"

"Cause I don't want to." I say taking a sip of my wine.

Just then I hear a knock on my door. "That must be Addison." I open the door and let her in.

"Hey guys, what you up too?"

"We are not talking about how Callie has a crush on the hot new Peds doctor." Mark says grinning.

"Really Cal?" Addison asked.

"No, Mark is an idiot. Ignore him. Let's eat, the foods ready."

We all make our way to the dinner table.

"Aiden, come on son. Let's eat dinner."

"You know speaking of Dr. Robbins. I just offered her a neonatal fellowship."

"Oh yeah?" Mark says. I can feel all their eyes on me.

"Yeah, you know how me and Dr. Herman work close together. She was talking about finding more doctors to specialize in neonatal, and she recommended Arizona. Not to mention the publicity she would bring to our hospital, since she came back from Africa."

"I'm not surprised. Have you seen her in an OR? This week, I had to to a gynecomastia surgery on one of kids, and I promise she would have been an amazing Plastics Surgeon."

"So what did she say?" I asked genuinely interested.

"She kindly said no. I understand though. It would be close to impossible to run an entire department and learn one of the hardest specialty in the medical field. I could tell she really wanted to accept it."

I've been so busy that I've never watched her in an OR. Now I'm kinda curious, but I can tell from the way she holds herself and the fact that Addison offered her a fellowship means she is the best of the best. Addison never hands out fellowships.

"By the way Callie, this steak is delicious."

"Yeah Callie, this is great."

"Mami, I'm done."

"Okay, go brush your teeth and I'll read you a story tuck you into bed."

After Aiden brushed his teeth he called out for me in his room, "Mami, I'm ready for my story."

When I walked into his room, he was already in bed yawning. "Why do uncle Mark and Aunty Red keep talking about Zona?"

"Because baby she's our friend. You ready for your story." I say changing the subject. Everyone is talking about her so much, that even my son is talking about her.

"Yes."

Not even 2 pages into the story, my beautiful baby fell asleep. I kiss his forehead and head back outside.

"Squirt asleep?"

"Yes."

"Great now we can celebrate." Addison says as she grabbed a bottle of tequila from her purse. She pours each of us a shot.

"I'm not even gonna ask why you have tequila in your purse."

Addison laughs, "Good, you don't wanna know."

"To Torres!" Mark says holding up his shot. We all cheered and shot it back.

"Thank you. I appreciate this but I can't drink too much, I promised to take Aiden to the park tomorrow."

"Yeah.. yeah whatever Torres." Mark says pouring another shot.

I roll my eyes and I know I'm in for a long night and longer morning. But I'm celebrating, I deserved it. I'm the first cardio surgeon to do an artificial lung transplant on a child. So I take my shot from Mark and drink it back.

General POV

Arizona woke up early drinking her morning coffee and googled the closest park to her loft. She really needed to get back into running. So she did her laundry and got dressed for the park. As she running past the playground. She hears her name being called, but it sounds like a child. So she stopped running and looked for the person calling my name.

"Zona!! Zona!"She realizes that the voice calling her is Callie's son.

"Hey buddy, how are you? Where's your mom?" I say catching my breath.

He points to Callie, who is wearing a sweats and glasses. "Aiden, I told you to stay close to me."

"I know mommy, but I saw our friend." He takes off and runs back to the playground.

Arizona looks at Callie and she looks exhausted. "So long night?"

"You have no idea. Addison and Mark came over for dinner. After I put Aiden to bed, Addison opened a bottle of tequila and well you know how it gets after a few shots. It turns into more. Until you passed out on your couch. Then you wake up early at the butt crack of dawn to a very excited screaming toddler ready to go to the park."

"Sounds like an exciting night and an even better morning." I joked.

"Right." Callie says eyeing Arizona up and down through her sunglasses.

"So you running?"

"Considering, my outfit and the fact that I'm still trying to catch my breath, yes I'm running."

"Okay smart ass." Callie chuckles.

"Well I should get back to running."

