Chapter 3: Wizard VS Rin
All this death that branded her a witch, she did not want this. She didn't even know what came over her. All that she knows is that she did all these horrendous things in the name of love. Love that she now knows was not worth it. She didn't even know why she loved him. She betrayed so many, and in turn, she was betrayed as well. And for that, hundreds were killed, including her loved ones, and she was cast away, hated by all.
She just wanted to be loved, and this is her reward.
Ryuudouji Temple
Haruto woke up from his sleep. What a strange dream. Must be Caster's memories, he thought. She told her that happens sometimes between Masters and Servants.
The pain from fighting Berserker last night is gone now. Granted, he was wearing his armor at the time so it's not as painful as a hit like that normally would.
He exited his room and headed to Caster's room, where he was greeted with an interesting sight.
Caster is busy dressing up a red faced Okita in a Meido Outfit.
The second he saw them, he immediately dropped to the floor, laughing as hard as he can.
Okita's face became redder while Caster frowned.
"What's wrong Master? Are my designs not to your liking?"
"No, it's not that," Haruto stifled through his laughter. "It's just that— she's so cute!"
Okita cried while Caster perked up. "See? I told you you'll look good in this."
"I'm a Captain of the Shinsengumi!" Okita protested. "I'm supposed to be fearsome, not cute!" Unfortunately for her, the way she's currently dressed and the childish way she whines doesn't do her any favors, if Caster's blushing and nosebleed and Haruto's laughter getting louder is any indication.
Caster turned to Haruto. "Oh, Master. I made breakfast over there." She pointed at a small table with a plate full of Pancakes.
With the sight of the Pancakes, Haruto rushed to the table. "Itadaikimasu!" he said before he ate one Pancake. And after a few seconds, he starts munching on another one. Then another one. Then another one…
"Oi Haruto-Kun! Leave some for me will you!" Okita said, completely forgetting her issue with her clothing and rushing to the table as well, while Caster stared in astonishment as her Master and Servant finished the Breakfast that she made in less than five minutes.
Once they finished eating, Haruto was the first to ask, "So, what now?"
"I guess we can talk about last night," Okita answered. She turned to Caster. "Master, you know who Berserker is. I suppose you know what he's capable of."
Caster joined them at the table, and she began, "As I've said, he is Heracles. The greatest and most famous Greek Hero. His stats are of the highest caliber, and His Noble Phantasm, God Hand, allows him to revive himself 12 times after his death, based on the twelve labors that he did in life."
"So, we'll have to kill him 12 times," Haruto grimaced, when an idea struck him. "Can I kick him to the sun? I had an enemy with immortality once, and that's what I did to him."
Had Okita been drinking anything at the time, she would've spit it out. "You can do that? What kind of Mage are you?"
Caster however, shook her head. "I'm afraid that won't be helpful. Even if you were able to do that, his Master could simply call him back with a Command seal."
"Can't Haruto-Kun repeat what he did last night? It seemed effective. We just need to trap him somehow and have him spam that dragon breath thing," suggested Okita.
"That won't work either. By this point, he should've already gained a resistance to the attack."
Haruto and Okita paled. It seems like Heracles really is best of the best.
"Will a different version of the attack work?" asked Haruto. "I have one for each element, two that combines them all, and one more powerful than all of them."
Caster thinks on that. "Yes, I suppose that could work." If they plan this right, they would be able to take out 6 of his 11 remaining lives. She just needs her Magecraft and Okita's Noble Phantasm.
The trio began concocting a plan. If this works, then they'll be able to remove one of their biggest obstacles in the War.
Later that night
As Tohsaka Rin scouts for enemy Masters, she can't help but think of last night. What is that idiot thinking? Stupid Emiya. He really should've jut stayed out of the war if he's just going to protect his enemies.
But she can't help but admire him somehow. She might be a Mage, and to walk the path of a Mage is to reject your humanity. But still. It's nice to know that there are still good people out there. Not that she'll tell him that.
"Rin, I sense a Servant," her Servant Archer, who is in Spirit Form, told her. The Servant clad in red immediately materialized just before she was struck down by a Katana, blocking her blade just in time.
Rin recognized her as the other Servant from last night. She noticed her Master also arrive, wearing civilian clothes besides the belt buckle.
"So, you must be Archer," Assassin said. "Strange that you will instead fight with a Sword."
As Archer holds his twin swords, he said, "you're looking more like a Saber yourself, Assassin."
The Master prepared to transform, but Rin stopped him in his tracks.
"You are a Mage, are you not? Then your opponent will be me."
He briefly glanced at his ally, who said, "Don't worry. I can handle this." As Assassin and Archer began clashing blades, the two Mages stared down at each other.
"I've fought other Mages in my travels before. Are you like them who are willing to sacrifice other people for the sake of their studies?" Questioned the man.
Rin is aware of how far Mages can go far when it comes to improving their craft. While she personally wouldn't like to do things like that, as the Tohsaka heir, she would have to if it means preserving her family's honor. "Don't be ridiculous. All Mages are supposed to be like that. To be a Mage is to give up your humanity."
He simply frowned. "If that's the case, then I will have no problem fighting you." He scans the ring on his right hand with his belt, which announces, "DRIVER ON, PLEASE!" The belt became bulkier and Metallic.
