Alright I'm back y'all. A little weird chapter wasn't it? Hopefully I got my point across. Sorry I haven't posted this chapter. I've been moving the rest of my stuff from my place I was in for school, back home. Also I've been doing a lot of stuff for this new job. Didn't really know what to do with this chapter, that's also a reason I haven't posted in awhile. This chapter takes place about a week or so after Jewel, the egg (if you haven't figured it out) was born. Hope you enjoy!!
It was another beautifulday in the Amazon rainforest. All different species of birds were out and about doing their daily routine.
For Eduardo, it was a exciting day as the tribe leader. Usually he would be out with the tribe making sure everything was in working order. Having the tribes stock of food up to standards, making sure their water supply was clean, and most importantly making sure no one was getting into trouble. But for today, we was keeping his relationships up with the other tribes in the surrounding areas.
A spectacular array of colored macaws sat at a giant table in The Grand Hollow. The Grand Hollow was part of the Spix's macaw tribe, it was the largest tree in all of the tribes. It was primarily used for the tribe leaders meetings. The tribes mostly discussed how each tribe was doing with their food, water, and other supply quantity, crimes that went on in each tribe, and surveillance outside their distinguish tribes. But this meeting ended a bit different. Usually the birds would shake hands, talk 1 on 1 with each other, and enjoy lunch with each other. In a couple of days, they were holding the Brazil nut tournament. It was a time to let lose and have a friendly, competitive game of football between the tribes. The winning tribe got a fancy Brazil nut trophy and of course, bragging rights. Except for this year.
The military macaw leader stood up and began to speak. "One of our scout flights found a lush grove of Brazil nuts out side the limits of the tribes. I think whom ever wins should have control of it."
"Well why don't we share it? We all know we could use extra food." The hyacinth macaw leader said
"What's the fun in that? With a prize like that, it could make this years games interesting" said the Scarlet macaw leader with a mischievous smile.
Eduardo was not paying attention to the conversation. His mind was on his egg, which would be hatching any day now.
"Eduardo? Hey Eduardo!!" Multiple of the birds shouted at Eduardo. His eyes shoot up, confused to see all the birds looking at him.
"Um sorry, can you say that again?" Eduardo coughed.
"What are your thoughts on this?" The scarlet macaw leader said
"Uhhhhhhhh, it's good. It's a great idea." Eduardo said giving a thumbs up. He didn't have a clue what they were yapping about.
"Well I think that settles it, all in favor say I" the military macaw raised his wing looking at the other leaders.
"I" most of the leaders including Eduardo raised their wings.
"All oppose?"
The Hyacinth macaw slowed raised his wing looking to see no one else was with him.
"Alright looks like the winning tribe takes the grove." The military macaw shouted raising both wings.
"What grove are they talking about?" Eduardo thought to himself. All the birds started to get up, grabbing some fruit and nuts off the table.
"I don't think this is a good idea Eduardo." The hyacinth walked passed Eduardo shaking his head.
Eduardo sat there, trying to figure out what was all going on. But then, the leader of the military macaw came up to him.
"I'm glad your on board with the idea! It's going to be a great tournament this year!" The macaw grabbed Eduardos shoulder and gave him a smile.
"Yeah definitely Ryan, it's going to be great." Eduardo have him a slight smile
"Hey, you alright buddy?" Ryan looked at Eduardo with a concerning eye. Ryan wasn't the type to be caring or supportive, but him and Eduardo were close friends since they were born.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm glad I just got stuff on my mind right now" Eduardo said, standing up from his chair.
"Oh, how's June doing? Did she have your eggs yet?? Asked Ryan.
"Yeah she did, they should be hatching any day now." Eduardo chuckled a bit.
"That's great to hear man. Make sure to raise them right!" Ryan laughed and gave Eduardo a slight punch to this shoulder. His friend walked away to talk to some of the other birds, Eduardo stood their a little upset that he lied to him. Eduardo decided to leave to check on June. The other leaders stopped to chat with him about June and his egg, He gave the same answer to all of them. Eduardo grabbed a mango and a nut and took flight back to his hollow. The hot summer sun beat down on Eduardos back as he flew to the edge of his hollow. June was rearranging their home, they had gotten a bigger table and another bed to accompany their new family member. June was unaware her mate had flown in, she was singing the tribes song with beautiful enthusiasm. Eduardo slow walked into the dining area and quietly paced the food on the table. He then slowly walk towards June, making sure he wouldn't alert her of his presents.
"How's my gorgeous wife doing!" Eduardo yelled as he grabbed June from behind, picking her up and holding her in his wings. June let out a slight Yelp before laughing once she saw who had picked her up.
"Hm well I was doing great until you got here, now I'm doing even better." June giggled and pulled Eduardo in for a kiss.
Eduardo loved the way June felt, her feathers were soft, they felt like fresh silk. He didn't want to put her down, but he gave in because they both had work to do. June continued rearranging the hollow while Eduardo walked over to the crib. He picked up the blanket of leaves that was over the egg.
"I can't wait till it hatch's..." Eduardo started but he begin to hear cracking.
"Oh my gosh it's happening!" June screamed and ran to Eduardos said
"Oh my gosh it's happening..." Eduardo thought to himself
The two birds stood over the crib awaiting for their baby chick to break out of the egg. Soon a little beak broke through the shell and started chirping.
"You can do it. Just keeping pushing your beak through." June crouched down to talk to the baby bird. More and more of the shell began to fall, exposing the small bird. June bent over and picked up the bird.
"Eduardo, it's a girl!"