"Have fun Arizona."

Back paddling "I will Calliope." She winked.

"Wait, you never told me who told you my name?"

"I did, I said don't worry about it." Arizona says while running.

Callie just shakes her head and chuckles while walking back to the bench to watch Aiden play.

On Arizona last lap, she decides to stop at the playground. She takes off her long sleeve and tie it around her waist. So she's left in a tank top with sweat dripping down her neck

"Hey!" She says taking the seat next to Callie.

"You finished running?" She says lifting up her sunglasses. She quickly turns her head back to Aiden to keep her from staring at Arizona drenched body.

"Yes, I am sitting next to you aren't I?"

"You know, you really are something you know that?" Callie says as she rolls her eyes.

Arizona looks at the playground and sees Aiden coming down the slide. "He's cute, your son. What's his name? I think I heard you call him Aiden?"

"Yeah his names Aiden." Callie says looking at her.

"Well he's adorable, I'm sure he's hard to say no to."

"Sometimes, but believe me he definitely has a temper. He's-"

"Strong willed, head strong. Just like his mommy." Arizona says honestly while looking into Callie's eyes.

"Thank you." Callie says trying to hide her blush.

"I mean it you know, we should get those drinks." Arizona says looking at Callie's lips. This doesn't go unseen to Callie, so subconsciously she bites the corner of her lip.

"Yeah, we definitely should." Callie agrees.

Arizona stands up to leave, "I need to get going. I work the night shift." As Arizona stands up she turns towards Callie. "Me and you? We're good right. We can be friends right?"

Callie looks up at Arizona, and she decided to give her a hard time. So she tilts her head and gives a soft smile "Maybe."

"Maybe?" Arizona says confused.

The brunette keeps going on with her joke. With a straigh face, "Yeah, you see I have enough friends already. I don't need more."

"Oh, okay?" Arizona says starting to walk away.

"I'm just kidding Arizona, of course we're friends."

Arizona looks at Callie and starts laughing, "Wow, you almost had me there. I'm glad we can be friends. Considering we started off on the wrong foot. Well I really should be going. I'll see you at the hospital Calliope."

"You know most people call me Callie."

"Well I'm not most people, Calliope." Arizona says gives her that killer wink that melts Callie's insides.

"Mhmm you don't say."

"See you soon Calliope."

"You can count on it, Dr. Robbins." Callie winked back.

Arizona adjusted her long sleeve that was tied around her waist so she can hide her friend who is quickly making itself known. I really need to figure something out. Every time I look at her I can't help but want her and it's starting to get harder to ignore.

Arizona POV

It has been a few days since I've seen Callie at the Park. I'm sitting on the couch in the attending lounge reading the newspaper, when she comes in to grab her lunch.

"Dr. Torres, so nice to see you."

"Likewise Dr. Robbins. Today's been hectic."

"Yeah it has been, thank god it's almost over."

"I saw some journalists or reporter just leave, was that for you?"

"Yeah Medical Digest wanted a piece about the work I did in Africa."

Callie picks up her fork and digs into her salad, "So what did you do in Africa?"

"If you wait a few more weeks you can read about it in Medical Diegest or.."

"Or?"

"Or you can go get those celebratory drinks we said we were gonna get and I'll tell you all about it."

"Wow, that's a very tempting offer, but.."

I look at her waiting for her to finish her sentence, "But.."

"But nothing, I'm done at 7. I'll see if Mark or Addison can watch Aiden."

"Sounds good, I'll meet you in the lobby at 7.:30." I chuckled.

"See you then, Dr. Robbins."

"You sure will Dr. Torres." I winked and walked out the lounge and back to my floor.

Callie POV

I check the OR board and I see that Addison should be finishing up her surgery soon. So I wait outside of her OR 2, finally the door opens and she walks out.

"Hey, were you waiting for me?"

"Yes, what time are you finished tonight?"

"That was actually my last surgery for today. Why?"

"Can you please watch Aiden? I'm gonna go get drinks with Arizona tonight. It should only be a few hours."