He's giving Rin a strangely familiar vibe. "Don't tell me you're some kind of Hero of Justice or something. If that's the case, then you are no real Mage."
"No. I'm a Wizard." He puts on another ring on his left hand and switches the position of his Belt's hand, now pointing to his right. The belt spoke again.
"SHABADOOBI TOUCH TO HENSHIN! SHABADOOBI TOUCH TO HENSHIN!"
"What the heck is that?" Thought Rin as the belt kept singing. Does this guy have any dignity?
"Henshin!" He called out as he scanned the Ring.
"FLAME, PLEASE!"
"HI, HI, HI, HI, HI!"
A magic circle engulfs him as he became clad with his armor. He scans yet another ring, and the belt says "CONNECT, PLEASE!" Another circle appears where he takes out his sword.
"Now, it's Showtime!"
He charges towards her. Rin fires a few shots of Gandr from her fingers, all of which he deflected with his sword. Rin threw one of her jewels, and he attempted to do the same thing as before, and the gem exploded in his face. Just as planned.
He turned his sword into a gun and shoots at her. Rin dodged as she fired her own shots of Gandr, which he also dodged.
Wizard takes out a Rring, but before he can put it on, Rin fired another Gandr. There is no way she's gonna let him use that.
Rin continues on firing while Wizard continues dodging and deflecting. It's clear at this point that no one will win this unless Wizard gets distracted enough that she'll be able to hit him, but she just needs to stall and prevent him from joining his Servant.
The Servant known as Archer is currently fighting against Assassin. He has to change his normal strategy, as unlike the other Servant's, he doesn't know her fighting style that much. He's lucky that he knows her true name. But still, she and her Master are a complete enigma to him. He doesn't remember them at all. In his Holy Grail War, the Assassin Servant is Sasaki Kojiro, who was summoned by Caster and bound to Ryuudouji Temple's Gate. Instead, Assassin is Okita Souji (who looks eerily similar to Saber), and not only is she not bound to the Temple, but she seems to be under commands from a different Master.
As they kept on exchanging hits with their swords, Assassin suddenly spoke. "Eh? Are you sure about that, Master? Very well then."
Assassin materialized a Flag that she momentarily used a second Sword to push Archer away.
As he felt a good amount of Mana come out of the flag, Archer realized that this is her Noble Phantasm.
"Flag of Sincerity!" Okita invoked, and as the light from the Flag fades, another man in a Shinsengumi Haori appears.
Okita told him, "protect Haruto-Kun, Saito-San!"
Rin didn't expect another Swordsman, who seems to be a Servant, but not quite, to attack her out of nowhere. Seeing his Haori, Rin realized that he is part of Assassin's Noble Phantasm.
The new Servant swings his sword towards Rin, who tried her best to avoid his blade. Unfortunately, Archer is occupied with Assassin. Even more unfortunate is that this gave Wizard enough time to scan a ring.
"Water, Please!"
"Sui, Sui, Sui, Sui!"
Another Magic Circle passes through Wizard, turning his armor blue and his helmet in a different shape. He quickly scans another ring.
"BLIZZARD, PLEASE!"
As the Servant disappeared, his job done, Wizard shot a blast of icy wind at Rin, and before she knew it, her body was completely covered in ice.
With Rin frozen, Wizard opens the hand on his sword. The sword exclaimed, "C'MON AND SLASH, SHAKE HANDS!"
As Wizard shakes the hand and the Magical Energy of the sword builds up, Archer realized that he's aiming for the kill. With no time to waste, he materialized dozens of Swords and sent them flying towards him. Wizard quickly deflected the swords using his own, but this gave Archer enough time to quickly rush to his frozen Master, grab her, and leave for the night.
Well, this will put a dent on his plans. He thought that by this point, he would've figure out how to navigate this Holy Grail War based on past memories, but now he's unsure because of these new unknown factors. Who knows what other changes are there now?
But he can't worry about them that much. Sure, they'll be a hindrance, but he must not lose sight of his true goal.
Unknown to everyone involved, a blond man watched the fight. While his focus was mainly on the fight of the two Masters, he can't help but get annoyed by the other battle.
That Faker of an Archer was bad enough, using swords the same way as him, but then there's that Assassin. The nerve of that Mongrel! Not only did she steal his Saber's face, but her Noble Phantasm is almost the same as the King of Conquerors, one of the few people that he respects! Truly, she is a Faker among Fakers. He needs to get rid of her.
But not tonight. If she dies, the Master is out of the War, and he would like to keep him alive and remain in the War. A Master who can fight against Servants and killed Berserker. One would think that it's already a great achievement, but the King knows better. He needs to see how well he'll fare against Saber. Both he and Saber needs to survive long enough to fight each other. Only then can he truly judge the Mongrel. Until then he has to wait.
He's fine with that. Gilgamesh waited 10 Years for this War. He could wait a little longer.
So, this is shorter than the previous chapters. You might be thinking, "BB-Chan, Wizard killed Berserker. Why the heck is he struggling against Rin?"
When Wizard fought Berserker, he relied completely in the brute strength of his Magic. With Rin however, her Gandr is faster than Berserker, and she did the one thing Tokusatsu and Anime Villains (or heroes for that matter) tend not to do. Disrupt him while he's transforming/charging an attack (or I guess in this case, scanning his rings). Berserker underestimated him, and Rin saw that. She won't be making the same mistake
