Hi everyone! While I still don't have a planned schedule or specific date for releasing these, all I can promise is at least 1 a week. But, I've been a little under the weather recently. I'm not sick with Covid-19(at least I hope not...), but I am overall not feeling well. So, that'll be why if I don't upload any new chapters soon. But enough about that, this chapter will reintroduce one of my favorite characters that was only seen in two episodes. Kenge. Let's start!
Two Weeks after the events of Trouble With a Serval...
The Guard was out on another morning patrol. While Ono is flying above to get a better look around, the others are walking along the ground. While there haven't been any other events similar to the encounter with Mfupi, the memory was this vividly remembered by the Guard. But for now, it was mostly forgotten. While Bunga and Beshte were talking with each other, Fuli is walking in silence, looking around. Kion is at the front, leading the Lion Guard along. Just then, Ono flies down, screaming, "Everyone! Everyone!" The rest of the Guard stopped walking and turned to look up at the egret. Kion asked the Keenest of Sight, "Ono, what is it?" The egret responds, "I've just seen Kenge trying to sneak back into the Pride Lands. He's already crossed the border. He's heading towards Nyani Grove!" Bunga gasps, "That's where the baboons live!" Kion says, "Right. We have to stop him before he bites anyone. Till' the Pride Lands End..." The rest of the Guard finishes as they begin heading towards the grove, "Lion Guard defend!"
Meanwhile at the Outlands Volcano...
The volcano is quiet, with the only one inside being Ushari. The cobra mutters to himself, "Yessss... Perhapssss that will work." Janja, Cheezi, Chungu, Nne, and Tano walk in through one of the entrances. The hyena leader asks, "What will work, Ushari?" Before the cobra can answer, bubbling is heard from the lava in the center of the caldera. Scar's spirit appears above the lava, laughing manaically. Scar says, "My latest plan to deal with, an issue..." Nne curiously asks, "What is it Scar, another plan to defeat the Lion Guard?" The ghost replies, "Oh, not this time. It has to do with a traitor." Janja questions, "A traitor? Who could that be? We're all loyal to you, Scar." Ushari coldy replies, "Not all of ussss, Janja." Scar says again with visible anger in his voice, "Kenge. The monitor lizard abandoned us after my plot to red rid of Simba with Sumu failed. And from what Mzingo's vultures said, the coward has fled into the Pride Lands." Scar continues, "Such a pity. Kenge was a good follower. But now, we must get rid of him. Nobody can just leave without suffering the consequences!" Right after that Kiburi and Reirei enter. The two stand beside Janja, looking up at Scar with anticipation. Mzingo flies in from above, and lands on the ground near Chungu. Scar says, "Janja. Reirei, Kiburi, and Mzingo. Gather your groups. Head into the Pride Lands. And don't come back until that traitor lays still." The four leaders of the groups within Scar's Army turn to leave. Mzingo, Kiburi and Reirei go to gather their groups, while Janja leads those in his clan with him to get the remainder of the hyenas. Scar then begins laughing maniacally before his ghost disappears.
Back with the Lion Guard...
The Guard has just arrived at Nyani Grove. Big Baboon hops down from one of the trees in the grove as the other baboons watch from above in the other trees. Big Baboon says, "Hello, Lion Guard. What are you doing here?" Kion replies, "Kenge is heading this way. You and the other baboons should hide up in the trees until we deal with him. We don't want any of you to get bitten." The baboon leader nods. He climbs up the nearest tree and orders all the baboons to stay up in the trees. After that the Lion Guard prepare for when Kenge arrives, getting into position to surprise them. Though after a few minutes, Kenge doesn't show up. One of the baboons says, "Huh. I though Kenge would have gotten here by now." Fuli adds in, "Yeah. Strange." The cheetah looks to Ono. "Ono. Can you go see where Kenge is?" The egret replies, "Affirmative." before flying out of his hiding spot and taking to the air. In the sky, Ono puts his good sight to use, and sees Kenge in the distance. Though this time, Ono can see that Kenge is thin, showing signs of malnourishment, and the monitor lizard looks tired, and appears to be limping, with the lizard holding up his front right foot as he walks. Ono says, "Hapana." and flies back down to inform the Guard.
With Scar's Army...
The majority of Scar's Army is waiting just beyond the border between the Outlands and Pride Lands, waiting for Mwoga to show up. Just as Kiburi opens his jaw to begin complaining, the vulture shows up. Mzingo aks, "Mwoga, what did you see?" The other vulture replies, "I saw Kenge heading towards Nyani Grove. Though it looks like the Lion Guard is already there. The rest of the Pride Lands is exposed!" Upon hearing this, Janja groans and complains, "The Lion Guard? They're going to get in the way!" Reirei cackles, "Well, we better get moving if we want to even reach the lizard." Scar's Army then begins running into the Pride Lands, heading straight towards Kenge.
Back with the Lion Guard...
Ono lands on Beshte's back. Kion asks the egret, "Ono, what did you see?" The Keenest of Sight replies, "I found Kenge. But it's not what we thought. He looks starved and hurt. He is coming this way, but very slowly, and he's limping." Kion says, "Hevi Kabisa!" The lion cub then says, "Let's figure out what's happening. Lion Guard, let's go." The Guard soon leaves the grove, and the baboons wave goodbye as their leader shouts, "Good luck, Lion Guard!" After a few minutes of running the Guard crests a hill, and they see Kenge. Upon seeing the condition of the monitor lizard, Kion, Fuli, Bunga, and Beshte gasp. Kenge sees them, and attempts to get into a fighting stance, and bares his teeth. Although the monitor lizard winces and pulls his injured leg off the ground, and collapses, breathing hard. The Lion Guard approaches him. Beshte stands beside Kenge, and helps the monitor lizard stand up, and let's Kenge lean on him. Kion asks Kenge, "Kenge, what happened to you?" The monitor lizard looks up at Kion and says, "After I got roared at a second time, I couldn't take it anymore, and I abandoned Scar. I was forced to hide in the Outlands, and while I was there I was starving and got injured. Today I decided to hide here, in the Pride Lands." The Guard looks at Kenge with concern and pity. The lion cub says, "Well, let's get you to Rafiki, he'll be able to help heal your leg. Fuli and I couldn't try and get you something to eat in the meantime." The monitor lizard looks at each member of the Guard, one by one. His brown eyes then look back at Kion. The lizard sighs and says, "Asante, Kion." After a short pause, Kenge says, "And I promise not to bite any of you, as long as you don't call me little." Kion nods. Though just as the Guard is about to leave with Kenge, they all hear the laughing of a hyena. Scar's Army, is standing there, ready to charge. Janja looks maliciously at Kion and says, "Kion, what a lovely surprise it is to see you. Now, hand of the lizard, and nobody gets hurt!" Cheezi questions, "But Janja, Scar said he wanted us to get rid of Ken-" Janja interrupts, "Stuff it, fur-brain."