"You're getting drinks with the Peds Surgeon?"

"Yeah, she asked me. It's to celebrate our surgery that we did on Riley."

"Right?" She said sarcastically.

"Addie, please don't make it a bigger thing than what it is. I already get enough of that from Mark."

"Fine, I'm just teasing, but of course I'll watch him. And take your time. No need to rush home."

"Thanks Addison."

After changing into my street clothes, I make my way to the lobby. When I step out of the elevator, I see Arizona talking to some doctor I've never seen before. She must've felt me watching her cause she turned in my direction giving me a huge smile. She stands up and shakes the doctor's hand and walks my way.

"You look good Calliope."

"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself. You ready?"

"Yeah, let's go. This is gonna be my first time to Joe's and I heard this is the spot where all doctors go."

"It sure is. Well I hardly ever go now, since I had Aiden. But before him, I'd go all the time with Mark and Addison."

"I can only imagine how fun it must've been."

"Fun? No, puking my guts out was never fun."

"Yeah, I never liked that part."

We walked into the bar and we sit in a booth. "You know what you're gonna get?"

"We are celebrating right?"

"Of course." I smiled.

"Well, let's get a few shots then."

"Okay, that sounds good."

The bartender comes to our table and takes our order. I look at Arizona and she's swaying to the sound of the music. She looks so free and I think she caught me looking at her cause she gives me a wink.

"So, who was that doctor you were talking to? I don't think I ever seen him."

"That's Dr. Green. I know him from Hopkins. He was doing a consult with Derek."

"Oh.."

"Yeah, he was telling me how the hospital wants me back, and that they are willing to do anything I want."

Im sitting here and I can feel a slight pain in my chest. Why do I feel this way? I hardly even know her.

"Oh."

"Yeah, I told him that I'd never go back. I like it here in Seattle. I needed a change. My brothers here, I'm the head of my department and..."

"And?"

"And there might be a few other reasons, but I'm not sure yet."

The cocktail waitress comes with a tray and placed our drinks in front of us. She looks at Arizona and gives her a wink. "Thank you." Arizona smiled.

"Of course, anything for you." She says seductively.

Is she openly flirting with Arizona. Right in front of me. I shouldn't be upset. It's not like we're together or anything. I shake it off and pick up a shot. Arizona follows suite. "To Dr. Torres, for having such a creative mind." We cheers and we shoot it back.

"Shit, that never gets easier." She says as she bites down on her lemon. I can't help but laugh. "So are you gonna tell me about Africa?" Arizona picked up her beer and took a swig.

"Africa, was probably the best experience of my life. It taught me so many things. It taught me how to be grateful, resourceful. God we truly had to be resourceful out there. I mean I pretty much had unlimited funds, but when I first got there that place was a mess. I wanted to pack up and come home so many times, but I just couldn't."

"I knew you wouldn't leave, but what made you want to stay?"

"Well first off, I made a commitment, not just to myself and the Carter Maddison committee, but to the women and children of Malawi. It was my dream to go out there and provide my services that they would never see in this lifetime. So I stuck it out, and made the best of it. Some days it felt like I was literally building it from the ground up. I had to learn how to run a group of people, who hardly knew anything about medicine, but they were willing to learn. If someone was willing to learn, well I owed it to teach them. Eventually maybe a year into laying a solid foundation down, we got into the groove of things."

I take a few sips of my drink, and listen to her stories. She thinks I'm amazing. When honestly Arizona Robbins might be the most amazing person on this earth. So I keep smiling and nodding at her storytelling.

"There so much to say about Malawi, but truly it was awesome. They became my family. It was so hard to leave, but I trained a few doctors and now they do surgeries out of the clinic. I'm set to go back in a few months, for a week or two."

"Arizona, you are incredible. I see it now."

"See what now?"

"People at the hospital, they always talk about how you're the best, how you go above and beyond. How you have a passion for Pediatric. You're amazing."

