How long had he been sitting here? How long ago was it that Maddie left? She had left him alone and he didn't blame her for going, why wouldn't she leave? He didn't deserve her to begin with, didn't deserve any of them, not after letting down Christopher.
"Look, over there" someone was saying, pointing out to something in the water
"Oh no" another said
Buck looked in the direction the guy was pointing and that's when he noticed the bodies floating in their direction, Chris didn't need to watch this as long as Buck was with him. He grabbed Christopher and placed him with his back to the water, and to the bodies, and went for the immediate distraction
"I spy with my little eye…" Buck began, just like they had done not so long ago, he watched as the bodies floated by, and he felt guilty for not having been there to save them but Chris was his priority now.
"BUCK" Chris yelled as he fell back into the water. Buck stopped and turned to watch as his brave little angel fell, almost in slow motion, backwards when the firetruck jolted a little do to the tides return back to the ocean, and then he was gone
"Chris" he breathed, "CHRISTOPHER" he yelled, but the kid was gone. He didn't think, didn't have time to think, he just acted when he jumped back into the water after Chris.
How long has it been since Chris fell in? Why couldn't he find him? Buck was mentally kicking himself for not doing a better job protecting Christopher, what was he gonna tell Eddie? He stopped walking, he couldn't return to see Eddie without Christopher, that wasn't an option he decided just then and there; 'If Chris doesn't return, then neither do I' Buck thought to himself, before starting to move again, calling out for Christopher, praying that somehow his little light of pure joy and brightness was okay.
It was a while ago since he found Christopher's glasses, yet still no sight of Chris anywhere. Buck was starting to feel the exhaustion set in, but he vowed to not let Chris down twice, he was going to find him, even if that meant pushing his body further through the exhaustion.
Every bit of his body was aching now, and he had been made aware of a cut on his arm that was bleeding, but he couldn't give up the search for Christopher, God he would never forgive himself for losing Christopher in the first place, or for bringing him to the pier the day of a freaking tsunami, he should have known something bad was gonna happen to Christopher if he did, something bad always happened to the ones he loved, because he was such an idiot that couldn't even protect them like he was supposed to. How could Eddie ever have entrusted someone so important to Buck, but it wasn't Eddie's fault Buck reminded himself, it was all his fault for never doing anything right.
Tears were slowly making their way down his cheeks, how dared he cry, he had no right to cry over Christopher or losing Eddie, it was all his own fault, so he angrily swept the tears away.
