September 30, 1938
The Kiev International Airfield
Olga, her son Tsarevich Alexander and Verenich walks to the airfield where a domestic manufactured aircraft is waiting for them. Its a cloudy day on September 30th in Russia, due to the early morning fog it left the runway wet which is in danger of freezing due to the low temperatures as the winter is coming. Olga wears a warm large grey coat and ushanka hat, as well as her son and Verenich. Olga and Alexander is greeted by 10 imperial guards, wearing dark blue uniforms with silver buttons and crown-style shakos, with 5 on the right saluting to the Empress with their right hands while holding FN model rifles with their left arm with the 5 on the left doing vice versa, on the sides of her path to the stair case that leads to the entrance into the plane. The interior of the passenger section of the plane is designed like a little office room for Olga, a blue carpet floor and the walls, chairs designed to be like that in a regular living room, a bedroom that can fit 3-4 people with window curtains on the right located near the tail section next to the lavatory. Olga and the 2 other people with her take their seats in the plane whilst the pilots are going about their procedure checklists. After taking their seats, the 3 people remove their cold weather clothing as it is warmer inside the aircraft.
"Mother." the 16 year old Tsarevich called.
"Yes, my dear?" Olga asked motherly.
"Why do I have to come along?" Alexander complained.
"This is important for your training as future Tsar and Emperor of the Empire. Since you are old enough; I want you to observe what a diplomatic mission is like in personal perspective so you will know what to do when the time comes. I do not want you to end up like your grandfather, a poorly trained ruler." Olga explained patiently to the boy.
The boy scoffed. "You have been training me ever since I was 6."
"Yes, but you were only taught the domestic basics of being a ruler, not the entire concept. I told you this is not easy." Olga replied putting her arm on her son to comfort him. Olga sighed. "I understand, I used to be like you when I was a Grandduchess, I am trying to give you a normal childhood as much as I can, like your grandfather did to me. Do you understand?"
the Tsarevich nodded. Olga smiles in return and so did Alexander.
The plane lands at oberwiesenfeld Airfield in 8:10 AM, as the plane taxis to its stop a crowd of photographers are held behind crowd control fences that are guarded by Wehrmacht units. After the plane came to halt a stair case is transported to the entrance of the fuselage for the Empress, her son and Verenich can exit down where an Wehrmacht officer is waiting for them.
"Willkommen im Reich, Ihre Majestät. Heil Hitler!" The officer greeted, Roman saluting the empress.
"He says; Welcome to the German Nation, your majesty." Ivanov translated, as he speak fluent German.
"Thank you." Olga responded generously.
"Danke." Ivanov translates to the Wehrmacht officer.
"Folge mir. Genau auf diese Weise."
"He says; Follow me, right this way."
"Alright." Olga replied.
The 3 follows the Wehrmacht officer through out the building onto the entrance where a greeting civilian crowd is blocked by crowd control fences. Alexander waves at the cheering Germans. The officer leads them to a limo, which is ordered by Hitler to pick up the Empress and her companions, the officer opens the back door and Olga enters followed by her son and Verenich. The limo is escorted by SS units on motorcycle as it travels through out the city. Olga and her son are struck with awe by the beauty of the buildings of the city, some designed like huge castles many of which dates back to the middle ages before Germany even existed. They have arrived at the Führerbau, a guard opens the Limo door for the Empress as she stands from her seat to walk to the entrance door of the white building with the presence of Journalists and news crew from all over Europe, including the BBC. The lobby section resembles a Grand hotel lobby, a large space at the center surrounded by pillars 7 feet apart, the floor built out of colorful reddish quartz stone, a grand staircase that leads to the 2nd floor with white quartz stone newel post with potted plants at each top and railing at the front, and a sky light window on the ceiling. The Empress, Tsarevich and Verenich walks across the long hall of the 2nd floor to the room where the meeting will be held, guided by a servant who works in the building. The servant opens the door to the meeting room as the 4 have arrived at the entrance, they all share greetings with the other people in the room.
"Hello, Mr. Chamberlain." Olga greets.
"Your majesty. " Chamberlain bows.
"Votre altesse impériale." Premier Edouard Daladier greeted by kissing the right hand of Olga.
"Oh..Mes plaisirs." Olga reacted in pleasure, putting her hand on her chest gracefully.
"How do you understand him?" Alexander whispered.
"I had a French tutor, remember?" Olga replied, "I told you you should learn French. Oh and please don't tell your father about this."
Benito Mussolini, I'll Duce of Italy and Olga greets each other with a hand shake.