"Thanks, I appreciate that. So anyways now that you know somewhat about Africa. Tell me about yourself?" Arizona asked as she takes another shot. I pick mines up and I can feel the alcohol slowly running it's course through my body.

"What do you wanna know?"

"Anything you wanna share with me."

"Well, I'm from Miami, my family still lives there. We're not the closest, but they accepted me for who I am. I guess when I told them I was bi, they kinda took with a grain of salt. But when I told them I was gonna have a baby on my own, that's when they got mad. I guess they always had hoped I would end up getting married and having children. You know the picture that people put in your mind of a perfect family."

"Wait, you had Aiden through IVF?"

"Yeah, right after I became an attending. I went to Addison and told her what my plans were. She gave me the hormone shots and when it was time to do the IVF it took on the first time, and a few months later I had Aiden."

"So did your family ever come around?"

"Yeah my dad came after I gave birth. He went home and showed my mother the picture. The next day she and my sister flew down. She apologized and I believe she meant it. They visit every year for Aiden's birthday and every Christmas and New Years we fly up there. Addison and Mark come too."

"Thats great. I'm glad everything worked out for you and Aiden. So you Addison and Mark are you guys like the 3 musketeers or something?"

"Well Mark and I were friends from high school, then when we went to Med school, we met Addison. We all did our internship at SGMW. We decided to stay there for residency and now we are Head of our Departments."

I pick up my last shot and shoot it back and I can feel Arizona really looking at me. "What?"

"Nothing, you're just really stunning, Calliope."

"Wow, Umm thank you." I blushed.

"You're welcome." She says looking into my eyes. Those blue eyes are lethal. I'm not sure if it's the alcohol or what, but I know she's slowly getting harder to resist. Finally I look away trying to break away from the looks she's giving me.

"So, your parents must be proud 2 doctors in the family."

"Yeah, they are. We come from a military background. Moved around a lot. Tim and I didn't want that life, so instead we became doctors."

"You know what's weird is that he never talked about you in residency. So when you moved here, everyone was surprised."

"I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing he was too focused on Ortho to mention anything. But you're not the first to mention it to me."

"Sorry, Arizona if I made you uncomfortable asking about that."

"No, don't be sorry. You wanted to know. Don't ever apologize for asking me a question." For the first time this evening it's quiet between us. Arizona bites the corner of her lip "You wanna know something?"

"What?"

"When you first walked into Riley's room. It took everything in me to focus on his chart."

"Why?"

"Because you are so beautiful, I just wanted to look at you. Then you started arguing with me, and that made me want to get to know you."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, and now that I somewhat know you, I don't think I want to stop getting to know you." She admits.

Is it hot in here or is it just me? She knows exactly what to say and how to say it. I can tell she's probably a player. Nobody is this smooth. She kinda reminds me of Mark, but so much more suave.

"Don't get shy now, Calliope. " She says giving me wink.

I shake my head and laugh, "You're really smug, aren't you?"

"I guess it depends."

"On?"

"If I'm talking to you." She says drinking her beer.

"Oh, so you only talk this way to me? I find that hard to believe." I teased.

"Why is that so hard to believe?"

"Because nobody who is this smooth and charming, only talks like this to one person."

"I guess that might be true. But I come from a long line of charmers. I like to think it's in my genetics."

"See this is what I mean. You are too good at this."

Arizona leans forward across of me, looking into my eyes and I subconsciously follow her movements. I know if I don't stop this soon, I'm gonna succumb to her and do whatever she wants. So I pull back and shut my eyes trying to focus and rid myself from my alcohol filled mind.

"It's getting late, and Addison is watching Aiden. So I really should go."

"Yeah, of course. Thanks for coming out and celebrating. You really are a fantastic surgeon."

"From what I heard, so are you."

I go to grab money from my wallet, "Don't worry about Calliope, I got it. Remember I said it was my treat."

"Okay, well I should be going."

Arizona stands and gives me a friendly hug. "I'll see you at the hospital."

I nod my head and walk out the door.
