The next day, Gabriella got up and ready for school. She made breakfast for herself and Olivia as well as their lunches as David and Vivien were almost constantly neglecting them. She got herself dressed and made sure her sister had everything she needed for the day before they walked out to wait for the bus. They sat together on the bus on the way to school - they were always glad that they attended a pre-K to 12 school so they were always close by if one of them needed the other. They got off the bus and walked to Olivia's classroom. Gabriella kneeled down in front of her sister so she was closer to her level. "Try to have a good day today Livie."
"Promise you'll still come at lunch."
"I promise Sweet Girl." She hugged her and kissed her forehead. "I love you and I'll see you at lunch, have fun."
"I love you too Bria, bye."
Gabriella walked off to her locker and was caught off guard when she was shoved into a row of them, not surprised when she saw the football team laughing at her. She picked herself up and brushed herself off, walking the rest of the way to her locker and home room. Gabriella was hated amongst her school, she was considered a nerd but the smart people of her school didn't see her to be smart enough to fit in with them so she was an outcast.
She went about her classes and tried to stay as invisible until she entered social studies - her favourite class. Not many students took the subject so there was only 12 when the class had full attendance. She sat in her seat in the back as her teacher entered and started the lesson. "Alright class, I'm handing out your research assignment for the semester. I've chosen for topics and three of you will each be assigned this topic but this is an individual task. You must research your chosen issue and present it to the class through a multimodal at the end of the semester."
The task sheets for the assignment were handed out and the teacher continued. "Ok so here are your topic: Harper, Abigail and Miles, you'll be doing wages and poverty. Jayden, Isaac and Payton, you'll be covering sexism in the workplace and gender equality. Mia, Zoe and Aaron, you'll be doing civil rights and racial discrimination. And finally, Kayden, Danielle and Gabriella, you'll be doing child abduction and abuse. I don't want you to start researching yet, that can wait until tonight, for the remainder of the lesson, I'm going to go through the structure of the assignment and give you some planning time."
By the end of the class, the bell rang and Gabriella put her books away before making her way down to Olivia's area. She stood by the classroom door as she watched her sister play with her two little friends Tatum and Clara. She was drawn from her thoughts by the voice of her sister's teacher. "Down here again Gabriella, is everything ok?"
The junior smiled. "Yeah everything's fine Miss, Olivia asked if I could come down and visit her, that's all."
The teacher smiled in return. "Very well, you're both so formal, calling each other by full first names, no nicknames or anything."
"We use nicknames, just in private, she likes it better that way."
At the moment, she felt a weight against her legs as Olivia had ran to her. She lifted her up and kissed her cheek. "Hey Sweet Girl, are you having fun?"
The little girl nodded. "Do you want to come play with me, Tatum and Clara." The junior nodded and played with the three 7-year-olds for the remainder of the lunch break until the bell rang.
She lifted her sister into her arms, whispering so only she could hear. "Alright Livie, I've gotta go but I'll meet you here this afternoon, ok? I love you."
Olivia whispered back. "I love you Bria."