An SS mann comes into the room, "Mien Damen und Herren; Der Fuhrer." He then walks back to the corner of the door frame and does a Roman salute as Hitler wearing his light brown party uniform with the swastika arm band on his left arm, enters with his translator, who is wearing a civilian dark suit. Hitler turns to Olga, then bows and takes his cap off simultaneously. Hitler then looks at Alexander, he his impressed with the Tsarevich's physical stature; fit and slim, light-skinned, blonde, and blue eyes, all description of a perfect human in Hitler's mind.
"Sie werden eines Tages ein feines Lineal machen." Hitler said, impressed.
"The Fuhrer says You will make a fine ruler some day." the German translator said.
"Thank you, Mr. Hitler." Alexander exclaimed.
"Er sagt Danke, Herr Hitler." The translator said to Hitler.
Hitler nods.
"Nun, Lady und Gentlemen, lassen Sie uns zum Thema kommen." Hitler proclaim.
Translation: Well, Lady and gentlemen, lets get to topic.
The translators, including Verenich, translates to their leaders. All the leaders takes their seats.
"Vielen Dank für Ihre Kommen, andere Führer, ich verabrede mich heute hier für das Thema das Sudetenland von Deutschen bevölkert ist und immer bevölkert ist, ist es für die deutsche Nation das Recht, das Territorium über die Tschechen zu gewinnen." Hitler boomed.
Translation: Thank you for coming, fellow leaders, I gather us here today for the issue over Czechoslovakia. As the Sudetenland is and always has been populated by Germans, it is the right for the German nation to gain the territory over the Czechs.
Neville's translator tells him what Hitler said, Neville nods, "I couldn't agree with you more, herr Hitler. However, the Czechs will not be pleased by this.." Neville hesitates, "Ludicrous expansion, but of course it is as you said: It is the right for the German nation the territory over Czechoslovakia."
"I object!" Olga stormed.
"Moi aussi!" Daladier followed, after his translator informed him.
Translation: So do I!
"I agree with Herr Hitler." Mussolini added, speaking english in an Italian accent.
Neville gestures his hand to Mussolini as a way saying thank you.
"Well I believe, the Czechs are the ones with the true rights over the Sudetenland, it is not an obligation for you, Herr Hitler, to take that right away against their will." Olga claims. You are aloud to stop paying the reparations in the Versailles treaty, re-build your military and annex Austria, but I think you should've already stop with the latter." Olga contiuned.
Hitler's translator tells him what Olga said, Hitler then looks at Olga with a stern expression. "Les Asiatiques centraux, les Ukrainiens, les peuples du Caucase, les Lettons et les Estoniens ont-ils droit à leur propre territoire?Vous parlez avec hypocrisie, Votre Majesté."
Translation: Does the central Asians, Ukrainians, Caucasus peoples, Latvians and Estonians have the right to their own territory? You are speaking with hypocrisy, your majesty.
Verenich's translates what Hitler said. Olga took great offence. "I'll have you know, that I have given those peoples the right to rule in their respective territory in the from of autonomy in my reforms 19 years ago!" Olga angerly responded. "I also have many of them working in the Duma as professional politicians!"
Hitler's translator translates Olga's words to the Fuhrer, Hitler does not respond but he is despised by the response he received in such manner.
"Mother, your temper!" Alexander reminded, with his hand on Olga's shoulder. Olga exhales after releasing her anger.
The room then fell to eerie silence until Chamberlain switch the situation back to the main topic. "Of course the Empress might not agree."
Hitler turns to Chamberlain.
"However, she is concern about the maintenance of peace in Europe, as well as the world, Herr Hitler." He added.
"Que diriez-vous de l'arrière des Sudètes et nous allons maintenir la paix sur le tant qu'allié des Tchèques, je m'oppose toujours à cet expansionnisme." Daladier protest.
Translation: How about back of the Sudetenland and we will maintain peace in the continent. As an ally of the Czechs I still object to this expansionism.
"Monsieur Daladier, may I remind you that you have broken your alliance with Czechoslovakia 2 months ago."
"Mais cela ne veut pas dire que je suis toujours contre, malgré l'inévitabilité de la guerre!" Daladier replied after his translator informed him.
Translation: But that doesn't mean I am still against this, despite the inevitability of war!
Chamberlain decides not to respond after his translator informed him.
"How about the Sudeten Germans will be told to move into the German Reich by transport, that way, this crisis can be averted and Europe shall preserve its peace. Sometimes you never get the job done by force, you will have to think outside the mind at a certain time to solve the problem." Olga suggests.
Mussolini nods and grooms his chin in agreement.
"Magnifique!" Daladier exclaimed after being informed by translator.
"Interesting suggestion, your imperial majesty." Chamberlain complimented.
Hitler's translator informs Hitler, he became furious by the Empress's suggestion. "Nien!" Hitler shouted. "Wenn der deutsche Fuß auf diesem Boden gelandet ist, dann bleibt dieser Fuß da!" Hitler protests making gestures of his hand as he talks.
Translation: If the German foot has landed on that soil, then that foot stays there!
"Herr Hitler, I am only making things easier, not just for the German nation but also the entirety of Europe as a whole." Olga counter argued.
Hitler's anger worsens as he hears what Olga said from his translator. "Meine Antwort ist immer noch nein! Wir werden nicht durch Ihren Vorschlag wie Hunde gehen, die rechtmäßigen Völker des Sudetenlandes werden auf dem Sudetenland bleiben, kein Transport in irgendwo, nicht jetzt, nicht nie!" Hitler roared and land his fist on the side table fiercely, making the others, including Olga, flinch from the sound of the impact.
Translation: My answer is still no! We will not go by your suggestion like dogs, the rightful peoples of the Sudetenland shall stay on the Sudetenland, no transport into anywhere, not now, not ever!
Olga could not believe of what she has witnessed in the room, she never encountered a leader who was so passionate about his ideals that he does not take other's into account like a typical child. What an odd fellow, she thought.
"Wenn ich das Sudetenland nicht bekomme, dann wird es Krieg soweit ich weiß, wollen Sie alle keinen Krieg."
Translation: If I don't get the Sudetenland, then it will be war. As far as I know, you all don't want war.
Hitler then turns to Daladier and Olga, "Stimmt das nicht, Monsieur Daladier und deine imperiale Hoheit?" He looks at them with a cold expression.
Translation: Isn't that right, Monsieur Daladier and your imperial highness?
Olga and Daladier's translators translates Hitler's words. Olga and Daladier remains silent.
"Je signerai le traité." Daladier responds with defeat.
Translation: I'll sign the treaty.
Knowing French, Olga is shocked, but the thought of war in Hitler's words and the words within her have decided the decision.
"Your imperial highness?" Chamberlain wonder.
Olga nods sheepishly, knowing she is defeated by Hitler.
"Excellent!" Chamberlain exclaimes.
All 5 leaders signs the Munich agreement with their names underneath the last paragraph after the meeting, all of the leaders shakes hands with one another for the cameras that will be published in the News papers about the signing of the treaty in September 30th, the news crew takes footage as the moments continues between the leaders and their companions. An hour after the conference, Olga, her son and Verenich returns to the limo to be transported back to the airport, on a flight route back to Russia.
"Mother." Alexander called.
"Mmmh?" Olga responds.
"Is that really what diplomatic missions are? Its like a regular kid fight to me." Alexander said, humorously.
Olga smiles and shakes her head, chuckling, "No. Its just..." Olga sighed, "Hitler is a difficult one. I never seen a man like him ever in my life. I'd never thought I wish I spoke to uncle Wilhelm instead."
"Whos uncle Wilhelm?"
"Oh uh- I'll tell you later." Olga answers in hesitation.
Olga may have been defeated on the first round, but she will not dare to give in at anytime and any moment. The game continuous.
Berlin, German Reich
Reichstag, Chancellor's Office
In the old Reich chancellery within the Reichstag, Hitler and Goering are in the office having conversation following the Munich conference. Hitler's left hand holds his head as he's in stress from the meeting due to his anger outbreak.
"Agh! I hope I never have to go through that, again!" Hitler said in relief and anger.
"Well it was for the best, Mein Fuhrer. We got what we want, the Allies won't intervene, Czechoslovakia stays in its place and Russia doesn't have a say in the matter." Goering reasures.
"That woman was hard to have a conversation with, Herman. Never in my life, that I ever saw a woman has dared to talk back to a man." Hitler grumbles. "One of these days, Herman, she will bow down to me with all of her subjects once the time has come." Hitler adds in a dark tone.
Herman Goering continuous to drink his brandy without further interruption.
"I'd rather have my teeth pulled out than speaking to the empress ever again." Hitler claims.
Prauge, Czechoslovakia.
Presidential office
The President of Czechoslovakia receives news from two Czechoslovak generals that an agreement in Munich has been signed, demanding him to ceded the Sudetenland to the ever growing German Reich.
"Zrada!" The President shouted.
Translation: Traitors!
The two military officers looks at each other of worry.
AN: The Language barriers are a nightmare to write but at least I manage to finish this, especially since Hitler never spoke a word of English and I am not sure about Eduardo. Enjoy!
What I enjoyed about wiritng this is the fact Olga and Hitler have one similarity: They both have emotion problems.
Also I erased Ivanov since I remeber how things worked, so I may changed the later parts in chapter 1 to mend the story.
